The Old Testament sacrificial system established a structure to cover sin. But God’s plan of Redemption wasn’t over. He wanted to do away with the consequences of sin forever. 2000 years ago in steps, Jesus…and in the words of John the Baptist, he said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
