The principal assertion of this podcast episode is that the Bible unequivocally represents the Word of God, a notion that profoundly informs our Christian existence. Dr. David Spoon articulates the transformative power inherent in the scriptures, emphasizing that an authentic engagement with the Bible yields not merely intellectual understanding but a profound spiritual awakening. He elucidates that the act of reading the Word, coupled with faith, facilitates a remarkable metamorphosis within the believer, propelling them toward a deeper relationship with the Divine. Throughout our discussion, we delve into the implications of this understanding, exploring how the scriptures serve as a guiding light in a world often shrouded in darkness. Ultimately, our dialogue invites listeners to reflect on their own spiritual journeys and the lessons God imparts through His Word.
In this episode, Dr. David Spoon presents a rigorous discourse on the Bible as the unequivocal Word of God, asserting its paramount importance in the life of the believer. The discussion centers around the assertion that the Scriptures are not only historical documents but also living texts that actively engage the reader. Dr. Spoon draws from 2 Peter 1:19, emphasizing that the prophetic word is confirmed and should be regarded as a guiding light amid spiritual uncertainties.
Dr. Spoon articulates that the transformative power of the Bible is contingent upon the reader's faith. He posits that without the infusion of faith, the reader risks rendering the Scriptures inert and devoid of their intended impact. Throughout the episode, he invites listeners to adopt a posture of reverence and expectation when approaching the Word, encouraging them to recognize it as a divine communication from God that speaks to the heart and soul of humanity. This perspective is further enriched by personal reflections on how the Word has shaped his own life over the decades.
Moreover, the episode highlights the necessity for believers to engage in a reciprocal relationship with the Scriptures, characterized by prayer, contemplation, and community discussion. Dr. Spoon's earnest exhortations resonate with those seeking to deepen their faith and understanding of God's will, ultimately culminating in a call for listeners to actively participate in their spiritual growth through dedicated engagement with the Bible. This episode stands as a testament to the enduring relevance of the Scriptures and their essential role in the believer's journey towards spiritual maturity.

Speaker B:We don't know what we're doing.
Speaker B:We have no idea what's gonna happen and we kinda don't care.
Speaker B:But for the next few minutes, I wanna talk Jesus with you.
Speaker B:So here we go.
Speaker B:We're asking questions about living life as a Christian.
Speaker B:That thing right there.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:We have telephones.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:We have Internet working.
Speaker B:Praise the Lord.
Speaker B:All the apps are working.
Speaker B:Hallelujah.
Speaker B:My question to you this week is simply, what has God been teaching you this week?
Speaker B:Huh?
Speaker B:What?
Speaker B:Don't tell me he's not teaching you.
Speaker B:I know he's teaching you.
Speaker B:He's always teaching his kids.
Speaker B:He's always moving in our lives.
Speaker B:He's always doing marvelous things in our lives, to our lives, with our lives.
Speaker B:What has God been teaching you this week?
Speaker B:That is the question.
Speaker B:If you have an opinion, a comment, a thought, or your own question, hey, don't let it die of loneliness.
Speaker B:Just reach out and give us a call.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:0770.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B:Talking to Jammin Jacob, man, that's like a peaceful day, day and evening with no drama.
Speaker B:Thank you, David.
Speaker B:Happy Friday.
Speaker B:Happy Friday to you, my friend.
Speaker B:The entire starbase is at your command today as yesterday, and today you have been running it on your own.
Speaker B:How are things going?
Speaker B:So far so good, David.
Speaker B:Running the ship for being the captain of the ship.
Speaker B:There you go.
Speaker B:You just got it going.
Speaker B:Everything going well.
Speaker B:We got all the things running.
Speaker B:We have our apps that are working, we have our Internet that's working.
Speaker B:We have our streaming services working, our phones are working, we hope.
Speaker B:And then everything else that we know of is working.
Speaker B:Thus far, that's pretty good.
Speaker B:There it is.
Speaker B:So let's keep that in the forefront of our mind.
