The Gossip Girl Theme Performed By Steve Marchion.
Vanessa Juliet and Jenny's ship name should be vi jj.
Steve:That's good.
Steve:That is actually really, really clever.
Leif:Hey, Upper Eastsiders and all.
Leif:You skin A loving listeners out there.
Leif:You just tuned into the Non-Judging Breakfast pod where the coffee is
Leif:strong, the waffles are fresh and the gossip is hotter than ever.
Leif:My name is Leif and I'm your seasoned gossip girl veteran.
Steve:And I'm Steve, the newbie, the rookie, the greenhorn,
Steve:the, I don't know, Leif.
Steve:What am I now that we're in season four?
Leif:KGUB.
Leif:Can't get me to talk, Steve.
Leif:You have no chance,
Steve:man.
Steve:Well, I guess my hopes for sexual uh, exposure therapy is going
Steve:to just be out the window then.
Steve:So here's the deal folks.
Steve:Leif has been watching Gossip Girl since it first aired, and
Steve:I'm diving in for the first time.
Steve:And together we're your dynamic duo, bringing you all the drama, romance,
Steve:and sometimes questionable fashion choices of this iconic 2007 series.
Leif:Bring your magnifying glasses because each week we're dissecting
Leif:every juicy detail of the show.
Leif:One episode at a time.
Leif:We'll connect the dots, uncover those sneaky little Easter eggs,
Leif:and of course, serve up some piping hot behind the scenes tee.
Leif:And expect some iconic moments from Phantom too, because what's a
Leif:deep dive without a little drama?
Steve:And since we are all about inclusivity here at the Non-Judging
Steve:Breakfast Pod, there is always a seat for you at the non-judging breakfast table.
Steve:So go ahead and grab your mimosa, a cup of coffee or spark up some of Chuck's
Steve:medicine and let's get into this.
Leif:Yes.
Leif:Let's get into, it.
Leif:Seems like we have been getting a pickup and, uh, new listeners, I assume that's
Leif:from the Norman Buckley interview.
Steve:Welcome.
Steve:We are, yes.
Leif:And, and I also shout out to Mal looking back and commenting
Leif:on a bunch of old episodes.
Steve:Fantastic.
Steve:We really appreciate the engagement and thank you for, uh, for
Steve:getting into the show with us.
Steve:We really love it.
Steve:Thank you very much.
Leif:And we are here to talk about season four, episode eight.
Leif:Juliet doesn't live here anymore, and the original air date was November 8th, 2010.
Steve:Now the title here, it doesn't sound, I, I'm not
Steve:familiar with a movie of this ti
Leif:Is it a mo is it a movie?
Leif:Yes, it is the 1974 Martin Scorsese film.
Leif:Alice doesn't live here anymore.
Leif:Okay.
Steve:Once you said it, I, I recognize the name.
Steve:I was wondering if it was a play on The Shining at first.
Steve:The Toby doesn't live here anymore, or Toby.
Steve:Is Toby the little boy that lives in his mouth or is Toby the kid not here anymore?
Steve:Mrs.
Leif:Torrens, this episode was written by G Annenberg or Jean Lighten.
Leif:Uh, she ly wrote three 18 of the Unplayable Lightness of Being and
Leif:also the Chasing ROA web series.
Leif:Yes.
Steve:I don't feel like I loved Unplayable Lightness,
Steve:but I'm trying to remember.
Steve:That was uh, DER's wedding episode.
Steve:Oh, oh yeah, we did like that.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yeah, that was a good one.
Leif:And this was directed by Patrick R.
Leif:Norris?
Leif:Um, yeah, he was the Norman Buckley before Norman Buckley.
Leif:Oh, okay.
Leif:So he's been doing this back for like Dawson Scre, my so-called Life years.
Leif:Oh, wow.
Leif:Okay.
Leif:So far this show he has done 1 0 4, bad news, Blair one 10, high
Leif:Society 2 0 5, the Serena also Rises.
Leif:It's a wonderful lie.
Leif:And then also 2 22 Southern gentlemen prefer blondes.
Leif:And this is another guy like last week who didn't see anything in season three.
Steve:Right.
Steve:Well, we did have that sort of shakeup in, was it season three when
Steve:they kind had a bit of a shakeup that it seemed in the writer's room.
Leif:Well, there's a couple people at the end of season three
Leif:that had their last episodes.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:They didn't come back.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:I It looks like they went back to some earlier people.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And there, this is also one of those, some of these episodes are great.
Steve:Some of them, it was High Society, the, the Debutante Ball.
Steve:The first one.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:With Serena and the first CC episode.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:So like, good episode there.
Steve:Bad News.
Steve:Blair was a good episode.
Steve:Bad News Blair was a good episode.
Steve:But then you have Southern Gentlemen prefer blondes, which I was never,
Steve:I was never a fan of the Gabriel.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Storyline.
Steve:Why don't you read that Vulture
Leif:Recap?
Steve:Only once or twice a season do we get to see our team
Steve:united in the face of an enemy.
Steve:Usually the cornered foe is hardly a force to be reckoned with a slutty teacher,
Steve:a skanky, duchess, or a closeted bully.
Steve:But in the case of Juliet, our gang is dealing with someone
Steve:they've never fought before.
Steve:A character who has lasted more than four episodes.
Steve:Even if her inept efforts to take down Serena have failed over and over.
Steve:Her very staying power is remarkable.
Steve:She just keeps showing up for class.
Steve:In the end, we see her clattering away from Lincoln Center, banished from
Steve:the site and exiled from Columbia.
Steve:But will that be enough?
Steve:Has the team finally encountered something?
Steve:They truly don't know how to fight poverty?
Steve:No.
Steve:Chuck fights poverty.
Steve:He gives away $5 million to be a good person.
Steve:You think he still did that after Eva left?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I was wondering that like he creates the whole foundation then it's like, oh, well
Leif:eh, I'm just gonna be an asshole still.
Leif:Yeah, I
Steve:guess not.
Steve:Or did, or did he like do that now?
Steve:She's running a foundation that she wants no part of.
Steve:She's stuck.
Steve:Like with this $5 million charity,
Leif:uh,
Leif:we go into Act One
Leif:Morning Upper Eastsiders.
Leif:Hope you had a good night's sleep, or at least a good night's play.
Leif:Blair is lying in bed letting out cues of pleasure when Serena barges into her room.
Leif:Serena desperately needs her friend's advice, but Blair continues to refuse
Leif:to talk about Serena's inappropriate student teacher relationship.
Leif:When Serena leaves, it's revealed that Chuck was hiding under Blair's duvet.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:And you see her smack at him at one point too, so you, you kind of know he's there.
Steve:Uh, it it's cute though.
Steve:Uh, you know, I was over the Serena thing last week with this professor and for
Steve:her to still just be whining about this for, uh, I guess it's kind of that three
Steve:episode arc that we always come back to, that we have to have three episodes of
Steve:her not being able to be with this guy and man, oh my God, the end of this.
Steve:Okay.
Leif:God, I can't stand her.
Leif:Vanessa and Dan are at the loft.
Leif:Dan invites her to family brunch, but v is still avoiding Serena after the debacle
Leif:at Hamilton House, Dan Bemoans that Nate still isn't talking to him either.
Steve:You kinda screwed Nate over.
Steve:I I, and I felt like Dan was sort of accepting of it too, that
Steve:I feel like Dan sort of had an attitude of, yeah, I fucked up.
Steve:Or at least like he has a reason to be.
