Alan: April is a good time to again plant some of your hardier vegetables. You can plant the cold crops. The cold crops are things like the cabbage, broccoli, Brussels sprouts.
But it's also a good time to plant the perennial vegetables such as asparagus and rhubarb and horseradish. For onions, this is still good time to plant.
A little trick you can do to continue to have a crop is don't plan it all at once. So you can plant things like lettuce and just plant some, wait two weeks, plant some more. And that way you have a supply of lettuce. Until generally around when you get into the hotter summer months, the lettuce struggles.
But you don't want to have all your lettuce ready at once. So if you stagger your plantings, then you can continue to have them as long as the weather's good out there.