Speaker B:Besides reaching out by telephone.
Speaker B:I know it's a telephone.
Speaker B:It's okay.
Speaker B:It probably won't hurt you.
Speaker B:Besides doing that, you can also text.
Speaker B:We find that to be fun for many people.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:Just a little slower for those who are going, man, that guy talks fast.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B:You can also send an email.
Speaker B:Davidemustincrease.org that's David, my name at a with a circle.
Speaker B:He must increase from John 3, 30.
Speaker B:He must increase.
Speaker B:I must decrease.org, because we're a nonprofit corporation, so you can get in touch with us those ways.
Speaker B:The real question is, why?
Speaker B:Why, Dave?
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:Why would we get in touch with you?
Speaker B:Very good question.
Speaker B:Number one, you're as crazy as I am.
Speaker B:Number two, maybe you've got a praise report.
Speaker B:Maybe you've got something the Lord has done that's really been a blessing for you and you want to share it.
Speaker B:And let me tell you why it's important to share praise reports, testimonies.
Speaker B:Number one, they reinforce it in your own life when you speak it.
Speaker B:Which is why Jesus told the guy in the garden after he delivered him, go tell everybody what the Lord has done.
Speaker B:Not only does that reinforce it in his life, but it also blesses other people.
Speaker B:Because the Bible says that people marveled when they heard about it.
Speaker B:In addition to that, it brings glory to God.
Speaker B:In Isaiah 43.
Speaker B:7, we were created to bring glory to God.
Speaker B:That's What a testimony, praise report does, reinforces it in your own life, blesses other people, honors God.
Speaker B:We also really encourage you to bring your prayer requests.
Speaker B:We're gonna be praying for Angelina and Keith, both kind of in the same situation.
Speaker B:We praying for them in a little bit.
Speaker B:We're also gonna be praying for Cordelia.
Speaker B:Not feeling good.
Speaker B:Maybe doing a little better today, but not good enough as well.
Speaker B:If you guys know me at all.
Speaker B:The original four Jewish boys from Detroit, Billy, Bruce, Larry and myself.
Speaker B:Bruce had a minor operation or a major operation, is doing better, but is still having a hard time recovering.
Speaker B:We want to pray for Bruce as well.
Speaker B:So we got four people we're definitely praying for.
Speaker B:But prayer can be geared towards physical things.
Speaker B:It can be financial things, it can be situational things, relationship things.
Speaker B:It could be any of those things.
Speaker B:I'll just give you a quick example.
Speaker B:And I mentioned this before.
Speaker B:I was praying for somebody.
Speaker B:I haven't heard from them for a while.
Speaker B:Prayed for them.
Speaker B:I haven't heard from them for almost two months.
Speaker B:And that very day that I prayed, I heard from them.
Speaker B:It's like, wow, isn't that just phenomenal?
Speaker B:I was praying for my son.
Speaker B:He's going on a trip.
Speaker B:We're going to be watching the grandkids.
Speaker B:He's going on a trip.
Speaker B:Guess what?
Speaker B:Because him and Ashley didn't have a passport, they had to do it at the last minute.
Speaker B:They got the passport.
Speaker B:They just didn't know if they were going to receive it in time.
Speaker B:We were praying for them.
Speaker B:They received it this morning.
Speaker B:They'll be leaving tomorrow morning.
Speaker B:How nice is that?
Speaker B:It could be something like that.
Speaker B:It could be something that's good that you're looking for.
Speaker B:It could be something you're struggling with.
Speaker B:It could be something that's positive with something that's difficult.
Speaker B:That doesn't matter.
Speaker B:Because what prayer does is aligns us with the Lord.
Speaker B:It puts us in the position where we recognize Him.
Speaker B:Remember what Jesus prayed.
Speaker B:Abba.
Speaker B:Father, and then the declaration.
Speaker B:You can do anything.
Speaker B:Acknowledging and speaking of the ability that God has the faith that we have that he can do all things.
Speaker B:Jesus then gave his petition, let this cup pass from me.
