What a glorious day, Scorekeepers! It's the first anniversary of THE SCORE and we're celebrating with two saucy, provocative and heartfelt conversations about representation with two brilliant artists! First, we're joined by MN Opera President and General Director, Ryan Taylor, who's here to talk with us about MN Opera's just-announced 2022-23 season, the new Luminary Arts Center, and why the IDEA work we're doing in every facet of the company is so important to him and our industry (0:02:41). Next, we have a chat with mega-talented mezzo-soprano, activist, and co-founder of the Asian Opera Alliance, Nina Yoshida Nelsen (0:44:10). She tells us all about her career in opera as an Asian woman and how a deep desire to see an increase in both the quantity and quality of roles for Asian singers on American stages has inspired her activism. And with all that, we even found time for quick hit of Pure Black Joy, featuring the PBJ queen herself, Ms. Beyonce Giselle Knowles Carter (1:20:58)! Let's do it do it, y'all!
