The fellas discuss ODU football's crushing 49 to 17 win over Georgia Southern and preview the trip to Boone to play Appalachian State next week.

Transcripts

Speaker:

The following presentation is brought to you by The Pride of ODU, the official

Speaker:

NIL collective of Old Dominion Athletics.

Speaker:

Be a Monarchist.

Speaker:

Join The Pride.

Speaker:

Monarch Nation, welcome to the show.

Speaker:

We are back in the lab, ready to talk some Old Dominion football on a victory Friday.

Speaker:

Uh, Old Dominion Beach, Georgia Southern, 47 to 19.

Speaker:

We're all happy.

Speaker:

We're all ecstatic.

Speaker:

But first, how are y'all feeling today, fellas?

Speaker:

Awesome.

Speaker:

One word.

Speaker:

Awesome.

Speaker:

I'll second that.

Speaker:

Awesome.

Speaker:

Awesome night last night.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So a common theme we've had this season is talking about how good this

Speaker:

defense is, but also we need to use the middle of the field on offense.

Speaker:

And boy, did we exploit that to the T last night again and again and again, just

Speaker:

crushing Georgia Southern over the middle.

Speaker:

I do not know why they didn't add a third middle safety once in the game to adjust

Speaker:

to what we were doing, but I'm happy.

Speaker:

They did not a phenomenal effort last night.

Speaker:

All around defense played lights out offense played lights out.

Speaker:

Uh, I think all Monarch fans are just on cloud nine right now.

Speaker:

I mean, we needed a game like that so badly for this fan base, just a no sweat.

Speaker:

Let someone come into Ballard and get the kicked out of them.

Speaker:

And that's exactly what we did on national TV, by the way.

Speaker:

I've never seen that many receivers running open downfield before in an ODU

Speaker:

game since maybe the high Yankee days.

Speaker:

Is there something above Cloud 9?

Speaker:

Because if there is, I think that's where most of Monarch Nation is right now.

Speaker:

It was stupid crazy last night.

Speaker:

I think the word we're looking for is catharsis.

Speaker:

That was a very cathartic game for Old Dominion.

Speaker:

I mean, they showed the graphic during the game, I watched the replay.

Speaker:

They showed the graphic of our, how many one score games we've

Speaker:

been in the last two seasons.

Speaker:

10 and 11 says Old Dominion leads the country in one score games.

Speaker:

Um, and finally we're on the right side of a blowout for

Speaker:

the first time in a long time.

Speaker:

And it's because we finally connected through the air.

Speaker:

Um, there was a couple of plays I really, really did enjoy last night.

Speaker:

Obviously we all loved the jump pass, the Tebow jump pass, but the, uh, RPO play

Speaker:

action, uh, touchdown pass to Pat Conroy.

Speaker:

If you go back and rewatch that, he motioned like he was

Speaker:

going to block for the runner.

Speaker:

We fake the run.

Speaker:

He bolts through the line on the a gap he's left wide open and

Speaker:

just nothing in front of him.

Speaker:

A beautifully drawn out play and very well executed.

Speaker:

I, I'm going to probably watch that play like 10 times this weekend,

Speaker:

just because of how much I loved it.

Speaker:

It was super clear to see that Colton is getting more comfortable.

Speaker:

He didn't rush those plays.

Speaker:

There are a handful of those plays that he just let them develop.

Speaker:

He was patient.

Speaker:

They weren't necessarily perfect, but he was patient enough and he got

Speaker:

the ball where he needed to go and they were beautiful and they worked,

Speaker:

I mean, just over and over and over.

Speaker:

It wasn't one punch to the face, it was just like repeated jabs

Speaker:

and then an occasional right hook.

Speaker:

We, I mean, I can't remember the last time that we had a game like that.

Speaker:

The offensive line played exceptionally well last night.

Speaker:

They've improved.

Speaker:

I think every game since Bowling Green and they've had some injuries,

Speaker:

you know, Elijah Hoskins goes down.

Speaker:

Santana Saunders was not there last night.

Speaker:

Skyler Grant gets plugged in at guard.

Speaker:

And I mean, they were manhandling a big defensive front for Georgia Southern.

Speaker:

I think it was 57.

Speaker:

He's got to be every bit of 350 pounds and Skyler Grant and Flores were just

Speaker:

throwing them around like it was nothing.

Speaker:

Uh, you can do a lot of fun things in this offense when

Speaker:

the line is blocking like that.

Speaker:

And we had them on their heels.

Speaker:

They didn't know it was run if it was passed where it was going.

Speaker:

I think that's the most unpredictable our offense has been all year

Speaker:

and we we emptied the tank and it paid off in a big, big way.

Speaker:

And you're talking about being unpredictable.

Speaker:

I mean, we passed the ball for just over 300 yards and we run

Speaker:

the ball for 256 net yards.

Speaker:

I mean, it's just constantly not knowing where it's coming from.

Speaker:

And just when you you think that you're gonna get it run down your throat, they

Speaker:

run something and they throw the ball.

Speaker:

I mean, Georgia Southern never seemed to get any sort of balance.

Speaker:

They're constantly just didn't know what was gonna happen.

Speaker:

What was coming next?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Um, a lot of kudos to give out for from last night.

Speaker:

Uh, but early on in the game, it was clear we were trying to establish the run to set

Speaker:

up that pass, and I, we never abandoned that balance, just like you said, Aaron,

Speaker:

uh, it's why we did it on both sides of the on offenses yesterday, 300 yards.

Speaker:

250 rushing, just phenomenal game that, uh, I mean, how, how nice it is

Speaker:

that we were able to play the whole fourth quarter with all backups.

Speaker:

I can't remember the last time we played a backup quarterback for anything

Speaker:

other than injury or lack of execution.

Speaker:

I

Speaker:

mean, we haven't.

Speaker:

We've only won one game by double digits since 2022.

Speaker:

And I, we're going to reference this coastal game for 2022 a lot.

Speaker:

Cause we smashed a lot of the records that had been the high water mark

Speaker:

for coach Ronnie since he got here.

Speaker:

But man, I mean, that broke a 21 game streak without 300 yards passing for ODU.

Speaker:

And we had that basically in the first half.

Speaker:

Um, and then, yeah, Quinn Henicle gets some quality reps in game

Speaker:

against Georgia Southern's first team.

Speaker:

Uh, defense and that pays even more dividends down the road for you.

Speaker:

But I mean, Holden Brown got a snap last night, which was a little

Speaker:

bit of a fire drill, scramble, tossing the bright pink hat.

Speaker:

But man, uh, just everything about last night was, was awesome.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

So a couple other things to note, Isaiah page recorded his second

Speaker:

hundred yard receiving game in his career and on seven catches, uh, his

Speaker:

effectiveness all across the field was.

Speaker:

On full display last night.

Speaker:

Um, but most importantly, I think we threw a hitch to him early and how quickly

Speaker:

grant our Colton just looked his way and through it, there was no hesitation.

Speaker:

He was going there from the, from the jump and that lack of

Speaker:

hesitation is kind of what I think led to our more successful passing.

Speaker:

Um, cause you saw like before Colton started, we were kind of

Speaker:

hesitant to make those throws.

Speaker:

overthinking it and it allowed the defense to react.

Speaker:

That wasn't happening last night.

Speaker:

He was looking and throwing and just going.

Speaker:

Uh, it was Mike.

Speaker:

Oh, sorry about that, man.

Speaker:

But it was, it was everything that we've heard, all the anecdotes, all the things

Speaker:

we've, we've heard about Colton over the course of time, what the players

Speaker:

have said and how he plays and, and the nicknames that they have for him.

Speaker:

It's all starting to come together.

Speaker:

We're seeing what we had heard about.

Speaker:

And it can be a lot of fun.

Speaker:

And I think Colton even had a little bit of a regression in the last game, at least

Speaker:

in the passing attack, and he'd made up for it with his feet, made the plays.

Speaker:

We, we beat Texas state, but to see a quarterback come in, have like the

Speaker:

quick spike to playing well, regress a little bit and then go forward again.

Speaker:

Like that's what you want to see after a little bit of

Speaker:

regression in the passing game.

Speaker:

And I mean, There were probably some P4 coaches watching that game last night,

Speaker:

wondering how they missed on Colton, because I mean, he looked like he was

Speaker:

in running for the Heisman last night.

Speaker:

It was unbelievable.

Speaker:

Well, how many times did the commentators talk about how he was overlooked?

Speaker:

You know, his only offers were army or Navy or air force.

Speaker:

I'm thinking right now, those offers sound pretty damn good if you're

Speaker:

looking at what army Navy's doing.

Speaker:

Uh, but we're, yeah, obviously we're very fortunate to have Colton and.

Speaker:

The game is starting to come to them.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We've talked a lot about the offense, but, uh, how about the defense last night?

Speaker:

They didn't have to be on the field very much, but whatever we have figured out

Speaker:

in the secondary for disguising coverage, invading quarterbacks into throwing picks.

Speaker:

I, we haven't had a bad defense with Blake Sauer here.

Speaker:

You know, we've, we've always been above average or better, but they have stepped

Speaker:

into a completely different realm the last couple of weeks against some of the

Speaker:

better offering offenses in the country.

Speaker:

And I mean, Will Jones last night just perfectly baited a

Speaker:

guy into throwing interception.

Speaker:

They thought he was dropping in coverage.

Speaker:

He took half step back, came forward, the balls in the air picked off.

Speaker:

I mean, just the defense eight last night at every single level,

Speaker:

but that secondary is doing something really special this year.

Speaker:

Yeah, I think, um, I mean, it shows you, we talked about time of possession

Speaker:

for the last two seasons, right?

Speaker:

I mean, on this show, um, last night, we clearly came out strong.

Speaker:

We dominated time position in the first quarter.

Speaker:

I think it was like 11 minutes to two and some change.

Speaker:

Um, but that ability for the defense to rest after they forced three and

Speaker:

outs or They fought like it's just so valuable and it helps the defense.

Speaker:

And if they had their, one of their best games ever last night, and it's

Speaker:

because of that balance and being able to use the iPads on the sideline.

Speaker:

Now, if you give them more time on the sideline, they can look and diagnose

Speaker:

and see things that went wrong.

Speaker:

I mean, when the game was still in any kind of contention, they only got busted

Speaker:

on one play and it was a funky screen.

Speaker:

It was a good play call.

Speaker:

They executed it well.

Speaker:

Kind of created a tunnel screen on a slant route and it went for a touchdown.

Speaker:

But outside of that, in like meaningful playing time, aside from, for whatever

Speaker:

reason, calling a flea flicker and putting a trick play on film down 44 to seven.

Speaker:

I mean, the, the defense just gave nothing.

Speaker:

You might get a first down and woohoo, you celebrate and then

Speaker:

you're putting three plays later.

Speaker:

This team is dangerous.

Speaker:

Dangerous, very dangerous.

Speaker:

And, uh, what's up to you too, justice.

Speaker:

And Garrett, obviously, it was a lot of fun last night.

Speaker:

That middle of the field was, was big time.

Speaker:

Um, I still can't get over how balanced we were last night,

Speaker:

and it's running the ball.

Speaker:

I mean, Aaron Young with 77 yards, Colton with 77 yards, Bryce with 59 yards.

Speaker:

I mean, these guys averaged 5.

Speaker:

5, 8, 8.

Speaker:

6, 8.

Speaker:

4.

Speaker:

It was just like, no matter, it was just one shot after another.

Speaker:

It doesn't, I can't get much better than that.

Speaker:

No, it's a, it's a whole, we see games where we make the wrong call

Speaker:

and things might go a little haywire or maybe a couple of things go right.

Speaker:

And then you get that holding penalty that stalls you out.

Speaker:

But last night we were just pushing all of the right buttons at the right time,

Speaker:

and it results in the best win in a decade for ultimate in football at home.

Speaker:

On an important night, national television, uh, everyone is watching

Speaker:

cause there's only two, one other game on.

Speaker:

And we took that opportunity and did the best with it.

Speaker:

It's it's amazing.

Speaker:

Not only on national television, but it was a high stakes game for

Speaker:

both those teams, the team that won that game puts themselves in the

Speaker:

driver's spot for the conference.

Speaker:

I mean, obviously there's a ton of football left.

Speaker:

The season, the winner of that game controls its destiny.

Speaker:

We have not been in that sort of position in a very long time.

Speaker:

And these guys seize the moment and just, they took it from the

Speaker:

very beginning and they never,

Speaker:

they obviously did not let it, uh, out of their type type death group.

Speaker:

I don't know what the hell I'm saying.

Speaker:

I'm still excited.

Speaker:

So, I mean, we kind of, we were in that position last year and didn't realize it.

