🎙️ Her Faith at Work Podcast

Episode 1: Finish Strong: Planning Q4 with Faith + Focus

(Part 1 of 3 in the “Rooted & Ready” Series)

Hey friend — welcome back to Her Faith at Work. Okay, I have to start by saying this: I love fall. Like, really love it.

Give me the cooler mornings, give me the pumpkin cream cold brew, give me all the cozy sweaters — I am that girl. I tell my husband that if I could live somewhere that was perpetually fall – I would do it.

But also… how on earth are we already staring down Q4?

Like seriously — wasn’t it just May last week?

I know this time of year can bring a weird mix of “yay, fall vibes!” and “oh no, where did the year go?” — especially when it comes to your business. You might be feeling the pressure to push hard to the finish line, or maybe you’re realizing you didn’t hit as many of those January goals as you thought you would.

If that’s you, take a breath — no guilt, no shame. You’re not behind. You’re in exactly the right spot to pause, reflect, and realign. I know that is what I am doing.

r well and start prepping for:

Here we go…

a business that’s ready for:

Oh — and before we dive in, if you’re not already on my email list, now’s the time. I send out weekly encouragement, business strategy, and behind-the-scenes stuff I don’t always share on the podcast. In fact, most of the time it is completely different content. You can jump on that list at jantouchberry.com/newsletter. Hope to see you there.

Today’s conversation is all about one simple question: What’s actually still worth doing before this year ends? Not the pressure-filled version, not the “everyone else is launching something” version — just the real, Holy-Spirit-led, aligned version of what finishing well looks like for you.

So if you’ve been feeling a little frazzled, maybe wondering where the year went and whether you’re even “on track” — take a deep breath. You are not behind. You are still building. And this episode is going to give you space to reset and realign.

Let’s get into it.

Part 1: Look at What’s Already Been Built

Let’s start by doing something we don’t do often enough — look back. How many of you guys have a regular practice of looking back? I must admit that I am getting better at it, but I feel like I can do so much better.

I know the temptation is to jump straight into what’s left to do, but hold up — if you skip this part, you’ll miss the fruit of your own faithfulness.

So grab a notebook or open your Notes app, and I want you to list out at least three wins from this year.

r notebook or planner to your:

Maybe you:

• Launched something new — even if it didn’t go the way you hoped

• Got your first coaching client

• Finally fixed that one broken piece of your funnel

• Or maybe you showed up more consistently — on social, in your emails, or even in prayer over your business

It all counts. You are building something, even if it doesn’t feel flashy.

🛠️ ACTION STEP 1

Take 3–5 minutes right now (like pause the podcast if you’re not driving, come back to it if you are) and jot down 3 things you’ve already done or learned this year. These are your “already dones.” Not just goals — growth.

And listen — if all you’ve done is survive this year with your business still intact? That counts too. Write it down.

Part 2: What Still Needs to Get Done?

Okay. Now that we’ve looked back, let’s look ahead. Not like far ahead – but let’s look at Q4.

Not in a “let me write down everything I haven’t done yet and panic” kind of way.

Instead, I want you to ask:

What actually needs to be done in Q4 — and what doesn’t?

This is where I see so many women get tripped up. We confuse being faithful with being busy. But God doesn’t need your hustle — He wants your alignment in what he is doing right now.

So here’s what I want you to do: (again, if you’re driving… come back to this)

🛠️ ACTION STEP 2

Take a sheet of paper, draw a line down the middle, and label the columns:

• Still Aligned

• Let It Go

look at what’s left on your:

• Does this still support the mission God gave me?

• Is this something I feel peace about pursuing in the next 3 months?

• Or is this just a goal I haven’t released?

Start moving things into one column or the other.

And listen — you’re allowed to let go of goals that don’t fit anymore. You’re allowed to move things to next year. You’re even allowed to shelve an offer you worked hard on if it’s not working.

We’re not gonna call this failure. We’re going to call it clarity.

Now… before we move on – I do want to say that in some cases, there may be a goal or dream that hasn’t worked out and you don’t feel good about it. Maybe you feel like you missed God or you let him down in some way because it didn’t work or didn’t get done.

It is OK to mourn that thing. And if you are in that space, I really encourage you to take some time with the Lord and have a conversation about it so you feel some sense of closure and peace.

