“But as the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them”. This is an examinitive text which gives us pause to reflect:- do we take time to allow the Holy Spirit to speak into our life and choices; and have we ever heard him say no? It’s an important question: its very easy for us to be carried away with how we feel, with the righteousness and urgency of our mission - but is it really our mission? Is it the Lord’s? Are we willing for him really to say yes or no? This is really the question of our freedom - and the integrity of our love for Christ.

Let us pray:

“Almighty and eternal God, who through the regenerating power of Baptism have been pleased to confer on us heavenly life, grant, we pray, that those you render capable of immortality by justifying them may by your guidance attain the fullness of glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.”