Speaker:

Right?

Speaker:

Because if we beat Coastal or beat JMU, it was just too early in the

Speaker:

process to realize that we had a chance for a conference championship.

Speaker:

But now we know where this is real and we took full advantage last night and Colton

Speaker:

Joseph is a star that everyone knows.

Speaker:

Huge

Speaker:

shout out to the coaching staff and all the other support staff that's

Speaker:

involved in putting that game together.

Speaker:

They basically lost two days of prep and we somehow look substantially

Speaker:

better playing on Thursday night.

Speaker:

And that is not easy to do, to get 115 guys to all go in the right direction

Speaker:

after maybe feeling a little bit overconfident after beating Texas state,

Speaker:

getting a little winning streak going.

Speaker:

They weren't, they were focused every time they hit the field.

Speaker:

It was like they, they needed to win this drive to win the game.

Speaker:

Uh, it was, it was just great to see that, but also on offense, like coach Decker,

Speaker:

I think has found the balance between how to trap the defense on the field and

Speaker:

go quickly, but also control the clock.

Speaker:

So we still weren't huddling.

Speaker:

We weren't giving the defense time to sub.

Speaker:

We were going to the line, putting them in position, and then we would sit back.

Speaker:

And I know that helmet communication going to Colton was probably going nuts.

Speaker:

Then it cuts off at 15 and they would stop again and go

Speaker:

to the sideline for the signs.

Speaker:

So we're able to take 30, 35 seconds off the clock, but not

Speaker:

let the defense do anything.

Speaker:

We basically get 30 seconds to study the defense and then go attack it.

Speaker:

And I think that is the biggest factor in us controlling the clock last

Speaker:

night, keeping the defense off the field, and just executing good plays

Speaker:

of finding a tempo that's fast, but still very accurate and effective.

Speaker:

And they did that with perfection last night.

Speaker:

So kudos to the coaching staff, uh, especially on the

Speaker:

offensive side of the ball.

Speaker:

And, uh, to even add more to that, we were making it easy for Colton to have a night.

Speaker:

Cause a lot of those throws were easy throws to be made just because of how

Speaker:

the plays were drawn up and there's no one in the area cause it's wide

Speaker:

open and right in front of your face.

Speaker:

You're right.

Speaker:

And the important thing is he hit those passes very, very early on a couple

Speaker:

of games ago, those, those passes might've been a little long or at the

Speaker:

feet, but last night he was pretty darn good with, with hitting those.

Speaker:

And he made a couple of really nice passes as well.

Speaker:

Very early in the game last night, he missed a Conroy throw that would

Speaker:

have probably been, went to the house, but the beauty of it is he just.

Speaker:

Collected himself and focused and kept his feet balanced on his throws remaining

Speaker:

in the game and didn't miss many moving forward instead of what 20 or 26.

Speaker:

Uh, just 26 or 27.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Just 20 and 26.

Speaker:

I mean, what a phenomenal, phenomenal game overall with zero interceptions as well.

Speaker:

And I don't remember seeing a single drop.

Speaker:

So credit to all the receivers for doing their job.

Speaker:

Cause I mean, we all, we all have seen it over the years.

Speaker:

It's it's not those easy passes aren't always easy to catch.

Speaker:

Hardest pass to catch is the one when you're wide open and can run for a

Speaker:

touchdown, because all you can do, you're trying to move your feet and

Speaker:

clap your hands at the same time.

Speaker:

Uh, I think Colton in the red zone was also really, really good.

Speaker:

I think a couple of his incompletions came in the red zone, but they were balls

Speaker:

thrown on like corner routes or fades to where your receiver is going to catch it.

Speaker:

Or it's going to go out of bounds and let's go back and try again.

Speaker:

I think.

Speaker:

We've seen some turnovers in the red zone historically where we rush a bad pass.

Speaker:

We try to just fit something through a tiny window over the middle.

Speaker:

Uh, but just making smart decisions in the red zone.

Speaker:

I know at halftime, I think we were what, five for five in the red zone

Speaker:

or shortly into the third quarter.

Speaker:

Yeah, you're not kidding.

Speaker:

They put that graphic up on the board and I think we were losing it.

Speaker:

I mean, on one side you had ODU and we were either four for

Speaker:

four or four or five of five.

Speaker:

I can't remember in the red zone with that.

Speaker:

four touchdowns and a field goal at Georgia Southern was zero, just

Speaker:

straight zeros all the way down.

Speaker:

I certainly can't remember.

Speaker:

I don't know if that's ever happened.

Speaker:

Um, since 2009.

Speaker:

But, um, yeah, I mean, Alex, you're Alec.

Speaker:

You're absolutely right.

Speaker:

We own that game from kickoff to end and Eva.

Speaker:

We agree.

Speaker:

Being able to chill in the fourth quarter was a nice feeling.

Speaker:

We've joked with each other that we single handedly or not we, but

Speaker:

ultimately in football single handedly put out, put some cardiologists

Speaker:

out of business this week because we're all able to just kind of enjoy

Speaker:

a lot of that game and not be super stressed out.

Speaker:

Um, I want to highlight a couple moments.

Speaker:

There was two plays that I'm remembering where Colton gets

Speaker:

flushed out of the pocket and he's trying to make a play on his feet.

Speaker:

One, he finds peanut Houston.

Speaker:

The other, he finds Patrick Conroy to extend the drive.

Speaker:

And obviously for these receivers, they know if they keep their heads up and they

Speaker:

keep moving, they can still make a play.

Speaker:

Even if the line, the line, is losing that battle on that snap.

Speaker:

And that's going to be so big for our offense.

Speaker:

These receivers know, Hey, I just keep playing.

Speaker:

I'm going to have a chance to make a big play here.

Speaker:

And both in both instances, peanut makes it a big play.

Speaker:

And so is Conroy.

Speaker:

Um, and that's just the dynamic that colds bring into this offense.

Speaker:

It's just so fun to watch because a play is never dead with this kid.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You can tell those guys have been working on the scramble drill and practice.

Speaker:

Cause you could see when things did break down, you see them run their route

Speaker:

and they look back to see where Colton is rolling to, and they start rolling

Speaker:

to that side of the field and they're losing guys in coverage left and right.

Speaker:

Uh, I thought peanut ran some amazing routes last night.

Speaker:

I think it was the second touchdown catch.

Speaker:

He kind of ran that in route right along the backside of the end zone.

Speaker:

And that was.

Speaker:

Just perfect.

Speaker:

Ran the route to perfection.

Speaker:

Was right there, basically at the goalpost.

Speaker:

Colton hit him pretty easily right over the middle.

Speaker:

Uh, but I think Colton's best play of the game actually came later.

Speaker:

I think the game was out of reach, but it was the cherry on top of a

Speaker:

nearly perfect offensive performance.

Speaker:

And that was his rushing touchdown.

Speaker:

We were clearly in in some kind of run there.

Speaker:

We wanted to move some clock and Georgia Southern with about maybe 1517 on the

Speaker:

play clock brought that corner back in to basically right on the end of the line.

Speaker:

That move should have blown up that play.

Speaker:

It should have, but Colton the postgame press conference.

Speaker:

He knew that he was hot on that.

Speaker:

He saw the cornerback there, looked right at him.

Speaker:

He sold the handoff on the read option so well, had his back to

Speaker:

that side of the field and spun out and just took off down the field.

Speaker:

And by the time the cornerback figured it out, Colton's five yards downfield

Speaker:

splitting the safeties into the end zone.

Speaker:

I mean, that's one of those plays like you see it develop and you're

Speaker:

like, Oh crap, this thing is going to get dropped in the backfield.

Speaker:

Colton's going to get smashed or, you know, it's going to be

Speaker:

a one yard run up the middle.

Speaker:

But for him to see that, recognize it, know we need to really sell that handoff,

Speaker:

and then go for touchdown, like, that is him being super, super comfortable,

Speaker:

uh, there running that offense, and understanding it, understanding the

Speaker:

defense, just full of confidence, and he was strutting his way into the endzone.

Speaker:

I know Justice had a pretty good video, uh, you know, damn

Speaker:

it feels good to be a gangster.

Speaker:

I'm sure that's exactly what he was thinking, rolling into the endzone.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

I want to go back to this offensive line because we've seen a lot of

Speaker:

injuries on the line so far this season.

Speaker:

I mean, you got Santana who's down right now.

Speaker:

You got Hoskins who's down right now.

Speaker:

Again, next man up mentality is at full effect on this offensive line.

Speaker:

Skylar Grant comes in and another smooth performance for the O line.

Speaker:

Obviously, Colton's feet are helping a lot with us being able to do this.

Speaker:

But, I mean, You can't be upset with anything last night other than

Speaker:

maybe some special teams issues.

Speaker:

And there weren't a ton of those.

Speaker:

Well, uh, yeah, they're kind of work.

Speaker:

I'm so, I'm so happy that things are just being iced over.

Speaker:

We did have some issues punting the ball.

Speaker:

We had some issues with some snaps.

Speaker:

Fortunately, you know, you can learn and grow in an ass whooping of another team.

Speaker:

You know, so they weren't overall, they, you know, they didn't

Speaker:

change the course of the game.

Speaker:

Those are things obviously in the next eight days that the team

Speaker:

will work on to get better in.

Speaker:

But uh, it's wonderful to be able to learn in that sort of situation.

Speaker:

I'm excited to have a little extra time because When Ricky has

Speaker:

extra time, he seems to deliver.

Speaker:

So I know it's only two days, but still, it's we'll get there.

Speaker:

We'll get.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So what?

Speaker:

Well, I was going to say, so we know that this coaching staff does really

Speaker:

well after a bye week, and now they do really well in a short week.

Speaker:

Should we just play on like Thursdays and then have bye weeks every other?

Speaker:

Because if they need less time and more time, I mean, that seems

Speaker:

to be the magic trick for us.

Speaker:

Give Bruce Stewart a call up and see if he can manipulate this on it.

Speaker:

Um, yeah,

Speaker:

maybe, maybe we play thursday, saturday, thursday, saturday,

Speaker:

thursday, saturday, all season long.

Speaker:

If we keep winning, we might have that schedule next year anyways, because

Speaker:

you're going to play more midweeks if you, if you're very good, right?

Speaker:

Better than playing on a Wednesday at Kennesaw State.

Speaker:

Well, not if you're Kennesaw State, if you're that other team,

Speaker:

you don't want to be doing it.

Speaker:

Yeah, double field storming Wednesday night was very fun to see.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Um, yeah, last time was so much fun.

Speaker:

Um, I don't know why everyone left early.

Speaker:

I guess Friday's a work day, but that place was empty in the fourth quarter.

Speaker:

That happened once we sealed the game against Texas State, too.

Speaker:

People started rolling out.

Speaker:

Like, I wanted to soak in every moment of that game last night.

Speaker:

It's not guaranteed.

Speaker:

And we should know that better than any other fan base in the country right now.

Speaker:

And that's what is so confusing to me about people leaving early.

Speaker:

I, if you've got to go back to Nova Richmond, I get it, but.

Speaker:

For us, you got young kids.

Speaker:

I get, I get that too.

Speaker:

No school night, but if you're a grown ass men like us, come on man,

Speaker:

stick around for the extra 20 minutes.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's not guaranteed because we've seen how long it took to get back

Speaker:

to this point to being competitive.

Speaker:

It's been a long road to be here to get here.

Speaker:

We haven't been this competitive since 2016.

Speaker:

I mean, last year we were competitive, but you know, uh, That's a long time, man.

Speaker:

Why are you leaving early?

Speaker:

Soak it in.

Speaker:

Enjoy the moment.

Speaker:

Because you don't know what's going to happen the rest of the season.

Speaker:

I mean, we've suffered a lot as a fan base over the last, like, seven or eight years.

Speaker:

Through bad seasons, bad games, blown leads.

Speaker:

Like, you suffer through that so you can go and enjoy the moments like last

Speaker:

night and Saturday against Texas State.

Speaker:

So, I don't get it.

Speaker:

And plus, you missed one of the best moments of the night if you did not stay.

Speaker:

Through the two minute timeout in the fourth quarter, because Isaiah page

Speaker:

got lifted up by a bunch of offensive linemen for the Simba cam and it

Speaker:

didn't get shown on the video board.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I know Brian Parsons from wavy got video of it.

Speaker:

I got video of it from the stands, but it was funny.

Speaker:

They held him up there for like 90 seconds of the TV timeout.

Speaker:

And you could just tell those guys were having a blast on the

Speaker:

sideline and it's nice to see them happy after a game and not like.

Speaker:

stressed and worried and thinking, Oh crap, practice is

Speaker:

really going to suck tomorrow.