Speaker B:Then his submission, nevertheless, not mine, but thy will be done.
Speaker B:And that's what we do.
Speaker B:We do that because God answers prayers for people that don't think he answers prayers.
Speaker B:They don't pray, and then they don't get an answer to prayer.
Speaker B:That's kind of how that works.
Speaker B:Additionally, it could just be.
Speaker B:You can share something that's on Your heart, something that's on your mind, just really kind of moving on you, blessing you, helping you.
Speaker B:Our goal, our bent, our slant is to encourage one another to draw closer to the Lord as we see the day of the return of Jesus Christ getting closer and closer.
Speaker B:And yes, we recognize some people don't believe that, but we're not them.
Speaker B:We want them to believe, but we're not going to unbelieve to make them happy.
Speaker B:Right?
Speaker B:I mean, come on, nobody else has a heaven to put you in.
Speaker B:I want to go there hanging out with the Lord every day, dancing on streets of gold.
Speaker B:So we're going to open up and we're going to do some prayer.
Speaker B:So I want you to kind of take your faith and you put it with my faith.
Speaker B:We'll put all our faith together.
Speaker B:We're going to pray for a few different people.
Speaker B:Just hang in there with me.
Speaker B:And then we've got a lesson that will be, oh, I would say lights out, fantastic.
Speaker B:And it's fair enough to say that's just way past me and my ability to teach, but it is really, really good material.
Speaker B:We'll get to that in a moment.
Speaker B:Let's pray.
Speaker B:First Father, we come before you right now in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Speaker B:Thank you, Jesus, for everything you have done, everything you are doing and everything you will do.
Speaker B:And thank you for interceding for us.
Speaker B:We need it and you know that.
Speaker B:Thank you for your graciousness.
Speaker B:And Heavenly Father, we petition you right now for people that are our family, our brothers, our sisters, and we are lifting them up before you.
Speaker B:So first Lord, we pray for Cordelia because, Lord, she's a dear sister, but she's just getting on the backside.
Speaker B:Just starting to get over some of that cold flu, yuck stuff that's really been going on.
Speaker B:Lord, accelerate for her, accelerate the healing process.
Speaker B:She's going through the little aches and pains.
Speaker B:Just move her along at a great speed so that she can recover quickly.
Speaker B:You created the body, you can restore the body.
Speaker B:And, Lord, we lift that same kind of prayer up for Bruce, who had a surgery and is trying to make that recovery, going through different challenges in his recovery, that you would bless him with encouragement, with the spirit of faith and confidence, and you would bring your touch into his body.
Speaker B:I've known him my whole Christian walk and longer, and I pray you would bless my brother and my brother in the Lord and give him great favor.
Speaker B:And Father, we lift up right now to you, Keith and Angelina, both kind of in that same place.
Speaker B:And we say the same thing, Lord, we're looking for answers from you.
Speaker B:We don't own the time a person makes that departure.
Speaker B:You tell us to count the days, our days.
Speaker B:There's an appointment unto man to once die, and then the judgment.
Speaker B:And we lift both of these people up to you and ask for your graciousness and your mercy on them and on their family.
Speaker B:Both ready to see you face to face.
Speaker B:Have mercy in this situation.
Speaker B:Not, though.
Speaker B:Not our will be done, but your will be done as we surrender it to you.
Speaker B:And we trust you that everything you allow has a perfect plan connected to it, because you are that good to us.
Speaker B:We pray this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Speaker B:Amen and Amen.
Speaker B:Okay, that is how we start the show.
Speaker B:That's how we get things going around here.
Speaker B:But don't go anywhere, because right now we're going to jump into a phenomenal portion of scripture.
Speaker B:For those that don't know, we are in second Peter.
Speaker B:We are in second Peter, chapter one.
Speaker B:We are in second Peter, Chapter one, verse 19.
Speaker B:Oh my.
Speaker B:You better hold on.
Speaker B:That's all I'm going to say.
Speaker B:Got to hold on.
