Here’s a great quote I heard the other day: Before I heard a bunch of opinions, I had an idea. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.
Now, I heard that from a friend who’s building a new house. And she used it when explaining why she refused to ask for advice for her project on social media. She didnt’ want to be inundated with opinions that blurred her focus. And the concept really stuck with me. Asking for advice can be helpful, but it can be also rough. And that’s why we’ve spent so long talking about it. When it comes to decorating and paint colors and furniture choices, and stylistic decisions, remember: before you gathered a bunch of opinions, you had an idea. You had a plan.
Don’t be too quick to throw your ideas out the window just because you hear some other opinions. BUT, with that said, remember that if you never look outside your own sphere, it’s tougher to find NEW ideas. It’s a balance. And it takes work to maintain it. If you’re starting a project, don’t be afraid to ask for ideas. Just be sure that you stay true to you and your likes and dislikes along the way! I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
