Speaker:One of my favorite guests because I leave this episode, or, well, I le I
Speaker:left the last episode and then anytime I hear you talk, I leave, uh, with just so
Speaker:much knowledge in my head and so much to take away from, uh, hearing you speak.
Speaker:So really excited to have you on.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:Well we have, uh, more and more every time, every week I find
Speaker:more about what algae does.
Speaker:And it's not me doing the science, it's just me finding
Speaker:the science cuz it's out there.
Speaker:No.
Speaker:And.
Speaker:I know you, uh, last time we spoke, you had a term, and I want to say it
Speaker:was like a, was it citizen scientist?
Speaker:Uh, that you, you call yourself?
Speaker:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker:And I encourage everybody else to do the same thing because, you know,
Speaker:we, we have to educate ourselves so we can protect ourselves because,
Speaker:you know, some of our current sy uh, systems just aren't doing it for.
Speaker:And the science is there.
Speaker:I know it may be difficult to wade through.
Speaker:So one of the things I do try to help people with is I actually
Speaker:enjoy waiting through the science.
Speaker:I didn't know I was such a geek.
Speaker:Uh, and then I try to make it easy for other people to understand these complex
Speaker:matters, but the science is available.
Speaker:Um, and that's why we have great authors.
Speaker:There's a one I'm gonna talk to you about later on, uh, a book called Brain
Speaker:Energy that was recently written by.
Speaker:Dr.
Speaker:Chris Palmer, who is a psychiatrist at the Harvard Medical School, and in his book
Speaker:he talks about how every mental disorder doesn't matter whether it's Alzheimer's
Speaker:anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder is due to a mitochondrial disease.
Speaker:And, um, that makes sense when you find out that the brain has
Speaker:the highest concentration of mitochondria in your entire body.
Speaker:There's 2 million mitochondria per cell.
Speaker:So, um, a lot of what, uh, and also as you're, you know, people are,
Speaker:scientists are also realizing heart disease is a mitochondria disease,
Speaker:cancer is a mitochondria disease, and we'll, We'll dig into some of that,
Speaker:uh, in the show today because, um, the, as I said, the science is there.
Speaker:It's just hasn't made its way out because I to the public, and I don't
Speaker:think the pharmaceutical industry even wants you to know this sort of
Speaker:stuff because, uh, then you won't be signing up for all their radiation
Speaker:treatments and all that sort of jazz.
Speaker:So, Anyways.
Speaker:Um, it's just Mother Nature has provided for us.
Speaker:We just need to have a better understanding of what
Speaker:exactly, um, she's given us.
Speaker:So that's kind of what I do.
Speaker:Well, I think my statement in the beginning of this podcast is already true.
Speaker:I'm already like buzzing, like, which is all the information
Speaker:you're giving, so, Uh, no.
Speaker:Super excited to, to dive into all of those topics.
Speaker:Um, yeah, we are definitely going to, uh, specifically talk a lot on,
Speaker:uh, definitely mitochondrial health as well as, uh, cancer and the
Speaker:relation to chlorella and spirulina.
Speaker:But for those of the listeners who maybe haven't listened to our last episode, or
Speaker:they haven't really heard about spirulina and chlorella, would you mind giving?
Speaker:A quick little rundown on absolutely what it is and, and why it's beneficial.
Speaker:Yeah, you got it.
Speaker:So first of all, algae was the first life on earth almost 4 billion years ago.
Speaker:And it's all documented, uh, through evolutionary science, uh, sino bacteria.
Speaker:By the way, spirulina is a sino bacteria, um, was the first life on earth.
Speaker:And then, and it released oxygen.
Speaker:Uh, and so after a billion years, other, uh, aerobic cells could grow, which then
Speaker:led to other cells in life as we know it.
Speaker:But I mentioned that because algae is every.
Speaker:Uh, there's two main types of algae.
Speaker:There's macroalgae and microalgae.
Speaker:Macroalgae is, um, that stringy stuff that washes up on shore, also
Speaker:known as seaweed or du or kelp.
Speaker:And it's very good for you because it has lots of, uh, fiber and iodine
Speaker:because it comes from the ocean.
Speaker:But I will tell you, there's virtually zero nutrition, but good fiber.
Speaker:Microalgae, which what we're talking about today is the complete opposite.
Speaker:Zero fiber.
Speaker:Zero fiber in spirulina, a teeny tiny amount in chlorella, um, but the most
Speaker:concentrated nutrition in the world.
Speaker:Even NASA says one gram of algae has the same nutrition as a thousand
Speaker:grams of fruits or vegetables, and that's because they're so tiny.
Speaker:They're called micro.
Speaker:Because they're microscopic in size, you can't see them.
Speaker:And unlike macroalgae, which is only in the sea with like,
Speaker:that's why they call it seaweed.
Speaker:Microalgae is everywhere.
Speaker:It's in the lakes, the rivers, the streams, the oceans, uh,
Speaker:it's what feeds the whales.
Speaker:What feeds the fish.
Speaker:Uh, it's in soil.
Speaker:It's in your aquarium.
Speaker:But the two that we're going to talk about, oh, and there's tens of
Speaker:thousands of strains of microalgae.
Speaker:You may have heard of bluegreen, algae and green algae, and there's tens of
Speaker:thousands of all of those strains.
Speaker:One strain of bluegreen algae is spirulina, and one strain
Speaker:of green algae is chlorella.
Speaker:And these are the ones that are harvested as food crops.
Speaker:I'm showing you a picture of a spirulina farm.
Speaker:Uh, it's grown in fresh water, so it not from the ocean.
Speaker:Two important things here.
Speaker:Algae is not a supplement.
Speaker:It is a food crop grown hydroponically like many other vegetables
Speaker:like lettuce and broccoli.
Speaker:So it's food number one.
Speaker:Number two, it's grown in fresh water.
Speaker:Ours has grown in triple filtered spring mountain water, which is why we're, um,
Speaker:considered the highest quality algae.
Speaker:Also, we don't use high heat to dry it, and I'll talk about that a minute.
Speaker:And chlorella grows in round.
Speaker:Uh, uh, they're called ponds or farms.
Speaker:So, so number one, algae food.
Speaker:Sp microalgae is everywhere but the two we're talking about, spirulina
Speaker:and chlorella are not from the ocean.
Speaker:So if you read about a blue-green algae, uh, closing your favorite,
Speaker:uh, beach, We're not talking about that, that might be toxic.
Speaker:We're not talking about spirulina, we're that.
Speaker:That's another strain of bluegreen algae.
Speaker:And by the way, poor algae gets a bum wrap because algae kills bacteria.
Speaker:So the reason why it's showing up and closing your beach is because there
Speaker:is bacteria, there are toxins in the water, which you probably can't.
Speaker:See, but algae can detect it.
Speaker:And so it shows up to, it's basically the cleanup crew.
Speaker:Uh, but that's what you see.
Speaker:And so poor algae gets the, the bloom or the, the, the blame.
Speaker:Um, but it's there to clean up.
Speaker:And also algae kills bacteria in your body.
Speaker:So, so spirulina and chlorella are harvested food crops.