Speaker B:That's all I'm saying.
Speaker B:Hold on.
Speaker B:Second Peter, chapter one, verse 19.
Speaker B:Here is what the apostle wrote.
Speaker B:With help from the Holy Spirit.
Speaker B:We also have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt.
Speaker B:And you would do well to pay attention to it as a lamp shining in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.
Speaker B:It's amazing how one verse has so much.
Speaker B:It's just so much power.
Speaker B:And here's the thing I need you to catch.
Speaker B:This is really important for us.
Speaker B:Weirdo Bible believing, born again Christians, believing that God created the universe.
Speaker B:And that dude can write a book.
Speaker B:Here's the big, big thing.
Speaker B:As we're plunging into the book of 2 Peter and picking it up at chapter 1, verse 19.
Speaker B:The brash apostle says we have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt.
Speaker B:There is something that takes place for the Christian.
Speaker B:When we begin to understand that the word of God is actually the word of God.
Speaker B:There is something phenomenal that takes place in the life of a Christian, in the walk of a Christian, in the journey of the Christian.
Speaker B:When you know that what you are reading is the word of God, something amazing takes place inside of us.
Speaker B:Many people understand that when you are born again, it is not just from an academic point of view, but that you are all of a sudden being born again, plunged into the realm of the Spiritual.
Speaker B:And you pick up the Word of God, the Bible, and you read it and you're like going, it speaks and it changes your heart and mind.
Speaker B:Remember that in the early days.
Speaker B:There's no reason it can't keep going.
Speaker B:When people say, that's just how the honeymoon is.
Speaker B:Baloney.
Speaker B:I've been doing it for 46 plus years.
Speaker B:I'm getting more in my Bible reading time now than in 45 and a half prior.
Speaker B:The word of God is alive.
Speaker B:Hebrews 4:12 says, and the breath of God is in every scripture because all scripture, 2nd Timothy 3:16, is God breathed.
Speaker B:And the breath that went into Adam is the breath that goes into that book.
Speaker B:And when you read that book, that breath falls upon you and something happens, Something transforms, something changes you.
Speaker B:I guess we can get a better understanding on why.
Speaker B:One of the titles of Jesus Christ is the Word of God.
Speaker B:And there's something that happens when the Christian jumps into the Word and we understand this is God's word.
Speaker B:His ability, by the way, his ability to communicate exceeds man's basic understanding.
Speaker B:I can't tell you how many people have told me or tried to tell me.
Speaker B:I should say that only the way they perceive it is the way it should be.
Speaker B:It's so ridiculous.
Speaker B:It's so absurd.
Speaker B:God's ability to communicate to mankind exceeds man's basic understanding.
Speaker B:As God can use everything and anything he wants to communicate.
Speaker B:His heart, his mind, his desire.
Speaker B:He used a donkey to rebuke a prophet.
Speaker B:I'm pretty sure God can do what he wants.
Speaker B:He spoke and the universe was created.
Speaker B:There was no matter, no energy.
Speaker B:And God spoke into existence a universe.
Speaker B:Is it the only universe?
Speaker B:Who knows?
Speaker B:Who cares?
Speaker B:One thing we know, he spoke universe created.
Speaker B:He spoke mankind.
Speaker B:He spoke planet Earth.
Speaker B:I mean, it's just like what the power of God's word to create the Earth, the planet.
Speaker B:I mean, look at the planet.
Speaker B:It's pretty amazing, right?
Speaker B:God spoke and created the sun.
Speaker B:You can take a million earths and put it in the sun.
Speaker B:That's how big it is.
Speaker B:That came from God's mouth, His Word.
Speaker B:And just as a side note, because, you know, this stuff irritates me to no end for, for those that are struggling.
Speaker B:Well, it only has to be this translation.
Speaker B:Please go to the bank, take out a loan and buy a clue.
Speaker B:Because Jesus used a secondary translation 92% of the time when he taught.
Speaker B:He used the septuagint 92% of the time.
