Speaker:

listening to episode 30, one of

burning brightly believing in

2

:

your business before it exists.

3

:

Welcome back to the podcast, everybody

today, we're going to talk about an

4

:

interesting concept and that is how

to believe in our business before we

5

:

actually have a business, something

we may not have considered yet.

6

:

Right.

7

:

we know that belief is crucial

in building this business.

8

:

So how do we get there?

9

:

If doesn't even exist yet,

it's just an idea, right?

10

:

Well, first of all, let's talk about.

11

:

Being women of faith being Christians.

12

:

We know how important faith is.

13

:

We have learned to nourish it.

14

:

We've learned to hold fast to

it and we know how to believe in

15

:

God, even if we can't see him.

16

:

We learned how to communicate

with them, how to feel his love.

17

:

We're able to.

18

:

in him because we have

this thing called faith.

19

:

But if we need to believe in

something that doesn't even exist

20

:

yet, how do we go about doing that?

21

:

How do we use some of this

faith that we've developed?

22

:

And put it into a business

that we want to build.

23

:

But we haven't built yet.

24

:

What if it's just still an idea?

25

:

I personally believe that a business

is like a living, breathing entity.

26

:

It is like an animal.

27

:

And as we're building it, we have to

believe that it's going to succeed.

28

:

But it's hard to imagine

before it's even formed.

29

:

Right.

30

:

It's kind of like if you were to

make career and life plans for

31

:

a baby that you haven't had yet.

32

:

You don't know their personality.

33

:

You don't know their talents.

34

:

You don't know their struggles.

35

:

You don't know anything about them.

36

:

It's going to be really difficult to

go find a future spouse for them or

37

:

decide what career is best for them.

38

:

If the baby isn't even born,

you don't even know them yet.

39

:

So, how is it possible for us to believe

in something that only exists in our mind?

40

:

Well first, let me just

say that it is possible.

41

:

Every entrepreneur does it, whether they

acknowledge that they're doing it or not.

42

:

But I'm going to talk about today and the.

43

:

terms of spiritual creation.

44

:

Okay.

45

:

So I've talked about that before,

a little recap of what I mean.

46

:

Everything that exists physically

in the physical realm once existed

47

:

spiritually, or just in concept for.

48

:

So think about your home

before it was built.

49

:

There were blueprints made for it.

50

:

There was a plan before anybody

even purchased the first nail.

51

:

They had plans for it.

52

:

If you want to make dinner,

you look up a recipe, right?

53

:

There's a concept of it.

54

:

Somebody actually created it

before in, in this case, but there

55

:

is a concept and a plan for it.

56

:

And God himself made plans for his

creation before he actually made it.

57

:

So this is an eternal principle that

we have to plan and make, concept

58

:

of what we want to make before we

can actually make it physically.

59

:

It is so, so critical that we

go through the spiritual or

60

:

conceptual creation phase first.

61

:

Where else we don't know what we're doing.

62

:

We're just kind of flying

by the seat of our pants.

63

:

Without this phase, the

plans never get finalized.

64

:

And your business will be dead

in the water before it starts.

65

:

So make sure that you're making

space for this spiritual creation.

66

:

So, how do we start doing this?

67

:

Well, we start with creating

a vision and this is like my

68

:

absolute favorite part of business.

69

:

It is dreaming.

70

:

So if it's safe to close your

eyes, if you're not driving.

71

:

Then do so do this little activity

with me and if you're driving,

72

:

then do it later, but just close

your eyes for just a moment.

73

:

We're just going to take just a few

seconds to think about your business.

74

:

We're going to look

forward about five years.

75

:

And look at this living, breathing

thing that we've created and

76

:

just examine it for a minute.

77

:

Are you there?

78

:

So five years from now, the year is 2028.

79

:

You have this business and you love it.

80

:

Where do you spend your time

working on this business?

81

:

Is it in an office is in your

home, is in the living room.

82

:

How much time do you

spend on your business?

83

:

Hourly daily.

84

:

Weekly how much time?