Speaker:Uh, and we're again renowned for a of the highest quality, uh, cuz of the water,
Speaker:but also we then dry it into a powder.
Speaker:And precedent into tiny tablets.
Speaker:Now, we're unique in that we do not use high heat to dry our algae like
Speaker:almost everybody else, and this will become very important when we get to
Speaker:the mitochondria part because there's a very important antioxidant that is
Speaker:an enzyme, and it's, it's a mouthful.
Speaker:It's called superoxide dismutase, also known as s o d.
Speaker:Um, and it's an enzyme, so high heat kills enzyme.
Speaker:So if you want the maximum value from UR algae, especially in
Speaker:this case, um, you know, uh, the antioxidant that protects your
Speaker:mitochondria from free radical damage.
Speaker:And that's no slummy job.
Speaker:Uh, you need to have your algae to be raw and ours is raw.
Speaker:So that, and there's also a pigment in spirulina.
Speaker:Called FICO signin, and we'll talk about that in a minute.
Speaker:It's the blue pigment.
Speaker:If you've took a tablet of spirulina and put it on a plate of water, this
Speaker:beautiful blue color would come out of it.
Speaker:Uh, and the other chlor, um, chlorella only has one pigment, which is chlorophyl,
Speaker:which is green, and it doesn't have the same properties as this blue one,
Speaker:which we're gonna talk about, which is proven in science to kill cancer cells.
Speaker:So, I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but the fact that we do not use high.
Speaker:Protects the, the, uh, nutritional value so that you get maximum value from it.
Speaker:There's so much nutrition in these spirulina and chlorella tablets that,
Speaker:um, one tablet equals the same nutrition as an entire plate of vegetables.
Speaker:So if you don't like vegetables, maybe you're traveling and you can't get to
Speaker:summer, or maybe your kids won't eat them.
Speaker:This is your answer because the tab, the algae, we press
Speaker:them into these little tablets.
Speaker:The, the size of a baby aspirin, we recommend at least 10 a
Speaker:day, but you could take five.
Speaker:Or you know, our NHL players take 75.
Speaker:Spirulina before a game cuz it gives you energy and they take 75 of the
Speaker:chlorella after a game because it, uh, pulls out lactic acid so, so spirulina.
Speaker:Um, now that you know that it's food and it's grown in fresh water
Speaker:so it's not toxic, it is the most concentrated nutrition in the world.
Speaker:And I use that quote from NASA cuz we sell ours in large bags of a thousand tablet.
Speaker:And I did the math and figured out one bag of a thousand tablets has
Speaker:the same nutrition as 551 pounds of vegetables, and I remind people
Speaker:that's 551 pounds of vegetables.
Speaker:You didn't have to drag home from the grocery store stuff in your fridge.
Speaker:Uh, clean cook or eat or fight with your kids or your husbands
Speaker:or throw out when nobody eats it.
Speaker:And let's face it, vegetables go bad quickly.
Speaker:If you haven't noticed, your arugula goes yellow after about day three.
Speaker:That's cuz it didn't start with much nutrition.
Speaker:Um, I won't dwell on it, but we're, our food supply is so damaged,
Speaker:our soils are so over cropped.
Speaker:Um, scientists are calling this era the great.
Speaker:Collapse because you're eating food, but you're not getting nutrition
Speaker:and, and the combination of lack of nutrition and too many toxins.
Speaker:The average adult, by the way, has 700 toxins in their body.
Speaker:So the combination of not enough nutrition and too much toxicity is
Speaker:what's causing all of this chronic disease, uh, fatigue, brain fog.
Speaker:Well, the disease is actually your mitochondria being damaged,
Speaker:and it manifests with symptom.
Speaker:That look like brain fog, weight gain, bad digestion, um, uh, and, and, you
Speaker:know, all kinds of mental issues.
Speaker:So, so those are your symptoms and lots of people take drugs to manage the
Speaker:symptoms, but ultimately what you need, you need to go further upstream and
Speaker:correct the problem, which is the damage to the mitochondria from the missing.
Speaker:And too many toxins.
Speaker:And we'll, we'll address the two of them because spirulina is
Speaker:probably the one I would recommend.
Speaker:We call ours, as I mentioned, energy bits for the, um, mitochondria healing.
Speaker:And Chlorella is well known for pulling out toxins.
Speaker:It chelates them.
Speaker:So the two of them work together, um, as sort of the perfect solution that
Speaker:your, your dream team right here.
Speaker:Um, so, so just so you understand, we'll get to how they each work on
Speaker:the mitochondria level, but spirulina, as I mentioned, is a bluegreen algae.
Speaker:It has that blue, beautiful blue pigment in it, and we'll get into
Speaker:the, the benefits of that pigment, but it's also known as being energizing,
Speaker:and it does that because it has the highest protein in the world.
Speaker:Three times the amount of protein is steak.
Speaker:And all the protein's already in amino acids.
Speaker:So, and it has 18 of the 20, including the nine that your body can't make.
Speaker:So it's a complete protein and then it's loaded with B vitamins.
Speaker:And anybody who knows this, that bees turn B vitamins, bees turned, uh, the protein
Speaker:into, um, uh, into glucose and energy.
Speaker:So it, it gives you steady energy.
Speaker:Now I wanna make the distinction between energy and stimulants.
Speaker:Sugar, caffeine and chemicals are stimulants.
Speaker:The worst one being sugar because it's also inflammatory causes insulin
Speaker:spikes and cause all kinds of havoc.
Speaker:Uh, in your gut biome, there is not a single redeeming thing
Speaker:about sugar, but what we're talking about is cellular energy.
Speaker:So, There is no rush crash like you would get from chemicals, caffeine, or sugar.
Speaker:Um, it's just steady energy and so, you know, a lot of people, if you
Speaker:just take 10 or 15 of the spirulina tablets, you may not even really
Speaker:notice it because it's very quietly.
Speaker:Energizing your cells.
Speaker:But, um, but if you went for a run, you would notice it because you
Speaker:would go run further or faster, or maybe you would lift weights, you
Speaker:would lift more or lift longer.
Speaker:So I tell people cellular energy is like, um, money.
Speaker:You know, when you have more money, you can do more things and you
Speaker:have more choices and you, and you use the money to do what it
Speaker:is that you wanna do at that time.
Speaker:So cellular energy is the same way you could.
Speaker:20 or 30 spirulina tablets and go to bed, and you would have the best sleep of
Speaker:your life because your cellular energy is being directed towards facilitating sleep.
Speaker:But you could decide that you want to write an exam and you'll have great
Speaker:focus, or maybe you wanna go for that run.
Speaker:You'll have great energy.
Speaker:So, so there's a big difference between having a stimulant and
Speaker:having cellular energy and, um, you get it both on the short term and
Speaker:long term with, with the spirulina.
Speaker:So, uh, and on the protein, Most animal protein is bound up, so it can
Speaker:take days to get broken into aminos.
Speaker:Your, your collagen is in peptides, which are smaller clusters, but,
Speaker:um, algae is individual aminos.
Speaker:Um, so it gets absorbed so quickly.
Speaker:The other reason why, The spirulina gets absorbed so quickly is it is
Speaker:not a, a plant, it is a bacteria.