Part 3: How to Make a Realistic Q4 Plan

Once you’ve cleared the clutter, it’s time to build a plan for Q4 because that literally starts in like 3 weeks. And we want a plan that doesn’t make you want to crawl into a cave by November. My goal for you would be to work in tandem with Holy Spirit to create a plan that allows you to slay the goals that God has for you in Q4 and carve out time to enjoy the holiday season as well.

So let’s talk about how to plan these next few months in a way that feels grounded — not frantic.

And let’s be real — Q4 is not three “normal” business months. Between holidays, travel, school schedules, and let’s be honest, lower motivation… we have to plan smarter, not harder.

So - you’ve taken stock — you’ve looked at your wins, named what’s still aligned, and released what isn’t — let’s talk about what to actually do with that list.

Because I know it’s easy to write things down and then… leave them there. (see some of the goals and plans you had from January lol)

So here’s what I want you to do next: take the things in your “Still Aligned” column and filter them through the next three months. Not everything is urgent. Not everything needs to happen before the ball drops on December 31st.

Let’s break it down based on how life and business really work in Q4.

🍂 October: Focus & Clean-Up

This is your best month for getting meaningful work done. You’ve got the most days and the least distractions.

So this is where I want you to:

• Pick 1–2 of those aligned goals from your list and schedule them in.

• Use this time to clean up your messaging, revisit your funnel, or refresh your offers.

• Reconnect with your people — especially if you’ve been quiet online.

• Check your data — what’s been working this year? What needs a tweak?

If you’re going to do any planning, prepping, or polishing — this is the month for it.

🦃 November: Sustain + Serve

Listen, November is short. Between Thanksgiving travel, kids home from school, and people already mentally checking out — this is not your “build something new” month. Don’t do it. Resist the urge.

Instead:

• Keep your marketing simple — reuse what you’ve already written this year if it still works.

• Focus on current clients and low-lift offers (think digital products, small sessions, done-for-you templates).

• Maybe highlight things that are giftable or holiday-relevant services if that fits your audience. Because people are going to start buying gifts for people. Is this a strategy that can fit into your business?

Just keep your business visible and your energy sustainable. That’s a win.

🎄 December: Rest + Reflect

This month is not for hustle. Let’s all just agree.

Here’s what it is for:

• Looking at those wins you listed at the beginning of this episode and really celebrating them. Add to them as you move through Q4.

t God wants you to carry into:

• Writing down any lessons or feedback you want to remember before setting next year’s goals

• And then Listen. Rest. Recharge.

If you feel led to share a preview of what’s coming next year, go for it. But keep it light.

Let December serve your soul, not stress it out.

Now, obviously life happens, but this rhythm gives you room to move without losing momentum.

🛠️ ACTION STEP 3

Now grab one more piece of paper or a new note. Write down:

• 1 thing you’ll focus on in October

• 1 key project or offer for November

• 1 way you’ll slow down and reconnect in December

That’s your Q4 plan. That’s it. Three simple intentions. And if you want help mapping this out, I’ve got a free Q4 Planning Guide for you — I’ll tell you where to grab that in just a sec.

But friend, whatever you do — build in your real life.

Put rest on the calendar before you fill it with work. Make space for margin. And don’t underestimate the power of simplifying.

This season isn’t just about finishing strong — it’s about finishing whole and maybe even in a better space than you started in.

Part 4: What God’s Been Teaching Me About This

I’ll be honest — I’ve had to release some things myself this year. Some goals I thought were a sure thing ended up not making the cut. And some things I didn’t expect — God brought them in at just the right time.

It’s a reminder that as a faith-driven business, it isn’t just about being productive — it’s about being responsive.

When you feel the Spirit prompting you to slow down, pivot, or re-evaluate, that’s not failure. That’s formation.

You are not meant to build this thing in your own strength.

You are meant to build in partnership with the One who called you.

Before You Go: A Few Final Things

Here’s what I want you to remember:

• You are not behind.

• You are not too late.

• You are being built.

God’s not waiting for your perfect productivity — He’s after your willing heart.

So take the time this week to reflect, reassess, and refocus. Let this be the quarter where you stop trying to prove something… and start building with peace.

Your Next Steps (Let’s Keep This Simple)

Let me Recap the Action Steps for you:

1. List 3 wins from this year — big or small.

2. Do the “Still Aligned vs. Let It Go” exercise.

3. Set ONE focus for October, November, and December.
