“How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners
delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge. Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you.
Solomon. Proverbs 1:22 & 23.
Hi, it’s Nathan, and this is day 10 of ANOTHER 30 Days of Wisdom. Let’s hear it in its raw, modern form: “how long will you love ignorance?” “How long will you indulge your cynicism?” “How long will you refuse to learn?” Our continued commitment to ignorance and stupidity—for whatever reason—is truly baffling. That God continues to surround us with the voice of wisdom, is itself an astonishing revelation of his kind heart. Yet more is here—not just the voice of wisdom calling out—but the offer of his personal. Yes, really. He not only continues tossing words of wisdom our way, through every possible medium, but offers to personally sit down with us, tutoring us in the ways of wisdom.
What a magnificent offer! He does not wish us left in the dark—sabotaged by our own foolishness—but rather filled with light. Guided by wisdom. The Person of God, our companion. Our tutor. Our personal guide. When we face a difficult crossroads, company, insight, wisdom. When staring down the odds: courage, direction, a hand to hold. When pushing into the crowd: composure, determination, discretion, a Friend. When alone. Companionship. When confused. Clarity. When defeated, consolation. A shoulder for our tears.