Speaker:

No, they get to, they get to go enjoy a couple of days and then get

Speaker:

right back at it to go to App State.

Speaker:

But it was, it was a party at Ballard, like from the middle of the third

Speaker:

quarter through the end of the game.

Speaker:

And it was so much fun.

Speaker:

And, uh, speaking of in game entertainment.

Speaker:

Bring back the Chug Cam.

Speaker:

That was great.

Speaker:

We need more of that.

Speaker:

I'm hoping that dude Scotch guarded his shirt though, because a whole hell of a

Speaker:

lot of it did not make it down inside.

Speaker:

He had to do some explaining when he got home, I'm sure,

Speaker:

but it was probably worthwhile.

Speaker:

I mean, if you're gonna do it, do it on the video board.

Speaker:

Honey, why do you smell so much like beer?

Speaker:

Oh, Gary spilled it on me.

Speaker:

I wasn't drinking.

Speaker:

Honey, you smell like a brewery.

Speaker:

What's going on?

Speaker:

I was speaking of breweries.

Speaker:

It was great to see Josh from afterglow before the game yesterday.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Um, always fun seeing those, those guys.

Speaker:

Um,

Speaker:

Alex.

Speaker:

Oh yes, students killin it every game.

Speaker:

And the beauty of this, that moment last night of us kicking their ass,

Speaker:

we're, we got to be creating more fans for the future with the season.

Speaker:

We gave them a great show.

Speaker:

They left happy.

Speaker:

Um, this is how you create fans with games like that.

Speaker:

Absolutely.

Speaker:

And we had a comment a few minutes ago from Jay Reynolds.

Speaker:

He was talking about, it's great to finally bring some friends to the

Speaker:

game and have that kind of experience.

Speaker:

So Bring those friends back, get them to buy season tickets.

Speaker:

That's how we grow the fan base.

Speaker:

And there are a lot of tickets for the JMU game on the secondary market

Speaker:

that are really cheap right now.

Speaker:

And as we get closer to that game, they may get more expensive.

Speaker:

So if you got friends that are coming or you want them to

Speaker:

come, go grab those tickets now.

Speaker:

Don't let them go unused because it's sold out through the normal

Speaker:

like first market channels.

Speaker:

Go get those tickets now.

Speaker:

Bring a couple of your friends at JMU game, because I think that's

Speaker:

going to be a very fun game for us.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Um, sorry.

Speaker:

I'm looking up TFLs from last night.

Speaker:

I was about to check my work from when I heard that.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

I heard that dog.

Speaker:

That's the TFL.

Speaker:

Dong.

Speaker:

Don't say dong too many times.

Speaker:

Oh, we've got explicit lyrics.

Speaker:

It's okay.

Speaker:

We're going to start popping up in different algorithms.

Speaker:

You keep that up.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Does anyone have the total TFLs for last night?

Speaker:

I, I, I don't.

Speaker:

I gotcha.

Speaker:

It was one, one tackle for a loss and a split between Seth and EJ.

Speaker:

And that's because the defense weren't on the field enough.

Speaker:

That right there is a future trivia question.

Speaker:

You see a score like this, a defensive performance like this, and you're go,

Speaker:

Oh, they had, they had more than one.

Speaker:

There's like five.

Speaker:

They had like, yeah, seven.

Speaker:

Angelo Rankin forced more fumbles than we had tackles for a loss because

Speaker:

he forced two fumbles last night.

Speaker:

That's when they should have used that damn video last night

Speaker:

instead of the mixed extra point.

Speaker:

I really liked that they used that for the mixed extra point.

Speaker:

But that was the first time an ODU player had two forced fumbles since 2018.

Speaker:

And that was O'Shane Zemanes against VMI in that blowout

Speaker:

game where we closed Ballard.

Speaker:

I hear that right.

Speaker:

Ximena's guy was pretty good too.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

That's what I've heard.

Speaker:

He did do it two other times in his career.

Speaker:

So

Speaker:

pretty damn good player.

Speaker:

Not bad.

Speaker:

He should have played in the league.

Speaker:

Right.

Speaker:

Should have.

Speaker:

Um, yeah, I'm just, I don't know.

Speaker:

I want to just, I don't want next week to come because it's because of how

Speaker:

good this moment feels and how good yesterday felt, but I can't wait to

Speaker:

watch this team back to field again and see if they can build on this and just.

Speaker:

Keep putting Sunbelt on notice.

Speaker:

Before we do that, Mike, we probably want to do a couple of things.

Speaker:

One thing, talk a little bit about the before game stuff.

Speaker:

The other thing is maybe take a super fast break for the pride.

Speaker:

I mean, if you guys are done talking about last night, sure.

Speaker:

We can talk about last night forever.

Speaker:

18s flew down Kaufman mall.

Speaker:

That's when I knew the game was over last night.

Speaker:

Dude, the vibes on campus pregame were immaculate.

Speaker:

We saw so many friends of the podcast yesterday that it's going to be hard to

Speaker:

name them all, but it's just so cool.

Speaker:

The community we're building and.

Speaker:

The people we've come in contact with over the years through this podcast.

Speaker:

And it just made yesterday even more special than it was.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I mean, it's, I mean, there, there was, I don't even know.

Speaker:

It was, it was awesome.

Speaker:

I'm still, I'm still so shocked that I got handed a beer from the Czech

Speaker:

Republic yesterday after having just got back from the Czech Republic and

Speaker:

drinking that same beer too much of it.

Speaker:

Um, so what was your stomach's reaction when you saw that beer?

Speaker:

Well, I immediately texted my wife and I got cool emojis because you guys know that

Speaker:

in my family, my wife is the, uh, I'm the little girl when it comes to drinking.

Speaker:

I like shit that's sweet and, you know.

Speaker:

We'd have umbrellas and my wife will take the beer and make me look bad.

Speaker:

So I was actually pretty happy to see it, believe it or not.

Speaker:

By the way, Aaron, you can buy that at total one.

Speaker:

Yeah, I heard in Harris Teeter as well.

Speaker:

Yeah, it's everywhere.

Speaker:

Uh, we got to meet Thomas DeMarco yesterday.

Speaker:

I talked to him for a minute and he told us a really interesting moment.

Speaker:

Uh, he's there hanging out with Polisco and he says, what, I don't know if this

Speaker:

story is true, but he told it to us.

Speaker:

He said when he was being recruited by ODU.

Speaker:

They're like, we got this other guy that is a punter.

Speaker:

We're not sure of how good he is.

Speaker:

So we'd love for you to come in and punt for us.

Speaker:

That other punter happened to be Jonathan Plusco.

Speaker:

So thank goodness that guy's a hall of famer.

Speaker:

So we could have another hall of famer playing quarterback for us.

Speaker:

Great meeting him yesterday.

Speaker:

That was awesome.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Um, uh, we might have to, uh, revisit that conversation at some point with those guys

Speaker:

and let them hash it out for the fans.

Speaker:

Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to, uh, yeah.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So pregame festivities, drone show.

Speaker:

I don't, did the parachuters ever come or did that get waved off?

Speaker:

They, they got waved off.

Speaker:

So I guess the winds between where they jump at 5, 200 and

Speaker:

like 2000 feet were pretty gnarly.

Speaker:

So they, they did wave it off, um, which I'm not the one jump out of the plane.

Speaker:

So if they're telling me they shouldn't jump, then I kind of

Speaker:

trust their judgment on that.

Speaker:

Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker:

Safety is the most important.

Speaker:

Um, FAA teams are really cool.

Speaker:

We barely got to, got to the coffin mall to see that we literally walked up

Speaker:

and it happened, but that was awesome.

Speaker:

Great seeing the military at the march and surrounding the players.

Speaker:

Um, yeah, just history was cool.

Speaker:

The, the ODU military alumni chapter had a tailgate on Kauffman Mall.

Speaker:

That's where I was at for a good bit pre game.

Speaker:

I think they ended up with like 100, 125 people that came out for that.

Speaker:

Plus, you know, all the other military that was there on Kauffman Mall.

Speaker:

And the cool thing about the F 18 flyover, and I've watched it close to,

Speaker:

uh, Quinn Henicle's dad in the bar labs.

Speaker:

Is the players were actually excited about it because normally they don't

Speaker:

see that normally they're still in the locker room and they hear it, but they

Speaker:

don't, they don't get to experience it.

Speaker:

So yesterday, the F 18s waited until coach Ronnie was leading the team across coffin

Speaker:

mall, and he was right about the seal.

Speaker:

The F 18s flew over.

Speaker:

So the players are pretty juiced up, uh, just the whole atmosphere there.

Speaker:

The whole pregame atmosphere was, was pretty incredible.

Speaker:

Like really great job by that staff that puts all of that together and makes

Speaker:

all those crazy things on the field.

Speaker:

Pre game happened.

Speaker:

Um, love integrating the military band into our band for the national anthem.

Speaker:

Just some some amazing things pregame that the drones show was awesome,

Speaker:

but also slightly terrifying.

Speaker:

I think we'll hear more about that in a little bit.

Speaker:

And yeah, and the whole the whole military appreciation thing, which,

Speaker:

you know, being being a veteran, um.

Speaker:

It's great to see, but I would love to see more of that.

Speaker:

Get, get those, get those guys and gals out to the games.

Speaker:

There's no reason why we cannot get more of them to the games.

Speaker:

Cause just like the students, they're probably going to be the

Speaker:

next rowdiest group of folks to be making noise and get into the games.

Speaker:

I will, I think we need to try to grow that partnership.

Speaker:

I will say this.

Speaker:

So what.

Speaker:

On Monday, they had the Ricky Ronnie coaches show from the Eisenhower.

Speaker:

Uh, I went on Twitter, checked it out, Chowda Hill, which is the

Speaker:

commanding officer of the Eisenhower.

Speaker:

It's pretty funny on Twitter, but someone asked him like, Oh, so

Speaker:

are we rooting for them this week?

Speaker:

I'm from Georgia.

Speaker:

So I was thinking Georgia Southern.

Speaker:

And he goes, no, we're running for the hometown team.

Speaker:

We're Monarchs this week, having a guy like him and his whole, if

Speaker:

he can get his boat on our side, how many people, I mean, how many

Speaker:

people are on an aircraft carrier?

Speaker:

Well, right now, since they're pier side and they don't have their, their

Speaker:

carrier air wing, it's, you know, probably a couple of thousand, a lot,

Speaker:

a lot of, and imagine if we had a couple more thousand there last night.

Speaker:

Kind of my angle with it is, um, you've got a lot of, you know, young

Speaker:

men and women who are away from home.

Speaker:

They're by themselves, especially during this time of year, you start

Speaker:

to get closer to the holidays and they don't necessarily have a place to land.

Speaker:

You know, we used to try to take those sailors and we bring them

Speaker:

into our, you know, our homes for Thanksgiving or whatever.

Speaker:

So create this environment where they've got kind of that home away from home.

Speaker:

Who doesn't go to a football game or a basketball game?

Speaker:

I didn't, at least for me, I know I go.

Speaker:

And for that two, three hours, I don't think about a lot of things that are

Speaker:

stressful outside, you know, in your regular life, like that part of the

Speaker:

brain gets turned off and you just get encapsulated into that, you know?

Speaker:

So I would love to see more, more of that.

Speaker:

And really like Ricky says, we don't have to be your number one.

Speaker:

No people coming from all over the country.

Speaker:

We're happy to be the number two for you.

Speaker:

So come out, make some noise.

Speaker:

I mean, from personal experience, I grew up in Hawaii, but the

Speaker:

university of Hawaii would give tickets to military families a lot.

Speaker:

So I grew up rooting for the rainbow warriors.

Speaker:

Because it was really cool.

Speaker:

I could, we could ride the bus.

Speaker:

Me and my sister could go on games on our own.

Speaker:

Cause I mean, you ride the bus downtown, it takes 10 minutes.

Speaker:

It was cool, but it was because of that outreach to the military that we

Speaker:

became fans of them and rooted for them.

Speaker:

Uh, I want to, I want to note something.

Speaker:

Alec Geiss is a.

Speaker:

Talented photographer for Old Dominion, and he's in the chat right now.

Speaker:

I'm excited to see these F 18 pics.

Speaker:

I haven't seen him yet, but wanted to note that while his comment

Speaker:

is on the screen right now.

Speaker:

They were showing a lot of infographics on the scoreboard last night.

Speaker:

When we were in the TV timeouts with like military facts for

Speaker:

Hampton roads and for ODU and like the numbers were really awesome.

Speaker:

I think it was like 5, 000 ODU students had been active duty military.

Speaker:

Uh, but the one that got me is 20 percent of the population in Hampton

Speaker:

roads is affiliated to the military in some way, like active duty,

Speaker:

retired reserve families of military.

