Shownotes

Have you ever had a time where something inside you just knew?

You knew you shouldn’t say yes. You knew something about that relationship wasn’t right. You knew it was time to leave the job, have the conversation, take the chance.

And then your brain got involved.

Suddenly you’re analysing everything, looking for proof, asking five different people what they think, convincing yourself you’re being dramatic or impulsive, and "trying" to make the “sensible” choice.

The problem is, when you do that over and over again, you don’t just ignore your intuition. You slowly stop trusting yourself... and make decisions you regret.

Maybe the answer isn’t to think harder. Maybe it’s learning how to hear the quieter voice underneath all that noise...

Julie Reisler is a master coach and founder of the Intuitive Life Designer Coach Academy, and much of her work focuses on helping people understand, strengthen and trust their intuition.

In this episode, you’ll discover how to tell the difference between fear and intuition, why overthinking makes it so hard to hear, and how learning to trust that inner knowing can change the way you make decisions and lead to a life of abundance and freedom.

IN THIS EPISODE

  • Welcome Julie! Her story and how she came to do this work.
  • Why we’re so conditioned to trust logic over intuition - even when something inside us is telling us otherwise.
  • Is it intuition or fear? The key differences that can help you recognise which voice you’re actually listening to.
  • Why intuition doesn’t always make logical sense - and why that doesn’t necessarily mean you should dismiss it.
  • The different ways intuition can show up (without you even realising it!).
  • Why overthinking can drown out your intuition - and the first thing to do when your analytical brain takes over.
  • A surprisingly practical way to build trust in your intuition.
  • What to do when you need to make a decision and you genuinely don’t know the answer yet.
  • How comparison, self-doubt and feeling “not good enough” can steal your freedom.
  • The simple mindset shift that can stop comparison from pulling you into a spiral.
  • Does intuition work the same way for everyone?
  • Julie's #1 way to start unleashing your freedom today.

Dawn:

Welcome to another episode.

2

:

Today we have Julie Reisler with us.

3

:

Julie is a board-certified master

coach, Georgetown University faculty

4

:

member, and founder of the Intuitive

Life Designer Coach Academy.

5

:

She's a two-time TEDx speaker, the

author of Get a PhD in You, and host of

6

:

the Youest You podcast, ranked in the

top half percent of podcasts globally

7

:

with listeners in over 175 countries.

8

:

Julie's work blends the science of

coaching with deep spiritual intelligence,

9

:

supporting coaches and visionaries move

from self-doubt to soul-aligned success.

10

:

Welcome, Julie.

11

:

We are so excited to have you today.

12

:

Julie: I am so psyched to be here.

13

:

And, you know, we go way back, Dawn,

so this is so, so fun, and I'm just

14

:

happy to be here with both of you.

15

:

I can't wait for this conversation.

16

:

Dawn: Awesome.

17

:

Well, the first question we like

to ask all of our guests is what

18

:

led you into what you do today?

19

:

So for example, what led you to

become the founder of Intuitive Life

20

:

Designer Coach Academy, and creating

your podcast, and writing your book?

21

:

Julie: So I'm gonna take us a little

farther back, 'cause I can't just…

22

:

it…

23

:

wasn't a linear path, and I didn't

know I was gonna be doing this work.

24

:

yes, I was psychology and public health.

25

:

That was my major in college.

26

:

I had thought maybe I would

be a therapist, I didn't like

27

:

the idea of research and I

was like, "I don't think so."

28

:

So I got into corporate America,

was in HR, and did leadership

29

:

development, and training, and

recruiting for quite a long time.

30

:

I worked for a nonprofit before that.

31

:

And I thought it was fine,

like it was absolutely fine.

32

:

I liked it.

33

:

Good job, bonus.

34

:

The basic, what I think people

think is what we're looking for.

35

:

And I had a personal crisis happen,

literally a wake-up moment, an awakening.

36

:

Like, woke up in the middle of the night.

37

:

I had two children very young at the time.

38

:

I think two under 2.

39

:

And I just…

40

:

I woke up and it was like, "Something

is not right here in my life.

41

:

Nothing feels aligned."

42

:

I didn't know that right away.

43

:

I just heard a very, very strong

voice say, "You're not okay here."

44

:

And I had been pushing down my inner

guidance and intuition for quite a

45

:

long time, probably like other…

46

:

maybe you guys, other listeners.

47

:

I was really good.

48

:

I got a master's degree in

health and wellness coaching,

49

:

which is where Dawn and I met.

50

:

I could have gotten a master's

degree in people-pleasing.

51

:

I could have gotten a master's degree

in, like, who do you want me to be?

52

:

I will be that.

53

:

That's actually…

54

:

I used to be an actress on the

side, and I thought, "This is a

55

:

great outlet to do that," it's not a

great outlet to do it in your life.

56

:

And, , that led me to a

really pivotal moment.

57

:

Not an easy moment, because I was

really looking square in the face at my

58

:

marriage, at my- a career, at my health.

59

:

I had a health breakdown with

my thyroid, which is often on a

60

:

metaphysical level connected to not

speaking your truth, your throat area.

61

:

And, I ended up going to this program,

personal growth program, that literally

62

:

changed my life, and I had a coach there.

63

:

This was 15 years ago before I

think it became such a big thing.

64

:

And the coach, it just was so powerful.

65

:

And he had one question, just one question

that literally realigned, I always call

66

:

it like a energetic chiropractic moment.

67

:

Everything realigned.

68

:

And he just said to me, 'cause I really

was struggling with do I stay married, do

69

:

I stay in this job, like, what do I do?

70

:

And he said, "Julie, if you knew your

life would be absolutely incredible

71

:

either way, what would you choose?"

72

:

Now I understand the

power of that question.

73

:

That question, it opened up everything

and I realized I can't in good faith

74

:

and listening to my own intuition,

I can't stay in this marriage.

75

:

He's a good person,

it's not the right fit.

76

:

That was one of the hardest things

I've ever done was to complete that,

77

:

and then it cascaded into, my job.

78

:

I was like, "Good job.

79

:

It's good, it's fine, but it doesn't fit."

80

:

I went back to school.

81

:

I had coached with him in his program many

times, then I went back and got a degree

82

:

in coaching out of the positive psychology

model, and then learning integrative

83

:

health aspects of mind body science.