Steve:Vanessa is throughout this episode, hanging on this thing of, I did
Steve:nothing wrong, but you stole the fucking phone in the first place,
Steve:Vanessa, you did something wrong and you set all of this in motion.
Steve:So,
Leif:and even if you were wronged, it wasn't by Serena.
Leif:Yeah, it was by Juliet.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Juliet is the one that screwed you over.
Steve:And, and, and like, and, and after that, everything else in this
Steve:episode, Vanessa, is jealousy.
Steve:Yeah, it is jealousy of Serena and you are terrible.
Leif:Juliet nearly gets busted by Colin extracting the SD card from
Leif:the hitting camera in his apartment.
Leif:She plays it off and they continue the conversation about Ben from last week.
Leif:Colin reaffirms that if Julia doesn't stop seeing Ben, she
Leif:will be completely cut off.
Steve:It seems at this point, like Juliet might be listening to him.
:Mm-hmm.
Steve:And it's funny because this is also another one of those guest stars.
Steve:Colin reminds me of Ava in.
Steve:I'm waiting for them to be super shitty and I'm waiting for them to be a part
Steve:of this whole thing and I'm waiting for them to be part of taking down Serena.
Steve:And more and more it's just not coincidence.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:At at the end of the day.
Leif:I'm not really that mad at Colin.
Leif:No, no.
Leif:He's a little sleazy, but he's open about it.
Leif:And Serena is an adult.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:It's not like they, he's not trying to marry her and control her.
Leif:He just wants to be, just wants to bang.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And, and, and, and even beyond that, he wants a relationship with her.
Steve:Like he wants to bang Yeah.
Leif:He's
Steve:willing
Leif:to,
Steve:you know, go against
Leif:his normal, you know, to, to get there.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Like, he's like, okay, we put it on pause.
Steve:Oh, you want to go away for the weekend?
Steve:You don't want go away for the weekend.
Steve:Cool.
Steve:Whatever.
:Yeah.
Steve:Like, we'll, we'll take this at your pace, which I'm completely
Steve:skived out by all of the flirting.
Steve:I'm completely skived out by a professor.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Guest lecturer, but a professor, having that relationship with a student.
Steve:I also, like you said, he's not hiding anything.
Leif:And, and I, you really gotta take a look at Columbia for this whole thing.
Leif:Why would you hire a guy?
Leif:Who's being, you know, nominated for the Bachelor of the Year,
Leif:known for dating young models.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Leif:To come just teach a class.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:You're just asking for trouble.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:But he's so handsome.
Leif:He is handsome.
Leif:Dan and Rufuss are at the Vander Wi Penthouse, having a lonely family
Leif:breakfast, just the two of them.
Leif:Dan is fishing for info on Serena's new bow, but Rufuss as his tradition
Leif:is totally clueless and so suggest Dan just asked her directly,
Steve:I felt like Rufuss was so down in this scene.
Steve:Like he just seemed so like, and, and you know, Dan being like,
Steve:oh, I thought people, more people would be here for breakfast.
Steve:He's like, well, Lily's at Wesleyan with Eric, and
Leif:I wonder if Matt was depressed.
Leif:The fact that he was the only person over 40 on set that week.
Steve:Well, and, and here's another thing about Matt Settle that I
Steve:discovered last week though during.
Steve:Season two, he was expecting his first daughter or first child.
Steve:I don't know if he knew if it was a daughter or not, but he
Steve:was expecting his first child.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:During season three, he had a, an infant at home that he
Steve:was going home to every night.
Steve:So I can now imagine how hard it is to be mad at this teenage girl and
Steve:being like, is this what parenthood is like, is this how I'm gonna have to be?
Steve:Like, this isn't what I wanna do as a parent.
Steve:I'm not calling the cops on my kid.
Steve:Now here's the other thing.
Steve:By the end of this season, he's divorced.
Steve:So throughout season four, I'm wondering if he is just miserable because you
Steve:actually, you had those like really good moments of anger from Rufuss this
Steve:season, which is usually what he can't do.
Steve:He usually struggles, and now I just wonder if his home life is so fucking
Steve:miserable that he's just become a better actor for what he needs to be.
Leif:Nate and Chuck pass each other outside the empire.
Leif:Nate is going to return Juliet's stuff and Chuck is returning
Leif:from his nightly activities.
Leif:However, Chuck spots Blair down the street and goes to as Nate leaves.
Leif:Blair initially tries to deny her natural urges, but Chuck's charm wins her over
Leif:and let two rush off to a partially hidden seller door for a quickie.
Steve:How do you just, oh, we're just gonna go down to that cellar, right?
Steve:And he's just like, oh, I just point, like right over there, like, how do
Steve:you know that Nothing is there, guys.
Steve:Uh, but it is very, it is fun for if I have to put up with these two.
Steve:That was funny.
Leif:Colin and Serena are accidentally sharing a cab together.
Leif:Serena wants Colin to be her date to the ball tonight, but Colin doesn't
Leif:think that's a good idea because several Columbia faculty will be in attendance,
Leif:however Colin thinks they should instead take a vacation together this weekend.
Leif:Yeah,
Steve:good way to stay away from each other is we'll just go on a vacation.
Steve:Oh, they'll be in separate rooms though, but they'll be, yeah, in separate
Steve:rooms and they're flying in separately.
Steve:But even then, but like again, to our earlier point though, Colin
Steve:is still being extraordinarily respectful of her boundaries.
Steve:Colin doesn't have the same boundaries.
Steve:Colin's like, we could bang right now if you want to.
Steve:I don't care.
Steve:This job doesn't mean shit to me, but it means something to you, so
Steve:I will respect your boundaries.
Leif:Serena thinks that she is super slick exiting the
Leif:cab without anyone seeing her.
Leif:However, Dan does see her exiting and also sees who is in the cab with her.
Leif:Dan's face instantly goes judgmental.
Leif:Serena isn't the only one caught as she actually catches Blair and Chuck
Leif:exiting from their little rendezvous.
Leif:At this point, gossip Girl begins narrating as we jump
Leif:through a couple of short scenes.
Steve:I love the judgment from Dan.
Steve:Every now and then I
Leif:guy checks the book
Steve:to, yeah,
Leif:like, wait a minute.
Steve:God damnit.
Steve:I don't blame Dan.
Steve:Usually judgy Dan.
Steve:It's like, come on, get off your shit.
Steve:He's not wrong here.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Julia downloads the video of Colin and Serena Ming and then calls to
Leif:make an appointment with the dean.
Steve:We catch her once again and, and then I guess Nate.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Then Nate walks up to the building where he spent the night
Leif:with Juliet, but the doorman tells him he has never heard of Juliet Sharp.
Steve:I wanna say season four, episode eight.
Steve:Doorman does his job.
Steve:An assistant did their job.
Steve:Good job guys.
Steve:Good job.
Steve:Well, he still went out Juliet's Secret.
Steve:Well, he did, but, but he wasn't the one that was being paid to keep it.
Steve:So
Leif:over those previous three scenes where he added GOs,
Leif:brawl, monologue, and it goes.
Leif:In a city that never sleeps.
Leif:It's important to always be alert because if you blink, you might miss
Leif:something or someone, but be careful since the truth could be eye-opening.
Leif:Good morning up, siders.
Leif:This is your wake up call.
Leif:Now we move into Act two.
Leif:Serena confronts Blair and Chuck Blair admits that she has lost count
Leif:of how many times they have banged.
Leif:Serena criticizes Blair for falling off the wagon.
Leif:Blair quickly deflects and once again attacks the Colin relationship.