85

:

What does your working space look like?

86

:

What's the color of the wall.

87

:

What kind of computer do you use?

88

:

What does your family

do when you're working?

89

:

How do you feel about your

business in five years?

90

:

How many clients or customers

do you have regularly?

91

:

And how many people are you

helping every single year?

92

:

How much money do you make per month?

93

:

How about per year?

94

:

How often do you take vacations

with your family and how

95

:

flexible is your work schedule?

96

:

Do you have a team that you

manage or maybe just an assistant?

97

:

How do you feel about them?

98

:

What are your relationships with them?

99

:

So there, there are no

rules about this vision.

100

:

Just dream.

101

:

Just imagine it can be exactly the way you

want it, because we're just making it up.

102

:

Don't be realistic.

103

:

Don't shut anything down.

104

:

Anything is allowed and anything

is possible at this point.

105

:

Just dream it.

106

:

Spend a little bit of time here today.

107

:

And then.

108

:

Revisit this place as often as possible.

109

:

Now, if you are naturally a dreamer,

this is going to be really fun.

110

:

I do it when I'm just out and about, I'll

be driving my car and I'll just start

111

:

dreaming of my business in a few years.

112

:

This is going to happen and

this is going to happen.

113

:

It's so fun for me.

114

:

If you are more realistic and down

to earth, this might be a challenge.

115

:

My husband is not like this, and I'm

always like, let's dream about our future.

116

:

He's like, I don't know

what you're talking about.

117

:

Life is fine.

118

:

Just the way it is.

119

:

This is not his personality.

120

:

So this might be a challenge for you

if you're more like that, but don't

121

:

judge yourself for any of it, whether

it's hard or easy, or you're dreaming

122

:

of ridiculous fantastical things, or

you can't dream very far in the future.

123

:

That's okay.

124

:

It's all.

125

:

Okay.

126

:

You'll get better as you practice.

127

:

And just embrace all the dreams that

are coming and start right there.

128

:

All right now that you've

experienced this vision.

129

:

Guess what.

130

:

Your business has begun, whether you've

done a single thing towards it or not.

131

:

Maybe you're several

years into it already.

132

:

But the vision is the start of

that spiritual conceptual creation.

133

:

You have started creating it,

even if it's only in your mind.

134

:

And these plans, this

stream is so essential.

135

:

You can go back to it at any

time to change it or tweak it.

136

:

If you'd like to, sometimes my

business starts to develop and

137

:

it changes into something that I

didn't anticipate, but I love it.

138

:

And so I incorporate that into my dream.

139

:

Or sometimes it will start to turn

into something I didn't anticipate.

140

:

And I don't like, and then I

will shift my business to be more

141

:

in alignment with that dream.

142

:

Sometimes I visited just to

be inspired all over again.

143

:

Maybe I've had a hard week or something.

144

:

Didn't work out the way I anticipated.

145

:

I just visit that dream again to think.

146

:

Okay, it's coming.

147

:

It's still coming.

148

:

As an analogy, think for a second,

about going on an incredible vacation.

149

:

Sometimes the planning and the

prep part of a vacation is not fun.

150

:

You're saving and.

151

:

And finding a babysitter and

booking tickets and packing and,

152

:

and kind of annoying things, right.

153

:

To prep for it.

154

:

Sometimes I find myself getting irritated

that I'm not yet on the vacation.

155

:

But when I'm in that place, I

remind myself that it's going

156

:

to be worth it because the

vacation is going to be amazing.

157

:

I don't dream of the airport or the

Uber to the hotel or how I'm going

158

:

to have to take my shoes off at TSA.

159

:

I dream about the destination.

160

:

I dream of lying on the beach

with my sweetheart or sipping hot

161

:

cocoa in front of a blazing fire.

162

:

If it's the winter time, right.

163

:

I dream of the end result.

164

:

Because that's where most of the

joy and the inspiration comes from.

165

:

So, this is what we're

doing for our business.

166

:

Don't dream of what

you're doing next week.