84

:

Anyway, so fast-forward, I just

started getting strong nudges.

85

:

It's time to leave your

cushy job as a single mom.

86

:

Made no sense.

87

:

Absolutely no sense, I followed it

because I really started to see that the

88

:

thinking mind is great, the analytical

left brain thinking mind is great,

89

:

it doesn't even come close to this

intuitive intelligence is what I call it.

90

:

And I started following those nudges,

the things that I pushed away and

91

:

pushed down, and frankly, with a past of

addiction, that also kept my intuition

92

:

from being really, I would say, audible

and something I was tuning into.

93

:

As I moved through that journey as well

and found recovery from food addiction,

94

:

and alcohol was second, and just being

present, I realized it's not just

95

:

being present, it's actually in that

presence, that's where we quiet down

96

:

and we can hear and we can connect and

we can get, really powerful guidance.

97

:

And so coaching changed my life.

98

:

I started coaching people in the

military, in the government, in

99

:

companies like Under Armour and

CareFirst Blue Cross Blue Shield, and

100

:

then, started teaching at Georgetown

University in their coaching program,

101

:

and I fell in love with this work.

102

:

It kinda found me.

103

:

I had clients that came out of my

pro bono practicum in my master's

104

:

degree, and I was like, "You

wanna pay me to to keep coaching?

105

:

Really?"

106

:

I couldn't believe it.

107

:

It wasn't the plan.

108

:

I didn't know what I was gonna do with it.

109

:

So this coaching certification, early

:

110

:

woke up, and in that dreamy state, this

is where I get a lot of information,

111

:

I think many of us probably when we

tune in do as well, I just got a loud,

112

:

it wasn't loud yelling, it was

like a very audible, "Start a

113

:

coaching certification now."

114

:

It was very, very clear.

115

:

That was almost, my God, almost

seven years ago at this point.

116

:

And I just don't F around when I get

those kinds of loving guidance and orders.

117

:

And we're now at the 14th cohort.

118

:

I also was guided to bring

in a whole intuition program.

119

:

I just really believe…

120

:

And we learned this in

our coaching program.

121

:

There's one sentence,

Dawn, you may know this.

122

:

And Giorgia, I don't know if you've,

with coaching, if you've heard this.

123

:

It was one sentence in my two-year

master's degree that said, something

124

:

to the effect of, " as a good

coach and someone who's really

125

:

gonna help people make changes, you

need to lean into your intuition."

126

:

And I remember that whole phrase, it

lit up, and I was like, "Why are we not

127

:

focusing on developing our intuition?"

128

:

Like that, people don't know how to do

that, and many of us don't trust it.

129

:

And so that was so interesting, and I

later came into contact with a quote,

130

:

the Einstein quote, that the intuitive

mind really is meant to be the leader,

131

:

the rational mind the follower.

132

:

But in our society, we have it backwards

and upside down, where we bow down to

133

:

the rational side of our mind, and we

forgot about the power of our intuitive

134

:

mind, and it's actually the other way.

135

:

So it's been like breadcrumbs.

136

:

It was not linear.

137

:

Teaching the framework, the model,

the competencies, the way of being

138

:

with coaching, it actually transfers

to hosting a podcast, to holding

139

:

space for people, holding retreats

and programs, because it's a way

140

:

of being, it's a way of listening

that most of us are starving for.

141

:

And then there's intuition

school, which I add in.

142

:

And so this has been

all intuitively guided.

143

:

I had no idea.

144

:

When I knew you, Dawn, years

ago, I did not know I was

145

:

gonna start a certification.

146

:

Here we are, and people from all

over the world have done it, 14

147

:

cohorts, and it's teaching me.

148

:

I mean, I just feel very blessed.

149

:

And I believe we all have access, and you

talk about freedom unleashed and released.

150

:

It's like the freedom and we can get

into this, it comes from when we're in

151

:

alignment with ourselves in our heart.

152

:

It doesn't come from trying to

be something, something else.

153

:

So I think finally putting down the flag

and being like, all right, I put the

154

:

white one up and I'm like, "I surrender.

155

:

I don't know."

156

:

And that I don't know" and "I

surrender" and "please help me,

157

:

whoever is listening," spirit,

universe, whatever you wanna call

158

:

it, that has made all the difference.

159

:

And that today I say my,

the universe is my CEO.

160

:

That's who's running everything.

161

:

I'm just trying to be a good conduit

162

:

Giorgia: Wow I love the story there is

so inspiring how you followed all those

163

:

breadcrumbs, 'cause I agree with you.

164

:

In society we want to have this, the

rational mind says you can't move until

165

:

you know all the steps and until you have

the how and until you have the guarantee.

166

:

And our intuition, our divine downloads

they call them, they don't work like

167

:

that, And that's why we don't trust it.

168

:

Like you mentioned, we

don't trust our intuition.

169

:

So when you're getting those downloads,

and yet there's part of you that's

170

:

like, "Oh, I can't do that, well, that

is a crazy idea," how do you know?

171

:

How can a person understand when

actually that is truly your intuition

172

:

talking to you and when it's

actually a nerd or a monster gremlin?

173

:

Julie: It's a beautiful question.

174

:

I get this all the time.

175

:

One of the things that downloaded through

me was actually a, a quiz I have on the

176

:

four intuition languages, which is…

177

:

Let me sum it up really quick.

178

:

If you have a body, you're intuitive.

179

:

So if you're listening, you're in a body.

180

:

If you're not in a body, you're

doing great, you don't need this.

181

:

You're fine.

182

:

So, the idea that we have

access to this information,

183

:

it's gonna show up somatically.

184

:

Do you hear it?

185

:

Do you see it?

186

:

Do you feel it?

187

:

Do you sense it?

188

:

The thing before we even get into

that, and this is what I think

189

:

you're really asking here is, how

do I know if it's fear or intuition?

190

:

How do I know?

191

:

I'm gonna break it down really simply,

and this I think is gonna make a lot of

192

:

sense, and then I would say go practice

and try it so you can get a sense of

193

:

it or look in the past and see where

you've mistook fear for intuition.

194

:

Fear is gonna come in a

like yelling, judging.

195

:

Often there's a, you might

feel some shame in there.

196

:

You might feel badly.

197

:

You might feel like it's a command

that doesn't feel loving, that

198

:

feels like it has fear in it.