Speaker:Remember I mentioned it was a, it's called a sino bacteria.
Speaker:And the reason why that's important to know is there's nothing, no cellulous
Speaker:wall for your body to break down, to get access to the aminos or any of
Speaker:the other nutrients that are in there.
Speaker:So very efficient, um, in nutrition, very bioavailable.
Speaker:If you chew it, it's literally in your blood.
Speaker:Seconds.
Speaker:It almost bypasses digestion because your blood picks it up right away and
Speaker:directs it to where it needs to go.
Speaker:So, so that's, that's why we got noticed by athletes and triathletes and Olympic
Speaker:athletes when we first started because it does give them that energy and focus.
Speaker:We'll talk about some of the brain issues in a minute.
Speaker:Um, and it doesn't upset their stomach because there's no
Speaker:caffeine, chemicals, or sugar.
Speaker:So, um, very, and so most people take spirulina.
Speaker:In the morning, um, because that's when you're hungry and
Speaker:you wanna get out the door.
Speaker:It's when you're, you want a little bit of energy and both of
Speaker:the algae are ketogenic, which means they have zero carbs.
Speaker:They do not decrease your ketones.
Speaker:They do not in interfere with your fast.
Speaker:Intermittent fasting, they do not increase your glucose.
Speaker:This has been studied, documented, and we've also done anecdotally tests
Speaker:when we've been at different shows.
Speaker:So anybody who's carnivore, paleo, ketogenic, low carb, uh, you know,
Speaker:just want something fast and easy, this is your answer because it's unpro.
Speaker:One ingredient, one calorie.
Speaker:We don't market it as a weight loss, but I mean, you could have it for lunch if
Speaker:you know 20 or 30 tablets for 30 calories, and you wouldn't be hungry for five hours.
Speaker:And we've had people write us to confirm that.
Speaker:And I, I intermittent fast every day and I.
Speaker:You just have my algae tablets in the morning with some, some tea and
Speaker:I usually eat something around three or four o'clock in the morning.
Speaker:It saves you time, by the way.

Speaker:This is about the minimum.
Speaker:Effort that you would ever have to do to get maximum value.
Speaker:If you can swallow water, uh, you can get all the energy and
Speaker:nourishment that you need instantly with the smallest amount of effort.
Speaker:So, yay, Dave.
Speaker:I'm right on board with you.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Uh, no already, Catherine, I mean, Once again, I'm like, I, I, I need
Speaker:to go back through this episode and, and just take notes because so much
Speaker:good information is, is right in here.
Speaker:And, and I can attest to the fact that, uh, I can, uh, You can eat this as kind
Speaker:of a meal replacement in a way because at the Biohacking conference I saw
Speaker:you putting down tons of the tablets, uh, because I, there was no time for
Speaker:you to break away to go get some food.
Speaker:So you were just there munching on those.
Speaker:And um, definitely.
Speaker:Uh, I have, I, I do intermittent fasting and I, I usually will
Speaker:take, uh, you know, my supplements right before I begin eating.
Speaker:Uh, but I have done, uh, multi-day fasting and I will take a few tablets
Speaker:here and there, uh, throughout the fast, along with some salt and water.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Um, but yeah, just absolutely incredible.
Speaker:Like you said, it's just.
Speaker:Packed with so many nutrients, uh, vitamins, minerals, all the good
Speaker:stuff that you could possibly want.
Speaker:The fact it's an essential, it has all the essential amino acids in it.
Speaker:Um, yeah.
Speaker:It just, it can't be, can't be talked up enough.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:Um, well, and lots of people say, well, can I take it on an empty stomach?
Speaker:Cuz uh, other supplements make people nauseous and they make me nauseous and I
Speaker:don't take any other supplements anymore.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:Is the answer because it's food and again, it gets absorbed so quickly.
Speaker:Um, a lot.
Speaker:Uh, supplements are made from extracts and they're made using high
Speaker:heat to, in a mashup in a factory.
Speaker:And those things don't exist naturally in, in, in, in nature.
Speaker:So, um, it does, you know, cause some stomach distress.
Speaker:Also, there is no repeat like you would get with fish oil.
Speaker:I can't take fish oil.
Speaker:I tried, I tried every brand, every flavor, liquid cab.
Speaker:Nothing worked.
Speaker:I would be tasting that fish oil for hours afterwards so that, you
Speaker:know, it's obviously not for me.
Speaker:Never happens with the algae.
Speaker:It goes down and it stays.
Speaker:By the way, I remind people that, um, you know, a lot of the damage being done
Speaker:to the fishes, the oceans are because of people, companies overfishing because they
Speaker:want the, the omega-3 from the fish oil.
Speaker:But I tell people, where do you think the fish get the omega-3 from it?
Speaker:They, it's in the ocean, it's in the algae, and they consolidate it and most.
Speaker:Fish oil actually goes rancid by the time you buy it.
Speaker:And so here people are taking it to, for anti-inflammatory
Speaker:purposes, but it, it goes rancid so quickly it becomes inflammatory.
Speaker:So that never happens with the algae.
Speaker:Um, we actually have, uh, an al the algae literally never goes bad either.
Speaker:We do have to put an expiry date on it.
Speaker:It's usually three years, but it never goes bad.
Speaker:So, um, you can stock up and keep it for 10 years if you want.
Speaker:May.
Speaker:It tastes as good as it did 10 years when it was first harvested, cuz again,
Speaker:it's food, but, uh, it never goes bad.
Speaker:And there isn't a single thing that I can think of that you can say
Speaker:that about that's good for you.
Speaker:Apparently a McDonald's hamburger never goes bad because it's so
Speaker:full of chemicals, so, yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:The, for the wrong reasons, it stays fresh.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:The, the McDonald's, but, Okay.
Speaker:So I definitely, uh, I know before, uh, we got onto this talk, we were talking
Speaker:a little bit about, um, yeah, cancer and how, I've been getting a lot of
Speaker:questions in terms of, uh, the efficacy of spirulina or chlorella in fighting cancer.
Speaker:Um, so if you wouldn't mind just kind of Sure.
Speaker:Diving in on that and Yeah.
Speaker:And sharing any information you have towards that, that'd be amazing.
Speaker:That's, that's great.
Speaker:And, and just so people know, chlorella is the other algae, uh, that we call
Speaker:recovery bits, which pulls out toxins, which also helps prot protect you from
Speaker:cancer because toxins damage your cell membrane, damage your mitochondria.
Speaker:So on the cancer, There's a few things I wanna start out with.
Speaker:Um, there was a German scientist by the name of Otto Warberg, W A R B E R G.
Speaker:And, uh, he won a Nobel Prize.
Speaker:He's ager, it was German scientist.
Speaker:He won a Nobel Prize, I think in 1931 for discovering that cancer
Speaker:cannot exist in an alkaline cell.
Speaker:So that's pretty big news because, um, uh, when you eat too many acidic
Speaker:foods like sugar, processed foods, anything that's white, um, it.
Speaker:Uh, affect the pH of your cells and your, this, the pH goes from zero to 14, so
Speaker:they've realized that your cells should be 7.1, which is just slightly alkaline.