Speaker B:That wasn't the Hebrew Old Testament, it was the Greek translated Old Testament.
Speaker B:So Sit down and relax.
Speaker B:God has an ability to communicate his message in such powerful ways.
Speaker B:And if your God's not bigger than a translation, then your God is teeny weeny compared to mine.
Speaker B:How about that?
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker B:Dave.
Speaker B:Yeah.
Speaker B:Here's why I want you to know that I got saved through somebody using the Good News Bible.
Speaker B:Hey, worked for me.
Speaker B:Then I fell in love with the King James Bible.
Speaker B:Hey, worked for me.
Speaker B:I grew.
Speaker B:Then I got into the new American Standard, then the new King James, then I got into the Phillips Bible, then I got into this Bible.
Speaker B:And so far it's about 40 plus different translations.
Speaker B:Why?
Speaker B:It's awesome because it's the breath of God, it's the word of God and it transforms people because the Holy Spirit is making those words alive inside you.
Speaker B:And I, sometimes we come and we read and it's like it's a chore.
Speaker B:I was telling Noel today my devotional was Matthew 2, 5, 15.
Speaker B:I think I've read it almost 200 times.
Speaker B:I'm serious.
Speaker B:Especially Matthew, certainly 150 north of 150.
Speaker B:I found out something today I never saw before.
Speaker B:Think.
Speaker B:How is that possible?
Speaker B:Only God can do that, you understand?
Speaker B:And so what Peter says is we have the word of the prophets as confirmed beyond doubt.
Speaker B:When you go into the Word of God and you read the Word of God and you process the word of God and you don't mix it with faith, you're destroying what God is trying to do in your own life.
Speaker B:You're shutting it down yourself.
Speaker B:Because the Word of God has to be mixed with faith.
Speaker B:And that faith resonates and God blesses it and.
Speaker B:And the Holy Spirit makes it vibrant.
Speaker B:Stop reading that book like it's some dumb book.
Speaker B:I know people don't get it.
Speaker B:I know Hollywood thinks it's a joke.
Speaker B:I understand the media mocks.
Speaker B:I get it that academics are so superior that they think we're just stupid.
Speaker B:I understand.
Speaker B:I don't care.
Speaker B:Because they don't have anything to offer me.
Speaker B:And God has eternal life.
Speaker B:And let's see what somebody who acts thinks or what God thinks.
Speaker B:Hmm.
Speaker B:Let's see if I can make that decision.
Speaker B:Hmm.
Speaker B:Oh, wait.
Speaker B:Decision made.
Speaker B:Thanks.
Speaker B:Alright, take a deep breath as we do our first trivia question.
Speaker B:I thought you guys might like some of that.
Speaker B:Here it is.
Speaker B:Who came forth out of the grave when Jesus called him?
Speaker B:According to the Gospel of John, chapter 11, verse 43.
Speaker B:Who came forth out of the grave when Jesus called him?
Speaker B:John, chapter 11, verse 43.
Speaker B:If you think you know, well, that is awesome.
Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B: -: Speaker B:Or you can send an email.
Speaker B: ve when Jesus called him John: Speaker B:Before we do anything else, we're sending up to the website.
Speaker B:It's pretty simple.
Speaker B:I think on Monday that will be our six year anniversary.
Speaker B:We'd like to see a seventh year doing the show.
Speaker B:That can only happen if people who are participating and listening, being blessed, are able to give because we exist off the donations of our listeners.
Speaker B:That's how it goes.
Speaker B:Can't help it, can't change it.
Speaker B:That's why we're a nonprofit corporation.
Speaker B:You give, you're not getting a Lamborghini.
Speaker B:I'm not going to promise you a donut, not even a whistle.
Speaker B:You get a receipt at the end of the year.
Speaker B:The scripture that we're going to use, people are like, wow, that's really direct.
Speaker B:Yep.
Speaker B:Give generously to the needy and do not let your heart be grieved when you do so.
Speaker B:And because of this, the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hand.
Speaker B:Wow.
Speaker B:Gotta love that.