Leif:Serena doesn't let her off that easy though.
Leif:And eventually Blair yields and claims she'll call Chuck to end things
Steve:besties, being besties, taking digs at each other, but
Steve:looking out for each other.
Steve:So cute.
Steve:Nate
Leif:goes to see Vanessa at the loft and apologizes for
Leif:not believing her about Juliet.
Leif:Nate then recruits her to help take Juliet down.
Steve:I like that Nate kind of came to apologize to Vanessa and
Steve:points out that he gets it now.
Steve:I also think he's kind of using her.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:And knew that she would be easy to rope into this.
Steve:And then he
Leif:flipped on her pretty quick too.
Steve:And, and he did.
Steve:Uh, he's also not the four D chess player that he sometimes thinks he is too.
Leif:And for those who are too lazy to look it up, Hannah Arnt,
Leif:who Vanessa mentions mm-hmm.
Leif:Is a German and American historian and philosopher, and a very influential
Leif:20th century political theorist.
Leif:She lived from 1906 to 1975.
Leif:Cool.
Leif:I
Steve:did not look it up.
Leif:The more you know,
Steve:I was the lazy one that did not look that up.
Leif:Dan finds Serena and confronts her about Colin.
Leif:Dan also points out the obvious that if she really was that important to this
Leif:billionaire, he would quit his silly guest lecturer job to be with her.
Leif:And now Dan was the last
Steve:person nice to me, so I love him.
Steve:Dan said something nice to me.
Steve:Aw,
Leif:sploosh not only that, be being protective of her.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Oh, Dan's defending me and looking out for me and saying how, oh,
Steve:he's my, he could be my daddy.
Steve:It's just, it's so, just the, the golden retriever once again, just
Steve:sees the new shiny and it, and I'm, again, I'm not mad at Dan in this.
Steve:Usually when Dan is being a judgmental prick, I'm like, especially when
Steve:he's a butt hurt, jealous, judgmental prick, which he does a lot.
Steve:It's really annoying and it's really off putting.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And it's really like, you're a better person than that.
Steve:I'm not mad at him here.
Steve:I don't, he's not really, sometimes people need to be judged.
Steve:Yeah, some, yeah, exactly.
Steve:Sometimes people need to be judged and he is writing everything he says,
Steve:like, it's already inappropriate.
Steve:And if this guy really wanted to be with you, he'd quit.
Leif:Blair and Chuck are once again post Quietal, and this time back where
Leif:it all started, Chuck's limo, they both agree that they have to end this.
Leif:However, they may have different ideas on how to accomplish that.
Leif:After Blair exits the limo, Chuck lowers the privacy barrier and
Leif:tells Arthur that they need to go pick up a bunch of condoms.
Leif:Chuck's approach looks like it's going to be immersion
Steve:therapy.
Steve:Immersion therapy.
Steve:That's the word.
Steve:I, I, I had it before we started the thing.
Steve:This, the, the intro and then it slipped my mind as we were there.
Steve:Ah, I said exposure anyway.
Steve:Why does your driver need to know
Leif:and why does he have such a creepy swamp mile when you mention you're gonna
Leif:have so much sex with your girlfriend?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Like why he do you show him?
Steve:We do know that Blair doesn't mind being watched.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:That might not have been the only time that privacy barrier was down.
Leif:Oh, he was so creepy about it too.
Leif:Blair is back at her apartment telling ROA to help distract her
Leif:from Chuck Blair's method of choice seems to be aversion therapy.
Steve:I thought this was hilarious.
Steve:I thought it was great that the two of them, yep.
Steve:I've gotta get over it.
Steve:And Chuck's like, only way to get over it is to bang for the entire day.
Steve:And she's like, I need to get a detox.
Steve:Get this outta my system.
Steve:It, it sets up really fun conflict.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:So I, I, I liked their storyline because of that.
Leif:Colin and Serena meet in the halls and discuss their vacation plans.
Leif:Dan clearly got in Serena's head because she is now doubting the relationship.
Steve:It's so easy to do just that little, that little nugget that you throw.
Steve:I don't know if Dan knows how easy it is.
Steve:To throw Serena off.
Steve:I don't know if he's picked up on it.
Steve:'cause he is usually so irritated when he does it, but this isn't the first time
Steve:he is gotten in her head about something like this and it's so easy to do.
Steve:And now she's just like, well, we shouldn't go away at all.
Steve:Like, well, why are you even still at, at this school?
Steve:Like, where did this come from?
Steve:Serena then starts
Leif:dating younger.
Leif:Yes.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:Agreed.
Leif:Any seniors in high school around?
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Eric's got friends, right?
Steve:Yes.
Steve:He,
Leif:he can wingman for his buddies.
Leif:Oh.
Leif:Nate is having coffee with Juliet to distract her while Vanessa
Leif:goes to find her real apartment.
Leif:Juliet, however, regains Nate's sympathy by admitting that she had to, she
Leif:lied to hide the fact that she's poor.
Leif:Nate invites Juliette to the ballet tonight.
Steve:Juliet lying about being poor.
Steve:Nate's not the one you have to lie to.
Steve:Nate da dated Vanessa.
Steve:Well, she also
Leif:mentions the Hamilton House people.
Steve:Right.
Steve:Which makes sense, right?
Steve:But when she, she specifically says, NJA Archibald wouldn't be
Steve:into me, and he's dated the pores.
Steve:He had a whole relationship with Vanessa who is only worth probably a couple mil.
Steve:There's also the question of, because it sounds like Juliet
Steve:actually really has like nothing.
Steve:You know, we, we learn, did we already learn that her brother was a teacher?
Steve:That was the scene with Colin way earlier, right?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Which.
Steve:There is something scratching at the back of my fucking head and I can't get it.
Steve:And I'm, I'm not going back to rewatch the scenes that I,
Steve:but I know that I've heard it.
Steve:Like the, when he, when they pointed out that he was a teacher, I was
Steve:like, wait, that's something, I know that's something I told
Leif:you.
Leif:They mentioned it.
Steve:Right.
Steve:And I'm saying like, and I remember saying like, that will get a teacher fired.
Steve:But I don't remember what it was.
Steve:I remember them doing something and me being like, oh great, so
Steve:you're just gonna get someone fired.
Steve:So do you know want another character?
Steve:Who said it?
Steve:I think it was Nate who's, no, was it Serena?
Steve:Who was it?
Steve:Damien.
:Uh,
Steve:Jesus Christ.
Steve:Yep.
Steve:And where did Damian know Serena from?
Steve:Yep.
Steve:Yep, yep.
Steve:At her old school all coming together.
Steve:Oh fuck.
Steve:Serena, you're such a asshole.
Steve:She's got a
Leif:pattern.
Leif:Indeed, she does.
Leif:Meanwhile, Vanessa is Snoopy around Juliet's actual apartment.
Leif:She sees the clothes with tags still on him and other unusual items around
Leif:the apartment, but gets a text from Nate to call off the investigation.
Leif:But Vanessa sits down at Juliet's computer and finds pictures
Leif:of Colin and Serena kissing.
Leif:It's the naus thing to do.
Steve:Oh, no, no, no, no, no.
Steve:She's just poor.
Steve:Call everything off because now we're talking again and we might hook up again.
Leif:I think I might like her again.
Leif:And why does no one in this show protect their computer with a password?
Leif:Anyone?
Leif:Nobody has a password.
Leif:Hey, do it's probably password and gossip Girl has this to say.