Speaker:And when they are slightly alkaline, that's indicative of a lot of oxygen
Speaker:being in the cell, that the proper nutrients are working in the cell,
Speaker:that the cell membrane is porous, which allows nutrients in and toxins out and.
Speaker:So this is just sort of a starting point for understanding that you need to keep
Speaker:yourself slightly alkaline and algae is the most alkaline food in the world.
Speaker:I started on my journey to discover algae when my younger sister
Speaker:developed breast cancer 15 years ago.
Speaker:She's fine now, but her oncologist, which is a cancer specialist, told her
Speaker:to change her diet to an alkaline diet cuz it would help with her healing.
Speaker:And now we know why is cuz of the that cellular.
Speaker:pH is very important for preventing, um, cancer to, um, to take hold.
Speaker:So, So we all have cancer cells in our, in our bodies.
Speaker:By the way, cancer is the term that's given to, uh, the growth of, uh,
Speaker:uncontrolled growth of unhealthy cells.
Speaker:And it, it's, so, it covers a wide swath of, uh, uh, activities.
Speaker:But normally if you have healthy mitochondria, um, you will
Speaker:have a healthy immune system.
Speaker:So the two of them kind of become, Um, security, your protection and stops
Speaker:the overflow of these cancer cells.
Speaker:Now this unfortunate reality is in the world that we live in right
Speaker:now, there most people do not have a strong MIT healthy mitochondria
Speaker:or a strong immune system.
Speaker:So we're sitting ducks and, um, and, and I.
Speaker:I'd like to help educate people because if you at least know how your body works,
Speaker:then you can start to protect yourself with some things like algae, which are
Speaker:really the most basic, um, way to do that.
Speaker:So, so, because damaged mitochondria lead to.
Speaker:Um, all kinds of chronic disease.
Speaker:In fact, not, they've realized that all, it doesn't matter whether it's
Speaker:Alzheimer's heart disease or cancer, it's all a mitochondria disease.
Speaker:Every, and mitochondria, um, are where 90% of your inflammation occurs,
Speaker:and mitochondria are what generate.
Speaker:What's called a t p, it's cellular energy.
Speaker:So when your mitochondria are damaged, they don't, your body and
Speaker:your cells don't have the energy to, to protect you against cancer or
Speaker:against viruses or against anything.
Speaker:And cell cell communication drops.
Speaker:The cells replicate in a damaged form and they die.
Speaker:So, a, you have fewer of them to protect you, and B, the ones that are, are
Speaker:still there, aren't working very well.
Speaker:So, so the number one thing to do is to protect your mitochondria.
Speaker:And you can do that either by, um, uh, um, reducing the free radicals
Speaker:that are produced in the, uh, mitochondria or, um, removing them.
Speaker:And the reason they, um, you get so much damage is because your mitochondria.
Speaker:Um, they're these little peanut shaped things.
Speaker:They're inside the cell and there can be as many as 2 million of
Speaker:these in per cell in your brain.
Speaker:Crazy, right?
Speaker:I mean, that's, wow.
Speaker:Let's talk about congested, uh, but their mitochondria of their own dna, n a and
Speaker:that dna, n a is located exactly where.
Speaker:The ATP is produced and a byproduct of ATTP is free radical damage.
Speaker:So because your mitochondria DNA n are getting so damaged all the time, this
Speaker:interferes with cellular communication.
Speaker:This interferes with healthy cell re replication.
Speaker:And when something like cancer takes hold, normally your cells, if they're healthy,
Speaker:they they sort of go, Ooh, I'm not feeling so well, I think maybe I should die.
Speaker:And, and the process is called ptosis, apoptosis or autophagy.
Speaker:And the best analogy, um, I've, I've come up with is it's sort of like,
Speaker:Hey, your cell's been doing great work for you, and it realizes it's sick.
Speaker:And it sort of retires itself, but it does it in a very organized way.
Speaker:It's called this apoptosis, which is different from another
Speaker:process, which is called necrosis.
Speaker:Apoptosis is when the cell knows it's sick.
Speaker:This is when it's healthy, it knows it's sick, says it's
Speaker:goodbye to all its friends.
Speaker:Subdivides into a whole bunch of other mini versions cuz it allocates the
Speaker:sort of like when you're, you know, that you're nearing your end, you kind
Speaker:of give away all your goodies, or you get my jewelry and you get my house.
Speaker:It sells the same way.
Speaker:You know, you get this part of my mitochondria, you get that, and then
Speaker:it, and then it just decomposes.
Speaker:But then, but if you have, uh, an unhealthy.
Speaker:It doesn't know it's unhealthy.
Speaker:That's when you have a cancer cell.
Speaker:And so it, uh, it goes through a different process of death called necrosis.
Speaker:Now ptosis is when you have the healthy cell, it goes,
Speaker:oops, I'm not feeling so well.
Speaker:I'm, I think I've got, you know, I should really get outta here.
Speaker:It subdivides and it can, and it gives away all of its
Speaker:goodies with no inflammation.
Speaker:But when you have an unhealthy cell that doesn't know that it's
Speaker:sick, uh, and this can also happen with, uh, uh, maybe an injury.
Speaker:Uh, it's basically splits all its guts, all the.
Speaker:Sickness and the sickness spills out into the rest of your tissue and causes damage.
Speaker:So what happens?
Speaker:Uh, one of the cool things about spirulina is that blue Phycocyanin, which has been
Speaker:proven to, um, stimulate this apoptosis.
Speaker:Of just cancer cells.
Speaker:And the best analogy I've come up with is, you know, we, we all love bubble wrap.
Speaker:We like to poke those bubbles, right?
Speaker:So this blue FICO signin has the, imagine the bubble being
Speaker:the equivalent of a cancer cell.
Speaker:The blue FICO signin triggers something called the, uh, cytochrome C.
Speaker:It's, I don't wanna get too geeky, but that triggers apoptosis
Speaker:of cancer cells or sick cells.
Speaker:So it's like Popp.
Speaker:It just pops that, that cancer cell, but it leaves the rest of the cells alone.
Speaker:It just knows through various receptor cells to go after the cancer cells.
Speaker:It's so powerful.
Speaker:The, the, the.
Speaker:Chemotherapy companies use Phycocyanin in their treatments.
Speaker:And if you don't believe me, I would encourage you to go online and,
Speaker:and I'll, I'll spell Phycocyanin for you cuz it's slightly, un un.
Speaker:It's a mouthful.
Speaker:It's P H Y C O C Y A N I N.
Speaker:FICOs Signin, P H Y C O C Y A N I N.
Speaker:And just Google FICOs, signin and Cancer.
Speaker:But the pharmaceutical industry doesn't want you to know that you can get the
Speaker:same benefits from FICO sign, and just by taking it every day in spirulina,
Speaker:they want, you know, unfortunately, The way the cancer industry has evolved.
Speaker:They don't want you to die, but they also don't want you to heal.
Speaker:So, um, it's, it's very, and, and, you know, I started this because
Speaker:my sister had cancer, so it's, you know, cancer is just very ugly.
Speaker:It's, um, people go through so much, uh, pain, um, it's, it's
Speaker:just, it shatters your life.
Speaker:It shatters the lives of the people around them.
Speaker:It's just awful.
