Season #25 Episode#:20 Shaun Boyce and Rob Carver

Want to take control of your tennis match right from the first point? In this episode of the GoTennis! Podcast, Shaun Boyce teams up with USPTA elite pro Rob Carver to share a game-changing tip that will help you set the tone early and keep your opponents on the defensive.

Ready to take your game to the next level? Keep listening!

Key Facts Raised by Rob Carver

In this short episode, Rob Carver shares some intriguing tricks that can change your playing style. Here are the key facts he raised-

  • Set the tone early: Poach the very first point of your match, regardless of whether you win or lose. The goal is to establish confidence and disrupt your opponent’s rhythm.
  • Take charge of the game: Attack the first easy second serve by going down the line or even lobbing the net player to set your play patterns early.
  • Make your opponent react: By setting aggressive patterns of play, you force your opponent to react to you rather than allowing them to control the game.

Special Thanks

  • A big thank you to regeovenate.com for the use of their studio.
  • Special thanks to Signature Tennis for their ongoing support of the podcast.

Rob Carver. Have a listen and let us know what you think.

Speaker:

Hi, I'm Rob Carver, USPTA Elite Pro, and also author of the book, 366 Days of Tennis,

Speaker:

A Tip of Data Improve Your Game. And today's tip is called Setting the Tone.

Speaker:

You've seen it in other sports when the victorious team is interviewed.

Speaker:

Either the head coach or a star player will say, "We set the tone early. We kept our opponents

Speaker:

on their heels." So here's how you set the tone in your next tennis match. When you're at the net,

Speaker:

poach the very first point. It's okay if you don't win or lose, just try.

Speaker:

How about this? Taking the first, easy second serving, going down the line, or even lobbing

Speaker:

the net person. You want to set your patterns to play early and try to get your opponents reacting

Speaker:

to you rather than you counter-attacking. So remember, set the tone. Have a great day and hang tough.

Speaker:

Well, there you have it. We want to thank RreGeovinate.com for use of the studio and signature tennis for