Leif:They say a picture's worth a thousand words, but in this case, it seems
Leif:like there's only three letters that adequately describe these pictures.
Leif:OMG,
Leif:we move into Act three.
Leif:Blair is in the tub and has gone through an entire box of macarons.
Leif:It seems that she has ignored around 30 calls from Chuck and is clearly a
Leif:bit frustrated when she calls for roa.
Leif:Serena enters the bathroom instead, Serena tries to let Blair her strength by letting
Leif:Blair know that she broke up with Colin.
Leif:Serena leaves to make a call while Blair ignores yet another call from Chuck.
Steve:Are the macaroons supposed to be a euphemism for masturbation?
Leif:Uh, I don't know, but this is a good a time.
Leif:Is any to bring up a gaff in the show?
Leif:Okay.
Leif:They always refer to them as macaroons as you just did.
Leif:Right.
Leif:Right.
Leif:But they are actually macarons.
Leif:Macaron, which there are two, there are macaroons.
Leif:Right.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:But as macaroons are the ones that are the, like an egg, the Yes,
Leif:they are a puffed egg.
Leif:A thick Yes.
Leif:They It's like a, just like a round ball.
Leif:Yeah, like an egg white.
Leif:Yes.
Leif:A, a
Steve:sugary egg.
Steve:White and mac macros.
Steve:But they're are those
Leif:cookie wafer things, right.
Leif:That she was
Steve:eating?
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And I, I never get the, I'm always confusing the two, so I, my, my
Steve:gaff is just as in line as theirs.
Leif:But this is, that's like a series wide gaff.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Because it's not the first time.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:But I, and I asked that question because of all the macaroons
Steve:that she's clearly gone through already to prevent her frustration.
Steve:And then as she's leaving later and she's like, you know, he's hungry and
Steve:I am too, and eats another macaroon.
Steve:It's definitely, it's
Leif:kind of that, but they, they've happened shied away from the masturbation
Leif:topic before, so I think it's more just a stress eating type of thing.
Leif:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:Or which, or horny eating thing even you, you know?
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:But, which brings another point.
Leif:They're just like completely forgetting that she is a recovering bulimic.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:That, that she has an eating disorder and that she doesn't,
Steve:that you never see her eat sweetss.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:That like when she does eat, when it does and she just like binged a whole box.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:When she does, it's usually like dark chocolate and you know,
Steve:less fatty, less sugary things.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Leif:Juliet meets with Colin to let him know that she is giving up on Ben and now
Leif:that Nate is giving her a second chance.
Steve:I do think it's kind of funny in this conversation where
Steve:she's like, well, there's a boy.
Steve:I'm like, there's a boy that's gonna make me abandon my
Steve:brother and accept your money.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And it's like I get that Colin wants her away from this brother who is apparently
Steve:a bad influence in Colin's mind.
Steve:'cause he pled guilty to this crime.
Steve:But Juliet actually selling out her brother, quite literally for Nate.
Steve:Really?
Steve:Ultimately.
Steve:Well, I mean, he is already in jail.
Steve:He's selling out her, his revenge plan.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:But also he, she has to abandon him.
Steve:She's not allowed to be in touch with him Yeah.
Steve:While he's in jail.
Steve:So there's that.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I just, I, I felt like it was, once again, the Gossip Girl show.
Steve:It's all for a man, once again when she's doing this.
Steve:And I get that She likes Nate.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:I feel like she could still like be communicating with Ben behind his back.
Leif:'cause he didn't know until this, this whole scheme thing
Leif:started blowing up, right?
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:Until she
Steve:started getting caught.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:So she could still just talk to him.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:I feel like, and he would never even know.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Blair dressed for the ballet is shocked to find Chuck on her bed
Leif:wearing what I assume is Blair's robe.
Leif:She is about to give in once again, but is saved by roa.
Leif:Blair leaves to meet Colin downstairs as he is there to be Blair's date supposedly.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And he was there looking for Serena and Blair runs into him and grabs
Steve:him and says, you're my dad now.
Steve:Now.
Steve:That goofy
Leif:robe.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And what, this is another, it's a such a blairism that he's like,
Steve:oh yeah, I quit my job for Serena.
Steve:Oh, well then you must be perfect for her.
Steve:What?
Steve:We haven't got there yet.
Steve:Oh.
Steve:I thought that was right here.
Steve:When she Oh this, she was just told that he's downstairs.
Steve:My bad.
Steve:Oh yeah.
Steve:This is Chuck in the robe.
Steve:Yeah, I I love that robe too.
Steve:I love that he's there in, in Blair's robe ready to bang.
Steve:And I, I just thought the, that the sort of farcical comedy here was really nice.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:That Serena calls Dan to and saves him from an evening of DVDs and cold pizza by
Leif:inviting him to be her date to the ballet.
Leif:Tonight, I'm single and you
Steve:are the last person nice to me.
Steve:Would you go to a date with me?
Steve:Would you go to the ballet with me?
Steve:And he looks
Leif:so happy here.
Leif:He does.
Leif:And he, there's no way.
Leif:And Penn really killed it with the facial acting this episode.
Leif:Oh yeah.
Leif:Penn was great.
Leif:Yes.
Leif:And I have to wonder.
Leif:They ha are recently broken up in real life at this point, right?
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:So how is he shadowing
Steve:this?
Steve:His true feelings?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Like this is easy.
Steve:This is the easiest job I've ever had.
Steve:Uh, I mean, until he gets to certain scenes in you that I think were,
Steve:he recently released an interview about, did you see any of that?
Steve:About his experience with the intimacy coordinator in you?
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Uh, yes.
Leif:He is making love to a camera.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Steve:He's not a terrible writer, though.
Steve:I think that Penn might be a better writer than Dan.
Leif:Now, Blair comes downstairs to find Colin, who has quit his job and
Leif:is looking for Serena just, and just like with Tripp, Blair instantly flips
Leif:her script and gives full approval for Serena to bang this older dude.
Leif:Instant.
Steve:Instant.
Steve:Oh, you did.
Steve:You quit your job.
Steve:So you're not a professor anymore.
Steve:That's the only thing that was bothering me about this whole thing.
Steve:Go bang away that you're like 10 years older than her.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:En enjoy Mr.
Steve:You're a
Leif:catch.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:You're two genetically gifted people.
Leif:I, yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:The two.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:I
Leif:Genetically fortunate or something like that.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Juliet returns to her apartment to find Vanessa waiting for her.
Leif:And Juliet claims she is a changed woman who no longer wants to take Serena down.
Leif:Juliet deletes the pictures from her laptop, but Vanessa
Leif:walks away with a thumb drive
Steve:that she just showed you that she had.
Steve:She like talks, I have these photos in my hand.
Steve:Well, I'm deleting them from my laptop.
Steve:Okay.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Not smart, but Juliet there no.
Leif:And Gossip Girl has this to say,
Leif:looks like the chip on Vanessa's shoulder just went digital.
Leif:That was pretty bad one.
Leif:So bad.
Leif:And we go into Act four.
Leif:Outside the Lincoln Center.
Leif:Dan stares across the crowd at Serena, standing alone by the fountain.
Leif:Nate approaches Dan and says Serena is using him just like
Leif:she did with him last week.
Leif:When Dan says Serena broke up with Colin, the boys see Serena and
Leif:Colin now together and talking.
Leif:Colin lets Serena know that he quit his position and the two go in for the
Leif:kiss one, the camera pans back to Dan.
Leif:From across the crowd, we can see his heart shatter into a million pieces.
Steve:I really liked this interaction with Nate too.