199

:

It has fear baked in it.

200

:

Often it's gonna have you go

back and circulate, circle over

201

:

and over again, overanalyze.

202

:

All of that is fear, right?

203

:

So intuition, typically the signature

is going to be much calmer and quieter.

204

:

It has a truth to it.

205

:

There's not a yelling.

206

:

It might be very, when I heard,

"You're not okay here," it was pretty

207

:

like emphatic, but it didn't yell.

208

:

It was just like, whoa, I could feel.

209

:

Again, feel, we have to use our,

tune into our feeling sense.

210

:

That felt so true.

211

:

Now, that brought up a lot of fear,

and then I had to deal with that.

212

:

That's why I think coaching is so

helpful, 'cause now what do I do with it?

213

:

Well, that's where you get someone to

support you or a good friend or you

214

:

sit with it or you write about it.

215

:

With intuition it's typically, not

very verbose, and it has a quality

216

:

to it that it's just something

about it you know deep, deep,

217

:

deep down in your gut it's true.

218

:

And you might also get a

gut feeling, a fluttering.

219

:

So there's body sensations,

there's hearing it, there's

220

:

seeing it, there's feeling it.

221

:

Feeling flavor comes from a place

of truth, peace, love In that realm,

222

:

and fear has way more around it with

fear, with shame, judgment, yelling.

223

:

That realm, that is not your intuition.

224

:

And if you're in that state,

you're gonna wanna take a pause.

225

:

You're gonna wanna come back

to regulation in your body.

226

:

We all do this.

227

:

We all have fear.

228

:

It's natural.

229

:

We just don't wanna let it guide us.

230

:

And so we could go on and on.

231

:

This comes up all the time, though.

232

:

It's a really important question.

233

:

And whenever I talk to…

234

:

I've talked to many, many people

about this, clients, people that I've

235

:

chatted with and interviewed, and then

everyone always says, "You know what?

236

:

I've had an experience where I

knew, and it didn't make sense."

237

:

That's the thing that

we have to also realize.

238

:

It doesn't always make sense.

239

:

I said that earlier.

240

:

This is not…

241

:

We're not talking about a logical,

rational aspect of your brain.

242

:

It's actually using the right side.

243

:

There's a whole…

244

:

Dr.

245

:

Jill Bolte Taylor, if you know

her, has the Whole Brain Living

246

:

book and goes into detail.

247

:

She's a neuroanatomist who had the

stroke and did the Stroke of Insight,

248

:

biggest TED Talk watched on YouTube.

249

:

She really goes into the, the anatomy

of the brain, and the right side, the

250

:

hemisphere, is different than the left.

251

:

And we literally are accessing a

whole different field of information.

252

:

So the not making sense, I think for

many of us, we're you go by logic.

253

:

What makes sense?

254

:

The plan.

255

:

This can throw us off,

and it's understandable.

256

:

It's just to get that it's not always

going to make sense, and that's the

257

:

part where it gets interesting in life.

258

:

Dawn: I know for me, and Giorgia

will nod her head to this, I

259

:

have a very analytical brain.

260

:

And there are times that when I don't

listen to my intuition, that I get

261

:

angry with myself, and other people

think I'm mad at them or the situation,

262

:

and I'm like, I'm not mad at anyone.

263

:

I'm mad at me because my intuition

said, "Go in this direction, do

264

:

this specific thing," and I didn't.

265

:

I believe that you can share with us a way

that someone who constantly goes into that

266

:

phase like I do of constantly overthinking

situations instead of being led by that

267

:

intuition, how they can break that cycle.

268

:

What tools or tricks to the trade can

support them in, and me, in breaking that?

269

:

Julie: Well, the thing you said

that's really, really important,

270

:

and this is for all of us, is

to first you gotta notice this.

271

:

You've just gotta, you've gotta bring

some awareness because otherwise you're

272

:

gonna keep sleepwalking through life.

273

:

We could talk about a lot of other areas

of life, this specifically, it's okay.

274

:

I mean, I'm also have a very

highly adapted left brain, logical,

275

:

analytical way of thinking.

276

:

I think many of us, especially if you

went into any kind of schooling, any

277

:

kind of institutional learning that's

how we're trained, at least in the West.

278

:

We're trained.

279

:

So there's no shame or there's nothing

wrong with it, it's just understanding.

280

:

It's like, going to, the grocery

looking for plumbing material,

281

:

or going to some sort of hardware

store looking for bananas.

282

:

You're not gonna find that there.

283

:

I mean, unless it's a really interesting

all everything is there, but you're not.

284

:

So you're not gonna find intuition

in the rational part of your brain.

285

:

You're just not, or thinking.

286

:

So I always like to take a step backwards

and start first before we make any change.

287

:

I think it's very helpful.

288

:

This is so, to me, brilliant, I was

guided to do this, and it's so interesting

289

:

'cause it is so left brain to do this.

290

:

Track it.

291

:

Get some data.

292

:

Go look.

293

:

That story, Dawn, or whatever you were

talking about, you probably have examples.

294

:

We all do.

295

:

I had this intuition, and I didn't listen.

296

:

I have so many of them.

297

:

I actually think that is

part of the tipping point.

298

:

I was like, "No more.

299

:

I'm not doing this.

300

:

It doesn't work.

301

:

It doesn't work as well."

302

:

And it's understandable.

303

:

We want to have control and

try to have make meaning of

304

:

our life, and it makes sense.

305

:

It actually literally makes sense to

make plans and to have analytic thinking.

306

:

However, look and see where your intuition

was trying to get through to you and

307

:

you didn't pay attention, or you didn't

listen, or you didn't follow through.

308

:

Now, you don't wanna do this in a

way, you gotta be really careful.

309

:

This is not to judge yourself.

310

:

You really gotta be careful because you

don't wanna bring that energy into it.

311

:

It's more of a, like, all right, curious,

just curious, when did I do this?

312

:

Make a list.

313

:

You can have one thing.

314

:

Two, you might get a barrage.

315

:

For me, I was like, holy shit,

I've got a lot that I did not pay

316

:

attention to that I shoved down.

317

:

And so it's important because then

your left brain gets a little happier,

318

:

and it's like, oh, there's data here.

319

:

Hmm.

320

:

There's something here.

321

:

Now the left brain's like, "I'm on board.

