The Doctor Is In – Humor Unplugged

Wisdom – the final frontier to true knowledge. Welcome to Wisdom-Trek where our mission is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before.

Hello, my friend, I am Guthrie Chamberlain, your captain on our journey to increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Thank you for joining us today as we explore wisdom on our 2nd millennium of podcasts. This is Day 1197 of our trek, and it is time for our 3-minute mini-trek called Humor Unplugged. Our Thursday podcast will provide a short and clean funny story to help you lighten up and live a rich and satisfying life – something to cheer you and provide a bit a levity in your life.

We are told in  Proverbs 15:30, “A cheerful look brings joy to the heart; good news makes for good health.”  We are also encouraged in Proverbs 17:22“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.” Consider this your vitamin supplement of cheer for today. So let’s jump right in with today’s funny, which is titled…

The Doctor Is In

Sam had scheduled his elective surgery to have a rod taken out of his leg which had been there for two years due to a broken femur bone. The doctor had assured him that he was completely healed and that removing the rod would help with Sam’s overall health.

Although Sam had agreed, he was still a bit apprehensive about it since he did not like hospitals and he would have to be completely under anesthesia during the operation. As he was lying in his bed waiting, he heard Doctor Smith and Nurse Alice in the next room discussing his surgery. All of a sudden Sam leaped from his bed and went running down the hall with his hospital gown blowing in the breeze.

Nurse Nancy at the nurse’s station, saw Sam coming down the hall and stepped out from her desk to stop him. “What’s the matter?” Nurse Nancy asked Sam.

Sam blurted out being quite animated, “I heard Nurse Alice say,It’s a very simple operation, don’t worry, I’m sure it will be all right.‘”

Nurse Nancy replied, “She was just trying to comfort you. What’s so frightening about that?

She wasn’t talking to me,” Sam replied. “She was talking to Doctor Smith!”

I hope that brought a smile to your face today. If it did, please pass that smile onto someone else who may need it. Our Thursday thought is “The best doctors in the world are Doctor Diet, Doctor Quiet, and Doctor Merryman.”

Mark [2:17]

When Jesus heard this, he told them, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”

As you enjoy these nuggets of humor, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