Speaker:So anything that we can do, Prevent that from happening.
Speaker:And the thing with cancer, or also heart disease or Alzheimer's or any chronic
Speaker:disease, it doesn't show up overnight.
Speaker:These diseases have taken 20 years sometimes to start building.
Speaker:Now the first 10 years you probably don't even have symptoms, and then the symptoms
Speaker:start showing up and you kind of ignore them cuz you're busy and you're going on
Speaker:a holiday and you're blah, blah, blah.
Speaker:Until.
Speaker:It's so bad that you go for a diagnosis and then, then it's, you're, it, you know,
Speaker:you're traumatized because now you have to go through so much vigorous and rigorous
Speaker:treatment to unravel this process.
Speaker:And so I'm here to tell people, you don't need to get to that danger zone if you
Speaker:take some steps now to protect yourself.
Speaker:And so, um, the key is, is again, this.
Speaker:Non-invasive protection that you get from mitochondria or from from algae.
Speaker:So you may say, well, why is it so helpful?
Speaker:Well, I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker:So there's so much free radical damage that's causing the mitochondria to
Speaker:be diseased and normally, Uh, well I'm gonna show you a picture of the
Speaker:mitochondria cuz this helps explain it.
Speaker:Your mitochondria are your only cell in your body that has two membranes.
Speaker:Most of your, all of your membranes ha, are what's called a lipid membrane.
Speaker:It's a fat-based membrane and.
Speaker:It has little holes in it called Porins, P O R I N S, that allow antioxidants
Speaker:and proteins, anything in and out.
Speaker:Good news, your mitochondria has that too, but your mitochondria have a second inner
Speaker:membrane that is impenetrable to any of those, um, anti traditional antioxidants,
Speaker:proteins, not even drugs can get.
Speaker:It's in total lockdown.
Speaker:However, there are four antioxidants that can get in
Speaker:there to stop free radical damage.
Speaker:And the good news is your body makes three of them, and they are super oxidase,
Speaker:mutase, melatonin, and um, uh, uh.
Speaker:Glutathione.
Speaker:The fourth one is chlorophyl, which your body doesn't make, but you know,
Speaker:we now your body makes all those yay.
Speaker:So you're protected.
Speaker:But the bad news is they stop making them after the age of 30.
Speaker:So after you hit 30.
Speaker:Your number of mitochondria, your amount of melatonin, super oxydase,
Speaker:glutathione drops, and at the same time, this is when the toxins come in.
Speaker:You've been living longer, and now you've accumulated more toxicity.
Speaker:This is the perfect storm.
Speaker:This is when cancer, heart disease, brain fog, dementia.
Speaker:This is when it all hits right after 40 because your mitochondria are no longer
Speaker:being protected from free radical damage.
Speaker:And what does that free radical damage look?
Speaker:Well, here's a picture of a healthy mitochondria and a damaged mitochondria.
Speaker:See all the spaces in here?
Speaker:That's because there's this thing called the, um, uh, electron transport
Speaker:chain that, um, are, are where the electrons in your mitochondria are
Speaker:transferred to eventually create a attp.
Speaker:But when you have damaged mitochondria, I'm gonna show you another picture.
Speaker:Those, um, those kind of little stations that are normally cluster.
Speaker:Closely together start separating.
Speaker:So it's like Tom Brady g asking Tom Brady to give a pass in a,
Speaker:in a, in a stadium that's three times the size of a normal one.
Speaker:It ke they can't pass the electrons, so they, they leak out.
Speaker:Which causes more free radical damage, cuz now they oxidate.
Speaker:And so the spaces get bigger and bigger and bigger.
Speaker:And that's what causes this, this damage inside the mitochondria.
Speaker:So they can't communicate, they can't generate a t p.
Speaker:And this is, remember there's millions of these little guys
Speaker:damaged inside your cells.
Speaker:If you can't protect them against that free radical damage, which those
Speaker:three antioxidants that your body normally makes until you hit 30 now.
Speaker:No wonder when we hit 30.
Speaker:This is when chronic disease hits because we had all that protection
Speaker:from the moment we were born.
Speaker:And then boom, we don't have it anymore.
Speaker:And the sad reality is you can't get suox, mutase, melatonin or glutathione in
Speaker:enough, in high enough quantities to, uh, get in to, to do any, to, to fill the gap.
Speaker:Basical.
Speaker:But, and I used to think to myself, well, why did Mother Nature
Speaker:stop giving us this protection?
Speaker:I mean, she's so intelligent.
Speaker:Our bodies are so refined.
Speaker:Well, I did some research and found out that until a couple, a
Speaker:hundred years ago, we died at 30.
Speaker:Our biology thinks we're still dying at 30.
Speaker:It's only recently that we're living longer, so, Our biology is
Speaker:not caught up with our destiny.
Speaker:So this is why I love Al.
Speaker:One of the many reasons I love algae so much is cuz I've done
Speaker:lab tests and found out our algae.
Speaker:Not everybody's has the same highest concentration of glutathione,
Speaker:melatonin, supr, oxy, oxygenase, and chlorophyll in the world.
Speaker:So we can replace the missing parts that your mitochondria need
Speaker:to, um, stop free radical damage.
Speaker:And at the same time, chlorella.
Speaker:It's pulling out the toxins.
Speaker:This is what's gonna flatline your inflammation.
Speaker:This will get you over the hump.
Speaker:This will turn around your cancer scenario.
Speaker:Um, this will turn around heart disease, um, because it's, and it's
Speaker:not just the FICO signin, which has been proven to kill cancer cells.
Speaker:Um, there's also a.
Speaker:An enzyme in both the spirulina and chlorella, but spirulina in
Speaker:particular called superoxide dismutase.
Speaker:And that's, as I mentioned, is the one that can get into the mitochondria
Speaker:to stop free radical damage.
Speaker:But it's an enzyme and so you can't use high heat to uh, dry your algae
Speaker:and expect that enzyme to still work cuz it will just be killed.
Speaker:So you can either buy frozen spirulina or ours if you.
Speaker:Um, oxidase that's, that's active and, and, and that works.
Speaker:So the, the combination of the blue pigment that stimulates apoptosis
Speaker:and the, um, so that you kill the cancer cells and nothing else.
Speaker:And the blue.
Speaker:And the superoxide dismutase that protects the mitochondria so that the,
Speaker:so that your cells will identify earlier if they're sick and then go through
Speaker:their own autophagy or apoptosis.
Speaker:Um, or it will also, um, just stimulate, it's also an antioxidant, so it just
Speaker:helps, again, protect the mitochondria.
Speaker:So, um, it, the other cool thing about that, um, blue pigment is
Speaker:it's proven to have what's called, um, anti-angiogenesis properties.
Speaker:What that means is that it stops the growth of blood
Speaker:vessels to tumors or cancer.
Speaker:Um, what, what cancer cells do is they basically hijack blood vessels.
Speaker:And, uh, to, and reroute them to feed, to feed them, um, the, the, the,
Speaker:um, the blood flow that they need.
Speaker:Uh, and cancer cells grow through, uh, an anaerobic process, um,
Speaker:which is different from what you normally would have in your cells.