322

:

I'm gonna just chill and put my seatbelt

on and go in the backseat again."

323

:

And so then it's helpful to start setting

the intention, okay, let's hyper-focus

324

:

here on paying attention to intuition.

325

:

Now, practices like you've gotta

create space, and if you're not some

326

:

sort of breathwork or meditation

or pausing, a simple pause.

327

:

We wanna shift the sympathetic

to parasympathetic, the

328

:

fight, flight, any of that.

329

:

When you're in fight, flight, or

fear or fawn, freeze, think about it.

330

:

You're coming from that

dysregulated state.

331

:

Probably the first

signal is gonna be fear.

332

:

That's actually what happened

when I had my wake-up.

333

:

I thought I was having a heart attack.

334

:

It was very scary.

335

:

It was a panic attack.

336

:

I had never had one before.

337

:

It was only once I'd calmed myself

down That then I got the message.

338

:

So we wanna be loving to ourselves.

339

:

If there's fear, this is where the very

simple tool, and I am a huge fan, I've

340

:

done a lot of work and training with the

HeartMath Institute, and they talk about

341

:

there's research on heart intelligence.

342

:

We could go into that, but a very

simple tactic tool is literally

343

:

put your hand on your heart.

344

:

Putting your hand on your heart or

both hands, it's gonna ground you.

345

:

There's also…

346

:

Literally, there's a huge magnetic

field, the biggest one around your heart,

347

:

so you're tuning into this magnetic

field that when we are in that place

348

:

of calm, it changes our electromagnetic

activity, and especially when the brain's

349

:

involved, and we create coherence.

350

:

So even putting your hand on your heart,

taking a few breaths, and you could

351

:

even say something like, "I'm present.

352

:

I'm here.

353

:

I'm listening.

354

:

Okay.

355

:

I'm safe."

356

:

Like these things you say to yourself

that we typically don't say to ourself.

357

:

if not, just a hand on your heart.

358

:

And you can do this anywhere.

359

:

Most people don't really notice,

and who cares anyhow, right?

360

:

Hand on your heart.

361

:

That contact is very healing, and then

calming yourself down and pausing,

362

:

'cause we wanna stop that automatic

response of going to fear, of going to

363

:

responding or thinking and overanalyzing.

364

:

So you start doing that more, and then

eventually this just take a breath.

365

:

Okay.

366

:

Maybe you need to put

it to the side for now.

367

:

I have something right now,

I'm not sure what I'm…

368

:

If I'm supposed to do it or not,

and I'm like, "What am I doing?

369

:

Am I supposed to do it?

370

:

Am I not?"

371

:

I don't know.

372

:

I have a lot of tools in my tool

belt, and I've gotten some answers.

373

:

They're all the same, but

I'm like, "I'm not sure."

374

:

It's a big commitment.

375

:

And I'm like, "Do I do it?

376

:

I don't know."

377

:

So I'm just putting it to the side.

378

:

I'm trusting i'll know

when I need to know.

379

:

That's very different

than how I used to act.

380

:

Very different.

381

:

And when I need to be in that frame of

making a decision, I know I'm gonna know.

382

:

Or I'll do this you can ask your heart.

383

:

You can calmly ask your heart.

384

:

There's literally, as I said

earlier, something called the

385

:

heart intelligence, where we can

tune in to the field around us.

386

:

And so they're small microsteps,

they're really freaking powerful.

387

:

And when you start to build those, it's

like your body gets into this place

388

:

of safety and starts to feel safe.

389

:

And I do believe so much of

this is around feeling safe.

390

:

And when you feel safe, it can be

calm, it can go to parasympathetic,

391

:

it can start to go to rest and digest.

392

:

You can start to receive be in

coherence and receive more guidance

393

:

Dawn: That's one thing with people who

have the tendency to be more analytical.

394

:

They have an issue with feeling safe.

395

:

They often don't feel safe, and

therefore because they don't

396

:

feel safe, they don't trust.

397

:

And then it becomes this cascade of

things that don't work in their life.

398

:

And Giorgia and I both can empathize

with this because when we talk about

399

:

the way people's personalities are, it's

like the DISC, which we say promoter,

400

:

controller, analyzer, supporter.

401

:

And I identify as a controlling

analyzer, and she identifies

402

:

as an analyzing supporter.

403

:

And so having that highly

analytical side of us, it takes

404

:

us time to step into that safety.

405

:

So I really like how you just

segued into place your hands on your

406

:

heart, really tune into that and

tell yourself that you are safe.

407

:

Because if you've listened to more than

one episode, you'll know that Giorgia

408

:

calls me the language queen, and it

really is important that the things

409

:

that we say out loud are what we are

creating, because that's what happens.

410

:

So if I say I am safe, I'm

creating that sense of safety.

411

:

It's not just a woo-woo

thing or something like that.

412

:

Really, truly, genuinely, the

things that we say, the things

413

:

that we think become our reality.

414

:

It's how the world is designed

because of vibration and frequency.

415

:

It's what happens.

416

:

And I also love how you went into

when you were talking about your

417

:

thyroid, and you said when there's

a thyroid issue, it's usually

418

:

someone who's not using their voice.

419

:

And you went into also saying you could

have gotten a master's in people pleasing.

420

:

So all of these things adding up, right?

421

:

Giorgia could also get the

master's in people pleasing.

422

:

Giorgia: I could, yes.

423

:

Dawn: So can you share with us what

did it take to support you to shift

424

:

from the people pleasing to setting

those boundaries, to using your voice

425

:

and supporting yourself in general?

426

:

Julie: Yeah.

427

:

Well, and part of the backstory

for me, I mentioned addiction and

428

:

it really can show up, I think for

many of us in many different ways.

429

:

For me, it was like boxes,

bags, the fridge, that variety.

430

:

Sometimes in bottles

as well, less so there.

431

:

And I had a pretty intense moment.

432

:

Again, all looked fine.

433

:

This is what I think is

always so interesting.

434

:

It all looked fine.

435

:

In my late 20s, this was like

early, I don't know,:

436

:

I just, I felt like I literally

couldn't stop this pattern of

437

:

binging, of overeating, undereating.

438

:

The whole thing was just…

439

:

It was just crazy, and it was

crazy-making, and I didn't feel

440

:

well, and I just started to

feel like, "I can't do this.

