Excellence Is the Result – Wisdom Unplugged
Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is day 465 of our trek, and it is Tuesday and time for our 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom each Tuesday and Thursday. So, let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.
Today’s quote is from Ronnie Oldham who tells us, “Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise; risking more than others think is safe; dreaming more than others think is practical and expecting more than others think is possible.”
Do you go above and beyond what is expected? Many people do not. If you desire to impact the lives of others positively, then it is required that you stretch yourself beyond what you or others may feel is necessary. Do not settle for being ordinary or average. Instead, strive to be extraordinary and excellent in all that you do. Care deeply for others, even though it will expose you to being hurt. Take the risk that may cause you some discomfort. Dream bigger dreams than you feel that you can ever accomplish. Expect more of yourself than others expect from you. In doing so, you will not only impact others greatly, you will achieve a level that you did not even think was possible.
Think in the way that the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 3:12-14, “I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”