Speaker:So, um, it's, uh, they're, they don't follow the traditional a t p production
Speaker:process, so it's, so the fact.
Speaker:Um, blue pigment that is not found anywhere else in the world,
Speaker:in any other food and has been there from the very beginning.
Speaker:And there's thousands of studies documenting its ability to kill
Speaker:cancer cells is, is pretty, uh, pretty amazing to me.
Speaker:Um, and then, and then you get the benefits also of the chlorella algae,
Speaker:which pulls out toxins because, you know, toxins also damage cell membrane.
Speaker:Also damage mitochondria interfere with the effectiveness of those, the, the
Speaker:what's called the electron transport chain that's inside the mitochondria.
Speaker:Um, so that you get, again, more leaked, um, free radicals.
Speaker:Now you're never gonna get to zero free radicals.
Speaker:This excess inflammation and, and, uh, what's called reactive oxygen species
Speaker:occurs when the, there's the balance between, uh, the free radical production
Speaker:is, is gotten too high, and, um, on top of the fact that our bodies are too acidic.
Speaker:So we're like a sitting duck for cancer cells to start forming.
Speaker:It's just a slippery slope.
Speaker:Um, and, and you know, you can take spirulina cuz you wanna have a great run
Speaker:or you don't wanna eat vegetables or you, you know, you, you're traveling and you
Speaker:wanna be sure you have good nutrition.
Speaker:But, and I just wrote an article about this, like, who would've ever thought
Speaker:that you could have a great smoothie and stop cancer at the same time?
Speaker:I mean, it's just, it bottles the mind that you, you, there's something that's
Speaker:so protective and, um, it's been used in.
Speaker:For 70 years.
Speaker:I mean, it's a multi-billion dollar industry there.
Speaker:Uh, and we just don't, under, nobody's explained the, these
Speaker:longevity health benefits.
Speaker:They, everybody knows it's a super food, but I, I bet you if you ask
Speaker:anybody on the street, they're not really sure exactly what it does.
Speaker:They just know that it's good for them and so they take it.
Speaker:So I try to break it down.
Speaker:So that you can understand, and it's not just cancer.
Speaker:I mean it also has been proven to stop heart disease, Alzheimer's.
Speaker:Um, anywhere there's a high concentration of mitochondria, and that's your
Speaker:brain, and your heart and your muscles.
Speaker:By the way, athletes anyway, athletes are listening.
Speaker:Your average muscle has 5,000 mitochondria per cell.
Speaker:So if you want to extend your athletic career, You need to a,
Speaker:obviously build muscle, but you have to protect your mitochondria.
Speaker:Um, they're, a lot of you often read about these marathon runners, um, falling
Speaker:dead from a heart attack in the middle of a, of a race or, or, you know, N f L
Speaker:players, they were at top of their game.
Speaker:They looked healthy, they were strong, but turned out that they had mitochondria
Speaker:disease in their, in their heart.
Speaker:Um, so, um, you, you, you, you can't just focus on the muscles, you.
Speaker:You gotta manage the process and you can't get any deeper, you can't get
Speaker:any more upstream than mitochondria.
Speaker:That's where everything, all the good stuff and all the bad stuff happens.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I, uh, I also a good point I think to make for, um, anyone, uh, who has
Speaker:been diagnosed with cancer as well, if, uh, If you are going through
Speaker:like a traditional chemotherapy treatment, um, you know, these are
Speaker:gonna be very beneficial as well.
Speaker:Just in terms of bolstering the immune system too.
Speaker:Yes.
Speaker:And helping you Absolutely.
Speaker:To, uh, you know, because obviously chemotherapy is so taxing on the
Speaker:body and especially the immune system, hence immunotherapy.
Speaker:Uh, so I think, you know, Not a medical professional, but you know,
Speaker:combining spirulina and chlorella with a traditional treatment like that
Speaker:as well would be super beneficial.
Speaker:Um, and, and you know, it's like you said, these, you know, spirulina
Speaker:and chlorella are so packed with vitamins and minerals and just so
Speaker:many amazing things in them that.
Speaker:Uh, you know, for myself, for example, I eat, uh, a diet that's
Speaker:pretty high in, in vegetables and fruit and high quality meat.
Speaker:Uh, but still I take, uh, spirulina and chlorella every single day.
Speaker:The energy, uh, I do the one that's, uh, the blend I believe
Speaker:is, is that the energy tax?
Speaker:Yeah, that's, that's vitality.
Speaker:Vitality, yeah.
Speaker:That's, uh, half and half spirulina and chlorella, so yeah.
Speaker:It makes it easy.
Speaker:Yeah, and, and I, I do that though because I know that through a lot of
Speaker:the monocropping that's going on, The way we're producing our produce, it,
Speaker:they're, they're just naturally less, uh, you know, they contain less amounts
Speaker:of these very necessary vitamins and minerals that we really, really need.
Speaker:Um, so yeah, it's, I, yeah, I'm singing the praises over here, but I, yeah, I,
Speaker:I really wanted to also make that point that if you are going through like chemo,
Speaker:uh, chemotherapy, yes, it's a great idea.
Speaker:Even with.
Speaker:Well, and, and as you know, chemotherapy just wipes out your energy.
Speaker:And of course spirulina will, you know, get you back some a t p
Speaker:production at the cellular level.
Speaker:And also for anybody who is taking chemotherapy, I definitely want
Speaker:you to take chlorella, take it the next day because it will identify
Speaker:it as a toxin and pull excess chemo out so you're not as nauseous.
Speaker:Cuz that's the one of the big things is it makes you really nauseous if you
Speaker:have any kind of condition already.
Speaker:Heart disease.
Speaker:Cancer, doesn't matter what it is.
Speaker:We, I you definitely wanna double up or triple up the quantities.
Speaker:Don't be afraid to take too many.
Speaker:I, I've had over a hundred a day for 13 years, so, um, and as I said, our
Speaker:NHL players take 75 spirulina to give them energy on the ice before the game.
Speaker:And they take another 75 of the chlorella to pull Atlantic acid afterwards.
Speaker:So, um, It's, you know, what have you got to lose, right?
Speaker:It's just food.
Speaker:Um, but very, very, very concentrated, but effortless.
Speaker:Um, I call it your health insurance.
Speaker:I mean, I, it's not just nutritional insurance, it's health insurance.
Speaker:And, um, with, uh, with our large bags of a th a thousand tablets, I
Speaker:did the math and you know, if you take 10 a day, if now this is, if you're
Speaker:healthy, 10 a day should be sufficient.
Speaker:Uh, that bag will last you three months.
Speaker:It'll cost, it'll cost you a dollar a day.
Speaker:You know, what's a, what's a coffee at at, uh, at Starbucks these days?
Speaker:You know, three bucks, three three or $4, 10 tablets.
Speaker:Get dollar a day.
Speaker:By the way, you can cut out probably your multivitamin, your fish oil, your coq.
Speaker:Um, bio a lot, so it'll save you money.
Speaker:And again, uh, it just simplifies things.
Speaker:We have people who love to travel with these.
Speaker:They just throw a because we sell 'em in large boxes.
Speaker:They sell, they throw them in their handbag or their gym bag.
Speaker:I, I, I, I travel with.