441

:

I can't do my life like this."

442

:

I mean, it brought up, really

scary thoughts, really dark

443

:

thoughts of not wanting to be here.

444

:

It was a really tough bottom for me,

and I had the situation, I'll just

445

:

share really briefly, where I learned

about support groups, 12 steps.

446

:

This is like years ago where I

had print out the directions, like

447

:

MapQuest, if you guys remember.

448

:

And I remember in my car, I had the

MapQuest directions for these different

449

:

meetings, and I'm like, "Oh, God.

450

:

I so don't wanna do this."

451

:

I looked down and I had this thought of

like, "Do I just drive my car into a tree?

452

:

Like maybe…"

453

:

So that's fear, right?

454

:

Maybe I just end it.

455

:

I feel so miserable.

456

:

And it was so not apparent.

457

:

I tend to smile a lot.

458

:

I'm a typically pretty easygoing person,

inside was like, I didn't feel it.

459

:

I didn't feel it.

460

:

And the next thing that came through me

was, find that piece of paper, go to a

461

:

meeting, and your whole life will change.

462

:

That's what I heard.

463

:

And it was so clear, it was so calm.

464

:

And so where I was, this is so incredible,

I was in DC, Washington DC area.

465

:

Literally the meeting on the piece of

paper was starting in five minutes and it

466

:

was one block from where I was randomly.

467

:

A lot of these meetings

are in church basements.

468

:

Bless all of these places

that hold these meetings.

469

:

I went, this is '03, and it was not

fun and not easy in the beginning.

470

:

It changed my life, that work,

that inner work, that excavation.

471

:

And that started this deep

process of realizing, oh my

472

:

God, I am people pleasing.

473

:

That's my MO it's my modus operandi.

474

:

, I didn't even know it.

475

:

I just thought something feels really off.

476

:

I just started really infusing I

would say love, kindness, attention,

477

:

intention back into myself.

478

:

For those who've done, IFS work,

it was like reparenting myself.

479

:

And I have a book called Get a PhD

in You, and that came from years

480

:

and years and hours, thousands of

hours of meetings and inner work

481

:

and sponsorship and all of that.

482

:

And I think when this wake-up happened

and then my thyroid stopped at the point

483

:

then stopped working, my intuition, I'd

done so much inner work and I got this

484

:

message that said this was as a result,

there was no shame or blame though.

485

:

It was just you haven't been

speaking your voice at all.

486

:

In the marriage I was in, I just didn't.

487

:

I just didn't.

488

:

I don't blame him.

489

:

I don't blame their family.

490

:

I mean, I just don't.

491

:

That was a response.

492

:

Probably trauma response and my

own choice, and I created that.

493

:

And since then I have become much

more in tune with my body, actually

494

:

with others, and getting that our

body speaks to us all the time.

495

:

We know that fantastic book,

The Body Keeps the Score.

496

:

I mean, our body is holding on

to emotions and in our cells,

497

:

in our DNA, in our organs.

498

:

The beautiful thing is it can

change, it can heal, and I do

499

:

believe safety is a huge piece.

500

:

The reason I believe that

is I've experienced it.

501

:

I've experienced the

effects of feeling safe.

502

:

When I get an upper limit in my

life, I know there's something

503

:

somewhere I don't feel safe yet,

and that's where I need to focus.

504

:

So for me, the antidote was actually

in starting a podcast and speaking

505

:

like this, and speaking on stages

was-- and to share more, was to

506

:

speak up, and it's been very healing.

507

:

I've done a lot of healing work

on my thyroid and throat chakra.

508

:

And to the point, I know at some point

it will be completely, completely healed.

509

:

And so, I see it as a gift I didn't

ask for, a gift that my soul knew

510

:

I needed, and a lot of learning.

511

:

A lot of learning comes from any of

our, any ailment, anything going on

512

:

emotionally, physically, pay attention.

513

:

Pay the F attention because your

body is telling you something.

514

:

And I just, I've seen it over and over and

over again, especially with myself too.

515

:

Giorgia: Yeah, I think we're all

looking for that silver bullet or,

516

:

a strategy to use your voice and set

boundaries, and what I'm hearing you

517

:

say, just listen to your intuition,

having the courage to act on the

518

:

message over and over and over again.

519

:

Julie: Yeah.

520

:

I think, it's all how

you look at it, right?

521

:

And so I think of this

as Earth school, right?

522

:

We all got our own curriculum.

523

:

I certainly am still learning mine.

524

:

I do not know anyone else's, and I

don't wanna know theirs other than if,

525

:

unless I'm brought in to help somebody.

526

:

We all have our own lesson

plan and it's rewiring.

527

:

So you don't listen to your intuition.

528

:

Again, get curious Look and see how

can you next time do it differently?

529

:

And that lens, okay, and then

tracking it can be very helpful.

530

:

I started doing that and I looked and

I saw, my gosh, everything changed.

531

:

Everything.

532

:

I'm living in a different timeline, a

different life, and it's not perfect.

533

:

We're not meant to be perfect.

534

:

There are times I haven't…

535

:

I'll tell you what, when I don't

follow this guidance it's very obvious.

536

:

It's so interesting.

537

:

I've just, today I've like, you know what?

538

:

It doesn't make any sense, but I know

what I know, and I'm gonna do it.

539

:

And it can seem absolutely out there,

and it's always proved to be, I've

540

:

never, never had true intuition

and guidance that wasn't for the

541

:

highest good for me and others.

542

:

And it's always gonna be for you and.

543

:

It's never just ourselves.

544

:

I really believe that it's, we're, first

of all, we're all connected anyhow.

545

:

That's a whole different conversation.

546

:

The idea there's just one of us.

547

:

We just, we have all these various

attributes, divine attributes

548

:

showing up as Dawn, as Giorgia,

as Julie, as our listener.

549

:

We all are from the same source.

550

:

So, just getting we're all here to

learn what we're here to learn, and it's

551

:

about learning and growing, expanding,

and how much can I let go of knowing?

552

:

By the way, when we get into

that area of I think I know,

553

:

and I have to know, it's ego.

554

:

And I'm not saying eradicate your ego.

555

:

I don't think we can do that.

556

:

Ego, what I've heard it been

said the acronym is edging

557

:

greatness out, edging God out.

558

:

And the ego, it's here to protect.

