EPISODE 71 OF THE HER EMPOWERED DIVORCE PODCAST - DIVORCE EXPERT SERIES #6

Special Guest Expert : Tina Huggins, Certified Divorce and Domestic Violence Coach

In this episode of the Her Empowered Divorce Expert Series podcast, Beverly Price interviews Tina Huggins about the differences that a divorce involving domestic violence has and what a woman should do and not do.

Please note: if you are experiencing domestic violence of any kind – verbal, mental, emotional, physical, financial, religious or other forms, DO NOT try to leave the abuser without first getting help of a domestic violence specialist such as the staff at your local domestic violence shelter or by calling the US Domestic Violence Hotline 888-799-7233. 70% of women leaving abusers without expert advice (not just from family or friends) are murdered! Be aware and get help.

Key Interview Questions:

1) Do you consider High Conflict to always involve a form of abuse such as domestic violence?

2) Why do people that are in an abusive relationship stay?

3) Do the people that are in these types of relationships realize they are in abusive relationships?

4) What do you suggest to someone that is in an abusive relationship do once they realize they are in this type of relationship?

5) How do we help someone that we think is in an abusive relationship?

What 3 actionable takeaways can you give women that they can do to enhance their journey from beginning to end and recovery from the divorce process?

1) Once a woman realizes her situation is abusive I suggest you tell as many people, that you trust, about your situation as you can. The more people that know what is going on the safer you become, the more help you will have or in the least, they will see their true friends. In this process get some professional help. A trained Divorce Coach is a good form of help but you can look at the domestic shelter and talk to them about what assistance they have to offer.

2) You have to have a plan of getting out. You have to know what to take out of the home, that is safe and that will not be noticed such as copies of financial information. Then you have to have the final exit plan in place, who will help with the final move out, where you will go to stay safe, they only people that will know your exact location, when to hire the lawyer and what lawyer to hire.

3) Once the process is under way they will need a lot of personal support, a coach, if they are trained for this, and or a therapist. A therapist in most cases is the best. This person will need to learn how to love themselves probably from the first time ever. This will be an ongoing process.

About Tina:

Tina has coached for over 30 years, her background is vast and includes law enforcement, self-defense instruction, and divorce paper investigation. During the time Tina was involved in law enforcement, she helped get women and children out of abusive homes and into a safe location. Tina has also taught self-defense to the local battered woman's shelter. Some place during all this Tina's own father was almost murdered by his second wife.

Fast forward a little, Tina found her own relationship becoming more abusive to the point it finally ended up violent, although ,Tina did not realize that when it started. Tina now can tell you that this is normal for both men and women that deal with any forms of abuse. Fast forward again, Tina ended up helping a lawyer on, at the time, a four-year long divorce doing paper investigation. Tina spent the next three years on that specific divorce.

It was at this time that Tina realized that this lawyer, working on this case, was definitely not helping this client. It was this specific reason why Tina felt she needed more tools so she went out to get her Divorce Coach Certification. After getting her certification Tina was hired by that divorce client. He then let his lawyer of the last seven years go, Tina was able to help him find the right lawyer and after a good long push that client has finally come to the end of what came out to be an almost 9 year divorce, the longest on that counties books.

Tina not only has the experience, she has the practical knowledge to help her clients get out, say out, and to do that all safely. Recently Tina was labeled the Top Defense Divorce Coach and Tina is also one of the only Divorce Professionals that offers a guarantee for her work. If you are in an abusive relationship, you need Tina in your corner.