Speaker:The little tins I, you can hear, you can usually hear me coming cuz my tins
Speaker:rattle in my pockets are everywhere.
Speaker:So it, um, it's probably the best thing you'll ever do for yourself.
Speaker:And I like it because it's effortless.
Speaker:Um, like I say, I wrote this article and it's like, you don't have
Speaker:to, there's no big user manual.
Speaker:You don't have to change your diet.
Speaker:Just add them that.
Speaker:Uh, give them to your pets.
Speaker:Give them to your kids.
Speaker:Uh, spirulina is so safe.
Speaker:You can give it to newborns, uh, if you're pregnant or, or nursing.
Speaker:They're terrific.
Speaker:Um, and the only, um, uh, and there's no contraindications with either of
Speaker:them, but we just, um, let people know that because chlorella pulls
Speaker:out toxins and like, including heavy metals, uh, and some medications.
Speaker:Aluminum or metals in them.
Speaker:You may wanna take this a couple hours either before or after your medication.
Speaker:Cause we don't wanna, you know, interfere and, and always do.
Speaker:The best thing is always check with your practitioner.
Speaker:Although I will tell you, most of them know nothing about nutrition unless
Speaker:you're at a functional medicine doctor.
Speaker:Um, Who would, or a chiropractor, and most people take the spline in the morning and
Speaker:we recommend you take the chlorella at night because your body goes through a
Speaker:detoxer para cycle when you're sleeping.
Speaker:By the way, sleep is probably the other great gift that Mother Nature
Speaker:has given us, um, because during deep sleep is when the repair.
Speaker:Cycle does occur, and also the detox.
Speaker:So if you have chlorella in there, it's like having the cleanup crew
Speaker:while you're getting your Beautyrest.
Speaker:I was at a conference recently and I said, you know, because this is so nourishing
Speaker:and this is so cleaning, I thought, well, this is sort of like, um, room
Speaker:service, and this is like housekeeping.
Speaker:Love that.
Speaker:No, that's awesome.
Speaker:Help, help you remember, right?
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I got an awesome room service, so, okay, well, time to clean up.
Speaker:That's perfect.
Speaker:Yeah, that's, no, that's, and honestly, every now and again, I'll, I'll kind
Speaker:of forget, uh, which one does what, but obviously on the packages wall
Speaker:you can see like beauty as well.

Speaker:That's like, you know, for the cleansing, but I love that little analogy.

Speaker:Well, and um, the other thing that's, um, getting people, uh, uh, to pay a bit more
Speaker:attention is their brain health anxiety.
Speaker:Um, mental health.
Speaker:I mean, COVID was a disaster for our brain health.
Speaker:And, um, it's so prevalent now.
Speaker:Thank God people are talking about it.
Speaker:There's, uh, apps, there's all sorts of great ways to.
Speaker:You know, start learning how to heal your brain.
Speaker:And, and I mentioned to you earlier, there's this terrific book that came
Speaker:out a couple of months ago by Dr.
Speaker:Um Braum, Chris Palmer called Brain Energy.
Speaker:And in his book, uh, and he's at the Harvard Medical School, um, in his
Speaker:book, he talks about how every health brain issue is a mitochondria issue.
Speaker:And again, it's because there's 2 million mitochondria per cell.
Speaker:So it doesn't matter whether it's.
Speaker:You know, post-traumatic stress disorder or anxiety or Alzheimer's, uh, and
Speaker:Alzheimer's is just the worst experience because the, your, you just watch, your
Speaker:loved ones just fade away, uh, from you.
Speaker:And so we have found both research and also anecdotally that again, the spirulina
Speaker:in particular, Helps prevent that.
Speaker:I mean, again, it's because of the, uh, FICO signin and, and the super oxydase.
Speaker:Um, and I've got research papers, hundreds of them.
Speaker:Um, I'll just, you know, walk you through a couple of the things that
Speaker:it does, the super oxydase against.
Speaker:Stops free radical damage.
Speaker:So it improves neuroplasticity and reduces amyloid plaques.
Speaker:So it revives your brain cuz your, your brain, your bo all of your
Speaker:cells are constantly reg regrowing.
Speaker:They thought for a while the brain didn't, but they're realizing that it does.
Speaker:Um, and if you can get rid of those amyloid plaques, cuz that's, uh,
Speaker:an indication of Alzheimer's and it improves, uh, stem cell genesis.
Speaker:So that's from the superoxide dismutase, which also, by the way,
Speaker:they've discovered, helps reduce the shortening of telomeres.
Speaker:Telomeres are where your DNA N is stored, and when they.
Speaker:Get shortened.
Speaker:The, it's sort of like watching a, if you have one of those a, a a rope and you,
Speaker:and it's fringed, there's it unravels on either ends and then it just falls apart.
Speaker:Well, that's literally what's happening to your DNA N when the telomeres shrink.
Speaker:So your DNA n a spills out.
Speaker:Um, and so your cells, uh, replicate in a damaged form because
Speaker:the DNA n is no longer intact.
Speaker:Well, the suox dismutases, which is that enzyme that can't, Is killed
Speaker:by heat, it stops that process.
Speaker:That's pretty sweet.
Speaker:Um, so that's pretty, um, you know, very, very important and it just
Speaker:stops again that cellular mutation.
Speaker:And then the blue phycocyanin also stops inflammation.
Speaker:And, you know, there is a lot, you know, a lot of people getting brain, uh, cancer.
Speaker:So obviously, um, stops with that.
Speaker:So, so those are two really powerful nutrients not found anywhere.
Speaker:Um, other than spirulina, uh, well, there's oxidase a little
Speaker:bit in, in chlorella, and then, you know, again, the spirulina is
Speaker:loaded with essential fatty acid.
Speaker:Your brain is mostly fat.
Speaker:It needs healthy fats like omega-3.
Speaker:Um, you, um, and it, it spirulina has omega-3.
Speaker:It also has one called gla, which is like an omega-3.
Speaker:It's.
Speaker:Technically an Omega six, but because we don't heat it, uh,
Speaker:it behaves like an omega-3.
Speaker:Um, so it's very, um, nor nourishing to your brain.
Speaker:And you probably don't know this, but um, uh, sp chlorophyl is a fat-based pigment.
Speaker:I don't know if I have a, um, slide I was gonna show you.
Speaker:Um, and why is that important?
Speaker:It'd be, it is cuz your cell walls need, like I said, healthy fats.
Speaker:So I don't think I have.
Speaker:And the, because Chlorophyl is a fat-based pigment.
Speaker:It behaves like an omega-3, it heals the cell walls in your brain and anywhere.
Speaker:So, um, and then also both the algae, um, particularly chlorella,
Speaker:have something called vitamin k2.
Speaker:K2 moves excess calcium out of soft tissue.
Speaker:It's like, oh, what's so bad about calcium?
Speaker:Well, you want it in your bones.
Speaker:You don't, or your teeth, you don't want.
Speaker:Sitting in soft tissue, which is your brain, uh, your heart, your organs, your
Speaker:skin, because what it does is it causes, um, uh, it soli, it, it, it hardens.
Speaker:And they're realizing arterio sclerosis is, which is hardening of the arteries.