559

:

That's really what it's here to do.

560

:

I think of it as like the age

two to three kinda age frame.

561

:

And so we don't wanna just kick it out.

562

:

You wanna be loving, but also that's not

the one that's not driving the bus here.

563

:

And so really learning how to come back

and feel, this is where meditation and

564

:

getting quiet, like, where is my actual,

the parent here, or my higher self?

565

:

Whatever words work.

566

:

Where is the part of me that just knows?

567

:

Let me tune into her because, and

we all have that, the soul self.

568

:

I call it the you-est you.

569

:

Like your self that is, I would

say, beyond space and time, that's

570

:

here in 3D and that's also beyond.

571

:

And that has a perspective that our

intuition, this is why it's powerful.

572

:

We're plugging into a source of

power that has a 360 perspective

573

:

that is not just in space and time

here, that can see everything.

574

:

Look, our eyes are myopic.

575

:

We look forward.

576

:

My eyes can't see the back of my head.

577

:

I mean- My cats can.

578

:

I don't know if my cat…

579

:

what's the deal with a cat and intuition?

580

:

I can't, you can't, we

we're not built that way.

581

:

And so there is a non-physical

aspect of us that can.

582

:

And so anyhow, I'm digressing, that's

my long-winded answer to your question.

583

:

Dawn: I love everything that you're

sharing, Julie, and one thing that I'd

584

:

like to ask is how can people find or

create freedom by going through using

585

:

their intuition as well as something

that I think all of us do is compare

586

:

ourselves to other people, feeling

like we're not good enough, doubting

587

:

ourselves, which that doubt also comes

from not listening to the intuition.

588

:

How can we shift to that space of being

free of those things, or at least learning

589

:

how to navigate them in a different way?

590

:

Because they're not gonna go away,

just how can we respond differently?

591

:

Julie: So I think the first thing

to do is to make a decision.

592

:

I am choosing.

593

:

We have free will.

594

:

I am not dealing with this BS anymore

of the worthiness, the comparison.

595

:

Doesn't mean it's gonna all stop.

596

:

I do that too.

597

:

I do not like it.

598

:

It is not fun to compare is to despair.

599

:

It sucks.

600

:

First of all, the fact that we

know it sucks and it doesn't

601

:

feel good, and we're…

602

:

we look at energy.

603

:

Energy, it does not lie.

604

:

So why would I want to spend time in that

space that's just depleting our energy?

605

:

The first is a decision.

606

:

You gotta make a decision.

607

:

I wanna be free.

608

:

My desire, my birthright.

609

:

The truth is we are free.

610

:

We are.

611

:

There's a remembrance of it.

612

:

There's a living into it.

613

:

There's a free will aspect it.

614

:

I really think that intention and

the decision, that's everything.

615

:

Where you put your energy

is where energy flows.

616

:

And so where you put your

focus is where energy flows.

617

:

So it's really is just

saying, this is important.

618

:

This is the most important thing.

619

:

And I actually think it's probably up

there with wanting connection, is freedom.

620

:

Is it really the things and the money?

621

:

Yeah, those are nice things,

and they can bring freedom.

622

:

It's the feeling of being free, of

being able to soar, to expand, to grow.

623

:

Well, guess what?

624

:

Nature does that.

625

:

Look around.

626

:

There is nothing about

nature that doesn't do this.

627

:

So if you get the natural laws, and we

follow natural laws, we're part of nature,

628

:

then this is literally how we're designed.

629

:

So what are you doing to make sure you're

staying in alignment with what's natural?

630

:

When you get into the comparison mode,

you could put your hand on your heart.

631

:

You could just, all right, pause, pause.

632

:

The tapes you say to yourself, redoing

those are really, really important.

633

:

What are you saying to yourself?

634

:

And it just doesn't ever work to compare.

635

:

I'm also on my own timeline.

636

:

I have things I just say to myself.

637

:

I talk to myself like, "Hey, lady, listen.

638

:

You're on your own divine timeline.

639

:

Everyone is.

640

:

So let's send a blessing to that person.

641

:

Yay for them 'cause they're doing

something that's probably inspiring you."

642

:

So that, that's one avenue.

643

:

By the way, that will feel freeing

to release the person or people or

644

:

things that you're comparing yourself

to if you're in that state of the

645

:

not good enough, which is also, by

the way, gonna keep you in shackles.

646

:

Remember, this is all under fear.

647

:

goes back to one of the

beginning questions.

648

:

It's all under fear.

649

:

When we compare, when we despair, when

we think we're not good enough, when

650

:

we people please, it's all under fear.

651

:

Well, you wanna bring some love to fear.

652

:

It's gonna help shift the energy.

653

:

And if you can't bring love right

away, can you bring equanimity?

654

:

Can you bring curiosity?

655

:

It's one of the things I teach, and

I think is one of the most important

656

:

tools, is curiosity is like Switzerland.

657

:

It creates neutrality, and

that actually affects your body

658

:

and the safety in your body.

659

:

So just get curious.

660

:

I wonder why this is so important to me.

661

:

You might discover, I actually

really, really wanna be writing

662

:

a book too, or starting a garden

like that, or have a family.

663

:

Whatever, whatever it is.

664

:

And I think when we look at freedom to

be able to give others the freedom to be

665

:

who they are, we've gotta be doing that

with ourselves, and I think it's one

666

:

of the most important things we can do.

667

:

I think I personally was guided to

leave a corporate job, I'm not saying

668

:

this is for everybody, and start this

kind of a business and work because

669

:

it is freeing, and it helps others to

feel free, and the work you're doing.

670

:

Freeing, freedom, it has a

quality of blessing us and others.

671

:

We have to become aware first and set

our intention and start noticing where we

672

:

are actually putting ourselves in prison.

673

:

We do it to ourselves.

674

:

Every single thing on the

outside is always reflecting

675

:

what's going on the inside.

676

:

So you've gotta go to the inside first.

677

:

That's really, it's really the

only place we wanna be hanging out.

678

:

Everything on the outside, you

wanna change your perception.

679

:

That's many wisdom, truth

teachings go into that.

680

:

Change your energy, change

your inner vision, and you will

681

:

change the outer reality, period.

682

:

Giorgia: Absolutely.

683

:

I'm just soaking up all your wisdom.

684

:

Like and one question that I have is does

intuition speak the same way to everyone?

