Hey, girl, hey, I am so excited to tell you all about my tech setup for the podcast because although I, my husband's a techie, and he likes to buy a lot of equipment, it doesn't have to be that complicated. I feel like I first got started doing podcasting and was like, alright, let's just use stuff that I already have around the house. And then I had to get some more sophisticated stuff. But if you're a first time podcaster, you don't have to have a whole bunch of stuff. Okay, so I don't know if you know this. But when I record, I don't use big headphones, I use my beats my beats that fit in my ear, and I love them. They are just some regular in the ear headphones. Because I think that when you have headphones using something that's going to cover your ears, something that's comfortable. I am not an audio engineer. I'm just a person's doing a podcast. So I don't need to see here all like the boops and the bleeps and the blah, blah, blah, furs editing, I probably would need that. But I'm not not editing. And I try and do this all on one shoot. So I don't have to like heavily edit it anyways. I just don't I just wanted to get it done. Right. Okay, so I use a free tool called Audacity to do the recording. And it's free, you just download it, you press record, and then you can start recording. It's that easy. And it doesn't have to be overly complicated. Another thing that I use is a microphone, the first microphone that I had was a Blue Yeti, and it sat on my desk and it was perfectly fine. You can get it on Amazon, I think they're like $50. I don't use them anymore, because my husband broke it. That's the only reason although that's still using it. I'm using now it's called a road podcast or mic or something. I don't know our D by road. And we upgraded to this one because I would be doing podcasting. And I wanted to have better sound quality. Not that the Blue Yeti is not great. It's just that if I'm going to buy another thing, I might as well upgrade. You know what I mean? I'm not going to buy a new one just because if it works, but if I'm going to buy something new, I'm going to upgrade it if I can't, and I could. So I bought this. And another thing that I use is a giant sheet because my office echoes you might be able to hear now, I don't know. But it echoed really bad before I had the sheet up. And I'm kind of in a corner so that way, the sound bounces off that sheet and comes back. And it's not like a big echo. Because if I don't have the sheet up, it's really, really bad actually. And then I don't have anything in my office. It's got like wood floors, and a desk, my bookshelf. It's not like a whole bunch of stuff in here. It's just really kind of chill. Another thing that my husband got when he updated my mic was this thing called a focus, right? And you just plug it in, and it seems really easy to me because I didn't do anything with it. I just plugged it in. And that's because the road does not have like a regular as like a you know, there's jacks that come on the back of like, a like a guitar like when there's big guitars like an amp. It's got like one of those connectors. I don't know the technical term. So don't ask me that's not what you're here for. But I'm just saying like literally all you need I know podcasters that use their. Their Mac headphones, their cell phone and then their closet to be a podcaster nobody sees you. Nobody cares, actually. I mean, like yes, I want to hear like clear sound. But as long as it's not like you're good. You know what I mean? Like as long as it's not like there's old like I can't hear you You're breaking up. I think that most people will be perfectly fine. With like a little bit of echo. Content is king. Really like if you have good content. Nobody actually cares what you sound like as long as it's not unlistenable. You know, so keep it easy. Keep it simple. In the military, we've got this term called Kiss. Keep it simple, stupid, because everyone military is dumb. Me included because I joined, right. But make it easy. Headphones, microphone, a recording tool. And even if you record on your phone, if you've got a laptop, you can download audacity and edit it there. There's tons of free videos to figure out how to edit in Audacity. It's really not that hard. I mean, I can do it. If I can do it, you can do it. You just like highlight, delete. Really, the key is to not mess up a lot. Because then you have less editing to do. That's the real key. That's the real key. Wow, that was so good.
