Last time I told you how I never use dressing rooms at clothing stores. And how my purchases routinely look terrible on me. Now . . . the paint point. I’m Dan Hansen and this is a Minute at RepcoLite.

The paint point here is so easy to see, I’m sure most of you have figured it out. Sample your colors. When you look at a paint chip in the store and decide it’s the right color for your home, you’re making a huge mistake if you make your purchase at that point. Actually, you’re making a bunch of huge mistakes! First, you’re looking at a color in our lighting–the lighting of a retail store. You need to see those colors in YOUR space and actually, you need to look at them at different times of the day to get the full impression of what that color will look like.

Secondly, you’re looking at far too small of a sample! You need to see a larger representation of that color to know if it’s right or not. Third, you need to look at that color actually ON your wall.  Surface texture changes how a color looks.

So: you’ve got to sample the color! And you can do that really easily with Benjamin Moore’s color samples. I’ll lay it all out next time. I’m Dan Hansen and that’s a Minute at RepcoLite.
