How to Have Wisdom and Power – Wisdom UnpluggedWisdom Unplugged Power

Thank you for joining us for our 5 days per week wisdom and legacy building podcast. This is day 530 of our trek, and it’s time for our 3-minute mini-trek called Wisdom Unplugged. This short nugget of wisdom includes an inspirational quote with a little additional content for today’s trek. Consider this your vitamin supplement of wisdom for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget.

Today’s quote is from Lao-tzu, who said, “Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.”Power to controlGetting to know other people for who they really are without being judgmental requires that a person is honest, empathetic, caring, and smart. In other words, you must be someone with a keen intellect. However, it may be even more difficult to know ourselves without prejudice. We are masters in justifying and rationalizing our habits and behaviors. A truly wise person is someone who is able to honestly see who they are at their very core.

In the same manner, we can exert control over others when we have given or assumed the authority and strength. It is quite different to have sufficient self-discipline to the point of controlling ourselves. Many people are impotent to control their wants and desires over a long period of time.

An example of a life built on wisdom and power is given to us in 2 Peter 1:5-7, “In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.”supplement-your-faith-1-638That’s a wrap for today’s Wisdom Unplugged. If you enjoy these quotes, I have created and published a searchable database of over 10,000 quotes that I have collected for many years.