Speaker:

I mean, that's 20 percent of a pretty large Metro area.

Speaker:

That's a huge market to go try and capture.

Speaker:

And if you start kind of building that with all right.

Speaker:

People that are a year in the military, two years, three years,

Speaker:

the people that you're talking about, Aaron, that are here by themselves,

Speaker:

they end up staying here long term.

Speaker:

You've created a lifelong fan, just like you would an ODU student

Speaker:

or an alum or someone like that.

Speaker:

So it's making, putting in that hard work now to get them invested.

Speaker:

And I think catering to them quite a bit, like we did last night was, was awesome.

Speaker:

But that's your backup fan base right there.

Speaker:

Like that's your supplementals, uh, for, for these games.

Speaker:

Cause it's, it's a lot of fun.

Speaker:

It's also a recruiting tool for the university because a lot of these

Speaker:

Service members are going to go to college after they get out or

Speaker:

while they're while they're serving.

Speaker:

If they have a connection to ODU like that, the likelihood that

Speaker:

they go to ODU is even higher.

Speaker:

So it just makes sense all around to welcome in the military, treat them

Speaker:

right, and build this fan base up because it's the smartest thing to do.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And I'll give a shout out to Harry McBrien, who is a monarchist key

Speaker:

member in our group and a partner.

Speaker:

He put so much of that last night together, uh, from the flyovers to, uh,

Speaker:

the military alumni chapter tailgate and everything else coordinating.

Speaker:

Uh, he's, he's done a lot of work to get ODU close to the military and

Speaker:

you can, you can see the results.

Speaker:

And also Harry's just awesome.

Speaker:

If you didn't watch the podcast episode last week.

Speaker:

So before we go to break Scott Sawyer's just asked any injuries

Speaker:

last night, the most obvious injury last night was Jalil Colbreath.

Speaker:

Who, uh, after he went to the locker room, I mean, I guess before

Speaker:

he went to the locker room, they brought out a cart for him and he

Speaker:

goes, no, I'm not riding on that.

Speaker:

I'm walking off this field, which shows his toughness, but he walks the locker

Speaker:

and comes back out with his sling.

Speaker:

So we're assuming it's probably a shoulder separation or something like

Speaker:

that, but we're wishing the best for him.

Speaker:

Um, I didn't see any other, uh, notable injuries during the game.

Speaker:

I mean, I think, uh, Devin Roche was limping a little bit and, and

Speaker:

Miles Alston looked like he had something going on with like his,

Speaker:

his right oblique or something, but.

Speaker:

You know, other than my voice and then a handful of livers from, uh,

Speaker:

from some extra at Pilsner's there, I think we seem to come out pretty good.

Speaker:

I mean, obviously a huge win.

Speaker:

And we had we had some major players who didn't play, obviously.

Speaker:

Jason Henderson has been out of Santana was looking sweet on the

Speaker:

sidelines with the shades at night.

Speaker:

I mean, that's that's a great look, by the way.

Speaker:

Um, you know, so, like we said earlier, I don't think last night

Speaker:

could have gone any better, though.

Speaker:

I will say I'm a little concerned about Jalil's injury, given how many injuries

Speaker:

we have in the linebacking room right now.

Speaker:

It's stacking up and, uh, gauge shores did come in and play well in his relief.

Speaker:

But Jalil has been a playmaker all season and not having him on

Speaker:

the field is going to be a loss.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Hopefully, hopefully it's, uh, I mean, I agree with you, Mike, watch it.

Speaker:

It'll come off.

Speaker:

That's just the, uh, the non doctor and me, the web MD kind

Speaker:

of, uh, look, but hopefully it's strain or something like that, but

Speaker:

who knows?

Speaker:

It's probably a multiple game kind of thing.

Speaker:

It looked a lot scarier at first because he went down, everyone was waving for

Speaker:

the training staff and they immediately went and got the air cast back.

Speaker:

That's the bigger red bag that you see come out there.

Speaker:

A lot of times it's like a stretcher or something like that.

Speaker:

Anytime you see that you get a little nervous that there's

Speaker:

like a bad break or something.

Speaker:

Uh, clearly there wasn't, he walked off and he was just in the

Speaker:

sling and his left arm, you know, clearly upset that he got injured.

Speaker:

Uh, but I was happy to see him get up and walk off when I saw that air

Speaker:

cast bag go out at the beginning.

Speaker:

Uh, but let's talk a little bit about the injury situation and just,

Speaker:

The facts of what we know, right?

Speaker:

So Jason Henderson, it came out, was announced that he's going to red shirt

Speaker:

this year, uh, so you can play four regular season games and still red shirt.

Speaker:

He played at South Carolina.

Speaker:

He has not played since we have a bi week before our final

Speaker:

three games of the season.

Speaker:

So I think we can all be hopeful that maybe we see some Jason

Speaker:

Henderson during those three games.

Speaker:

Uh, Jalen Butler, who is someone we've, we had been missing all season, both in run

Speaker:

blocking, but also in the pass catching game, you know, Pat Conroy has done an

Speaker:

amazing job and it's just grown so much.

Speaker:

Uh, but he's going to be in the same boat, but he did not play at South Carolina.

Speaker:

So if, if he ends up taking a red shirt year, he could come back and

Speaker:

play as early as next week at app state and still preserve his year, uh,

Speaker:

conference championship games and bowl games do not count towards your four.

Speaker:

So we don't know if either one of those guys are going

Speaker:

to be back anytime soon, but.

Speaker:

If you were thinking through it from a red shirting standpoint, it's possible

Speaker:

that we could see them and they still don't burn that red shirt here.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Um, thank you for going over that real quickly, Gary.

Speaker:

I think this is a perfect time for Aaron to play the ad

Speaker:

and let's take a break quick.

Speaker:

I got it.

Speaker:

And as we're going to that ad, hell yeah.

Speaker:

Volleyball up.

Speaker:

And Field Hockey won their game, they clinched their, their, they're

Speaker:

going to the Big East Tournament.

Speaker:

So, way to go Field Hockey.

Speaker:

This episode of the Monarchist Podcast is brought to you by

Speaker:

Thank you for listening and go Monarchs.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

This weekend, Old Dominion football takes the trip to Appalachian state to

Speaker:

play in Boone against the Mountaineers.

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

Hold on.

Speaker:

Before we move on, we do have some callers.

Speaker:

Do we want to hit them first?

Speaker:

Because they're reacting to this past week.

Speaker:

And some of them are in the chat.

Speaker:

They are.

Speaker:

Um, all right.

Speaker:

I was on a roll there.

Speaker:

I know.

Speaker:

I'm sorry.

Speaker:

I didn't want you.

Speaker:

I didn't want you to get all the way through.

Speaker:

So, I'm going to, I'm going to repitch.

Speaker:

We're back.

Speaker:

We're back.

Speaker:

Alright, monarchs.

Speaker:

After this resounding win over Georgia Southern, we ask fans to call us

Speaker:

in and we got some awesome calls.

Speaker:

We have to start with.

Speaker:

No, wrong logo.

Speaker:

We need to start with the Duke of Discipline.

Speaker:

He is back.

Speaker:

Throw that logo up there.

Speaker:

All right, let's hear Garrick's call.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Wow, surprised I remember the number.

Speaker:

Uh, sorry, fellas.

Speaker:

Uh, just living on a high over here.

Speaker:

Uh, absolute butt kicking last night.

Speaker:

And, um, want to say probably our best complete game, uh, all around.

Speaker:

Uh, let's clean up that.

Speaker:

Blocked extra point though.

Speaker:

Uh, other than that, I'm just really happy to see this is what happens when

Speaker:

you use the middle of the field uh Just absolutely love it at a high great

Speaker:

atmosphere Uh military appreciation.

Speaker:

Thank you.

Speaker:

Everybody who served our country od.

Speaker:

You did it right last night Uh, let's just make sure we have a better turnout.

Speaker:

Uh, this team is is showing out every week Uh, jmu game Uh, hopefully it's

Speaker:

a night game in my opinion, looking at the schedule looks like it might be.

Speaker:

So let's go, let's keep this train moving and rain on.

Speaker:

Thank you so much for calling in, Garrett.

Speaker:

We're happy to hear from the Duke of Discipline again.

Speaker:

Uh, and you're absolutely right.

Speaker:

Fans need to jump on board now.

Speaker:

It's not too late to be on the bandwagon.

Speaker:

But you're coming around for Marshall.

Speaker:

You're like, all right, I'm ready.

Speaker:

We're going to call it out.

Speaker:

You weren't here for JMU.

Speaker:

Where the hell were you?

Speaker:

Come out, be loud, support this team.

Speaker:

We got an opportunity to do something really cool this season that no

Speaker:

one expected when we were 0 3,

Speaker:

but we're here, we're doing it.

Speaker:

jump on board, have a blast.

Speaker:

This is fun football.

Speaker:

The defense is lights out.

Speaker:

We got a quarterback who's got the Manziel celebration down and he's

Speaker:

just making plays every which way.

Speaker:

So just come out and enjoy the game.

Speaker:

This is, this is what college football is all about.

Speaker:

This is about having fun.

Speaker:

Speaking about having fun in college football, that is a

Speaker:

great segue to our second call.

Speaker:

Hey guys, Justice here.

Speaker:

Friday morning.

Speaker:

Just, I'm so jacked up still from last night.

Speaker:

What an amazingly awesome night.

Speaker:

If folks, if you missed it, as a Monarch fan, shame on you, because it was,

Speaker:

I haven't had this feeling in a long time, but it was just an awesome night.

Speaker:

Yeah, Thursday night, National TV, first place in the Sun Belt, an amazing halftime

Speaker:

drone show that was just spectacular.

Speaker:

And then to top it off.

Speaker:

The Monarchs just play lights out on both sides of the ball, get the wind

Speaker:

and, and, uh, hold the, um, the driver's seat, so to speak, for, for the Sunbelt

Speaker:

East, if they can just keep it up.

Speaker:

But, uh, yeah, awesome night.

Speaker:

Go Monarchs.

Speaker:

Our boy Justice, he hooked us up with the shine last week, the apple pie moonshine.

Speaker:

But I run into Garrick yesterday who hands me a bottle of clear shine.

Speaker:

So I am on a two week streak of getting shine at the tailgates.

Speaker:

I need it to be week three at the GMU game.

Speaker:

So if anyone's out there that has some shine and you're looking to

Speaker:

share it with someone, find your boy.

Speaker:

Cause I need to keep the streak going because we don't know all

Speaker:

the weirdness that's going on.

Speaker:

We have a lot of streaks going on.

Speaker:

Gary keeps doing the post games.

Speaker:

Yeah, I have mixed feelings.

Speaker:

About that, but I respect the streak and I respect the unwritten rule.

Speaker:

We have more unwritten rules than baseball.

Speaker:

You were in the press conference room before the players

Speaker:

were out of it last night.

Speaker:

Like as soon as they stood up, boom, here comes Aaron running in.

Speaker:

How's the press conference?

Speaker:

I'm, I'm out on the field.

Speaker:

This is killing me.

Speaker:

Mike, Mike is laughing because he knows how much I love to be in there.

Speaker:

But, like I said, man, it's only weird if it doesn't work, so I'm out on the field,

Speaker:

you know, slapping hands, high fives and shit, but I've got my AirPods in and

Speaker:

I'm watching, I'm watching the postgame presser from like 20 feet away, and going,

Speaker:

damn, you know, but, um, you said, it's only weird if it doesn't work, right?

Speaker:

And the funny thing about it is, no, Eric Bohan and all those guys know what

Speaker:

the rule is, that they're not gonna see Mike and Aaron again, hopefully.

Speaker:

Uh, For the rest of the season.

Speaker:

I mean, that would be the goal.

Speaker:

Hopefully they don't see us again until like 2027.

Speaker:

Well, does that rule go Pat over seasons or is it, it goes until it ends.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

We're going to need him to come down to every basketball game too.

Speaker:

Cause if it keeps going between sports as well, someone's going to need to get me

Speaker:

a helicopter coming down from Richmond.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Obviously that's not going to work for Richmond.

Speaker:

Maybe it's only games that Gary's at.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

We'll worry about that shit at some point in the future, but right now

Speaker:

I'm not going to mess with that.

Speaker:

Um, so as excited as justice was about the drone show, not everybody was, or

Speaker:

it's going to lead into our next caller.

Speaker:

Uh, Hey guys, this is, uh, CB Wilkins, the co host of the Hudson homers podcast.

Speaker:

I noticed you guys don't ask me to come on and talk about football.