Leif:Yeah, because it, this whole scene was free.
Leif:I, I, this song is really good.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:The shot of the Lincoln Center was beautiful.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:It, it was just all, it all came together.
Steve:You also have like the clear cameos from the ballerinas.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Who get introduced, who Blair introduces.
Steve:What I liked about the Nate thing is, you can see Nate's still pissed.
Steve:And Nate's doing the Nate thing of like making little digs at Dan, but
Steve:you can also kind of see that this is how the two of them get back together.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Whenever they've had tension, it always starts the few shots and
Steve:then they kind of get over that.
Steve:So I feel like despite the way that this episode ends, I feel like there's
Steve:room for them to work through stuff.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Chuck finds Blair and puts on the hard press.
Leif:Blair says that Colin wasn't a distraction from Chuck, but rather Chuck was her
Leif:distraction from Colin, who she agreed not to sleep with until the semester was over.
Leif:Chuck, however, doesn't buy it.
Leif:Clever Blair.
Leif:It was.
Leif:It was a good attempt.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Nate finds Vanessa at the ballet and the two strike up a conversation.
Leif:Vanessa begins waving her champagne glass like a cartoon villain while
Leif:revealing her entire plan before walking off to find the dean.
Leif:Nate sees Blair and knows who to turn to when it's time to protect Serena.
Leif:Yep.
Steve:It's time to protect Serena.
Steve:And the good thing about this though, is that she also spills that
Steve:Juliet had this in the first place.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:So that everybody can be isolated and really solidify the non-judging
Steve:breakfast club, which is one of my favorite things that this show does.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Serena chases down a Leaving Dan to apologize, but still remains
Leif:indecisive about the whole thing.
Leif:Uh, I kind
Steve:of like you, but I kinda like Kyle too.
Steve:I loved how Dan was like, how far down on the list.
Steve:Am I?
Steve:Which one?
Steve:Where am I?
Steve:So it was Colin, Nate, me, who else?
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Not, not a, not a happy episode for Dan.
Leif:No.
Leif:When Vanessa finally finds Dean wether, she is quickly interrupted
Leif:and pulled aside by Juliette.
Leif:She begs Vanessa not to go through with it because she had a change of heart.
Leif:Vanessa figures out that Julia is backing down because of Nate and informs her of
Leif:Nate's part in the plan from earlier.
Leif:V then points out that Nate is probably telling Blair everything
Leif:right now because the NJBC will always defend each other over any outsider.
Leif:Julia takes the message to heart, grabs the thumb drive, and
Leif:marches back over to the dean.
Steve:You have four best friends that are always going to defend each other.
Steve:Four people who ride or die will always, even if they hate each other in the
Steve:moment, four people that are always gonna ride or die and always stick up for each
Steve:other and always be there for each other.
Steve:I have friends like that, right?
Steve:I have my best friends that I would pretty much ride or die for.
Steve:What I'm getting at is, as I said earlier, Vanessa's whole thing here is jealousy.
Steve:She's so mad that this group shut her out.
Steve:She never liked them.
Steve:She liked Nate for a little bit.
Steve:She's always hated Blair.
Steve:She's always hated Chuck.
Steve:She's never really had anything to do with Serena except for losing out to her.
Steve:So she has this entire jealousy motivation for these people who she doesn't like
Steve:and doesn't want who, because they don't want her to be a part of it.
Steve:You don't like 'em anyway.
Steve:It's like people protesting gay marriage.
Steve:Why are you protesting a wedding you're not invited to?
Steve:Anyway?
Steve:So like why is Vanessa so upset about Serena?
Steve:Well, I think she's still pissed
Leif:off about Serena stealing Dan
Steve:last season, which he really didn't do.
Steve:It wasn't even last season.
Steve:It was the beginning of this one, right?
Steve:Or are you talking about the end of last season?
Steve:The end of last season.
Steve:Season
Leif:when, when they ki when they kissed and slept in the same bed.
Steve:Right, right.
Steve:But there's that and yes, like this year when Dan was all
Steve:wishy-washy about Vanessa,
Leif:they, they're not together.
Leif:They weren't, yeah.
Leif:They weren't really together then.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:So he was Steve, was that his Right to figure out who he wanted to be with?
Steve:Right.
Steve:And I, but I still believe that that plays into Vanessa's.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Unjustified jealousy.
Steve:Well, I think she's kind of justified her jealousy towards Serena.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:Not unjustified jealousy, but unjustified.
Steve:She, she has, she's not justified in trying to take
Steve:down Serena for being jealous.
Steve:No.
Steve:No.
Steve:And, and so it's one of those, Vanessa, you're so fucking wrong
Steve:on every point, and Serena hasn't actually done shit to Vanessa.
Steve:She is really, she, she spent, she kissed her boyfriend.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:Wrong.
Steve:She had a boyfriend and she kissed your boyfriend.
Steve:That's wrong.
Steve:That is the end of what Serena did to Vanessa.
Steve:Yeah, I agree.
Steve:And Vanessa fucked Serena over by stealing her phone and giving it to
Steve:someone who was going to fuck her over
Leif:harder.
Leif:And I, I don't know why Vanessa wants to vindicate herself to a dean of a score.
Leif:She doesn't go Right.
Leif:Yes.
Leif:Like, and, and
Steve:I love, I love how they Well, they point that out in a little bit.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:But
Leif:we get a gossip curl blast before we go to the break and it says.
Leif:Put on your toe shoes, Serena.
Leif:It's gonna be hard to dance your way out of this one.
Leif:And we move into Act five, we get a really fun and chaotic scene where
Leif:Juliet, Vanessa tried to expose Serena's affair with Colin, but the
Leif:non-judging Breakfast Club dance circles around the other characters.
Leif:Blair drops the thumb drive in a glass of champagne and says it was
Leif:her having the affair with Colin.
Leif:This is confirmed by Chuck who admits he has Blair followed.
Leif:When Vanessa tries to argue back, she gets scorched by Dean Wether,
Leif:and she's like, who are you?
Steve:Which fair?
Steve:Right?
Steve:Like you're, you don't, and which also, like Vanessa, you don't go here,
Steve:you have like a whole other school.
Steve:How do you have no friends at NYU?
Steve:How is Dan still your only friend?
Steve:Like are you We, well, I, the answer is you're fucking unbearable, but
Steve:still go meet theater friends.
Leif:She did have friends at NYU, but she's not important
Leif:enough to get her own storylines.
Leif:Right.
Leif:Because Yeah.
Leif:That no one would wanna watch.
Leif:And Vanessa just alone at n nyu Yeah.
Steve:The, the, the, the Vanessa spinoff hanging out with the Tisch kids.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:She go date Paul again
Steve:and argue with Willa.
Steve:Oh
Steve:yeah.
Steve:I think Willow's even worse than the mad do.
Steve:She's a, well, Willow's a sociopath.
Steve:I mean, sexual predator an a sexual predator and a sociopath,
Steve:which I guess you kind of have to be one to be the other, but.
Leif:Colin chases down Juliet and announces that she is officially cut off.
Leif:She then gets surrounded by the non-judging breakfast club who
Leif:banish her from Columbia, which you
Steve:can't, but, but they can because her, because she pay, they don't
Steve:really pay a payback for anymore.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:First of all, Colin, again, just being like, I've tried like I try,
Steve:like I'm not mad at him for this.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:You really screwed me over and you really screwed over someone I care about.
Steve:For what?
