═══🎙 CONCERT ANALYSIS
The final night for us with the Grateful Dead at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Maine, in May 1980. And on Mother's Day no less. The Grateful Dead never fail to play great in Maine, it is an open secret, so how does this show measure up to those who have come before it, or after? The first set had its moments with a ripping opener and a heavy Loser.
Any show that opens with a Scarlet>Fire can't be all that bad. You know it, we know it, but it what rises from the ashes following this pair that can make or break a show. It is the end of the tour for us, so we gladly hang on every note, every word, watching time slip through our fingers, never to come back. It is bittersweet, and none more so than the fitting Brokedown Palace encore:
Life on tour is an adventure, but like all great adventures, it too must eventually come to an end. All the emotion and angst felt this week was unforgettable. We hope you felt the same, or at least felt something. A heartfelt thank you to everyone for joining us on this incredible road trip called life. And while our paths may never cross again, we wish you all the very happiest of times now and forever, into the future and beyond.