Speaker:

Uh, which is probably smart because my, my football commentary is, uh, as

Speaker:

in depth as sometimes they play good.

Speaker:

And sometimes they should play better, uh, but, you know, I mean, amazing game.

Speaker:

I've been at all of them there on the field level.

Speaker:

It was just, uh, ridiculous.

Speaker:

Just, they came out and punched him in the mouth and just kept punching.

Speaker:

And it was a lot of fun.

Speaker:

Uh, I will say my, my one big gripe from the game, I don't

Speaker:

understand why everyone's so excited about this drone show.

Speaker:

Uh, people were just like, Oh, the drones.

Speaker:

And I was like, I was in the media room at halftime and everybody, Oh, you

Speaker:

got to get there and watch the drones.

Speaker:

And like, I don't look, man, you know, I was like, I walked by the field where

Speaker:

they're all sitting there and it's like, you know, 70, 000 of about how many

Speaker:

drones there were, there were a lot.

Speaker:

Uh, and, and to me, it's just terrifying.

Speaker:

You know, frankly, we got A.

Speaker:

I.

Speaker:

Is taken over.

Speaker:

Let's be real in like five years when Skynet goes live and all these

Speaker:

drones are shooting us from the sky.

Speaker:

It's not going to be cute that one time they spelled out 757 in the sky.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

That's all I'm saying.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

You guys take care.

Speaker:

Go monarchs.

Speaker:

I'll be back.

Speaker:

I'll note this by the time we have Skynet active.

Speaker:

We're gonna have Boston Dynamic Robots playing Linebacker.

Speaker:

Oh, that doesn't sound very fun.

Speaker:

It's not when Skynet goes active, it's when it becomes aware that is the problem.

Speaker:

So it can go active, you just can't let it go aware.

Speaker:

That's when Arnold pops in my door.

Speaker:

I have mixed feelings on the drone show.

Speaker:

It's definitely cool that they're doing it and all that.

Speaker:

Uh, but I'd rather just hear the explosions of fireworks, personally.

Speaker:

I will say the big blue face logo that they put up there was probably the most

Speaker:

impressive thing I've seen in a while.

Speaker:

That was cool.

Speaker:

I would have preferred Gary, if you could have used, uh, yours or your

Speaker:

lovely bride's it skills to have manipulated that QR code to send people

Speaker:

to our YouTube channel and subscribe.

Speaker:

Shameless plug.

Speaker:

You've got to work on the next time.

Speaker:

Did you see the comment I put on the screen?

Speaker:

It says the helicopter to write off from PS2.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

It's awesome.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'll give it to you guys here.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Drone show is cool, but it was I prefer fireworks.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

And CB, we appreciate CB.

Speaker:

All the awesome photos you see at ODU Monarchist dot com come from CB.

Speaker:

He's co hosting with me for Hudson Homers for ODU Baseball

Speaker:

and another shameless plug that will be back within about a month.

Speaker:

So get ready.

Speaker:

Awesome.

Speaker:

All right, fellas, we have one last call.

Speaker:

I'm going to play that for you right now.

Speaker:

Hey guys, uh, Justice again here.

Speaker:

This time I'm joined by some special friends.

Speaker:

Got a special message.

Speaker:

To the millions and millions of college football fans, can

Speaker:

you smelalalalalalalalalalala

Speaker:

what the Monarchs are cooking?

Speaker:

Let me ask you a question.

Speaker:

Are you ready?

Speaker:

It doesn't matter if you're ready.

Speaker:

Let me tell you something, brother.

Speaker:

The question is what you're going to do when Monarch nation runs wild on you.

Speaker:

Uh,

Speaker:

justice with an absolutely bonkers call.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

Uh, I'm also in honor of justice and his car right there.

Speaker:

I'm gonna start calling everyone brother.

Speaker:

That's right, bro.

Speaker:

There you go.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And when Mike asked us, yeah, we'll just wait when, when we get

Speaker:

to predictions for next week, let me tell you something, brother.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Oh, I w I was ready to rip my shirt off, but I just got this

Speaker:

at the bookstore on Saturday.

Speaker:

So, or on Thursday.

Speaker:

So no, no thanks.

Speaker:

I'm not ripping this bad boy up.

Speaker:

So not yet.

Speaker:

Not yet.

Speaker:

We just got these bad boys.

Speaker:

So, um, All right, I'll be ready to move on to Boone.

Speaker:

So I'm going to try to get going again, get back to that place I was a minute ago.

Speaker:

All right, let's get you hyped up, Mike.

Speaker:

All right, come on, come on, come on.

Speaker:

Hope we didn't, we didn't mess up your good take.

Speaker:

This is the good take, even though we're live tonight.

Speaker:

At 2.

Speaker:

30 PM in Boone, North Carolina, Old Dominion is going to take on Appalachian

Speaker:

State to maintain their hold of first place in the Sun Belt East.

Speaker:

Uh, Appalachian State comes in this game, Sunbelt.

Speaker:

Uh, big shocker, uh, we talked about it, I mean, we talked about it on the

Speaker:

show last week, but I also talked about it with Danny Reed on how the Sunbelt

Speaker:

East is just kind of flipped on its head right now, and it's because of the

Speaker:

pre season hype surrounding Appalachian State, uh, they are struggling right now.

Speaker:

They're 2 in the conference, uh, looking at PFF, their offense is rated

Speaker:

slightly, like, around where we are.

Speaker:

We're not near the top because of all those slow games we had moving

Speaker:

up before Georgia Southern, but their defense is porous at best.

Speaker:

And this is an opportunity for Colton Joseph and this offense to continue

Speaker:

the show after a nice extended rest.

Speaker:

Yeah, I'm curious.

Speaker:

I'm definitely gonna be watching their game on Saturday against Georgia State.

Speaker:

Uh, I know it's on ESPN Plus, uh, 1 o'clock kick on Saturday.

Speaker:

If you're an ODU fan, you should definitely tune in and get a,

Speaker:

get another look at App State.

Speaker:

But, you know, if the season ended today, just like everyone predicted,

Speaker:

uh, ODU would be playing Louisiana Monroe for the Sun Belt title.

Speaker:

So to say it's turned on its head would be a little bit of an understatement because

Speaker:

I think we were picked fifth and they were picked to finish last in the West.

Speaker:

I was gonna say, you guys are Vegas, guys.

Speaker:

What?

Speaker:

What's the odds on that game would have been at the beginning of the

Speaker:

season that that game would be it.

Speaker:

That one, if you had, if you had that, Oh, do you?

Speaker:

You'll I'm in the conference title game.

Speaker:

You'd have retirement money.

Speaker:

Yeah, I mean, that's 10 10, 000 to one most likely if you did the exact

Speaker:

that I don't think anyone offered it.

Speaker:

But if somebody out there is holding a U.

Speaker:

L.

Speaker:

M.

Speaker:

O.

Speaker:

D.

Speaker:

U.

Speaker:

Sunbelt ticket, congratulations and feel free to give to the pride of O.

Speaker:

D.

Speaker:

U.

Speaker:

And I'll collect some of your winnings.

Speaker:

I'd also like to allow us to do this as a living.

Speaker:

I'd also suggest we take it.

Speaker:

I also suggest you cash that out right now because ULM's

Speaker:

final stretch of the season is not easy by any means.

Speaker:

I mean, this week they play Louisiana, so their road gets

Speaker:

a lot tougher moving forward.

Speaker:

However, ours, I don't know.

Speaker:

I feel amped up about this team and where we can go with a offense.

Speaker:

that is starting to match how great this defense has played all season long.

Speaker:

Well, honestly, I don't even think it's about who we're playing.

Speaker:

If our team continues to play the way it is and it's capable of,

Speaker:

they can compete with anybody.

Speaker:

They just got to keep doing what they're doing, especially in this last game where

Speaker:

it's really all started to come together.

Speaker:

Finally,

Speaker:

And yeah, I, I don't really know what to think about app state.

Speaker:

Like it would think be easy to say that they're done at this point.

Speaker:

I mean, they got blown out by South Alabama on a Thursday night at home.

Speaker:

Uh, they went up to Marshall and gave up a bunch of points and lost that game.

Speaker:

They lost to Louisiana down in Lafayette.

Speaker:

I think they are going to get some juice on Saturday for the first game

Speaker:

back in Boone since the hurricane and the impact that that had on

Speaker:

Boone and all the surrounding areas.

Speaker:

Like I think there's going to be, I think they're going to be amped

Speaker:

up to, to go and win that game.

Speaker:

And that could be the final nail in the coffin for Georgia state as well.

Speaker:

So I'm, I'm kind of glad we're not that game, but it's going to be

Speaker:

interesting to see if this is app state kind of getting their thing, right.

Speaker:

And they're going to start playing more of what we thought they would be.

Speaker:

Or I mean, if they drop another one, I think they're, they're pretty

Speaker:

much mailing it in at this point.

Speaker:

So watch that game on Saturday.

Speaker:

I think that's going to tell you a lot about what our game will

Speaker:

look like the following week.

Speaker:

I, I'm, uh, I think at this point, given his contract situation and how they

Speaker:

performed in the last couple of years, there's a good chance that we might be

Speaker:

the dead count bounce for Appalachian state if they don't win this weekend.

Speaker:

Could be.

Speaker:

Because, you know, They have high expectations down and been very high

Speaker:

expectations and they're funneling all their money to football.

Speaker:

Um, they will not deal well with a two and five start and a loss

Speaker:

to Georgia Southern or Georgia State and Owen for in the Sunbelt.

Speaker:

I don't,

Speaker:

I remember them talking for any coach at App State to survive.

Speaker:

Like you said, I mean, they just got such a history of

Speaker:

sustained superior performance.

Speaker:

Um, Their fans have like, no tolerance for results like that.

Speaker:

And I remember them, when we beat them last year, their fans calling

Speaker:

for his head, after that game.

Speaker:

It's not gotten better since then.

Speaker:

No, because those hopes were sky high coming into this year and

Speaker:

they have fallen very, very flat.

Speaker:

Uh, this is another opportunity for us to go exercise some demons.

Speaker:

We've, we've been doing that this year with beating Texas State

Speaker:

by more than one possession.

Speaker:

We take a big lead in the game last night and we not only hold on to

Speaker:

it, we expand it and shut it down.

Speaker:

I know at halftime, I was not the only one thinking about some toast

Speaker:

bowl that we were in last year.

Speaker:

But, knock that out real quick to start the third, we have never really

Speaker:

played a competitive game in Boone.

Speaker:

I mean, we've had some of our worst games in ODU history down there

Speaker:

in Boone, just never competitive.

Speaker:

I think, we made it two years ago, we made a good comeback in the fourth

Speaker:

quarter, we were down some guys, played a little more evenly, but we were

Speaker:

never in a position to win that game.

Speaker:

So it's an opportunity to go and check another one of those boxes off of, all

Speaker:

right, yes, we beat app state last year.

Speaker:

Now let's go down to Boone and get a win.

Speaker:

So it's just a, a good carrot to dangle for the guys of you can

Speaker:

be the first OD team to go down here and win and then maintain.

Speaker:

That swag of being number one in the East.

Speaker:

Like these, these guys have some confidence now and you're

Speaker:

seeing it translate to the field.

Speaker:

You're also seeing it with picking guys up.

Speaker:

Like Seamus had two of the worst punts of the season last night, back to back.

Speaker:

The third one, he absolutely hammered and coach Ronnie was running out to him

Speaker:

on the field, like they had just won the national title and the whole team

Speaker:

was coming with them and I just tells you where they're at from a culture

Speaker:

standpoint in that locker room to a picking guys up who are not having a good

Speaker:

day and erasing their mistakes like that.

Speaker:

Defense.

Speaker:

Just basically snuffed out the two bad punts and we were good.

Speaker:

Hey, uh, on the same note, after I think it was maybe the second bad punt

Speaker:

he had, we were sitting right on the 50, thanks to our awesome bank truest.

Speaker:

They did not pay for that, but they paid for the tickets last night.

Speaker:

And we were, Seamus comes off the field.

Speaker:

He's got his head hung low and he had a whole gang of teammates greeting

Speaker:

him after he had that bad punt.

Speaker:

And I think that is even more important than him being celebrated.

Speaker:

We did step something right because his teammates are picking

Speaker:

them up when it didn't go right.

Speaker:

And that is the type of teammates that you need when you're going through a tough

Speaker:

season where every game is going to be a battle, because that's what the Sun Belt

Speaker:

is every game is going to be a battle.

Speaker:

Before last night I had a talk with another ODU fan and go, how many games do

Speaker:

you think are going to be favored in and the whole discussion was hard, like just

Speaker:

trying to figure out like, Maybe Marshall.

