Wednesday because God is in charge of this crazy bus called the Christian Journey first, today's Wednesday classic sermon is actually a chapter in one of my books that I've written.

It's hard for people to sometimes understand the difference between having a great sense of expectation and confidence in God and a mindset of always operating in positive speech, positive thinking, where everything is positive and the world is always yay, yay, yay.

The truth of the matter is we can do anything through Christ and in fact, we can do nothing without him.

So we take that to the next level where it needs to go.

We are not self existent or self sustaining.

Did you hear what I just said?

We are not self existent or self sustaining.

We are completely dependent on God every moment of every day.

Everyone is.

For those who do not recognize this, they need to face the truth.

Finally.

To that end, we should be more in tune with what the Lord wants us to do.

So there are times when Jesus spoke very uplifting words, right?

There's other times where he rebuked.

And then there's other times where it was neither uplifting nor rebuke, but simply the truth.

What we need to do is function in a perpetual relationship with God or as perpetual as we can get by walking with Jesus daily.

While growing up in a Jewish family, he made a wrong turn towards drug abuse.

He did not say, give us our daily bread tomorrow.

In fact, the opposite.

He said, take no thought for tomorrow, for sufficient today is the evil thereof.

And we get so caught up in what's coming that we're not living in what is.

And we need to spend time with the Lord now.

And when we do that, that helps us encounter and overcome that which is coming.

D Draw closer to the Lord daily.

N Never be ashamed of Jesus words.

Never.

Jesus said, if you're ashamed of me and my words, when I come in the glory from my Father with the holy angels, I'll be ashamed of you.

I cannot think of a worse way to start eternity than having Jesus ashamed of me.

Never be ashamed of what Jesus had to say.

Never be ashamed of his words.

Never be ashamed of his truth.

Never be ashamed of the word of God.

Never and then a, always be ready.

To serve.

To serve.

And I said in the earlier part of the show, the first 30 minutes I had a chance to bless somebody.

Didn't even realize I was that much of a blessing.

That blessing that they received, they poured it back on me tenfold by sharing with me that it blessed them.

Let me explain something to you.

You want to be blessed, be a blessing.

How's that for an answer?

Do you want to be a blessed person?

You want to be blessed?

You'll never beat God giving.

You can't beat God giving no matter how.

How hard you try.

Yeah.

So here's the deal.

Be a blessing to the people of God and watch God pour it back on you tenfold.

That's right.

You think I'm kidding?

Really try and out give God.

He started the whole process by giving his one and only Son.

Best that can be given.

Get it cool.

Draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.

A Always be ready to serve, to be that blessing.

You think you're just going to have some property and you're just going to landscape your property for 50 trillion years?

You're going to be hanging out with God, right?

Okay, let's understand something.

First Timothy 4.

1.

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times, some will turn away from the true faith.

They will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.

Teachings that come from demons.

Nobody in the World who's a Christian wants to follow teachings that comes from demons, do you?

Nobody wants to be deceived by deceptive spirits, right?

So we already know that the teachings that go on in society that say that men can be women and women can be men, we already know without a shadow of a doubt those are just lies, demonic teachings.

Most Christians go, yeah, I get that.

It's a sin to take the life in the womb because they're people, they're children, and that's what God calls them.

We already know that.

We know the people that are fine, that they're just.

Come on, that's okay.

What is that?

That's not even that deceptive in the concept of if you're a Christian, you're like, yeah, that's wrong.

Yeah, we get that.

We understand it's wrong to worship government over God.

Get it?

We get it.

We know that.

It doesn't matter whether it's cradle to the grave man tell it or not.

We understand that the big G is to be worshiped and the little G is not to be worshiped.

In fact, the bigger issue is whether the little G, depending on what country it is, is actually functioning under the influence of the dragon.

But that's a whole separate issue for a different teach at a different time.

Here's where you gotta watch it.

The Christians who absolutely believe the word of God is true.

What we have to watch as Bible believing, born again Christians are teachings that use part truths to establish themselves.

What scripture is concerned about or communicating to us for our sake is for us to be so knowledgeable of the truth that when something deceptive comes that's close, we can absolutely know it's not the truth.

When you study things that are genuine, you understand what they're supposed to be and what they're supposed to look like, what they're supposed to sound like, what they're supposed to feel like.

When people offer something that's counterfeit, you're able to tell because you know the genuine so well.

