Episode 51 - Nichole Stanford - A Researcher Says We are Doing it Right!
Nichole Stanford
Nichole Stanford, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of English at UL Lafayette specializing in pedagogy, language prejudice, and power theory. She is the director of the UL Writing Lab and has been training teachers since 2007. Her book, Good God but You Smart: Language Prejudice and Upwardly Mobile Cajuns, explains the role English classes play in politically controlling national outcomes. Her upcoming book, Teaching Kids Healthy Dissent, focuses on creating new practices in homes and schools to teach critical thinking, problem solving, and healthy dissent. This is crucial now more than ever as our nation's institutions are crumbing, and this generation of children will be responsible for rebuilding them when they are adults.
