Former detective, now disgraced deputy, Joe "Deke" Deacon is pulled back into the search for a calculating serial killer that left Deke's life broken not long ago. Jim Baxter, a new up and coming officer, is assigned the task of tracking down the killer, who just left another body in his wake. Jim pulls Deke back into the case as Deke grapples with his past failure and the drive to catch this brutal killer.