685

:

'Cause you mentioned this inner knowing,

you mention symptoms through your body.

686

:

Was there any maybe an unexpected

way that your intuition spoke to you?

687

:

Julie: So I believe we all have various

ways just like our birth charts.

688

:

If you go into human design or astrology,

there's unique kind of combinations.

689

:

I think we all have our own unique,

very specific, like you might feel

690

:

this fluttering in your chest and

then get chills, and Dawn might get a

691

:

gut feeling and then see something--

and it is a learnable skill.

692

:

It is learnable, we all have intuition.

693

:

We're all intuitive.

694

:

Have we trusted it, played

with it, focused on it?

695

:

That's a different question.

696

:

Or maybe it's been pretty loud,

and it's been something you didn't

697

:

trust or that frightened you.

698

:

So that come from all different doors.

699

:

We all have the ability to tune in and

to strengthen in the intuition languages,

700

:

I talk about vision, seeing, hearing

is volume, vessel is like you just

701

:

know and visceral is like the feeling.

702

:

We all have access it's our body, right?

703

:

Our body is the gateway.

704

:

For me, this has been super trippy

because I've always been highly intuitive.

705

:

I grew up, my dad was a Vietnam veteran

with undiagnosed PTSD, and on the outside,

706

:

again, a lot of on the outside, it

looked-- He's always been very loving and

707

:

just seemed fine, happy, and I actually

was able to literally read his thoughts

708

:

when I was little like telepathically.

709

:

I knew he was not okay.

710

:

I knew he was not in love with my mom.

711

:

I knew…

712

:

I didn't understand what the trauma

was, I knew there was no reason to know

713

:

this, and only later he confirmed it.

714

:

I knew he was suicidal.

715

:

And again, you would've

seen nothing that said this.

716

:

And so I've always been hyper in tune

with people and energy, and sometimes

717

:

it would come, like I just could feel

and read their energy or thoughts.

718

:

I've also always been very, very

visual, so I've had visions.

719

:

When I got-- I married,

my boyfriend from college.

720

:

We ended up getting married,

and I had a vision with him.

721

:

I had two kids, three and five, and

it's interesting when this wake-up

722

:

happened, that vision reappeared,

and I realized my kids were three and

723

:

five when we eventually did separate,

and I was like, "Oh my God, I could

724

:

not and I cannot see beyond this.

725

:

I can't see it.

726

:

I want to."

727

:

I didn't want it to end like

that, but, I literally, my

728

:

intuition, like I couldn't see it.

729

:

So I know when I sometimes can't

see things, either I'm not supposed

730

:

to yet or that's where they end.

731

:

That's what it is.

732

:

I have a very strong auditory,

so volume, I hear things.

733

:

I always have.

734

:

I had a, sadly a miscarriage my

first pregnancy, and I woke up,

735

:

two weeks before the sonogram and I

just woke up, my body went cold, so

736

:

feeling, and I heard, "It's not here.

737

:

It's gone."

738

:

I just knew immediately.

739

:

And I remember my husband at the time

was like, "No, I think you're fine."

740

:

Everyone's like, "You're fine.

741

:

It's fine.

742

:

It's still growing."

743

:

I'm like, "No, I know for sure."

744

:

There was no reason, but when we went

to the sonogram, they were like, two…

745

:

It happened two weeks ago."

746

:

I was like, "Yep, I knew that."

747

:

These are like three or four of thousands

of stories that I've tried to track.

748

:

And what I found is the more you…

749

:

With anything, the more you put love

into and attention to a relationship,

750

:

the more developed and the more it loves

you back, the more you can connect to it.

751

:

So today, I just got chills.

752

:

My way of intuiting,

that guides everything.

753

:

That is my roadmap.

754

:

That is my guide.

755

:

I do it really differently.

756

:

People ask about my business plan.

757

:

I'm like, "I don't have one.

758

:

That's not how I roll."

759

:

The business plan comes real time.

760

:

That's just how I go.

761

:

So we all have access, and

I know people that get, they

762

:

get just a strong gut knowing.

763

:

They just know.

764

:

I know others that, see it, are very

visual, and everything in between.

765

:

The beautiful thing is, and I

used to teach a lot with emotional

766

:

intelligence, with EQ, it's very similar.

767

:

You can build EQ.

768

:

You can also build your, what I like to

think of as your intuitive intelligence.

769

:

You can build that

770

:

Dawn: I think that we could keep going

on and on and on with this conversation

771

:

because I know Giorgia's loving it as much

as I am, and I hope the listeners are too.

772

:

Is there anything that we haven't

asked you that you would still

773

:

like to share with our audience?

774

:

Julie: The only thing I would just

say is don't sell yourself short.

775

:

You are here.

776

:

You won the golden ticket.

777

:

You are in this body in this lifetime.

778

:

The chances of being born, I

don't know, there's some crazy ass

779

:

number like one in 14 trillion.

780

:

It's so big I can't…

781

:

My brain's like, "I don't get it."

782

:

Do not sell yourself short.

783

:

There is absolutely…

784

:

You're meant to be here.

785

:

You're in the exact earth lesson

and plan you're meant to be in.

786

:

Your intuition is a given

'cause you're in a body.

787

:

Worthiness is a given.

788

:

This is just BS that we're not

worthy enough, not good enough.

789

:

That is a program, and I would just

say be very, very diligent getting

790

:

that, that program is not you.

791

:

In fact, nothing is you

other than love, truly.

792

:

That's a whole other conversation.

793

:

And your intuition's gonna always guide

you back to what's the most loving thing

794

:

you can do for you and in this life.

795

:

And I do feel the bravery, the courage

to trust that and to start building that

796

:

relationship will change your life and

will have a ripple effect, and is what

797

:

I believe our world is calling for.

798

:

So don't underestimate yourself,

and when you get into the

799

:

comparison lane or the doubt or…

800

:

You're normal, you're human, we do that.

801

:

Go back to love and safety.

802

:

Hand on your heart, how

you're speaking to yourself.

803

:

There is absolutely gifts and talents and

unique attributes that only come through

804

:

you, only you, and let's not miss it.

805

:

Let's not get to the end and be like,

"Shit, I wasn't paying attention."

806

:

Start paying attention now.

807

:

Give your attention,

which is your entire…

808

:

That's our biggest, greatest

resource right here.

