Don’t Forget Your Umbrella – Humor Unplugged

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1047 of our trek, and it is time for a 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life.  Something to cheer you and provide a bit a levity in your life.

We are told in  Proverbs 15:30, “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.” We are also encouraged in Proverbs 17:22, “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny, which is titled…

Don’t Forget Your Umbrella

One day as he was walking to work, Sam stopped at the local diner that was on his way for breakfast just as it began to rain. It came down in buckets.

Forgetting that he hadn’t brought an umbrella, he reached for the nearest one that looked like his when he got up to leave. Little did he realize that an elderly woman named Sarah was just behind him and was also preparing to leave. With his hand on the door, he suddenly heard Sarah scolding him, as she loudly pronounced, “Hey Mister! That’s my umbrella.”

Sam was so embarrassed at his mistake when he suddenly realized that he had not brought an umbrella that morning. He handed the umbrella back to Sarah and slinked out of the diner. He walked on to his office, but was drenched by the time he arrived.

Once he got to his office, Sam discovered three umbrellas that he had left in the office over the months. Since it still looked like it could rain when he was leaving the office, he decided to bring them all home at the end of the day.

On his way home, he decided to stop once again at the diner for a snack and wouldn’t you know it, he ran into the same elderly woman (Sarah) also at the diner eating her dinner. Sam tried to avoid her stare as he walked past her, but she spotted him and looked at the umbrellas, then at Sam, and tartly remarked, “You did really well for yourself today, didn’t you?”

I hope that brought a smile to your face for today…If so, pass that smile onto someone else. Our Thursday Thought is “be careful about jumping to conclusions without knowing all the details.”

A good verse for today is: Zechariah 7:9,“This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says, ‘Judge fairly, and show mercy and kindness to one another.'”

Just as you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
