This episode covers Genesis 1 through the start of chapter 2, where the creation account actually ends. **Bara: Made From Nothing** The Hebrew word bara is used only for God's creative act, never for humans shaping existing material. That distinction sets up the entire chapter: God isn't organizing chaos, he's speaking something into being that wasn't there at all. **The Rhythm of Six Days** Each day follows the same pattern: God speaks, it happens, God calls it good, evening and morning. Days one through three form spaces, and days four through six fill them, a structure that's deliberate rather than random. **Made in God's Image** The concept of image and likeness draws on the same idea as ancient kings setting up statues to represent their rule in places they couldn't personally occupy. Genesis extends that role to every human being, not just kings or a special class of people. **Rest as Part of the Design** God building a seventh day of rest into creation before any command or law was ever given says something about what we're made for, especially if rest feels impossible to find in your own life right now. The point isn't to win a science argument. It's to see that Genesis 1 is already full of Christ, echoed directly in John's Gospel, and that pulling one thread out of this chapter tends to unravel more than we expect.