Something that's been taught, and I believe it's absolutely correct, and I have taught it for a long time, is the understanding on how to find a counterfeit bill is not to study all the counterfeit bills.

There are way too many.

The way that you know if a bill is counterfeit or not is to know every nuance of the genuine article.

And therefore you're able to discern and tell what is not because you know what the genuine one is.

That principle folds right into us.

Knowing what the word of God says and being so involved in the word of God that when somebody comes up with a teaching that's partly spiritual, but that feeds our flesh.

Uh oh.

Uh oh.

What are we talking about, Dave?

Well, we're talking a little bit about self empowerment.

Self empowerment.

Because what does self empowerment count on?

Self.

What is the Christian supposed to count on?

Jesus.

So wait, so you tell me that I, you know, in doing things, I gotta be, you know, careful about, you know, like, you know, focusing on me?

Yes.

And when you're doing things just for you, you're being selfish.

It's not that you do nothing for you, but you can't do everything for you.

Do you understand that difference?

And so one of the big things that goes into this is understanding that when you have things like this or the law of attraction, if you put it out there, it'll come back to you the exact same way.

Which, by the way, is a ripoff of karma, which, by the way, was a ripoff of Galatians, chapter six, verse six, actually verse seven.

And that kind of karma didn't come around till about 900 A.D.

so it was never originally in their philosophy.

But here's the nail on the head.

When we do things for self, then the Lord has a question for us.

You know what the question is?

What will it gain?

What will a man gain if he.

If he has the whole world but loses his soul?

That's a pretty strong teaching.

I mean, I can control the entire world.

Yep.

Like Satan does in many ways.

Right.

But still, under the hand of God.

Can't be done without God.

But the whole purpose is to gain the whole world.

Or is the whole purpose to honor God, our creator?

Well, gotta serve somebody.

Might be the devil and it might be the Lord, but you gotta serve somebody.

Because it's not about self empowerment because self has a lot of problems with it.

Get it?

All right, who was Jacob's granddad?

Granddaddy.

Who's my granddaddy?

Jacob's granddad was Abraham.

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.

Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.

That's the formula.

Well, since we're being honest.

So last week I was diagnosed with cancer.

And that has been the biggest red flag we actually thought.

And I know God heals.

I Believe God heals.

We actually thought I was going to begin surgery tomorrow, and I would have been out for about a month, which means everyone would have to do the conference without me.

And that was going to be a big deal.

We're keeping our faith.

We're keeping our head up.

We're going to keep working hard.

Praise God that my surgery was delayed to after conference.

And so really, this conference will actually be the last time I get to speak for probably a good two or three months because of the surgery, I won't be able to speak.

And even if you hear me now, I'm speaking kind of not as strong as normal, but I'm kind of excited this weekend.

This conference is going to be my chance to say everything I need to say about Jesus and his love for people.

And hopefully God can use my story as an example that no matter what you go through, you still have a calling, you still have a purpose.

You don't.

Don't let.

Don't let trial stop you from doing what God has called you to do.

So I'm looking for.

I'm thankful I get to be here for the conference, but that's definitely, you know, been some challenges to get ready for it, but it's going to be amazing.

All right, so there's a great thing that comes out of this from a scriptural point of view that I know, you know, but sometimes hearing it from a third party is always a helpful element.

And that is.

The Apostle Paul was specific in saying that my speech might not be that great, but don't misunderstand the representation and the power of the kingdom of God and the Holy Spirit that operates through me.

And so, you know, you can just sit there and say, you know, there's a connection there between what he went through, because they were making fun of.

The way he talked right up until he came, and that changed in a hurry.

And so the idea is to understand that.

And then also not a mark of maybe dancing, but a mark of notice would be that you're doing this conference and there's a great deal of warfare that's coming against you.

That's got to tell you, well, the.

Enemy doesn't move in warfare if there's no purpose to move in warfare.

That's right.

I tell people, Christians, when they go, oh, well, his enemy doesn't care about me.

Well, because I never hear him or I never.

It's like, that's a problem.

That's not a plus.

That's a negative.

Yes.

That means you are no threat to any kingdom.

Anywhere.

And that is not good.

Let's pray.

Can I pray for you?

So, Father, we come before you right now.

We pray in the name of Jesus that you would just touch Jason in this surgery process.

We know that you can heal.