Speaker B:That's pretty good, right?
Speaker B:That's a pretty good promise.
Speaker B:Check it out in the giving opportunity plus other stuff.
Speaker B:Very cool other stuff at hemustincrease.org prayer request.
Speaker B:Hemostincrease.org praise report.
Speaker B:Hemostincrease.org looking to give to this ministry.
Speaker B:Hemustincrease.org confused by what's happening right now.
Speaker B:Hemustincrease.org hemustincrease.org you know, I think if the earth went out of rotation and then everybody played that song in their little ear things, earbuds, everybody would be, well, it's not so bad.
Speaker B:That's how it seems to me.
Speaker B:It's the ultimate Cheer up song.
Speaker B:Cheer it up.
Speaker B:Oh, no.
Speaker B:We're heading for absolute destruction.
Speaker B:Oh, boy.
Speaker B:All right, we do have somebody on the line.
Speaker B:Let's go ahead and send them on through.
Speaker B:Knock knock.
Speaker B:This is David.
Speaker B:Who am I talking to?
Speaker A:Dr.
Speaker A:Spoon, this is Fred.
Speaker A:How you doing today?
Speaker B:I'm doing wonderful, Fred.
Speaker B:How are you doing?
Speaker A:Doing fine, sir.
Speaker B:All right, you ready for the triv, my brother?
Speaker A:I think so.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:Who came forth out of the grave when Jesus called him according to John, chapter 11, verse 43.
Speaker A:You know, David, I was glad that he spake specifically and used Lazarus name because if he would have just said get up, we would have had a general resurrection.
Speaker A:But it was Nazareth that is came forth after.
Speaker B:That is correct, sir, and you absolutely make a brilliant point.
Speaker B:Jesus specifically had to say Lazarus because the other people in the grave in that area when he said, you know, come forth, everyone.
Speaker B:I've been flying up being like, baby, wait a minute, you've been gone for 200 years.
Speaker B:What are you doing here?
Speaker A:That's absolutely right.
Speaker A:So, David, I have a quick question for you.
Speaker A:I've been trying and you know, it takes forever in a day to teach on.
Speaker A:Teach on the doctor of eschatology.
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker A:But I was in chapter nine and we had like a zoom session and I got a little stumped on Revelation 9 about the, you know, the locusts having hair of women and faces of men.
Speaker A:In your teaching, what have you discovered on that?
Speaker A:What does that really mean?
Speaker A:What's, what's the significance of that?
Speaker B:The idea behind that, when you have.
Speaker B:You're talking about angels that have the faces of men, of people, correct?
Speaker B:Is that what you mean?
Speaker B:Yes.
Speaker B:So the big key in that is understanding that God does that so that we can connect or identify.
Speaker B:In other words, the reason that God would make something like that is what we would call familiarity.
Speaker B:So that we can go, oh, oh, oh.
Speaker B:Because it perhaps in their other form, whatever form it is, we'd all be going, what is that?
Speaker B:You know, it's just like.
Speaker B:It's kind of like you might be flipping out in the other direction.
Speaker B:There's a familiarity concept that talks about God doing things that we can connect to while we're made in his image.
Speaker B:There are still many things in God, in the kingdom of God, in the hosts of heaven, that are way past us.
Speaker B:And Jesus said, if I tell you of earthly things and you can't get that, how am I ever going to tell you about heavenly things?
Speaker B:So sometimes those things come for the purpose of connectability and for us to be able to receive and kind of touch, touch to it.
Speaker B:Otherwise it just goes right past us as we're sitting there going, what was that?
Speaker B:That's one of the.
Speaker A:So there's not a specific something specific like what the hell means this and the face means that.
Speaker A:It's just like you just explained.
Speaker A:It should be explained like that as opposed to trans.
Speaker A:Definitively say the hell means this and the face means this.
Speaker B:Yeah, you're exact.
Speaker B:Everybody's looking for over it's almost like a parable.
Speaker B:Everybody's looking for over.
Speaker B:Over explanation.
