[00:00:25] Eric Goranson: house. Welcome to around the house with Eric G and Carolyn B midweek special, good time talking about. We think it's a hot topic right now. I can't wait to see what's going on with my football Seahawks and your jets, Caroline.
[:[00:00:47] Caroline Blazovsky: You lost the Russell Wilson. Like what happened? It's
[:[00:00:57] Intro: so what's going to happen. I mean, [00:01:00] now
[:[00:01:07] Eric Goranson: Usually when teams going to full on rebuild mode, they tend to cruise in and, and cut everybody with talent and go get young players and rebuild. They're not doing that. So, you know, they got rid of a few people that were expensive, but, um, I don't think, uh, we're not gonna make this a football show, but, uh, I'm wondering to see, it's kinda like, what are they trying to do?
[:[00:01:36] Caroline Blazovsky: No, you're not, why never
[:[00:01:52] Intro: We'll work my words.
[:[00:01:57] Caroline Blazovsky: don't know. I was reading before I got online. I saw [00:02:00] Hailey Bieber, Justin. Wife had a little mini stroke, a little blood clot. And then I was reading about Justin, how sweet he hasn't left her side and he's taken care of her and he's all worked out, but he just loves her so much. I thought that was
[:[00:02:15] Intro: I am.
[:[00:02:17] Eric Goranson: There you go. There you go. Well, Hey, I wanted to talk about a hot subject. I'm sitting here looking out my garage window right now, and I see all these trees that are just starting to get green. I'm looking at the cherry trees in full bloom, outside my neighbors across the street.
[:[00:02:48] Intro: No way you can
[:[00:02:57] Intro: He's got the
[:[00:03:15] Eric Goranson: air outside, inside.
[:[00:03:36] Caroline Blazovsky: And then you see that yellow haze missed that. Just kind of covered that. Yeah,
[:[00:03:57] Eric Goranson: It will just be [00:04:00] green, yellow pollen covered with that. So it's pretty brutal. It's pretty brutal. So you gotta be careful with that and you don't want that inside your house. So what are the best tips? We're not tracking
[:[00:04:17] Caroline Blazovsky: And it's so redundant, but you guys don't do it. And that's why we repeated a million times. If you were changing your,
[:[00:04:32] Intro: Yes. Well, that's true,
[:[00:04:44] Caroline Blazovsky: So if you start to see that pollen come in, I usually hit it with a damp rag to sort of dilute it down. You know, when you do remediation on anything, you always want to kind of spray it down and keep it wet. Stays, you know, heavier and it won't go into the air. So wipe it with a damp rag, wipe up as much, and then make sure you're happy, [00:05:00] vacuuming by windows, doors, all of that stuff frequently.
[:[00:05:07] Caroline Blazovsky: That's it. And also your clothes. If you're working outside and you're avidly doing. Take your clothes off, take a shower. Cause it gets all in your hair and you don't realize how much of it when you're doing yard work and stuff.
[:[00:05:26] Eric Goranson: bringing it in. What do you do? Yeah. I mean, it's, there's not much you can do with that. I mean, I'm not watching the dog. You know, for us, it's not as we are.
[:[00:05:52] Caroline Blazovsky: No like us, but with animals, I mean, it is challenging.
[:[00:06:07] Eric Goranson: it. It's always a challenge when you've got severe allergies and pats, because those two don't always go together.
[:[00:06:34] Eric Goranson: Full-time. Yeah. And then if they've got a good filter, they're probably better to run their fan a little bit more too. If they've got a central heating and cooling system, right. Just to let that filter medium, do a little bit more filtration as it's going.
[:[00:07:03] Caroline Blazovsky: Wow. I just heard some tracks
[:[00:07:12] Caroline Blazovsky: all right. Out of the driveway. Um, but there was this really interesting study and it looked at if you use filtration like a Merv 15 on your HVAC system and run your HVAC with it in, or if you took standalone purifiers and put them out like one in the living room, one in the kitchen, what would work better?
[:[00:07:33] Eric Goranson: free standing brought to you by the freestanding purifier association of America.
[:[00:07:38] Caroline Blazovsky: my God. Now I don't know. It was, it was an independent study, so I'm pretty interesting though. So all those people who have freestanding units, you're actually doing really good by your house.
[:[00:07:55] Caroline Blazovsky: Hey, I was just in bottom line. I just wrote up what I think some of the best purifiers are. So if you [00:08:00] guys have bottom line.com magazine, check it out. There's a whole article on
[:[00:08:20] Eric Goranson: Oh
[:[00:08:21] Caroline Blazovsky: no. You'll give yourself lung disease and they were sued. Do you remember Alpine? Alpine was an old, um, ozone device. It was like this brown box of the wood. And it had this ozone generator that basically like killed everybody's lungs and they got sued, no ozone or at least very low levels of ozone or okay.
[:[00:08:43] Eric Goranson: miniscule. There we go. But ozone is natural.
[:[00:08:51] Eric Goranson: There we go. There we go. So yeah, I mean, that's, that's somewhere right there. And then just stay on your cleaning methods, you know, wash those sheets, wash those [00:09:00] blankets and, and stuff is huge.
[:[00:09:10] Caroline Blazovsky: And then Eric's totally right. Wash those sheets at over 140 degrees. Get it really hot. Yeah.