We know that you mend.

We know that you help people recover, but you also help people accomplish the tasks assigned to them.

And what we pray for is a peace for him and his family.

And we pray for a strength, an energy almost talked about in Colossians, where you give the people the energy to accomplish.

And we pray for that energy to work through him, through you, so he can finish the task that was set before him and recognize everything he's doing here has kingdom and eternal value and nothing should take away from that.

We pray that in Jesus name.

Now think about where this is.

So here's the next thing we want to get into.

I want to really get this.

I just.

Please let me get through this.

This is so, so, so, so, so, so important.

Okay.

All right, cool.

Philippians 4:13, you guys should know it.

It should be tattooed to you.

It should be a part of you.

I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Let's understand what's being conveyed.

Confidence, ability, overcoming possibility.

Do you hear what I said?

Listen, you can do anything through Jesus, but I want to make sure we get a big understanding that is anything kingdom oriented.

It doesn't mean that you can do things for your flesh.

It doesn't mean you can do things for the kingdom of darkness.

It doesn't mean you can do things just for your own consumption.

It means that anything that has to do with Jesus, anything that has to do with the kingdom of God, anything that's taking place, anything that can bring glory to the Lord, you can do that through Jesus.

When people get upset that athletes use that, I don't think it should be so upsetting.

If the athlete genuinely has a dependence on the Lord, people say, I can do it.

I can do all things through Christ.

That's what got me through this.

You know, I don't have a problem with that if that person's being sincere.

Okay, I'm not telling you that everybody is or isn't sincere.

I'm saying if they have a genuine dependence.

No, that's not the main thrust of the scripture.

I can run a race.

That's what it says in Philippians 4:13.

But if a person is genuinely dependent on the Lord, I sometimes am dependent on the Lord to drive without crashing.

I think that that applies to 4:13.

I can do it through Christ.

And so I don't see anything wrong with that.

I see everything right with that.

Actually, I see everything marvelous with that.

So the idea behind it is to understand that in a realm of confidence, in the realm of ability, in the realm of overcoming, in the realm of possibility, anything can be done through Jesus that has the kingdom flair.

At the same time, there's another passage.

John chapter 15, verse 4 and 5 remain in me, and I also remain in you.

No branch can bear fruit by itself.

It must remain in the vine.

Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

I am the vine, you are the branches.

If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit apart from me.

You can do nothing.

Now you're sitting there and think, well, he just said, I can do all things through him, and now without him, I can do nothing.

Same principle, same exact thing.

This has to do with kingdom element.

In fact, Jesus context has to do with bearing fruit.

You can't do Christianity without Christ.

Oh, there's a lot of people that try.

And if you don't think so, I'll help you out.

This will just define it.

These are the same people that say, well, the real meaning of Christmas is all about the spirit of family, or it's all about the spirit of this, or it's all about the spirit of that.

And it's like it's all about Jesus.

And if it's not, then you're not doing Christmas to honor God, period.

Jesus is the reason for this season.

If you don't get that, you don't get it, period.

And so Jesus is like, you can't do anything without me.

You can't do any kingdom stuff, anything moving forward.

You can't do any overcoming, any victory, any freedom from sin.

You can't get the prayers answered, you can't get the things right.

You can't get your brain right without Jesus.

That's what he's saying.

So on one hand you hear him saying, you can do anything through me.

On the other hand, he's saying, you can't do anything without me, right?

All geared in one direction.

And then you gotta sit there and you have to just think, why?

Why is this?

Why?

And the answer is the most important part.

Why can't you do anything without Him?

And why can you do everything through Him?

Ah, now we're getting into it.

Because everything that the Lord operates in your life is coordinated, connected to his plan.

And what people tend to forget is God is for the non believer, trying to get them to be believers, so to speak, and for the believers to have them grow as believers.

And the idea behind this is to understand this passage.

It'll blow your mind which one I'm going to use.

You're probably thinking we used a different one.

I'm going to surprise you.

James 4, 13, 17.

Now listen, you who say, today or tomorrow we will go to this or to that city, will spend a year there, and will carry on business and make money.

Wow, that just sounds like planning, right?

But verse 14 says, why?

You don't even know what will happen tomorrow.

What is your life?

You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.

Instead you ought to say, if it's the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that.

Verse 16.

As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes.

All such boasting is evil.