Speaker:

Uh, I don't know.

Speaker:

Like now that's changed obviously for the week, but then a week later that could

Speaker:

change back to where it was last week.

Speaker:

Like we're, who knows?

Speaker:

So being picked up when you fail by your teammates, it's

Speaker:

just a beautiful thing to see.

Speaker:

And I'm glad our team was doing that for Seamus last night.

Speaker:

It's a happy locker room.

Speaker:

And I don't think they practiced today because some of the coaches

Speaker:

were going to be hitting the to, uh, go and recruit early this morning.

Speaker:

But man, it's really fun to win on a Thursday and you just get to enjoy

Speaker:

everyone else's misery for the rest of the weekend, watch them sweat and struggle.

Speaker:

Oh, I'm going to be kicked back with two TVs and the Octobox

Speaker:

going on all day on Saturday.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Well, before we go deeper into this Appalachian state game,

Speaker:

what games do you got circled on Saturday, Gary?

Speaker:

I'd love to hear it.

Speaker:

And if any of the fans that are watching has a game that

Speaker:

they're suggesting we watch.

Speaker:

Drop it in the chat.

Speaker:

Uh, well, I'll start with one tonight.

Speaker:

UNLV Boise State is going to be pretty awesome game.

Speaker:

Uh, so if you're, if you're looking for something to do after this, uh,

Speaker:

that game will be on here in a little while, but I've got to pull up, uh,

Speaker:

the old picket app here to tell you what I'm really after this weekend.

Speaker:

Um, I, I kind of want to see, uh, Arkansas State put Troy down for good.

Speaker:

So I think I'm going to tune into that Sunbelt matchup.

Speaker:

Basically in Troy season.

Speaker:

I get a little advanced scout on the Red Bulls for the final game of the year.

Speaker:

Really good call by Alec here.

Speaker:

Navy, Notre Dame, that's a big one.

Speaker:

That's, that's my game.

Speaker:

And then, being in Norfolk, we're all rooting for Navy to kick their ass.

Speaker:

and keep this amazing season going for, for the midship in,

Speaker:

uh, go Navy, beat Notre Dame.

Speaker:

We all want to see Notre Dame lose as many games as possible, but maybe being on the

Speaker:

other end of it, that would be so cool.

Speaker:

I'm rooting for the chaos that an undefeated Navy and an undefeated army

Speaker:

will do to the college football playoff.

Speaker:

Cause that, that would be a lot of fun to watch them play in the American

Speaker:

championship for, A spot in the, in the playoffs in the following week, play

Speaker:

army Navy, and you watch two teams.

Speaker:

One of them has already in the playoffs play the hardest they've

Speaker:

played all season in that game.

Speaker:

And then go to the playoffs and probably beat somebody.

Speaker:

That would be so crazy.

Speaker:

Make it so.

Speaker:

All right, Alec, what is he got here?

Speaker:

Uncle's class of 81.

Speaker:

Naval Academy is family and home to me.

Speaker:

Very cool, Alec.

Speaker:

Uh, go Navy.

Speaker:

G5 Hive, Justice is backing you up on your UNLV Boise State game, Gary.

Speaker:

Uh, I'm, I'm kind of interested to see how Vanderbilt does

Speaker:

hosting Texas this weekend.

Speaker:

Vandy and the points.

Speaker:

Well, we could get a transitive win over Texas, Gary.

Speaker:

We technically have one over what?

Speaker:

Bama and Georgia.

Speaker:

So, right.

Speaker:

Give me Texas, please.

Speaker:

What could have been in Columbia?

Speaker:

What could have been in Columbia?

Speaker:

The chaos season that we're in right now, you all I'm in first place.

Speaker:

Vanderbilt, a top 25 team.

Speaker:

How can you just not love this?

Speaker:

It's it's chaos and it's great.

Speaker:

It's you just don't know what's going to happen Saturday to Saturday.

Speaker:

And we've had some incredible games across the board.

Speaker:

Like I'm thinking, you know, after the Georgia State game, I was in

Speaker:

a bar watching, it was Ole Miss.

Speaker:

LSU, like Ohio State was playing Oregon.

Speaker:

You're getting these, these matchups that are just unbelievable

Speaker:

coming down the final play.

Speaker:

You sit back sometimes, just remember that college football is a lot of fun.

Speaker:

Even if your team loses, it's still more fun than probably

Speaker:

anything else you're gonna do.

Speaker:

Um, another game.

Speaker:

I love SEC football, obviously for my background, but LSU, Texas a and m at

Speaker:

Texas a and m, that could be a lot of fun.

Speaker:

And then their fan base is just interacting.

Speaker:

It's just so funny to me.

Speaker:

Because the Cajuns on the bayou are just so fun.

Speaker:

And the folks texting them are kind of buttoned up.

Speaker:

So them just interacting for a game is just funny to me.

Speaker:

The cult versus the Cajuns.

Speaker:

Yeah, wouldn't you want to just be there to watch?

Speaker:

Like, people watch that?

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

And eat all the good food.

Speaker:

Because you're either having barbecue or Cajun food and you're not going to

Speaker:

miss either one with those fan bases.

Speaker:

You had me at food.

Speaker:

Um, I don't know about the ACC what they got going on this

Speaker:

weekend, but nothing Important.

Speaker:

Oh that that's another thing.

Speaker:

I want to talk about now that we've got almost 200 people here on the live

Speaker:

There is uh some incorrect information going around about the college football

Speaker:

playoff and how those top four seeds are determined the four teams That get a bye

Speaker:

Uh, it does not automatically go to the champions of the power for conference.

Speaker:

It goes to the four highest ranked conference champions.

Speaker:

So on almost every year, that's going to be your P4, right?

Speaker:

But there's some funky stuff going on in the big 12 where

Speaker:

that could not be the case.

Speaker:

So I just want to get rid of that narrative.

Speaker:

Cause I hear people like analysts on ESPN talking about, Oh, it's always

Speaker:

going to be the power for power for, no, it doesn't have to be like

Speaker:

Boise state could sneak in there.

Speaker:

If they go and win tonight, the UNLV, cause they almost beat Oregon.

Speaker:

Like they could, they could pop in there, talk about Navy.

Speaker:

If they go undefeated, they could be higher ranked.

Speaker:

Then maybe there's a four loss team that wins the big 12.

Speaker:

Like they're going to get in that by first.

Speaker:

So just want to throw that bit of actual information out there.

Speaker:

Uh, and so if you want a G5 team to get a buy, you would be rooting

Speaker:

probably for Boise tonight.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So I guess back on focus.

Speaker:

Appalachian state.

Speaker:

What can you tell me this year?

Speaker:

I'm Gary.

Speaker:

You're our, our guy that does the research.

Speaker:

Most of like I am, I am the gut guy and Aaron is just our positivity.

Speaker:

That's right, man.

Speaker:

I just dice chicken bones, having a good time and, and.

Speaker:

You know, color inside the lines.

Speaker:

So Gary, what can you tell us about this athletics day team and, uh, maybe

Speaker:

try to explain what is going wrong other than their defense sucking.

Speaker:

I haven't been able to do the good deep dive research yet.

Speaker:

I just got back home today.

Speaker:

We kind of had a big night last night.

Speaker:

I don't know if anyone heard about that.

Speaker:

Um, but there, they just seem like they're playing whack a mole like

Speaker:

one week, their defense is good.

Speaker:

The next week their offense is good, but they're not playing

Speaker:

anywhere near their expectations.

Speaker:

Uh, they're, they're really not rushing the ball right now.

Speaker:

Like I think they get in like 4.

Speaker:

3 yards of carry, which isn't terrible, but against some of

Speaker:

the teams they've played, that should be substantially higher.

Speaker:

Uh, they're turning the ball over a ton.

Speaker:

They've thrown 11 interceptions already this season.

Speaker:

They're just, something is just wrong on that offense.

Speaker:

Uh, they are struggling in the trenches too, especially on the offensive line.

Speaker:

It seems like that's probably where the problems start for their offense, but.

Speaker:

They just, they've had some guys not pan out this year that I think they were

Speaker:

hoping to hit on in the transfer portal.

Speaker:

And they just haven't been as good as they thought.

Speaker:

Um, but they are better than their record currently indicates.

Speaker:

And they have more talent on that roster than what they're showing.

Speaker:

So don't go in and check the box and think it's going to be a win just because

Speaker:

we played really well the last two weeks and may have been in the doghouse.

Speaker:

Uh, they're just something, something's not right there.

Speaker:

And it could start with like, they're allowing 45 percent

Speaker:

of third down conversions.

Speaker:

That's a big, big one, uh, for their opponents.

Speaker:

Especially when you look at some of the teams they've

Speaker:

played haven't been that great.

Speaker:

They're giving up five and a half yards per carry on the ground.

Speaker:

Uh, and I think in the passing game too, they're allowing 13 yards per catch.

Speaker:

So, so a lot of problems.

Speaker:

They are, they are rated the worst team in cover pass coverage.

Speaker:

In the Sunbelt on PFF, Georgia Southern.

Speaker:

Wasn't too much better.

Speaker:

If I remember actually Georgia Southern is fourth.

Speaker:

Oh, not anymore.

Speaker:

Last night, they were the issue with Georgia Southern.

Speaker:

It was not their coverage.

Speaker:

Their issue was their hash rush is one of the worst in the league.

Speaker:

They also stopped blitzing last night because they didn't.

Speaker:

They kept, they got tired of getting burned and tried to rush three,

Speaker:

drop eight, and it did not work.

Speaker:

Um, the other issue with Appalachian state, other than coverage looks to

Speaker:

be, they're tackling, they're one of the worst tackling teams in the league.

Speaker:

Um, not really a great combo.

Speaker:

If you can't cover and you can't tackle leads a lot of, uh, big place.

Speaker:

The way that we've been running the ball, not tackling well, it's

Speaker:

going to lead to a recipe for.

Speaker:

Not good stuff.

Speaker:

If they do that, well, the little part about it is if you

Speaker:

can't cover, you can't tackle.

Speaker:

I mean, it takes two of the biggest things out of the game,

Speaker:

but you have to try to stretch your defense a little bit differently

Speaker:

to make up for those issues, right?

Speaker:

But for a team like Old Dominion, where we can run the ball and then when we

Speaker:

suck you in with the run, we'll just throw it over your head down the middle

Speaker:

of the field like we did last night.

Speaker:

There's only so much you can do to help out the coverage

Speaker:

and the bad tackling issues.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And I wanted to, before I said this stat, I wanted to go back and make sure

Speaker:

it's good because I had not checked it from their game last week, but it is.

Speaker:

They are horrendous in the first quarter.

Speaker:

They're being outscored 75 to 13 in the first quarter.

Speaker:

Uh, they've given up, uh, 77 in the second, but their offense, that their

Speaker:

offense's best quarter is the second they've scored 69 points there this year.

Speaker:

So they kind of start behind the eight ball and they have to throw a lot.

Speaker:

And, uh, and if justice is pointing this out, their offensive

Speaker:

line is not where it should be.

Speaker:

So a repeat of our approach to Georgia Southern was punch them in the mouth

Speaker:

early and just keep scoring points.

Speaker:

Uh, it could be another recipe for success down there in Boone

Speaker:

because that's a rough go for their offense in the first quarter with 13

Speaker:

points at this point in the season.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I hope that's not a stat that we're like we've last week with

Speaker:

Texas state where like We dominated them in the first half and we shut

Speaker:

them down in the first quarter.

Speaker:

And we flipped that on Ted, right?

Speaker:

I hope that is not a stat that we flip on its head because that's how you let leave

Speaker:

the door open for a team like Appalachian state, because they do have a lot of

Speaker:

talent and they should not be this bad.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

And you don't want this Georgia state game to be the get right game.

Speaker:

And then all of a sudden, like the app we expected is who we face down there.

Speaker:

But yeah.

Speaker:

I will not be predicting that this game is a route like I did for Georgia Southern.

Speaker:

This is going to be a, this is going to be a fight.

Speaker:

Um, I think anytime you go play down in Boone, you're just, you

Speaker:

squeak out with a one point win.

Speaker:

You will gladly take it, get on the bus and drive however many

Speaker:

hours to the airport to fly home.

Speaker:

So that's another thing that we should talk about.

Speaker:

Obviously this area has been wrecked with flooding and the hurricane.

Speaker:

And a lot of stuff is just upside down.

Speaker:

Prayers all the people in that area.

Speaker:

I hope they can figure a way through this and sorry for all the losses

Speaker:

that In your neighborhoods and but I know there's a lot of hotels have

Speaker:

just been Destroyed in this storm.

Speaker:

Where the hell are we staying?

