Shownotes

Welcome to this week’s episode of Thyroid Strong where Danielle Richards, a flight nurse working in the field of Emergency Medicine for 12 years, shares her experience in being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s and how the Thyroid Strong workout programs have transformed her life.

Key Takeaways

Danielle Richards comes from a stressful background of medical school, emergency situations, and postpartum with Hashimoto’s. She has been through the ringer of several different diagnoses to finally landing on Hashimoto’s with a functional medicine doctor. She has learned her root causes, continues to make strides to heal them, and has since incorporated resistance training and breathwork into her daily lifestyle to get to feeling better today and long-term.

Postpartum with Hashimoto’s and Before Thyroid Strong

Danielle struggled with not feeling herself after having her first child. She suffered from fatigue, depression, and failing to connect with her newborn. She sought out on a mission to not accept the average answer from any doctor because she knew this was not normal. Her workout routines consisted of activities mostly cardio in things she loved to do, working in the garden and horseback riding. She dared not to pick up weights as they were intimidating and overwhelming.

After Thyroid Strong and with the Help of a Functional Medicine Doctor

Starting with her Hashimoto's diagnosis, Danielle’s lifestyle took a dramatic shift for the better. She found Thyroid Strong and began integrating resistance training because the instructor of the workouts was relatable, a fellow Hashimoto’s woman who has encountered the same obstacles and is not letting the diagnosis define her. Danielle was able to incorporate not only the workout routines but also the breathwork into everything she does, picking up her child, groceries, etc. And with the help of her hormone therapy, Danielle is able to regulate her hormones to better support her Emergency Medicine lifestyle.
