Speaker:

Hello and welcome to business school podcast.

Speaker:

I'm Kelly, and I'm here to help you discover all the ways that you can create your own dream cruise business.

Speaker:

Your business does not have to look the same as anyone else's, and you can do it the way you want.

Speaker:

So what do we have on the podcast today?

Speaker:

How to make money from Christchurch without selling what you make selling?

Speaker:

What you make is how most people get started with their business.

Speaker:

It's kind of a natural thing to do if you want to make some extra cash.

Speaker:

Okay, well, there's still a few things, but what if you need to make some money, but you can't croquet.

Speaker:

So this could be if you need to take some time off.

Speaker:

The kids are sick and they need you.

Speaker:

You just need a break, you break your arm.

Speaker:

But for whatever reason, you are unable to show If you're just selling what you make, then if you can't okay, then you don't make any money.

Speaker:

So how can you get a more stable income where you can still have the money coming in?

Speaker:

But you don't have to pay to get it.

Speaker:

Well, the first one is making patterns.

Speaker:

So yes, you do need to croquet to make the design.

Speaker:

But if you've been selling what you make and using your own patterns for what you sell, that you can just write that pattern down.

Speaker:

Patterns are not a scary to start writing as you think, and they are immensely popular.

Speaker:

Patterns sell all year round and the market for selling patterns.

Speaker:

It's absolutely massive.

Speaker:

There are millions of dollars worth of pattern sold every single month.

Speaker:

That is a huge market to tap into.

Speaker:

So it's something that is really worth looking into, and you can sell both the pattern and the finished item.

Speaker:

You can sell both.

Speaker:

He doesn't have to be one or the other because someone who crashes well, not by what you make, but they will buy the pattern and someone who can't grow.

Speaker:

She won't by the pattern, but they will buy what you make.

Speaker:

So you've got two completely different audiences, and you can sell both and maximize your profit from one item.

Speaker:

Another way is blocking.

Speaker:

Blogging is still absolutely huge, and there's actually a few ways you can make money through blogging The first is ads, so you can sell out space on the website and you will get paid for the views.

Speaker:

So the more people that are reading your block, the more money you get.

Speaker:

Some ads the other ways affiliate links and affiliate links are aware you recommend a product.

Speaker:

You add a link to the website that products being sold, and then you will get a commission off that sale.

Speaker:

And that's your reward for recommending the product so you'll get a small percentage of the cost of that sale.

Speaker:

And if he set up this right, that can be very lucrative as well.

Speaker:

Now blocking and getting the ad revenue and the affiliate revenue that takes time for ads, it takes time to build the number of people reading your vlogs for affiliate links.

Speaker:

It takes time for people to trust that you know what you're talking about.

Speaker:

The product you're recommending are good, so these are both more long term plans.

Speaker:

Other ways of making money from Christchurch is to teach.

Speaker:

It doesn't have to be in person.

Speaker:

You could teach online, but many people love classes to go to so you can teach small local groups in your community.

Speaker:

Or you could record what you're doing and sell a digital course online.

Speaker:

You don't need anything fancy, really.

Speaker:

To record a video tutorial, you just need a phone stand on a phone.

Speaker:

Phones cameras now are really good and tend to be good enough to be able to record a decent tutorial.

Speaker:

Other ways to make money from our from subscription boxes.

Speaker:

So if you have a person you could then sell the person with the are needed for that as a subscription box, so you can have a new person with the on every month.

Speaker:

And so that's the subscribers.

Speaker:

A membership is another way.

Speaker:

You can do all sorts of memberships.

Speaker:

It could be crucial related items so they could get some fancy hook stitch markers, and you want to try every month You could do a membership worries new patterns every month.

Speaker:

The sky's the limit.

Speaker:

You can do all sorts of memberships, and it's entirely up to you and your imagination about how they how they work and get put together.

Speaker:

There are quite a few different ways you can make money, and it all comes down to as to what you enjoy doing what you are prepared to learn what you're prepared to invest your time into because it doesn't matter what it is.

Speaker:

But anything new that you are going to put your time in, you have to put one enjoy it, too prepared to learn how to do it properly.

Speaker:

And three be prepared to put the time in.

Speaker:

It takes time.

Speaker:

Anything you will take a bit of time.

Speaker:

But I will say is that Give it a go.

Speaker:

You're not going to know if you like it or not.

Speaker:

If you don't give it a go, and if it doesn't work well, okay, then nothing wrong with that.

Speaker:

You can I just grab your shoulders and move on.

Speaker:

We're not going to learn if we don't try and we can learn from mistakes, we don't have to publish our mistakes.

Speaker:

Nobody needs to know that they were made.

Speaker:

It's just you, you know about them.

Speaker:

But finding out what we don't enjoy doing is just as important as finding out what we do.

Speaker:

And if we do enjoy something, then we can add it to our business at the new line of revenue and create a business that can weather any downturn in the market.

Speaker:

Having several streams of income protects ourselves from any slow down in the market.

Speaker:

So say during the summer.

Speaker:

Summer is traditionally not the best time for selling.

Speaker:

What you make, because often seen as winter items but still selling summer block still get ready in summer.

Speaker:

So there are ways of making your income more even across the year.

Speaker:

And, of course, different streams mean that you can take that break from croquet, put your roots down for a while and take a break knowing that the money still coming in.