Speaker:

I'm guessing you're gonna have to stay an hour and a half or two hours

Speaker:

outside at least because it was It's hard to stay there in general on a

Speaker:

game day, you know, uh, so it you're probably doing some driving Yeah, I

Speaker:

know historically we do not stay in Boone for the night before the game.

Speaker:

Like I, I want to say we stay in Greensboro and then bus over the day

Speaker:

of either Greensboro or Charlotte.

Speaker:

So might explain why we've played for there.

Speaker:

That's a long bus trip before you have to get loose and play a football game.

Speaker:

Part of that home field advantage, man.

Speaker:

There are a couple of those spots like that.

Speaker:

And the Sunbelt like Southern Miss is another one.

Speaker:

They're an hour from Biloxi.

Speaker:

I think there's like one hotel in, uh, In, in town that like I could actually

Speaker:

host a football team and it's like one big meeting room and that's everything.

Speaker:

All your meetings, all your meals, everything has happened in that one room.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We talked about that with Monroe.

Speaker:

So the nearest hotel for teams to stay at to Monroe is 45 minutes outside of Monroe.

Speaker:

And the, uh, locker room at the stadium only accommodates for 50 guys at a time.

Speaker:

So the teams have to go, they have to go in, in, in phases to get

Speaker:

changed and get ready for the game.

Speaker:

And then at halftime, you're not all in the locker room because

Speaker:

you can't all fit in the locker.

Speaker:

How was that not an FBS requirement?

Speaker:

Uh, they, they were so many stupid requirements, stupid

Speaker:

requirements that NCAA has.

Speaker:

But something like that, no.

Speaker:

Well, I mean, the same reason we don't, we, we got rid of the

Speaker:

attendance rule because if you actually enforced it, you'd be losing these

Speaker:

teams that these conferences need.

Speaker:

So half a conference USA and a lot of the Mac.

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

That was, I got a look at the visitor locker room at Bowling Green and it

Speaker:

reminded me of like a high school gym.

Speaker:

It's just kind of all cinder block walls on the inside.

Speaker:

And I know if you watch the post game press conference video,

Speaker:

I know you didn't listen to it because I couldn't hear anything.

Speaker:

I was standing a foot away from coach Ronnie.

Speaker:

Uh, I can smell that locker room without ever walking in it just

Speaker:

from memories of high school.

Speaker:

If they made that into like a, uh, air freshener hang tag in your car, you would

Speaker:

bring back so much PTSD for some guys who got like rolled up and wrestling

Speaker:

mats and stuff or crashed on the floor.

Speaker:

And that's the first thing I smell when they came to is that awful gym smell.

Speaker:

Thank you for the memories and the bonus edition of Staff Infection.

Speaker:

It's like wet socks and ass.

Speaker:

If this was a movie, my light would start flashing.

Speaker:

I'm going back to the high school days where I'm walking in after a

Speaker:

three a day, just beating up and sweating out 20 pounds of water

Speaker:

again

Speaker:

after drinking out of a water hose all day.

Speaker:

Yeah, scouts enter the chat.

Speaker:

Scout has entered live and Lenny both of them get it.

Speaker:

Dogs.

Speaker:

We ordered Indian food and it apparently is here.

Speaker:

Your dogs are very excited about hope you got him some non.

Speaker:

Hey, they're just doing their job protecting this house.

Speaker:

Just like our defense has been doing all season.

Speaker:

Very nice.

Speaker:

Mike.

Speaker:

I like that.

Speaker:

I don't know if the defense has been getting enough credit this

Speaker:

year for how well they've played.

Speaker:

Other than Coastal, they've been great in every game.

Speaker:

And obviously, Virginia Tech, the dam broke, but, you

Speaker:

know, it wasn't their fault.

Speaker:

No, we were in that in the fourth quarter because of the defense.

Speaker:

Like, they just keep rolling dudes out there.

Speaker:

Like, I'm having to look at the roster to, like, double check that someone had

Speaker:

a number change, like, who was out there.

Speaker:

And there's just no drop off in play, like for Georgia Southern to score

Speaker:

that touchdown against kind of our reserve secondary, they had to draw

Speaker:

up like a perfect fade route with a perfect throw and a perfect catch.

Speaker:

Like, that's the only way they scored on those guys.

Speaker:

And I think those were some like walk ons and guys that.

Speaker:

May not have even touched the field this year, and they're still giving Georgia

Speaker:

Southern Hell all the way down the field.

Speaker:

It's Coach Siler, enjoy them while you can.

Speaker:

That's the beauty of it.

Speaker:

We talked about it before we started.

Speaker:

They had basically four plays that accounted for almost all of their yards

Speaker:

last night, but almost every catch they made had to be a miraculous catch

Speaker:

because of how good the coverage was.

Speaker:

There was like three catches that I saw them make.

Speaker:

There was like,

Speaker:

That's a pretty damn tough catch to make like that's almost a play of the

Speaker:

game type of catch Just to get seven yards like yeah, it's unbelievable.

Speaker:

And we just unfortunately we weren't sweating any of them

Speaker:

It was like, all right, whatever And I know Georgia Southern fans are not

Speaker:

super happy with clay Helton because of the things you pointed out with Mike

Speaker:

and just collapsing Down the stretch.

Speaker:

Yeah, if you want to be mad at him for another reason putting a flea flicker on

Speaker:

video You Down 44 to seven and celebrating like you on the national title.

Speaker:

Come on, buddy.

Speaker:

Like, come on, really?

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

First thing I said to Aaron is I can't believe they blew a

Speaker:

waste of the trick play there.

Speaker:

Like, what are you doing?

Speaker:

The game's over.

Speaker:

They were, that's where they were.

Speaker:

That's, that's how down bad they were last night is they had to go to that.

Speaker:

It was well executed.

Speaker:

So I'll give them that.

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

The screen they ran for the long touchdown for the first touchdown was a good point.

Speaker:

That was nice.

Speaker:

It was well designed, well executed, and, you know, we sent the house

Speaker:

blitzing, which, I love us blitzing.

Speaker:

You're gonna get caught occasionally on that, but Yeah, an old boy

Speaker:

squirted through and he was fast.

Speaker:

God, yeah, he had some wheels.

Speaker:

That was a white boy, right?

Speaker:

Dallas?

Speaker:

Yup.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah, he was well blocked, too.

Speaker:

Are you sure he wasn't our number 11?

Speaker:

He only plays special teams now, Aaron, so I know, but, I mean, he was so fast.

Speaker:

Yeah, you gotta practice better, I guess.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Holden Brown.

Speaker:

Holden Brown got a snap at quarterback last night, so, uh, chat before we do

Speaker:

this, any predictions for this weekend?

Speaker:

If you add them now, we'll talk about it.

Speaker:

Let's hear.

Speaker:

I mean, for app state, sorry, not this week.

Speaker:

I was going to say,

Speaker:

let's say what day is it?

Speaker:

It's Sunday.

Speaker:

I'm confused.

Speaker:

This is crazy.

Speaker:

I'm confused.

Speaker:

I remember when we first started, we were doing episodes on Thursdays.

Speaker:

Oh yeah.

Speaker:

Cause we were trying to do that, like visitor Q and A thing.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

And now we're, we're doing an episode on Friday.

Speaker:

This is wild.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

John wants to know, I'm going to put this comment up.

Speaker:

It says what remaining games are must wins to guarantee a bowl appearance?

Speaker:

Uh, John, that's a good question, but I think it's a long question.

Speaker:

This team is focused on winning a Converse Championship.

Speaker:

We're not worried about a bowl right now.

Speaker:

We're worried about winning a Converse Championship right now.

Speaker:

Hell yeah, Mike.

Speaker:

But, must wins.

Speaker:

Uh, I think you got to look at the two weakest teams left on our schedule.

Speaker:

What, how they've performed through this point of season.

Speaker:

Uh, and I, I think it's A State, Arkansas State.

Speaker:

We got to win there.

Speaker:

That would suck to have to win that game to go to a bowl.

Speaker:

I'm tired of having to win the last game to go to bowl games.

Speaker:

I want to have more than six before the last week.

Speaker:

Well, and the other was probably app because I mean, they

Speaker:

are two and four right now.

Speaker:

This is where my head's at Mike.

Speaker:

Ricky gets a couple extra days here.

Speaker:

We talked about this a little earlier when he has extra time.

Speaker:

They're usually fruitful results.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

So we go down to app.

Speaker:

We get that win.

Speaker:

We keep this momentum going.

Speaker:

And then we get number six against the team that everybody wants to see.

Speaker:

That's what it needs to be.

Speaker:

And we freaking put our elbow on those dudes.

Speaker:

And we give our fans something to be happy of because they've just continually

Speaker:

been beat down the last few years there.

Speaker:

And John, that is a fair point that we have not won more

Speaker:

than gone over 500 since 2016.

Speaker:

I get it.

Speaker:

I get it.

Speaker:

But this team is different.

Speaker:

I think the best thing we can do is just get bowl eligibility out of the way.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Weeks.

Speaker:

We talked about the end of last season, beginning of this season, like, the

Speaker:

sixth win to be bowl eligible should be a woohoo, great, cool, alright,

Speaker:

what else do to go win the East?

Speaker:

We're actually in that situation now.

Speaker:

So, go down and beat AAP, beat the shit out of JMU at home.

Speaker:

We get to celebrate the rivalry win.

Speaker:

We got our sixth win and then we go have a slug fest with Marshall.

Speaker:

Who's going to win.

Speaker:

And we get a bi week before JMU, right?

Speaker:

We, yes.

Speaker:

And that's what I'm saying.

Speaker:

Two extra days for app and then a bi week for JMU.

Speaker:

We need there.

Speaker:

What's Ricky's record after a bi week?

Speaker:

A hundred.

Speaker:

No, four.

Speaker:

No.

Speaker:

So, yeah, I think it's the next two games.

Speaker:

When the next two games take the stress off of thinking about

Speaker:

bowl game and then just focus on weighing division after that.

Speaker:

And then, and then we can go with the dice roll going to Jones Jonesboro the

Speaker:

Saturday after Thanksgiving, if we can make that game not matter for the Sunbelt

Speaker:

East standings, then we're in business.

Speaker:

Think about how loose the dudes would be able to play that road game.

Speaker:

Oh, but should be RIP from all right.

Speaker:

Then I have another question before we get to, uh, predictions chat.

Speaker:

This is for you.

Speaker:

Last week we interviewed Danny Reed.

Speaker:

Midweek.

Speaker:

Uh, I thought it was an enjoyable discussion about football,

Speaker:

learning about the opposition.

Speaker:

He had me shook for a minute.

Speaker:

He, he almost sent made me believer in Georgia Southern, but we showed

Speaker:

pretty early on and he's, he's a company man that is just a pro.

Speaker:

Would you like us to continue doing video Q and A's moving forward?

Speaker:

Let's see your answers.

Speaker:

If not, we won't do them.

Speaker:

But, uh, we tried to add a little gravitas to how big of a

Speaker:

game that was yesterday for us.

Speaker:

And I'm wondering what the feedback is because we haven't had any.

Speaker:

John liked it.

Speaker:

So we got one.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

If that's the response I get, uh, all right.

Speaker:

Justice is a thousand percent.

Speaker:

Yes.

Speaker:

So I feel like justice is a little bit biased from the G5 hive.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We're going to need to find someone from Appalachian state to talk some football.

Speaker:

There's quite a few of them out there.

Speaker:

Some of them are pretty good.

Speaker:

We're we're lucky in the Sunbelt.

Speaker:

There's actually some pretty dedicated fans that have like podcasts like this,

Speaker:

or they're really invested in their team.

Speaker:

I know Kara over at Arkansas state.

Speaker:

I think she's the only person I know at Arkansas state, other than

Speaker:

like that one Red Bulls fan guy.

Speaker:

But Kara is awesome.

Speaker:

She might be one of the best in the league, honestly.

Speaker:

Yeah, we'll definitely have Kara back cause, uh, we just like talking to her.

Speaker:

G5 hot is suggesting David Ware.

Speaker:

I don't know, dude, where, but.

Speaker:

We have some other app state contacts that would probably be perfect for

Speaker:

this, and we'll try to get them on.

Speaker:

Uh, all right.

Speaker:

Predictions.

Speaker:

Who wants to short straw to go first?

Speaker:

Aaron's been in Europe, so he's got to go first and he's got to get his

Speaker:

hype before I let us down or will I?

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

You guys want me to go first?

Speaker:

I mean, I'm perfectly willing to do it.

Speaker:

I've done.

Speaker:

Lots of evaluation.

Speaker:

I've thought about this a lot, so I'm ready if you guys are ready.