167

:

That's less inspiring

dream of the end result.

168

:

Okay.

169

:

And don't hold back on

how wonderful you make it.

170

:

You can make it as

wonderful as fantastical.

171

:

As unrealistic as humanly

possible, you get to decide.

172

:

And this spiritual creation

in your head will fuel.

173

:

Everything.

174

:

Without it, I've noticed that I can only

really see one to two steps ahead of me.

175

:

I just think I'll do this

thing and I'll do this thing.

176

:

And then I get kind of stuck.

177

:

Like where do I go from here?

178

:

Because I don't have the end goal in mind.

179

:

I don't even know where I'm headed.

180

:

That big dream fuels everything.

181

:

Okay.

182

:

Now once we have that big

dream, what do we do next?

183

:

Well, the next step is to pay

attention to how you personally

184

:

show up in that future business.

185

:

So I like to think about how pretty my

office is and how my kids are always

186

:

super quiet when I'm trying to work.

187

:

And everybody respects my work dive,

and I make a bunch of money and all

188

:

these things, but then I need to

really hyper focus on what I personally

189

:

am doing, especially emotionally.

190

:

Am I taking things very seriously, too.

191

:

Seriously?

192

:

Not seriously enough.

193

:

Probably just the right amount.

194

:

Right?

195

:

I'm having lots of fun, loving

every minute of it, which again,

196

:

might not be super realistic,

but I'm going to dream it.

197

:

myself how enjoyable is

the day-to-day stuff.

198

:

I'm sure there are things that I don't

love, but I pushed my way through.

199

:

And there's plenty that I do.

200

:

How often does that future meet?

201

:

Celebrate my accomplishments.

202

:

Probably pretty often.

203

:

That's what I want to do.

204

:

That's what my future self wants to do.

205

:

So ask yourself how you personally are

showing up in that future business.

206

:

And then start doing those things today.

207

:

Start taking things just

the right amount of serious.

208

:

Start having lots of fun in your business.

209

:

Start enjoying the day-to-day things.

210

:

Who says that you need a six

figure business to enjoy every day.

211

:

Nobody says that you get to decide to

show up today how the future you will.

212

:

And this is so empowering every

time I think about it, I just.

213

:

Become this amazing version of

myself, like, oh my gosh, I do

214

:

know how to enjoy my business.

215

:

Oh my goodness.

216

:

I do know how to solve this problem

that I was headed up against because I

217

:

come at it from this future perspective.

218

:

Right.

219

:

You don't have to be profitable

or even have a single client

220

:

to celebrate your wins.

221

:

To acknowledge that you

are doing an amazing work.

222

:

So I want to share this.

223

:

little thing that I do with you guys.

224

:

Whenever I figure out a tricky, tricky.

225

:

of technology or I finish

a business project.

226

:

That's been taking a long time.

227

:

I love to throw my arms up

in the air and just yell.

228

:

Yes.

229

:

Like I'm a, five-year-old

on a soccer field.

230

:

My family probably thinks I'm crazy.

231

:

Anybody who hears me thinks I'm nuts.

232

:

But that is the business owner.

233

:

I want to be.

234

:

I want to be the person

who acknowledges that.

235

:

She just did something awesome.

236

:

That she just figured something out

that was driving her crazy for awhile.

237

:

And so I do it and sometimes

I'll go tell my husband about it.

238

:

Sometimes I'll tell a friend about it.

239

:

Sometimes I just pat myself on the back.

240

:

Sometimes I jump up and do a little dance.

241

:

I want to celebrate the tiny wins,

even if it's something as simple as

242

:

figuring out how to use Calendly.

243

:

ask yourself how you want to be in

the future and start doing it today.

244

:

note.

245

:

I also want to be the type of

business owner that celebrates

246

:

God when things go well.

247

:

So don't forget that part.

248

:

I love, love, love to

thank him when things go.

249

:

Right.

250

:

Because I know it's not just me.

251

:

So there's a little side note.

252

:

Friends, there will be a lot that goes

right for you and your business journey.