Speaker:What's hardening is the calcium.
Speaker:They're realizing a lot of Alzheimer's is calcification in your brain.
Speaker:Um, uh, um, kidney stones are calcification, uh, you know, so you
Speaker:wanna get rid of that excess calcium.
Speaker:Um, and K2 is the vitamin that does it.
Speaker:Um, but we're almost all short of vitamin K two.
Speaker:Um, because, uh, it's related to K one, but it's completely different and it.
Speaker:It has this capability of moving the, so the, uh, calcium away.
Speaker:Now, uh, if you eat grass fed animal protein, you may be okay.
Speaker:Um, but uh, and we used to all eat grass-fed animal protein
Speaker:until the sixties, right?
Speaker:Cuz that's where cattle were raised on pastures.
Speaker:Well, it turns out that the cattle have an extra bacteria in their stomach
Speaker:that could convert K one, which is what's in stuff that's green into k2.
Speaker:And so when we were eating animal protein, uh, especially, you know, red meat, we
Speaker:were getting K2 cuz it was in their body.
Speaker:But then of course the farmers realize that if they put all the
Speaker:cattle in enclosures and fed them corn, they would get a lot more
Speaker:money cuz they would get fat.
Speaker:A lot faster and overnight the supply of K2 in our food supply disappeared.
Speaker:And it coincides exactly when heart disease started escalating,
Speaker:cuz in the early seventies is when that K2 disappeared from our diet.
Speaker:Um, fortunately now people are understanding regenerative ar
Speaker:agriculture and we have many.
Speaker:Ways to get grass fed, uh, animal protein back into our diet, but that's only
Speaker:for the few of us that can afford it.
Speaker:Um, the majority of people are not, um, are, are deficit in k2 and
Speaker:this again, contributes to so many.
Speaker:Um, issues, heart issues, brain issues, any kind of health
Speaker:issues, but it's in the algae.
Speaker:So you could also get a, a very high concentration in a dish called nato,
Speaker:which the Japanese eat all the time.
Speaker:It's kind of slimy and I have not yet met a single person in North America
Speaker:that likes it, but it's very concentrated and you can also buy K2 supplements now.
Speaker:Uh, but they are made from.
Speaker:They're made from fermented chickpeas and, um, K2 is a complicated vitamin.
Speaker:It has all these M four, M five N six s and the one that, um, gets into the
Speaker:brain, I think it's M four, and that's what's in the grass fed animal protein.
Speaker:And the algae, the ones that are made from the fermented chickpeas
Speaker:cannot get into your brain.
Speaker:So I tell people, well, what, you know, you might as well get something
Speaker:that's gonna work on everything.
Speaker:So, uh, you know, that's why I, you know, PE people, when I
Speaker:first started the company, they kept asking me if I was vegan.
Speaker:And I, no, I, I've never been vegan, although when I went to nutrition school,
Speaker:everybody was vegan and, you know, I tried, but it didn't work for me.
Speaker:And, and this is why it's so important to pay attention to
Speaker:your own body, your own biology.
Speaker:Uh, they've realized that people that, you know, ancestrally, if you come
Speaker:from Northern European countries, You probably are better with be with meat.
Speaker:Um, other people may not be.
Speaker:But, um, do yourself a favor and, and don't choose.
Speaker:Try not to choose your food for your health based on
Speaker:what other people are doing.
Speaker:What seems to be the fad, uh, because there's.
Speaker:You know, falling a fad and feeling feeling sick is not
Speaker:a, not a good outcome for you.
Speaker:Um, pay attention to how you feel.
Speaker:This is when it gets down to, back to things like being present when you eat,
Speaker:being more meditative with your choices.
Speaker:Um, the, all the good stuff is free breathing, deeply, walking
Speaker:in nature, getting a good sleep, providing yourself with self-love.
Speaker:And you know, I.
Speaker:Put algae right in there because it's so natural.
Speaker:I mean, you can't argue with something that was the first life on earth,
Speaker:uh, four a billion years ago.
Speaker:And Anne is still here.
Speaker:So, um, uh, uh, it's, we're in such a fast-paced world that is so, you
Speaker:know, stresses us out, which by the way is acidic cuz it causes
Speaker:cascade of cortisol, which is acidic and you know, blah, blah, blah.
Speaker:Um, being calm and.
Speaker:Loving yourself and keeping, taking deep breaths and really focusing on your meal,
Speaker:meals and meal time, um, is really, it's free and it will do you so much good.
Speaker:And then, and then you can add things like, you know, algae to up your game.
Speaker:But, um, uh, I just want people to know.
Speaker:Good health is not, doesn't have to be complicated.
Speaker:Um, and you don't have to have all the fancy devices, although you can,
Speaker:I mean, I have a red light device and, um, you know, I'm, I'm on board with
Speaker:all of that cause I've read the science.
Speaker:So there's really good things that happen there.
Speaker:But just strip it down to the basics and, um, you'll, you'll be okay.
Speaker:Yeah, no, uh, it's funny, when we first started this
Speaker:episode, I was like, oh, okay.
Speaker:You know, I, I wonder what new information we're gonna be able to talk about today.
Speaker:I knew I had a couple topics, but Catherine, you, you, you ceased to
Speaker:amaze me with your, your massive amount of knowledge on this.
Speaker:This is amazing.
Speaker:Um, no, you're too kind.
Speaker:But there is, it's not me that has the knowledge.
Speaker:The knowledge is out there.
Speaker:I've just.
Speaker:Sounded.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:But, and, and like I said, the, the fact that you are spreading that
Speaker:knowledge, cuz I think it was, uh, last time we were talking, you also
Speaker:mentioned, um, a statistic on like how long it takes for, you know, the
Speaker:science that's already been done.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:And then the time in which it takes to actually get it out to the public,
Speaker:like 15 years or something, right?
Speaker:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker:Yeah.
Speaker:I think it's 17 years for a new scientific discovery to make its
Speaker:way to the practitioners and then another 17 for it to make it way out.
Speaker:To consumers.
Speaker:But the irony is the science about algae's been around in some cases for a hundred
Speaker:years, but, um, scientists, God bless them, I mean, they're, they're in labs
Speaker:and they're writing papers and they're, and the, their expertise is not taking
Speaker:these complex concepts that they've discovered and sharing it with the public.
Speaker:They do much better doing their.
Speaker:So, and that's why I call myself a citizen science because I don't
Speaker:come from a scientific background.
Speaker:And for the first few years I kept telling the universe, find somebody else.
Speaker:Cuz you know, I don't have any science, but turns out I am the right person
Speaker:because I, I am a good communicator.
Speaker:Um, and I actually like the science.
Speaker:So, um, but I do encourage people, you know, I'm not the only one.
Speaker:Who can read this stuff.
Speaker:It is available, it does take time.
Speaker:Um, so that way you can, you know, find out for yourself that what
Speaker:I'm telling you is, is correct.
Speaker:I just happen to have amassed a large amount of it.
Speaker:Uh, no, I, I love it, Catherine, and, and I'm so happy to be
Speaker:providing a platform for you to be able to share that information.
Speaker:Um, but yeah, I, it's, it's amazing how fast the time goes here.
