I’ve been thinking about you lately, Gavin, and there’s something about you that stands out. You bring a kind of energy that makes people smile. I see it in the way you react to things, the way you get excited, and the way you just enjoy moments.
I love how curious you are. You notice things, you ask questions, and you find excitement in both big and small moments. That’s something special.
As you grow up, I want you to hold on to that. Don’t lose your curiosity. Don’t lose your energy. The way you are right now matters, and I’m proud of you for it.

Mr. Funky Teacher:
This is Mr. Funky Teacher. And this is Funky Letters to My Kids.
Today’s episode is called Gavin: Stay Curious and Keep Smiling.
This one is for you, Gavin.
Gavin, I’ve been thinking about you, and honestly, you just bring a different kind of energy.
There’s something about you—the way you move through the day, the way you react to things, the way you just kind of are—and it makes people smile.
I notice how curious you are. You ask questions, you notice things, you get excited about stuff.
Sometimes it’s big things. Sometimes it’s the smallest things.
And I love that about you.
You’ve got this personality that’s just fun. You don’t overthink everything. You just jump into things. You laugh, you react, you bring energy into a room without even trying.
And that’s a gift.
Not everyone has that.
As you grow up, some people lose that. They stop being curious. They stop getting excited. They start worrying about what other people think, and they hold back.
I don’t want that for you.
I want you to stay curious. Keep asking questions. Keep noticing things. Keep finding excitement in the little moments.
And keep being someone who brings joy into the spaces you’re in.
The way you are right now—that energy, that curiosity, that personality—that’s something special.
And you don’t need to change that to fit in.
The right people will appreciate it.
Gavin, the world actually needs more of that.
And from where I sit, I just enjoy being around you. I enjoy your energy. I enjoy the way you see things. I enjoy the way you make moments feel a little more fun.
You’re going to grow. You’re going to change. That’s part of life.
But as you do, hold on to that part of you—the part that smiles easily, the part that’s curious, the part that brings light into a room.
If there’s one thing I want you to hold on to, it’s this:
Stay curious.
Keep smiling.
And don’t lose the part of you that makes life fun.
At the end of the day, this is what it comes down to, Gavin:
Be who you are.
Treat people right.
Keep growing.
And remember—you can change the world by how you live every day.