Speaker B:It's not that complex.
Speaker B:Don't make it harder.
Speaker B:If you want to get into that and enjoy it, that's cool.
Speaker B:But don't make it harder for everybody around you.
Speaker B:You know what I'm saying?
Speaker B:Keep it simple and apply.
Speaker A:I love the way you put that.
Speaker A:And that's what I use, sir.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:Brilliant.
Speaker B:Excellent job, my brother.
Speaker B:And you are wonderful.
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker B:And have an awesome, awesome weekend.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker A:Thank you.
Speaker A:You too, sir.
Speaker B:All right.
Speaker B:God bless, bro.
Speaker A:Bye.
Speaker B:All right, folks, we're going to take a short break and then come back.
Speaker B:You're listening to the David Spoon Experience right here on Kaam 770, the truth station air in Texas.
Speaker B:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker B:Galatians, chapter 5, verse 1.
Speaker B:This is one of the first verses in my Christian faith that I learned, which is, you know, you don't think about it, but when I first became a Christian, people would share this verse with me.
Speaker B:I didn't know why.
Speaker B:I was going to find out why, because God was going to set me free from a lot of drug use.
Speaker B:But I didn't know then what was going on.
Speaker B:I was like, oh, I keep hearing this verse.
Speaker B:Galatians 5:1.
Speaker B:The freedom for freedom.
Speaker B:Christ has set us free.
Speaker B:Stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.
Speaker B:So now in our society, you say the word slavery and people start going and then everybody starts freaking out.
Speaker B:You know what?
Speaker B:We're never going to change what the gospel is.
Speaker B:And the gospel is the reality, the truth.
Speaker B:We're not going to alter for culture.
Speaker B:We're not going to say it differently.
Speaker B:So people aren't offended.
Speaker B:If you're offended, turn the radio off.
Speaker B:Okay?
Speaker B:That's your answer.
Speaker B:You got fingers, Use them.
Speaker B:Here's our you got the ability to turn it on.
Speaker B:You got the ability to turn it off.
Speaker B:Here's the bottom line.
Speaker B:Every one of us, Every one of us before Jesus Christ was in bondage to sin.
Speaker B:Every one of us.
Speaker B:Now that we are in Jesus Christ, we are free from the penalty of that sin.
Speaker B:And the Lord is working in us the process to overcome that sin.
Speaker B:Practically.
Speaker B:We've talked about it multiple times.
Speaker B:You understand salvation from a little bit of a smart, not smart, multiple scripture point of view.
Speaker B:Scriptures talk about salvation being past tense.
Speaker B:Scripture talks about salvation being present tense, and Scripture talks about salvation being future tense.
Speaker B:The only way that could happen is if.
Speaker B:Watch this.
Speaker B:Salvation is past tense, present tense, and future tense.
Speaker B:The only way it can happen is because that's what it says.
Speaker B:And so in that, we need to understand that from the past point of view, we are free from the penalty of sin.
Speaker B:Yay.
Speaker B:Currently, we're going through what is called sanctification, where we're being delivered.
Speaker B:We're delivered from the power of sin, and we're learning in our own lives.
Speaker B:We don't have to live for sin.
Speaker B:And then eventually, when we're with the Lord forever and ever, we will be free from the presence of sin, and there won't be any evil, any bad, any yucky.
Speaker B:Okay, cool.
Speaker B:In the meantime, while the justification, while the penalty for sin is done, while the freedom is there, the sanctification process is the one where he makes you look like Jesus now that he's pronounced you to be like Jesus.
Speaker B:And that's the one you got to fight through.
Speaker B:That's the one that you have to go, you know what?
Speaker B:I am free.
Speaker B:I just do not have to do that.
Speaker B:I don't have to.
Speaker B:That, therefore, becomes a responsibility, because the Scripture says, stand firm, therefore, and do not submit again to the yoke of slavery.
Speaker B:Which means that you can, but if you do, it will be your choice.
Speaker B:The David Spoon experience.