Speaker:

Yeah, I got some bookers to drink and some Grateful Dead to listen to.

Speaker:

Cuz, rest in peace, Phil Lesh.

Speaker:

You're the best.

Speaker:

Oh, yeah.

Speaker:

Alright, before, before I give this shameless plug.

Speaker:

Thank you for everybody that's tuned in right now.

Speaker:

If you have not subscribed to our YouTube channel, we put that in the chat.

Speaker:

Please go over there, subscribe to it.

Speaker:

It doesn't cost you anything.

Speaker:

It helps us out.

Speaker:

It helps the pride of ODU out.

Speaker:

Um, it helps us to be able to bring this sort of stuff to you guys.

Speaker:

So thank you very much.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

As for the prediction for next Saturday's game, I'm not going to say

Speaker:

what I really think is going to happen because I believe in Doing what I

Speaker:

need to do to keep this thing going.

Speaker:

I don't know that I really think it's going to be a three point game.

Speaker:

Ethan Sanchez, 50 yard field goal, wins this game because

Speaker:

I'm not screwing this streak up.

Speaker:

Book it.

Speaker:

Aaron, the lack of belief in your voice and your delivery there has me concerned.

Speaker:

Um, I would love to hear your deep down gut prediction and feeling on this.

Speaker:

Seriously?

Speaker:

It's an aside.

Speaker:

It's not your real predictions.

Speaker:

Ethan Sanchez, it's booked.

Speaker:

It is what it is.

Speaker:

But what is your deep down gut telling you is going to happen in this game?

Speaker:

Honestly, I think this Things are coming together for this team.

Speaker:

They're really starting to hit on all cylinders.

Speaker:

Colton is clear that he's starting to become more comfortable with

Speaker:

each and every snap that he has.

Speaker:

This team has big time belief in him.

Speaker:

You can see that on the sidelines and the defense is just so damn consistent.

Speaker:

Other than the one game we talked about.

Speaker:

And they've been able to do it with so many different players.

Speaker:

So things are just aligning so well.

Speaker:

And just like before with all the one score games of being the streak

Speaker:

and not being able to go away from the trend, the trend has changed.

Speaker:

Like we've seen that if you're a stock guy and you're looking at the chart, the chart

Speaker:

looks different for old median right now.

Speaker:

So I would, I would say that it's not going to be a one score game.

Speaker:

We'll win this game, you know, by.

Speaker:

1014 points, which is App State on the road.

Speaker:

I mean, I think that's what it's going to end up being.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Beautiful.

Speaker:

Gary, what do you got for us?

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

It's an early prediction because I do want to watch them on Saturday.

Speaker:

And maybe I change some a couple of things around, but not the answer.

Speaker:

So the stat that I go back to for App State is they are averaging one in a third

Speaker:

sacks per game, eight total on the season.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Gary.

Speaker:

And almost all of those came in like one or two games against

Speaker:

pretty inferior competition.

Speaker:

Um, they can't rush the passer.

Speaker:

They can't get sacks.

Speaker:

Colton Joseph is going to have time to pick apart defenses.

Speaker:

We're gonna be able to run if they drop too much in coverage.

Speaker:

Like I, I, I don't see a way that the offense doesn't just dominate.

Speaker:

I'm not worried about our defense.

Speaker:

Our defense is going to do their thing.

Speaker:

They're going to, they're, they're doing their best to hold teams under

Speaker:

20, cause that's apparently what they do in the Sunbelt over the last two games.

Speaker:

Uh, I, I think that this is close early and distant late and ODU by 17.

Speaker:

I love that pick.

Speaker:

I am not, I'm going to keep staying away from predicting points,

Speaker:

uh, but I'm going to continue saying what I really believe.

Speaker:

Keep playing great defense.

Speaker:

Keep running the ball down their damn throat.

Speaker:

Make the plays when they're there in the passing game.

Speaker:

Keep it clean on penalties and flags.

Speaker:

And we went as simple as that.

Speaker:

Play a clean game.

Speaker:

Stay true to what we are, or we stay committed to the run no

Speaker:

matter what, and we win this game.

Speaker:

Old Dominion, uh, sorry, I got thrown, I'm getting thrown off by these chats.

Speaker:

John says the team needs to ignore Ab's record, even on a down year, it's tough.

Speaker:

Absolutely right.

Speaker:

As long as we're focused in, we should have a good performance.

Speaker:

That's 100 percent right, John, and that is why we need to play

Speaker:

clean Old Dominion football.

Speaker:

Strong defense, run it down their damn throat, make them remember

Speaker:

that they played Old Dominion.

Speaker:

Old Dominion.

Speaker:

The beauty of this future season for us app has a coach on the ropes.

Speaker:

Marshall has a coach on the ropes.

Speaker:

We can be the guy that walks in and says, you think this is the guy?

Speaker:

No, we're going to remind you why you want to fire him.

Speaker:

And hopefully we're, we're just that guy that's walking in and like reminding

Speaker:

everyone, Hey, you need to change coaches.

Speaker:

This is not the dude.

Speaker:

I'm straight.

Speaker:

Just like justice.

Speaker:

Well, I was all WWF guys, you know, this goes back to, uh, like what?

Speaker:

Randy Orton is the legend killer.

Speaker:

Let's be the coach killer.

Speaker:

Let's put all these guys to bed.

Speaker:

Yeah, let's be the Grim Reaper of Sunbelt Coaching the rest of the season.

Speaker:

Just keep exercising those demons, because Jon's right.

Speaker:

We've never played well at APP, but this is the opportunity to go down

Speaker:

there and right some wrongs from the past, play a great game, and go win.

Speaker:

Uh, I will tell you though, if APP loses to Georgia State, We will

Speaker:

be road favorites in that game.

Speaker:

And I would love to know if anyone can look up the last time that Old Dominion

Speaker:

was a road favorite in a football game.

Speaker:

Anybody because we weren't at Southern Miss last year.

Speaker:

That would have probably been the last chance to be a road favorite.

Speaker:

That may be a call for, uh, Eric Bohannon, if he can pull up that data.

Speaker:

I don't know if he's, he gets that or not.

Speaker:

I'll find it.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I saw, I saw Jim Keith on earlier.

Speaker:

Jim might know that off the top of his head.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

I'll, I'll have to go through the action reports on that to

Speaker:

see when the last time we were.

Speaker:

It had to have been, it has to have been a while since we were a road favorite.

Speaker:

I would probably assume Contra USA days.

Speaker:

That last 6 and 6 record.

Speaker:

Maybe FIU?

Speaker:

And going down to the Mr.

Speaker:

Worldwide Pitbull stadium.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

I mean, the three win season, we might've even been favored over Georgia state.

Speaker:

I don't know.

Speaker:

Oh, no, we were, we were slight dogs in that game.

Speaker:

Cause I was, I was down there for that one.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

You may have to go back to FIU or somebody like that for the last time.

Speaker:

I know we were never favored in El Paso or San Antonio in Denton.

Speaker:

Oh, and by the way, thank goodness we're not conference USA anymore.

Speaker:

You imagine like having to fly to Miami and then like Las Cruces,

Speaker:

New Mexico for these games.

Speaker:

To play in front of nobody.

Speaker:

On a Tuesday night.

Speaker:

Uh, go on the road and lose to Kennesaw state.

Speaker:

I'm sorry.

Speaker:

That's the second time I've mentioned that loss tonight.

Speaker:

All right.

Speaker:

Well, monarchs, we've given you our predictions.

Speaker:

We've given you our peace of mind on this and Kevin, you were right.

Speaker:

We are still four and four.

Speaker:

We got to make that move, but we are three and one in the sunbelt.

Speaker:

The next win is a really important for anyone who joined me in that

Speaker:

over wind total, but just saying,

Speaker:

and it's really important for me and Aaron and our predictions of us winning.

Speaker:

Seven games.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Seven and five.

Speaker:

I was at six.

Speaker:

If we get to five, though, there'll at least be some more

Speaker:

NIL money to throw around.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Well, there might be a lot less NIL money to throw around

Speaker:

with the way Colton's playing.

Speaker:

That kid's gonna get paid.

Speaker:

That's why I need to activate it so I can reload it.

Speaker:

Yeah, we just gotta raise more.

Speaker:

So, with that, before we close, if you haven't joined the

Speaker:

collective, please join us.

Speaker:

Uh, it brings you this amazing podcast.

Speaker:

Uh, we're going to continue adding more pieces, more content

Speaker:

and building this thing up.

Speaker:

And then we can do that because you support the collective,

Speaker:

which is partnered with us.

Speaker:

And that's what makes it possible.

Speaker:

Uh,

Speaker:

we had the, we've, we've, we're putting out so much content.

Speaker:

I can't even remember all the stuff I did the last two weeks.

Speaker:

Uh, just so many interviews.

Speaker:

Aaron is going to the basketball facility on Sunday.

Speaker:

He's going to be interviewing a bunch of players.

Speaker:

To get you ready for basketball season.

Speaker:

Like we got two basketball shows coming your way.

Speaker:

We're going to be back with the soccer show this week.

Speaker:

We're doing this because you guys support the collective and that's

Speaker:

why we need more of you to join in.

Speaker:

Cause it makes all of this work possible, but it also makes keeping

Speaker:

these guys at old dominion more likely.

Speaker:

We don't have the money and we don't have the support.

Speaker:

It doesn't happen.

Speaker:

And I know I sound like PBS right now, but we need your support.

Speaker:

So join the product.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

Hey, I have a new line, join the collective.

Speaker:

We get people to give 60 cents a day.

Speaker:

We could raise a shit load of money for the collective and we don't

Speaker:

have to have sad pictures of dogs.

Speaker:

We could have cool pictures of dogs like Hudson, who we saw, by the

Speaker:

way, the other day, looking good.

Speaker:

Uh, Hudson too, is a big boy, by the way, huge.

Speaker:

Yeah.

Speaker:

We got the tailgate with him at the Ronnie tailgate yesterday.

Speaker:

And Deb Ronnie was just checking in.

Speaker:

She loves it.

Speaker:

She's amped up.

Speaker:

Great seeing you yesterday, Deb.

Speaker:

Happy you got to see that resounding win.

Speaker:

Um, I don't know.

Speaker:

We're just so blessed to be in this position and watch this team grow and

Speaker:

blossom right in front of her eyes.

Speaker:

And all these people that joined late that weren't there last night.

Speaker:

You know what they're going to be claiming when we won the division this year?

Speaker:

They were at every game.

Speaker:

It's going to be just like New Hampshire.

Speaker:

I was there.

Speaker:

I saw him throw for 700 yards.

Speaker:

That's right.

Speaker:

I know you did it because there was only like 500 of us.

Speaker:

Just like the North Texas comeback.

Speaker:

How many people were there?

Speaker:

That was so cold!

Speaker:

The New Hampshire game, there was still a pretty decent crowd there.

Speaker:

It wasn't full, but there was a decent crowd.

Speaker:

I think of Georgia State to end last year, and pretty much the

Speaker:

only people in the stands were the hundred or so people huddled in the

Speaker:

beer garden, and then of course the parents who stayed over on their side.

Speaker:

But that's another one of like, Oh, I was there, really?

Speaker:

Because I've heard from 50, 000 people that were there,

Speaker:

and there were about 200 of us.

Speaker:

Well, I was there with you guys because we're all huddled together in

Speaker:

the rear guard trying to stay warm.

Speaker:

And my, my parents and sister were there with me and I didn't realize like my mom

Speaker:

was like right in the ESPN plus camera.

Speaker:

So she was super happy about that.

Speaker:

But speaking of ESPN plus and support, there'll be at a watch

Speaker:

party this weekend, my next weekend.

Speaker:

Yes, sir.

Speaker:

We will be at afterglow, which has a fantastic new upgrade.

Speaker:

They added in a big projector screen and projector, uh, for

Speaker:

the front, like, garage door.

Speaker:

So we're going to have it on multiple TVs and a projector.

Speaker:

We've had a lot of fans come out in each game, and a lot of people

Speaker:

keep coming back because of how much fun they had at the last one.

Speaker:

So if you want to jump on this bandwagon and watch this team rise from the ashes.

Speaker:

Continue to build.

Speaker:

Join us at Afterglow.

Speaker:

Let's have some fun.

Speaker:

Drink some beer.

Speaker:

And root on the Monarchs

Speaker:

party.

Speaker:

Should start around one o'clock, I think,

Speaker:

and as Mother Fluff and glow.

Speaker:

That's right.

Speaker:

I love that.

Speaker:

Let's mother fluff and go.

Speaker:

Uh, thank you guys for tuning in.

Speaker:

We are the monarchist and as always, go Monarchs.

Speaker:

Go Monarchs.