If anyone then knows the good, they ought to do and doesn't do it.

It is a sin for them.

Everything.

We do everything.

Oh, boy.

People don't like that.

No, Dave.

No.

I go to church.

No.

I give offerings.

I pay tithes.

I sponsor children in foreign countries.

I do all of these things.

And I give God full Sundays.

I give them Wednesday nights.

I even do a Bible study.

I do this, I do this.

I do this.

Everything comes down to your plan or God's plan.

Everything comes down to that.

I understand.

It's not evil to make plans.

It's evil to make plans and not submit them to God and say, if it is thine will.

That is what Jesus taught us in the garden when he had this moment where he said, well, you know, if this thing could pass, I kind of like that.

Right.

Didn't say it that way, but you get what's going on.

And he said, nevertheless, not my will, but thy will be done.

Jesus wanted to have a redirect in the plan.

If it was able to happen, it wasn't able to happen.

And if Jesus has a redirect opportunity and the Father says no, how about you and me bet?

Doesn't mean Jesus didn't ask.

You're welcome to ask.

You're welcome to plan.

You're welcome to do all this as long as you submit it to God.

And here's the big key.

You're not God.

Jesus is God.

So you bring it before the Lord and you lay it at his feet, and you say, if it is thy will.

And if not, let your will be done.

Right?

Wow.

50 years ago people would disagree with Christianity.

But with a sense of respect, those days are over.

The rage, the flesh the enemy and the atmosphere of sin is growing and growing.

Jesus said in Matthew 24 the love of many will grow cold.

And if it's not the end now, it's certainly a lot closer than it was yesterday.

You may be from a Baptist background.

David Spoon has that.

You may have a Pentecostal background.

He has that too.

You may have a non denominational background.

Yep, he's got that as well.

You may be from the Church of Christ, Presbyterian Methodist Church of God or some other denomination.

But if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, give David a listen for a while.

When you're praying with people, fellowship amongst other people can lead you to guidance.

It's happened on more than one occasion.

For me, counsel is obviously very good, both spiritual and not necessarily biblical.

Also, practical counsel is good.

Circumstances often speak to us and give us guidance.

Open doors or for that fact, closed doors.

We know His Word gives us guidance.

We know in 2nd Corinthians 2, 13 and 14 Paul said that he used peace of mind as an aspect of guidance.

These are all the Holy Spirit leading and guiding us is of course the number one element for guidance is to be led by the Spirit.

Savior is saving you from sin.

Lord is the one who directs your life.

And you will receive the gift that comes from Jesus Christ being your Lord and Savior, which is an awesome eternity.

That's a pretty good deal right there for people.

Let's go back to the text.

I want to make sure you do not miss this.

Nothing without him, everything with him, everything has to be submitted to the plan of God.

Yielded to the plan of God.

Why is this important?

I will tell you why it's important.

The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth.

And he does not live in temples built by human hands.

And he is not served by human hands as if he needed anything.

Rather, He Himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.

The phrase He Himself gives G I V E S in the Greek is perfect present tense for continual breathing.

In other words, God gives every breath to every person.

And because every breath comes to every person by the gift and the grace of God, this is a key component on why it ain't all about you.

It's a key component to understand.

He does this for a very specific reason.

And I'm going to get to that because it's an amazing, amazing, amazing verse.

But I want you to understand something.

You and I, I just want to make sure we understand this dealing with Name it and claim it Self empowerment, Law of attraction.

You and I are entitled to nothing.

Everybody goes, well, I'm entitled to this, that, that.

No, you're not.

You're not entitled to your next breath.

No person on earth is entitled to their breath.

It is a gift from God.

You're not entitled to the gift.

He grants it because he's gracious.

Why if Tell it to God, tell God I have rights.

Well, I live in this country.

You're on God's planet.

Which, by the way, is his footstool.

Your little G doesn't run anything.

All these other little GS, they don't run anything.

We've said it before and I will say it again.

If everybody had their blinders off or just one minute and we saw all the angels and demons all around us, there'd be more heart attacks in this planet than there have ever been combined.

People would just be like plopping right over.

So what we need to understand is if every breath comes from God, why is that so important?

What's this so important to God?

What's this all about?

I'm going to tell you right now what the most important thing is.

It comes out of 1 Corinthians 3, 9, which most people won't even see as the answer, but it is the answer.

And it says this for we are God's co workers in his service.