Steve:For your criminal brother who, I'm kind of guessing that whatever it is that
Steve:he was set up, if I remember correctly, the thing Damien said, I think it has
Steve:something to do with drugs and the teacher getting set up drugs or alcohol
Steve:or something, if I remember correctly.
Steve:But, but something that I remember saying that it would get a teacher arrested.
Steve:Was it in the coat room
Leif:that he says it?
Leif:I think he was in the car.
Leif:Uh, possibly.
Leif:Gossip girl has this to say as we go to break
Leif:spotted one ugly duckling exile.
Leif:Let's hope she doesn't turn into a black swan.
Steve:I don't think it's right to call Juliet an ugly duckling duckling,
Leif:and we move into the epilogue.
Leif:Serena and Colin are in cab, and Colin apologizes for Juliet's behavior.
Leif:Serena once again breaks up with him and once again proving that Colin didn't
Leif:give a shit about his teaching position.
Leif:Worst.
Leif:Serena, for that matter, let's her outta the cab with a big smile on his face.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:He's like, all right.
Steve:Eh, easy cop, easy go.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Okay, man, I really, I really did like give up a lot for you,
Steve:but not that much relatively.
Steve:And I'm just gonna go bang.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:All right.
Steve:Cool.
Steve:Like, I was really gonna go back to my life doing what I was doing.
Steve:Yep.
Steve:I was cool playing the slow game with you because like, I thought
Steve:you might be worth it, but then again, I can go not do that anymore.
Steve:So, cool.
Steve:Douches and,
Leif:and be a billionaire.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:This was fun.
Steve:I'm just gonna gallivant some more.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:But, but, uh, again, like, fuck you, Serena, like this guy quits
Steve:for you, and you're like, Hmm.
Steve:Now that I can have him.
Steve:I, I realize this is boring and it's not hot anymore, so
Steve:now I need to find someone.
Steve:Well, I think now he actually feels kind of like my dad.
Steve:Oh, yeah.
Steve:I need something hotter, like a couple guys fighting over me or something.
Steve:This just isn't doing it for me.
Leif:Serena calls and leaves a voicemail for Dan to come meet her mid voicemail.
Leif:She ignores a call from Nate,
Steve:and because Dan was the last person nice to me, I'm gonna go, I,
Steve:I think I need to hook up with Dan.
Steve:She saw him after the kiss, right?
Steve:She kissed Colin and then saw him and shed the down.
Steve:Saw him.
Steve:Yeah, that's right.
Steve:She chased the down and she was kind
Leif:of like, she was wishy was, she was like, yeah, I, I do kind of
Leif:like you, but I kinda like Colin too.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:But this guy and Dan, Dan just like over it.
Leif:He, he left.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:At the Loft, we see Dan instantly get the voicemail with a green on
Leif:his face and heads back out the door.
Leif:Yep.
Leif:Of course.
Leif:While Serena's waiting outside for Dan, Nate walks up, he admits that it was
Leif:Juliet who turned him against Serena.
Leif:He wonders aloud what might have happened between him and Serena.
Leif:If not for Juliet's interference.
Leif:Dan steps outta the cab behind Nate and once again has the look
Leif:of the saddest man in the world
Steve:and we cut away.
Steve:Right.
Steve:We don't see a resolution here and we know that Serena sees Dan.
Steve:Nate never turns around, does he?
Steve:No, I don't think so.
Steve:So, which I was kind of hoping for that.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I was hoping for the three to make eye contact and it'd be like, oh,
Steve:which again, Dan, Serena, Nate.
Steve:Just work it out.
Steve:Just work it out.
Leif:The three
Steve:of you.
Leif:I think, once again, Serena is clearly choosing Dan.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:And Nate's just kind of been there and she's not gonna, she doesn't dislike Nate.
Leif:She's not gonna be mean to him for no reason.
Leif:No.
Leif:But she did ignore his call and he just showed up.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:The other side of that is, is that now Nate has come and said nice things
Steve:to her, and that's the secret to getting Serena is say nice things to
Leif:her.
Leif:But the last time this happened at the, in episode four, he, he was
Leif:saying nice things, but I think she was clearly leaning towards Dan.
Leif:Maybe Blair and Chuck are sitting in front of a fire celebrating their victory.
Leif:They agree that they are back to being just old friends, but as they begin
Leif:to part for the evening, they instead embrace in loving passion rather
Leif:than the hate they had been doing.
Steve:I was actually hoping this was it, like they had the day of.
Steve:They, they, they had their, they banged it out.
Steve:But did they like they did.
Steve:Apparently they did.
Steve:They did not.
Steve:They did not.
Steve:I, I was, because you know, Blair had her detox all day.
Steve:It was the end of the day.
Steve:They had their scheme.
Steve:It was better than sex.
Steve:They chatted it out.
Steve:It would've been such a great moment for them to clink their
Steve:glasses, shake hands, and go home.
Steve:Yep.
Steve:I'm just tired of this.
Steve:Robin is all in on Blair and Chuck.
Steve:I want Dare.
Steve:I've been very vocal.
Steve:I'm waiting for Dare and I want that to happen and I'm so over Blair and Chuck.
Steve:It's just give me some different story.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Today was a different story for them.
Steve:Slightly, but give me something for real different.
Steve:Give them something
Leif:else.
Leif:I'm just so
Steve:tired of it.
Leif:Under Vanessa's advice, Juliet is video chatting with little J for
Leif:help on how to fight back against the non-judging breakfast club.
Leif:Vanessa,
Steve:even bigger asshole, you know, of all people that the reason Jenny moved
Steve:away is because she kept getting sucked into this shit and it was making her a
Steve:terrible person and she didn't want to be the terrible person she was becoming.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:And now Vanessa went and drug her back in and it's also like,
Steve:Jenny, what the fuck are you doing?
Steve:Like you stay out of this shit for a reason now.
Steve:So why are you getting involved in this?
Steve:She's an addict.
Steve:She is.
Steve:She is.
Steve:And it's just, and you don't win, like you get ground, but
Steve:you know, you have said yourself.
Steve:It is a war of attrition if you are going up against them that they have
Steve:the resources and they have the not giving a fucks to win every time.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:So you're just getting yourself in more trouble.
Steve:Just go on tour with your band and stay there.
Leif:Gossip Girl ends the episode with this monologue.
Leif:Sometimes in life we hit a crossroads and are forced to choose which path we want to
Leif:take, and there's no way of knowing if our journey will lead us to pleasure or pain.
Leif:Once we've made our choice, there's no turning back.
Leif:Watch out Upper East Side.
Leif:I think this could be the beginning of an ugly friendship.
Leif:Xo xo.
Leif:Yas up girl.
Leif:What is coming
Steve:next?
Steve:Alright, well obviously we're gonna get little J And now I did see the thumbnail
Steve:that we have at least two episodes, or I don't know if she's in the next
Steve:one, but the episode after next, the thumbnail she's in, in the thumbnail.
Steve:Uh, so I know that we've got little J coming in, so we're gonna have a a, a
Steve:Brooklyn Upper East Side War that, that we're gonna have this little, uh, class
Steve:war going on between Juliet, Vanessa, and.
Steve:Jenny and the non-judging breakfast pod club we're the, we're the pod.
Steve:I am curious as to where the Serena of it all will land with Little J. 'cause
Steve:I know Jenny hates Serena very much for the same reasons Vanessa does.
Steve:Serena didn't do anything to Jenny last episode, except have a boyfriend
Steve:that Jenny wanted, and Jenny did everything she could to fuck with Serena.