[:[00:09:27] Caroline Blazovsky: I just bought some, I just bought some really great sheets from target and they feel like
[:[00:09:36] Eric Goranson: Throw pillows in them. When you wash them in hot water,
[:[00:09:44] Eric Goranson: literally we had like eight inches of pillow show showing out the edge of it after we watched them. And I'm like, wait a minute. So these sheets can take hot water. What's the freaking Boyd.
[:[00:10:04] Intro: you have me
[:[00:10:15] Caroline Blazovsky: Uh, oh, is that what you
[:[00:10:22] Intro: What's the 10 that this was not planned people like we both got independent cheats, sometimes. Hilarious, man.
[:[00:11:01] Eric Goranson: He's out there with a show over in England someplace.
[:[00:11:15] Eric Goranson: it will look like his neighbors. I don't think that was a regular city road crew in the, I think the funny part was the city was like, we don't recommend people go out and repair the road on herself.
[:[00:11:31] Caroline Blazovsky: See, that's why we like rockers is they're like they're totally DIY.
[:[00:11:49] Eric Goranson: They still have, it's like the wild west. So what are they doing?
[:[00:11:56] Eric Goranson: Oregon trail dysentery, you know what I mean? It's just the end of the road [00:12:00] and there's still dirt. And man, you gotta be careful cause I've gotten in there with. Four by fours before off one of those, you'll see a puddle and you're like, oh, that could be three feet deep.
[:[00:12:26] Eric Goranson: Well, you need to pave the parking lot and do this. Don't worry about the 75 roads. We still haven't paved for 50 years, you know, don't, you know, it's, it's that crazy, you know, but yeah, it's that same kind of thing. I totally get it. Cause I, I would be out there, you know, with a plow and tearing it up and getting the grater out and fixing it.
[:[00:13:04] Caroline Blazovsky: Our auto expert would never buy a house
[:[00:13:06] Eric Goranson: but he'd be the G wagon so he could drive over the top.
[:[00:13:12] Caroline Blazovsky: sports car would be like bottoming out different tips. It's not good low profile tires
[:[00:13:31] Eric Goranson: So we can't have that, but I totally get it. You know, it's, it's, it's battles like that, where you're battling the city or a homeowner's association and that other stuff that you just, it makes it interesting. Makes it interesting. But my mom's got
[:[00:13:55] Caroline Blazovsky: She was like, my allergies are terrible in the house. They smell mold.
[:[00:14:02] Caroline Blazovsky: we're doing, we're doing the testing. I just ordered it up. She forgot to read
[:[00:14:07] Caroline Blazovsky: So see even
[:[00:14:09] Eric Goranson: Oh yeah. Yeah. It's, it's brutal. We've got to, I've got a lot of yard work to do. This is going to be kind of the year of wrapping up my master bedroom project and then diving into my, my outdoor spaces.
[:[00:14:34] Caroline Blazovsky: You did a lot. I mean, you're, you're pretty much your party central there. You've got all your stuff kind of going.
[:[00:14:43] Eric Goranson: We're starting over in the landscape. It's I we've got a half-acre to wipe the slate clean with and start over. There's nothing that's gonna, that's not gonna, it's all gonna change. So what the problem is is a lot of it is, is we can't change it due to trees.
[:[00:15:08] Caroline Blazovsky: Yeah. And what are you going to eat? And that gives you shade, right? So, I mean, can you even grow anything?
[:[00:15:14] Eric Goranson: Neighbor, just trimmed. Uh, really did some great work on theirs. I'm curious to see here this spring, how the sun comes in now, because I might be able to do some grass where last year we couldn't just because they limped some stuff up and I might get some more afternoon sun and that could support some grass, but I might just have Scottie come up and put in.
[:[00:15:45] Caroline Blazovsky: That's nice.
[:[00:15:47] Eric Goranson: I need a robot vac for outside. Oh yeah, absolutely. So that's kind of where that stuff is. So,
[:[00:16:01] Eric Goranson: He came back faster than Malia.
[:[00:16:09] Eric Goranson: you know, but my question is, and I was talking, I actually mentioned on, I think it was on, uh, uh, Don Jamison's rock and roll page yesterday. I'm like, but is Tom Brady going to be like kiss where every year is the last.
[:[00:16:24] Caroline Blazovsky: no. I mean, I want them to come back, but I just hate this.
[:[00:16:33] Eric Goranson: I saw some good memes today that were out that said that inflation is so bad out there. Even Tom Brady had to come back to work.
[:[00:16:53] Eric Goranson: From the Rudolph, the Red-Nosed reindeer has commercial wall [00:17:00] talking like Vince Neil sings.
[:[00:17:07] Eric Goranson: so, yeah, that was pretty funny. So, but yeah, no, it's, it's one of those things that, uh, we'll see what happens on the football side of things. It's way too early to tell on a Tuesday afternoon for us all, to see what's going.
[:[00:17:23] Eric Goranson: Absolutely. Absolutely. So cool. So what do we got coming? Oh, wow. We've got windows. We're going to be talking windows with Milgard windows. So a little, you know, window 1 0 1 there. And then we've got Walt Tamala talking about outdoor flashing and weatherproofing and all that stuff that you should be listening to before you change out that window door or deck, right.
[:[00:18:07] Eric Goranson: he's saw you are going to replace that window and you thought you were going to take the window out, put a beat, a caulking around it, put the window back in and trim it up.
[:[00:18:34] Eric Goranson: Cause we've got some fun stuff coming up. All right, well, let's call it a day here. It's about that time. I'm Eric G and I'm Caroline B and you've been listening
