Takeaways:
How do you build a life that's full, connected and meaningful regardless of your relationship status?
Speaker A:Hi, welcome back.
Speaker A:I'm Violetta, your host of All About Being Single.
Speaker A:So last week we talked about different types of self care.
Speaker A:So today I wanted to finish that up.
Speaker A:And if you've been listening the last few episodes, I am trying to finish the remodel of my house.
Speaker A:So I'm currently recording in my podcast room that's got tiles all over the floor, so I barely have any room to even speak here.
Speaker A:But let's do this because part of my self care routine at this point, the last few months is just finishing this open loop that this whole remodel has been for.
Speaker A:Essentially I've been doing this for like the last five and a half years.
Speaker A:Like I started, I moved into this house during the pandemic.
Speaker A:I started purchasing stuff for the remodel because I needed a whole house remodel literally five and a half years ago.
Speaker A:And then I also wanted to live my life.
Speaker A:You know, I wanted to go out and try to date sometimes and I did date a few people throughout it.
Speaker A:I also wanted to hang out with my friends, I wanted to go and travel.
Speaker A:And obviously if you're listening to this, you know, this being single, you only you have to do it all yourself and you don't have as much help as somebody who's not single.
Speaker A:So the remodel has just taken so much longer than it could have.
Speaker A:But you know what, that's okay.
Speaker A:It's almost done.
Speaker A:So let's go ahead and finish talking about the different types of self care.
Speaker A:So spiritual self care, just connecting with your values, your purpose, you know, maybe your beliefs.
Speaker A:So with prayer, meditation, spending time in nature, practicing gratitude, and I do that every evening.
Speaker A:It definitely works.
Speaker A:Try it out.
Speaker A:Reflecting on your purpose, attending religious services if applicable.
Speaker A:Obviously not everybody's religious.
Speaker A:Professional self care.
Speaker A:So just protecting your well being at work.
Speaker A:So taking breaks, setting work boundaries, using vacation time, seeking mentorship of some sort, continuing education, managing workload, realistically trying to find a new job if you hate your job.
Speaker A:And then there's creative self care, expressing yourself and nurturing creativity.
Speaker A:So just writing and painting or photography or crafting or playing music or cooking or baking for enjoyment, whatever it is that you think will make you happier.
Speaker A:Environmental self care.
Speaker A:So just creating spaces that support your well being.
Speaker A:So decluttering, decorating your home, getting fresh air, adding plants to your space, keeping your environment clean and comfortable.
Speaker A:So your note to self this week is just ask yourself, what does my body need?
Speaker A:What are you feeling?
Speaker A:What is taking up mental space?
Speaker A:And what mental space can you clear up so you can do something else?
Speaker A:What do I need more or less of right now?
Speaker A:What task would make my life easier if I handled it today?
Speaker A:How can I check in with my spiritual side?