253

:

So many amazing things.

254

:

You're going to look back and think, oh my

goodness, I can't believe that happened.

255

:

I can't believe that happened.

256

:

I can't believe I did that.

257

:

I can't believe I figured that out.

258

:

So embrace all those things and

embrace how awesome you are.

259

:

However, there will also

be lots that goes wrong.

260

:

That is real life.

261

:

So just embrace that inevitability

and do not let it drag you down.

262

:

Again, think of that future dream.

263

:

And just think when my future self runs

into a tech problem, what does she do?

264

:

Well, she doesn't stop in

the corner for an hour.

265

:

We all experienced the

thing that they go wrong.

266

:

We all experienced the little failures.

267

:

Just learn the lesson and move on.

268

:

Just like your future self will.

269

:

She will not let it drag her down.

270

:

Okay.

271

:

Now, finally the final step in believing

this business before it exists is

272

:

to look for hints of that vision

coming to fruition along the path.

273

:

Now first, that will be hard because

your future self is not, probably not

274

:

anticipating all the work is going to

take to just get your website online.

275

:

I get it.

276

:

If for sure going to have to create

this alignment of your current

277

:

self with your future self, through

just your thoughts and emotions.

278

:

You're going to have to do

a lot of mental work for it.

279

:

Okay.

280

:

But then when you start to see

wins, it will get easier and easier.

281

:

You'll get that first client or

that for those first 10 clients.

282

:

You'll make that first thousand

dollars that first $10,000 or

283

:

you'll go on a business trip.

284

:

And you'll realize, oh

my gosh, I'm like a.

285

:

Big girl, grown-up business woman.

286

:

Holy cow.

287

:

How did this happen?

288

:

Right.

289

:

So acknowledge each of these steps.

290

:

And.

291

:

Own the fact that your

dream is slowly coming true.

292

:

Step by step by step.

293

:

Do not ignore them.

294

:

Do not let them slide under the rug and

just think, well, anybody could do that.

295

:

Maybe, but probably not

because you're awesome.

296

:

So just acknowledge that these

things are slowly building this

297

:

dream that you've had a vision of

for awhile step into it and own it.

298

:

I want to make sure that none of us

lets any accomplishment or milestone

299

:

pass us up without us paying

attention and appreciating that

300

:

we're getting closer each step.

301

:

Think about building your business,

like hiking up a big mountain.

302

:

Sometimes it's beautiful and wonderful.

303

:

Sometimes you're hot and sweaty and

tired and you just want to take a rest.

304

:

But when you see mile markers, do you

get mad that you're not there yet?

305

:

And just frustrated at how long

it's taking to reach your goal?

306

:

I know you embrace all

the steps along the way.

307

:

Right?

308

:

You could excited you think, oh

my gosh, look how far we've come.

309

:

Sometimes you turn around and

look back down the mountain.

310

:

And see, holy cow, I can't

even see our car now.

311

:

We've walked so far.

312

:

That's what I want you to do each

step of the way on your business is

313

:

to look backwards and realize just

how much progress you've made and

314

:

celebrate each win in each milestone.

315

:

Even if it takes longer than we

anticipated, because guess what?

316

:

It will take longer than you anticipate.

317

:

It will take longer than you want.

318

:

Guaranteed.

319

:

own that fact, embrace it and

just celebrate every milestone.

320

:

Remember, the only way to fail at this

business thing is to just give up.

321

:

So if we don't give up, we're

going to succeed eventually.

322

:

So create your vision, tap into

it regularly, give yourself

323

:

something amazing to believe in.

324

:

And if you need to create a

physical manifestation of it, so

325

:

you can build a vision board or

journal about it, put it someplace.

326

:

You can revisit it regularly.

327

:

Don't lose sight of it.

328

:

You need to believe in this incredible

thing you're building even before it

329

:

exists and eventually it will, and

it's going to be an incredible thing.

330

:

So let's go out and have

the rest of our lives.

331

:

All right, friends, we'll

talk to you next week.
