Join me as we read (and pick apart) Revelation, chapter five. God bless you, family.

Transcripts

Speaker:

All right, everyone.

2

:

Good morning, and welcome back to

another episode of I Can't, He Can.

3

:

I'm your host, Sarai, and we

are here again for another

4

:

episode of the Sound Mind series.

5

:

We're continuing in the Book

of Revelation, chapter 5.

6

:

Now, this chapter, as every other one

that I have read so far, honestly just

7

:

keeps giving more and more detail.

8

:

And just so that you guys know, when

I'm reading, I actually have pen and

9

:

paper, and if there's something that

sticks out to me, I'm actually rewriting

10

:

the verse on my notebook in my own way.

11

:

And that helps me so much because

even though, you know, realistically

12

:

speaking, you can't do that for every

single Bible verse in the Bible.

13

:

You can't do that.

14

:

It's, I mean, how many are there?

15

:

There's so many, right?

16

:

But in this book in particular, I'm

studying it that way just because I feel

17

:

like it's going to sink in a lot more.

18

:

Now, we don't always have time to do

that, but in my opinion, for a book as

19

:

detailed and as important as Revelation,

I think for me, personally, so that I can

20

:

digest it and, and just, you know, really

take in all of the information, I really

21

:

think that that's how I have to study it.

22

:

So that's what I've been doing.

23

:

I do still have my little

notes in the Bible itself.

24

:

However, most of my notes are on

the notebook, pen and paper, and I

25

:

just explain to myself what I read.

26

:

But, with that said, I'm gonna

go ahead and begin reading.

27

:

It's a very short chapter.

28

:

There's only 14 verses, but nonetheless,

there's a lot of detail that's provided

29

:

to us and I just, I really wanna

just take my time through this book.

30

:

So I'm gonna go ahead and begin reading.

31

:

Verse one: And I saw in the right

hand of Him who sat on the throne

32

:

a scroll written inside and on

the back, sealed with seven seals.

33

:

Verse two: Then I saw a strong

angel proclaiming with a loud

34

:

voice, "Who is worthy to open the

scroll, and to loose its seals?"

35

:

Verse three: And no one in heaven or

on earth or under the earth was able

36

:

to open the scroll, or to look at it.

37

:

Verse four: So I wept much, because

no one was found worthy to open and

38

:

read the scroll, or to look at it.

39

:

Verse five: But one of the

elders said to me, "Do not weep.

40

:

Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,

the Root of David, has prevailed to open

41

:

the scroll and to loose its seven seals."

42

:

Verse six: And I looked, and behold, in

the midst of the throne and of the four

43

:

living creatures, and in the midst of

the elders, stood a Lamb as though it

44

:

had been slain, having seven horns and

seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits

45

:

of God sent out into all the earth.

46

:

Verse seven: Then He came and

took the scroll out of the hand

47

:

of Him who sat on the throne.

48

:

Verse eight.

49

:

Now when he had taken the scroll,

the four living creatures and the

50

:

twenty-four elders fell down before

the Lamb, each having a harp, and a

51

:

golden bowl full of incense, which

are the prayers of the saints.

52

:

Verse nine.

53

:

And they sang a new song, saying,

"You are worthy to take the scroll,

54

:

and to open its seals, for you

were slain, and have redeemed us to

55

:

God by your blood out of the tribe

and tongue and people and nation."

56

:

Verse 10.

57

:

"And have made us kings and priests to

our God, and we shall reign on earth."

58

:

Verse 11.

59

:

Then I looked, and I heard the voice

of many angels around the throne, the

60

:

living creatures and the elders, and the

numbers of them was ten thousands times

61

:

ten thousands, and thousands of thousands.

62

:

Verse 12.

63

:

Saying with a loud voice, "Worthy is

the Lamb who was slain to receive power

64

:

and riches and wisdom, and strength

and honor and glory and blessing."

65

:

Verse 13.

66

:

And every creature which is in heaven and

on the earth and under earth, and such as

67

:

are in the sea, and all that are in them,

I heard saying, "Blessing and honor and

68

:

glory and power be to him who sits on the

throne, and to the Lamb forever and ever."

69

:

Verse 14.

70

:

Then the four living

creatures said, "Amen."

71

:

And the twenty-four elders fell down and

worshiped him who lives forever and ever.

72

:

Now, I wanted to read that slowly

because there were a few parts in

73

:

here as I was reading that really

just stuck out to me in a way that

74

:

You wouldn't just look at something

you read and just pass by it.

75

:

Immediately when I read those

things, I just, I jotted it down

76

:

and it like even to, to the moment

now I'm looking at it again.