809

:

Give your attention and that is gonna

give you freedom like you have never

810

:

experienced, and it is contagious.

811

:

And this is what we, I think, want

to spread, is this way of being.

812

:

So don't ever underestimate the

power that's within you and the

813

:

freedom that's already there.

814

:

Giorgia: That is a beautiful message.

815

:

And for everyone that now is like,

"Oh, I actually want to work with you.

816

:

I want to listen to your

podcast, read your books,"

817

:

like how can they contact you?

818

:

What are some ways they can work with you?

819

:

Julie: Thank you.

820

:

This is a divine arrangement.

821

:

If you're called, I'd love to.

822

:

I always feel like

whoever's meant to will.

823

:

My 14th cohort, hopefully you'll have

the information there, if they go

824

:

to my juliereisler.com/certification

825

:

and you have anyone that, that comes

through here I know is a good fit.

826

:

Like attracts like.

827

:

We start in early October.

828

:

Also on my homepage, juliereisler.com,

829

:

there's a whole area to

how to work one-on-one.

830

:

I do one-off sessions, I do packages,

I also have the free podcast, which is

831

:

anywhere you get your podcasts, especially

YouTube, has a really lovely community,

832

:

and I always respond to every message.

833

:

I'm on social media.

834

:

It's always under my name,

just to keep it easy.

835

:

I would just say if anyone is, if

you're called and it feels like,

836

:

"Oh, this is something I wanna learn

more about," I'd love to connect.

837

:

Even if it's not to work together,

I love meeting other soul

838

:

family who are in the same path.

839

:

I think we're all here for a

really important reason, so

840

:

thank you for asking that.

841

:

Dawn: A really quick question, Julie.

842

:

Were you sharing with me that

anybody who signed up for your next

843

:

cohort would get a $500 discount?

844

:

Was that something you

were sharing with me?

845

:

Julie: Yes, and I totally forgot, so yes.

846

:

Yes, yes, yes.

847

:

Thank you.

848

:

Thank you, Dawn.

849

:

In fact, I had a note

and I forgot the note.

850

:

Yes, and I believe, remind me, I think

it's FREEDOM500 is the coupon code.

851

:

Yes, thank you.

852

:

Absolutely.

853

:

Hello.

854

:

Let's go back.

855

:

Yes.

856

:

If you're feeling at all called to

do this, we've had literally students

857

:

from all over the world, all over.

858

:

We had someone from Australia who was

getting up at 2:00 AM and wanted to come.

859

:

Because we meet live weekly, Wednesdays,

12 to, to 1:30 PM Eastern Time.

860

:

It's actually been a pretty decent

time for almost everyone, except

861

:

Australia, but we've had people do it.

862

:

If you're leaning into it, there is a $500

off coupon code just for this community,

863

:

and that is FREEDOM500, just all in caps.

864

:

And it's been a divinely appointed

type of program where people

865

:

join that are meant to join.

866

:

You don't have to wanna be a coach or know

what a coach is or worked with a coach.

867

:

Trust me, this work, or you can,

and we've had many coaches too.

868

:

This work is transformative.

869

:

You will not come out the same person

in the best way, and your intuition

870

:

will guide you how to use it.

871

:

I'll tell you that.

872

:

That I've seen every time.

873

:

Yeah.

874

:

Thank you.

875

:

Giorgia: We're gonna put all the links

in the show notes, and highly encourage

876

:

everyone that feels called, do not

hesitate, just take the leap, and I know

877

:

amazing things will come out of that.

878

:

So the last question that we have

for all our guests is, what's one

879

:

way that our listeners can start

unleashing their freedom today?

880

:

Julie: Mm.

881

:

Great question.

882

:

Well, hopefully this podcast conversation.

883

:

Your…

884

:

again, your attention,

your energy is everything.

885

:

So I would actually…

886

:

We're gonna go back to

the analytical mind.

887

:

This is what I'm hearing intuitively.

888

:

I had a thought, and then I was like, "Oh,

I hear it, I'm hearing it differently.

889

:

I'm gonna share what I'm hearing,"

and that is look and see where…

890

:

just start here.

891

:

Where do you feel free in your life

right now, and where do you not?

892

:

And where you do, you wanna really

honor yourself, like way to go.

893

:

Maybe you're having freedom in your

health, or in a relationship, or in your

894

:

career, or another part of spirituality.

895

:

Where are you not feeling free?

896

:

Just start with looking, okay, that's the

area where you're not feeling free, where

897

:

it's time to put some love, attention,

intention, and start to apply what we

898

:

talked about and what you talk about here.

899

:

And you gotta first get where that is.

900

:

Here's the one thing I do know.

901

:

What you do in one area of life

eventually will affect all areas of life.

902

:

So if the area where you don't

feel free is financially, a lot

903

:

of us have that, okay, what can

you do to start feeling free?

904

:

Well, it might be getting really

clear on your numbers, on tracking

905

:

your income and your spending.

906

:

I had a…

907

:

We'll do another story another

time, but I learned very soon early

908

:

on in my business, I better track.

909

:

And by the way, you gotta pay taxes.

910

:

That's a different thing.

911

:

So bring that clarity.

912

:

Where is there a lack of freedom?

913

:

And know you focus there.

914

:

Pick the, the area that's really

upsetting you the most, and start

915

:

applying what we've talked about.

916

:

Start putting attention and energy and

deciding, "Okay, I'm gonna shift this."

917

:

You will start to feel free

in other areas of life too.

918

:

So that's where I would actually start

very logically, technically, is start

919

:

to make lists and decide where you are

and where you're not, and then decide

920

:

you're gonna make a decision, intention.

921

:

This is gonna change.

922

:

You get to change it.

923

:

You're the author of your life

whether you know it or not.

924

:

You are.

925

:

I am.

926

:

We all are.

927

:

So it does start with being aware.

928

:

Dawn: Thank you so much today, Julie.

929

:

This was amazing.

930

:

It was so good to see you as well and

I can't wait to see what else is on the

931

:

horizon for you and what you're creating.

932

:

Julie: Thank you guys so much.

933

:

I really hope this conversation blesses

everyone who tunes in, all of us

934

:

included, and just love what you're

both doing, and thank you for having me.

935

:

Giorgia: Absolutely.

936

:

Thank you.
