Shownotes

I have been working with women for many years and one of the more perplexing things I have encountered is how often I witness bold, brilliant, badass women doubting themselves, settling for less than they really want, and holding themselves back from the level of success they deserve.

I believe that all behavior is habit-forming, so in order to become more confident, women need to stop thinking so much and just act. We need to commit to doing work that is good enough, instead of striving for perfection.  We must learn to act before we think we are ready.  And, because moving away from comfort and toward fear is counterintuitive, we would do well to surround ourselves with other women who are committed to doing the same.

Confidence is not just feeling good about yourself, and it is not a reward for good work, but a skill and a choice. Confidence is a belief in one’s ability to succeed, a belief that stimulates action. Taking action increases our belief that we can succeed and confidence accumulates. This is the essence of The Confidence Habit.

Work With Me Today

The women who inform my thinking

This episode was largely based on what I have learned from studying the work of Tara Mohr who wrote the book Playing Big and the Feb 2018 Atlantic Magazine article called The Confidence Gap, from Claire Shipman and Katty Kay, co-authors of the book The Confidence Code.

So, that’s all for now, Driven Woman!  See you next week, when my guest Kellie Roy joins us to talk about what drives her and how she became a successful Hollywood casting director.
