Shownotes

Bryan's dad, Hank, was semi-retired and looking for something to do. Bryan was a charter & tug boat captain spending a lot of time out on the water. Hank told his hard working son Bryan, "what's the point of making a good living if you're never at home to enjoy it?" His sales pitch to Bryan was, "if we each had a truck, we could probably make a living."

They purchased U.S. Lawns - Myrtle Beach in February 2004, but one truck was not enough for Bryan...it's been a wild ride ever since...and the sky is the limit. Hank did finally retire and left the business in good hands several years ago, but still stops by to do projects in the shop.

Bryan has about 36 trucks now. He and his team are having an outstanding year and are up 82% in year-over-year growth for revenue and up 205% in enhancement revenue.

Bryan discusses how not getting his H2B workers meant he had to do things a little differently.

Bryan's quote, "A captain is only as good as his crew," holds true. We brought on some new team members in the last year and a half, and that brought a new level of drive and competitiveness that the whole team has embraced. We've grown together on and off the field. We have more energy. I'm 100% transparent with them with true numbers and true costs.

His advise to new owners is to know what your strength and weaknesses are, and hire people who know how to do what you don't know how to do. And know your business so you understand what it takes and how long it takes to get something done in the field.

In this episode, you can hear what his passions are, how he leads his team, and how he follows his gut and instincts.
