Wave A Magic Wand - If Anything Was Possible What Would You Like To Achieve
Hi I'm Christian Baker from christianbaker.net and The Achieve Podcast, sharing inspiration, motivation, and encouragement to help you think differently, to develop your mindset, so that you believe in yourself more, take purposeful action, so that you achieve the life and the goals that you want.
Now, I have a question for you today.
If anything was possible and you could wave a magic wand, what would you like to achieve?
When I work with clients, people often fall into one of two categories, and this is a question I ask both of them for different purposes.
Often people come to me because they're at a bit of a loss, they're overwhelmed, they're not quite sure what it is they want to achieve, but they're just unhappy, frustrated or unfulfilled in some way.
So, we have to look at where they're heading and what they'd actually like to achieve, in order to start moving towards it.
As part of the process, I will often ask them,
"If anything was possible, what would you like to achieve?
Just imagine for a moment that you could fast forward to a point in time in your near future, whether that be days, hours, weeks, months, or even this time next year, simply a point in time. where your life is looking more how you would like it to be. What is it that you would actually like to achieve?
Once you know that, then you can start to take purposeful action towards making it happen, and your mind will help you to go in that direction.
But you first have to get some clarity on what it is that you would like to achieve.
I don't expect that if this is the first time you're asking yourself this, or you're at a crossroads in your life, that you will have instant, or complete clarity, but I encourage you, I urge you, to reflect upon what you'd actually like to achieve, what you want your life to look like.
Perhaps get a pen and some paper, a notebook, or a journal, or use the notes section on your phone. And just ask yourself, "If I could wave a magic wand would I like to achieve?"
"If you could wave a magic wand and change, improve or achieve anything, what would you like transform and accomplish?
I also work with some people who know what they want, they know what they'd like to achieve. They have a goal, but for some reason they're stuck, they feel as if there is some kind of invisible barrier preventing them from getting there.
So again, I ask the same questions, "If you could wave a magic wand, if you could eliminate, if you could remove any and all obstacles, or barriers that are in your way
what would you get rid of?"
"What would you change?"
"And what would you really like to achieve?" (Sometimes we have an idea of what we want, but we need greater clarity to make it happen).
Once you know what's in your way, then it becomes easier to find a way through, around, over, or under whatever it is that’s preventing you from getting there.
But sometimes people don't know what the obstacle is, but they just know they'd like to be on the other side of it. So even waving the magic wand and being on the other side of that barrier, that obstacle, what would that be like?
Then, probably what's even more important, is to ask yourself,
"What's so great about achieving it and what difference will this make to you?"
So, for different purposes you can benefit from asking yourself the magic wand question and see how you can utilise it to help get yourself clarity.
If you could imagine waving a magic wand and achieving it, being at that point in time, having made the transformation and you're now a different place in your life, what difference would that make to you?
How would that feel?
And what's so great about that for you?
Spend a couple of moments, asking yourself and reflecting on the questions.
If you had a magic wand, what would you like to achieve?
What would you like to remove?
What would you like to change?
What difference would that make to you your life?
Get your pen and paper, your notebook, or journal and take some time to get your ideas and thought out of your head.
You can revisit this process as many times as you need to. Whenever you need to get clarity, or you want to change your mindset, this is a great way to help yourself discover and get clarity on what you want and what you can do next to make it happen.
And do remember what your mind believes you will achieve, so change your mindset and you can change your life and achieve the goals that you want.
Get in touch or leave me a comment to let me know if you could wave a magic wand, what you would like to accomplish
Go on you can do it, make it happen!
All the best
