Shownotes

Fraudology is presented by Sardine.

Online fraud that isn't prevented, is now keeping lawyers in the US busy!

  • Over the last month, several class action lawsuits have been filed against banks such as Wells Fargo, Bank of America, Capital One, TD Bank, and others, claiming these financial institutions were aware of the significant fraud risks to consumers, without a method for victims to receive repayment.

  • Lawsuits are also being filed against the largest & most popular marketplace for Crypto and NFTs, OpenSea. Users report loss of stored value NFTs (via ATO), fake/inauthentic NFTs, and glitches that have caused users to sell other seller's items for a discount. Users don't feel like OpenSea has been proactive in preventing fraud from occurring on its site or in recovering/reimbursing funds

What can other companies learn from these situations to avoid being next?

Also, Karisse talks about a new trend being reported by retailers with physical stores & the FBI, which result in high dollar chargebacks that merchant is responsible for.

Fraudology is hosted by Karisse Hendrick, a fraud fighter with decades of experience advising hundreds of the biggest ecommerce companies in the world on fraud, chargebacks, and other forms of abuse impacting a company's bottom line.