Steve:Not everything she could, but Jenny definitely went after Serena last year
Steve:without Serena really knowing Serena.
Leif:Absolutely.
Leif:You know, and she, she hates.
Leif:Jenny and reiterated that the last time Jenny showed up this season,
Steve:that's Oh, that's right.
Steve:She did.
Steve:She was very much like, fuck off little J My, my point being that Serena's
Steve:animosity towards Jenny is Jenny's fault.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:That Jenny, that Jenny went after Serena's boyfriend and fucked
Steve:with her relationship and then tried to fuck with her whole family.
Steve:So I'm cool with Serena being mad at Jenny, but Jenny, like,
Steve:you're just digging yourself into a ditch by doing this.
Steve:And Serena's probably the one person who, when Jenny needed
Steve:it, was in her corner at times.
Steve:Like early on.
Leif:Early on, she, she was not great a couple times.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Uh, Jenny's party that she took
Steve:over, Jenny's party that she took over was really the thing that I
Steve:feel Serena did most to Jenny directly.
Steve:And there's something
Leif:in season three as well.
Leif:It was, it was something similar to that.
Leif:I forget, I'm forgetting what it was.
Leif:I,
Steve:I know, I do know what you're talking about though.
Steve:My overall point being, I don't think that, er, that, that Jenny has
Steve:good motivation to go after Serena, despite going hating her anyway.
Steve:That, that, I feel like hers is mostly self, mostly self-inflicted.
Steve:Much like Vanessa's, I feel is mostly self inflict.
Leif:Oh.
Leif:I feel like at this point Jenny's just coming in 'cause she's bored.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Probably.
Steve:Well, and, and will always take a shot at Blair.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I feel like more than, more than the others.
Steve:I think that Jenny will always take a shot at Blair if she gets a shot.
Steve:So I think that's more of her motivation here.
Steve:I think that we're gonna get some more drama between Dan, Nate, and Serena.
Steve:I do think that we're gearing up towards a Dan Serena.
Steve:Pairing at some point.
Steve:I don't know if they've ever lasted more than three episodes as a couple.
Steve:Since the first season.
Steve:Since the first season.
Steve:And even in, I feel like even in the first season, a lot of times it
Steve:was no, from like five to the end of the season they were together.
Steve:Oh.
Steve:I felt like they were off and on, but I could be, I could just be forgetting that.
Steve:But yeah, they break up at the very end.
Steve:They,
Leif:they of course have their little issues, but they never broke
Leif:up once they fully got together.
Leif:Okay.
Steve:Okay.
Steve:So I think I see that kind of coming back together.
Steve:That puts Nate sort of at odds.
Steve:So, and obviously we're gonna get this whole Ben Juliet thing is gonna
Steve:get exposed 'cause Juliet doesn't, she's no longer beheld to Colin.
:Mm-hmm.
Steve:I wonder if she's actually gonna stay away from Columbia 'cause her tuition
Steve:is paid through the end of the semester.
Steve:I think.
Steve:I would think that she would at least try to sneak in and outta classes, but,
Steve:so I think those are my predictions.
Leif:Well, we will never see Colin again.
Steve:He was just like, deuces.
Steve:I'm over it.
Steve:That is so funny to me.
Steve:Like, oh, okay, you don't want to, you don't want on.
Steve:Okay, I'll just, I'm, I'm onto the next one.
Steve:Especially because of the Juliet, Ben's storyline not being complete
Steve:and him being tied into it.
Steve:I liked Col, but he wasn't really ever tied into it other than just being,
Steve:other than being coincidentally related.
Steve:Related co. The, the coincidence is the only thing that I
Steve:don't like about all of this.
Steve:I actually would've maybe liked him more if, even if he didn't know, but
Steve:Juliet used him to target Serena.
Steve:Anything.
Steve:The whole, like, wa it's, come on.
Leif:It's too easy.
Leif:Well, let's get into segments.
Leif:This week in fandom, we travel in the way back machine to
Leif:the fan forearms from 2010.
:Hello there.
:Peabody here, and this is the way back machine for traveling through time.
:And this is my boy she speak Chairman.
:Hello.
:Good boy.
:Very positive reactions
Leif:overall.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:This was, this was a, a step up.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Dan was wrong for saying Colin should quit.
Steve:No, he
Leif:wasn't.
Leif:He wasn't.
Leif:He wasn't.
Leif:I've been saying that for three episodes.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Chuck and Blair were cute and fun.
Steve:Yeah, yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:I'll give that
Leif:exciting for the upcoming battle between the outsiders
Leif:versus the upper insiders.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:That I'm, I, I think that'll be, I'm excited for it.
Steve:I'm also kinda worried that they'll shit the bed in the execution, so
Leif:why is it so hard for Serena to just say, I picked Dan, so I
Leif:think they agree with me that, that she was clearly was picking Dan.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Leif:But she just wouldn't say no to Nate.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And which it's such a Serena thing.
Steve:Like I can't say No, I can't let any, we always wants to keep
Leif:that door open.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:I can't
Steve:let Yeah, exactly.
Leif:Because eventually she, what she does, it's gonna come crumbling down
Leif:with Dan too, because she always does.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And because her role model for how to handle relationships is
Steve:Lily ba Is is Lily Vander Woodson.
Steve:Bass.
Steve:Humphrey.
Steve:Klaus.
Steve:Klaus.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Oh, I'm trying to think of Cece's.
Steve:Rhodes.
Steve:Rhodes, yeah.
Leif:Vanessa.
Leif:Juliet.
Leif:And Jenny's ship name should be vi jj.
Steve:That's good.
Steve:That is actually really, really clever.
Leif:Why is Vanessa going after Serena instead of Dan?
Leif:Nate?
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Why are you so obsessed with Serena right now?
Steve:Vanessa?
Steve:I hated that.
Steve:I, I really hated that whole like.
Steve:She'll always win.
Steve:We'll, if we don't take her down now, and it's like, what do you, what
Steve:do you really care about Vanessa?
Steve:Go to college.
Steve:Go to NYU, go to class.
Steve:You, you
Leif:went, you're gonna one of the best schools in the, in the world, you know?
Leif:Yeah.
Steve:Go take advantage.
Steve:Go to parties.
Steve:There.
Leif:Felt bad for Dan.
Leif:Happy to see Colin and Serena kiss.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:That was sad.
Leif:The NJBC is full of win.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:And they are worried about Jenny coming back.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I'm a little worried about it.
Steve:I really like Taylor Mumon on this show.
Steve:I think she did a terrific job when she was written off.
Steve:I felt like it was natural.
Steve:I feel pulling her back is I, I get that it's, she's under contract,
Steve:but it just feels that way.
Steve:It just feels like, well, we gotta throw her in a few times.
Steve:And yeah,
Leif:I, I feel like it was like an agreement that she would come
Leif:back a couple times to get out of her, you know, full season order.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:I just, yeah,
Steve:I don't like this.
Leif:Moving on to episode grades.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:This was definitely a much better episode.
Leif:I thought the directing was really good.
Leif:The shots with the, at the outside, the Lincoln Center was really great.
Leif:Mm-hmm.
Leif:Also, of course the big, you know, confrontation scene
Leif:with the dean was really good.
Leif:Everything just, it, it felt a very much like the Thanksgiving
Leif:scene with everything just popping one, you know, the person would be
Leif:popping in, next person pops in.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:The next person pops in.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:So, yeah, that was good.
Leif:Even the Chuck and Blair stuff wasn't as boring as normal,
Leif:so I ended up with a b plus
Steve:that, honestly, that's where I landed too.