What?

Wait, here's the reason you get to breathe because God wants to partner with you.

Here's the reason you get to keep going.

Because God likes to partner with people.

You know, he partnered with mankind and writing the Bible between mankind, 40, almost 40 authors, and the Holy Spirit.

The Bible was written.

He partnered with mankind when Jesus became one of us.

He partnered with mankind when he gave us life in the first place.

When the plan of redemption came about, he gave us this understanding of partnership when the book of Revelation was written so we could see that God is looking forward to spending eternity with us in a new heavens and a new earth.

This is about partnership with God and everything else that people come up with is just baloney.

Because when it's all said and done, those that want to partner with God and do partner with God are going to spend eternity with God.

And those that reject are going to spend eternity apart from God.

And for everybody that goes, well, hell's not real.

Jesus defined hell in about 14 different places as the fire that's never quenched.

So yeah, there's that.

Everything that God has geared for us is for us to partner everything.

And there is nothing else.

And in fact, we're going to give the answer to the trivia question come back.

But when we do, you will hear the ultimate answer for all of it.

I'm not even kidding.

Okay, but going back to the trivia question, who did Paul write?

Timothy was his young protege.

This is the gift of God.

Happiness is a gift.

Satisfaction is a gift.

The graces for appreciating life at its fullness is a gift from God.

And apart from God, it cannot be attained.

So then you might say, okay, David, and what's the conclusion?

What do you do then to get that whole process going?

Only God can grant lasting happiness, period.

What do we got to do?

Ecclesiastes chapter 12, verse 13.

Now all has been heard, and here is the conclusion of the matter.

Don't you love that?

I mean, the answer is right here in the same book.

And here's the answer.

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the duty of all mankind.

If you want God to grant you the gift of happiness, you fear him and obey his commandments.

People are like, oh, no, there's got to be something else.

Isn't there medication involved?

Isn't there grandchildren involved?

Isn't there this involved?

Isn't there relationships involved?

Isn't there money involved and power and cars and houses and big TVs?

No.

Wasn't there food and wine?

And what about all the medications?

No.

Well, what about becoming smart and brilliant, knowing and having degrees?

No.

You tell me.

Partying doesn't do anything.

Correct.

You mean building a monument to myself does nothing?

Correct.

Happiness comes as a gift from God only.

And so the conclusion of the matter is simple.

Fear God and keep his commandments.

This is the duty of mankind.

This is the requirement.

Now, to fear God is to be in reverence of God.

Honor, respect, awe and appreciation every day.

Are you in honor, respect, awe and appreciation of God, yes or no?

And do we obey what he tells us to do?

You want to be a successful Christian?

Do what God says.

I'll be a successful Christian.

That means X amount of money in the bank.

It doesn't.

Jesus didn't.

Jesus didn't die and resurrect a billionaire.

I mean, that's just dumb.

Moses wanted more.

You see that?

Therein lies the key.

You see, this is the key to every answer in every situation, every solution in every part of universe, anywhere, ever in the multiverse and the universe and all of it.

The answer is more of God.

The answer is not.

Well, we'll do this.

The answer is more of God.

Remember, he spoke and the universe created.

You think he could speak in an answer to prayer and change the world?

So what is the answer?

Moses wanted more.

It wasn't enough.

He never sat on it and said, I'm done.

There should be a hunger deep inside each and every one of us that says, more.

Show me your glory.

I want more of you.

I want to understand your Word.

I want to hear you when I'm praying.

I want to hear you when I'm reading.

I want to see and experience your every fellowship.

When we're in fellowship with other believers, I want more.

That's the answer.

You mean that can be an answer for health?

Yes.

Money?

Yes.

Relationship?

Yes.

Happiness?

Yes.

Keep going.

Just add anything you want.

Because more of God is the answer to everything.

And it doesn't matter if people think so or not.

It's irrelevant.

Who cares what they think?

God has made it clear.

And everything is about a partnership and a relationship with Him.

Remember Jesus said, depart from me, those workers of iniquity.

I never kn.

It's not that he didn't know of them, that they didn't know him.

And that's what he's talking about.

And we need to know him and be in a relationship with him is spending time in prayer, which is us talking to him, spending time in His Word, which is him talking to us and always aware.

I want more of you.

And if you don't have that, ask for it.

I bet you a trillion dollars God says yes.