Steve:It was, I loved the take down at the end.
Steve:I loved the non-judging breakfast pod getting together.
Steve:Club did it again, the non-judging breakfast club,
Steve:getting together and taking down.
Steve:Taking down Juliet.
Steve:I felt like there was, uh, some of the Vanessa stuff I think was a little weak,
Steve:which is why I didn't give it the A. But there was a few weak points in that.
Steve:But overall I do agree it's people.
Leif:But yeah.
Leif:Vanessa is now fully entered to her fill error.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:Yeah, it
Leif:it,
Steve:yeah.
Leif:The way she was just like swinging that champagne glass around.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:All right.
Leif:Moving over to Stockwatch going up.
Leif:I had Serena 'cause she had everyone falling at her feet as
Leif:usual and came out unscathed.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Chuck, uh, because he, you know, he was having a fun time and he
Leif:seems to be back in Blair's heart.
Steve:Yeah,
Leif:Blair.
Leif:'cause she was just, had a fun time as well and had her, you
Leif:know, successful scheme and.
Leif:You know, she's getting lots of, uh, sex.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:Nate, I had going up as well 'cause he was taking around
Leif:along for two successful schemes.
Leif:Yeah, he was, he was carried through twice.
Leif:And I also had Dean weer going up for that sick burn of Vanessa.
Steve:Yes.
Steve:I, I also, that's it for you.
Steve:Yep.
Steve:I that I also had the all four of the non-judging breakfast club going up.
Steve:The teamwork, the take down.
Steve:All of that I thought worked really well together.
Steve:I had Colin going up 'cause he's free to live the bachelor life that he was
Steve:doing ahead of time and he has gotten rid of the shackles of academia.
Steve:So I'm, I'm giving Colin the up, I'm giving the dean the up for not having
Steve:the time of day to deal with bullshit and putting Vanessa in her place.
Steve:I, I loved that.
Steve:And I'm also giving Eric an up for touring Wesleyan.
Steve:Good job.
Steve:That's a, that's a big step.
Steve:And he was mentioned and that, I'm gonna give her Eric like that
Leif:for me, going down, I had Vanessa, obviously she
Leif:failed, failed, failed, failed.
Leif:I had Dan going down 'cause yeah, he got cocked twice.
Leif:I had Juliette going down 'cause she.
Leif:Cut off kicked outta Columbia.
Leif:You know, she's not Yeah.
Leif:Juliet's fucked at this point.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:And you had Kyle going up?
Leif:I had him going down 'cause he got dumped twice.
Steve:Yeah, he did.
Steve:He did.
Steve:I just, I don't think that that hurts
Leif:him.
Leif:Yeah, it doesn't hurt him that bad.
Leif:But he, I can't give him up 'cause he, he at best he's neutral
Leif:but he did get dumped twice.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:I guess I saw it as like, you know, now that he's free, his stock he
Steve:can do Yeah, he's free to, he's free to go up now, but yeah.
Steve:In this episode he was dumped twice.
Steve:He was he was by a teenager.
Steve:Yes.
Leif:Who do you have
Steve:going
Leif:down?
Steve:I had Vanessa going down for uh, just for being shitty and
Steve:being a jealous whiner, just go to NYU and go to some parties.
Steve:I had Juliet going down 'cause she lost everything.
Steve:And, and I'm giving Jenny a down for getting roped back into the
Steve:bullshit that you're better than this.
Steve:And I'm also gonna give Rufuss a down 'cause he seems so glum.
Steve:Like Jesus Rufuss.
Steve:Like he seems so sad.
Steve:And it's funny 'cause I was like, why is Rufuss seems so sad?
Steve:And then I was like, his daughter doesn't live there.
Steve:I, I get that.
Steve:I'm always sad my kids aren't around.
Steve:Anyone else?
Steve:I
Leif:don't
Steve:think
Leif:so.
Leif:Well then it is time for best outfit, but here's the best outfits from the
:last episode we seen.
Leif:For me.
Leif:I had Serena's gray lace dress with the ombre chain mail clutch.
Leif:The dress was from the Zaha Marad Fall 2010 collection.
Leif:Yeah,
Steve:it was for me it was between that and the robe that Chuck was
Steve:wearing and I'm gonna give it to Serena.
Steve:I don't give it to Serena often.
Steve:I feel like her dresses are often boob dresses.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:They're just, they're, I feel like they're there to showcase
Steve:her boobs more than anything else.
Steve:Yeah.
Steve:And sometimes they do that and it's very, and it's very elegant
Steve:and very neat looking dresses.
Steve:Uh, this one I just really felt was a beautiful dress that really just let her
Steve:be beautiful without over sexualizing her, which I don't think they do very much.
Leif:Yeah.
Leif:Well that is it for segments.
Leif:Do you have anything you would like to plug?
Leif:I
Steve:don't at this point.
Steve:I'm pretty sure my show in Lock Haven is over.
Steve:I think that was last weekend.
Steve:So.
Steve:I don't really have much outside of my Instagram and TikTok at
Steve:Steve Marshon, M-A-R-C-H-I-O-N.
Steve:So go ahead and check me out there and give me a follow
Leif:for me.
Leif:I am finally watching a show.
Leif:I always plan to watch.
Leif:I knew from like the beginning I was gonna watch it, but they said
Leif:there was only gonna have four seasons, so I decided to wait.
Leif:I'm finally watching it and that's succession and it is fucking amazing.
Leif:And it's, it's Gossip girl.
Leif:It's, it's so Gossip Girl coded.
Leif:But with HBO level production quality, I, that is one of the
Leif:ones that I've wanted to watch.
Leif:They are all such total pieces of shit constantly scheming and
Leif:backstabbing against each other.
Leif:The acting is just so good.
Leif:Like Kendall is such a piece of fucking shit.
Leif:But at least once season, once a season, he has to be like breaking down in tears
Leif:for him because he's just so pathetic.
Steve:And, and that show, if I remember correctly, was originally shot with
Steve:Kevin Spacey for the first season and then all of the shit came out about him.
Steve:He got I didn't hear that.
Steve:Yeah, he got me toed and they re-shot.
Steve:Yeah, I think he was like the patriarch and they re-shot the entire thing.
Steve:Wow.
Steve:Glad they did because
Leif:Brian Cox was definitely the right choice.
Steve:Yeah, I think it was.
Steve:I think that it was that character,
Leif:but it, yeah, it's, it's very Gossip girl.
Leif:And it's, you know, these rich New Yorkers on the Upper East Side.
Leif:All pretty much horrible people scheming against each other constantly.
Steve:Mm-hmm.
Steve:Yeah.
Leif:And that is it for plugs.

Leif:Chuck host Jose Saints and Sinners masquerade at Party, at the Empire
Leif:Hotel At the party, Dan and Nate don't know what to make of Serena's
Leif:strange behavior and mixed messages.
Leif:Blair sets her sights on becoming the new face of Anne
Leif:Archibald's Foundation for girls.
Leif:But Anne is concerned that Blair's friendship with Chuck
Leif:Bass may be problematic.
Leif:Oh God,
Steve:Anne, first of all, Ann, fuck you.
Steve:Your relationship is problematic.
Steve:Your husband is in jail.
Steve:He's the good guy now, and he's the good parent now.
Steve:He's the parent that actually took a step back, clearly got some
Steve:fucking therapy in prison and rehab, and is like, wow, son, as long as
Steve:you're here in my life, I'm good.
Leif:Howie.
Steve:Oh, Howie.