77

:

I was like, oh, no wonder

it stuck out to me.

78

:

But anyway, I want to go over a few

things that I have here in my Bible.

79

:

I know it was all pretty much

straightforward, but I do want to point

80

:

out the things that stuck out to me.

81

:

So in the very first verse, I know

that there are some people that may get

82

:

confused when in the Bible it says him.

83

:

So is it referring to God

or is it referring to Jesus?

84

:

So sometimes it's important to just

be sure to divide in your mind who

85

:

it is that they're speaking about.

86

:

So in verse one, it says, and I saw in the

right hand of him who sat on the throne.

87

:

We already know that Jesus is in heaven

at this point and he's seen as the lamb.

88

:

But in this case, God is the one that's

sitting on the throne at this time.

89

:

So when you read that,

it's talking about God.

90

:

And I saw in the right hand of him who

sat on the throne, a scroll written inside

91

:

and on the back sealed with seven seals.

92

:

So in this case, you're imagining God

sitting on the throne, holding that

93

:

seal, excuse me, holding that scroll

that has the written seven seals on them.

94

:

Moving on to-- Sorry, I was, like,

looking at my little doodles here.

95

:

so in verse two, I actually have a

few things written down here as well.

96

:

"Then I saw a strong angel proclaiming

with a loud voice, 'Who is worthy to

97

:

open the scroll and to loose its seals?'"

98

:

So I have here, I have, like, a

little arrow that says, "Questions.

99

:

Who can open the scroll?"

100

:

So this angel, and it's

specifying a strong angel.

101

:

I haven't looked into,

any literature or any…

102

:

I've just-- I've tried to, like,

not really Google that many things,

103

:

you know, unless it's extremely

necessary for me to understand, like,

104

:

kinda like the Nicolaitans before

that I wanted to know who they were.

105

:

So it's talking about a strong angel,

and I didn't really look in to see what

106

:

angel that could be based on the Bible.

107

:

I don't think it's very relevant

at the moment, but I did underline

108

:

it because this particular angel is

questioning who can open the seal.

109

:

And, excuse me, who can open the scroll.

110

:

And that tells me that not even the

angels who live amongst God know.

111

:

And that's crazy because if Jesus came

down, and I hadn't even-- I didn't

112

:

even have this written down, I just

had questions who opens the scroll.

113

:

But I just thought of this now, that

if Jesus walked on Earth, right?

114

:

God sent us His only begotten Son, and

He was crucified, and He resurrected on

115

:

the third day, and He is now in Heaven.

116

:

He forgave us all of our sins.

117

:

I'm thinking now, like, wouldn't the

angels already know what's going on?

118

:

Wouldn't the angels already know that

this- person who is godly as well, who

119

:

was human, who died and is now in heaven

again, wouldn't they know that he is

120

:

the only one that can open the seals?

121

:

So if you think about that,

and you're reading the Book of

122

:

Revelation, these are all things

that are being revealed to John.

123

:

And imagine, it's just, it's

such a crazy scenario to me now

124

:

that I'm really thinking about

it because this is prophetic.

125

:

It's being given to John,

right, as a vision from Jesus.

126

:

Jesus is the one that is allowing

him to have all of these visions.

127

:

So in the visions, the angels

are asking, and they don't know.

128

:

So the visions happened.

129

:

They were written down.

130

:

We know it, but somehow in this

time when it's happening, it's

131

:

still not known to the angels.

132

:

So I guess I mean to say, because

it, you know, kind of going in,

133

:

maybe going in circles here, but if

you think about it, in heaven right

134

:

now, the angels still don't know

this very thing that we're reading.

135

:

Does that make sense?

136

:

I mean, they could know.

137

:

Who knows?

138

:

Maybe at the time they didn't, but

this is prophetic, so technically

139

:

they're not aware that Jesus is the one

that's going to open the scroll until

140

:

that very moment happens in heaven.

141

:

So, ugh, man, it's just…

142

:

You see, things like this are

just so crazy to think Because

143

:

how could they not know?

144

:

We have this here already, but are

they just living obliviously in heaven?

145

:

Like, it's y- it's just so

many questions that you have.

146

:

One day we will eventually know all

of this, but I just thought of that

147

:

now, and that's, that's so curious.

148

:

Like, it's written here for us.

149

:

It was given as, prophetic dreams

and, and visions to, to John, and then

150

:

they still didn't know at the time

when it was happening in the future.

151

:

'Cause remember, these

visions are in the future.

152

:

But anyway, I digress, 'cause I'm

probably driving you guys crazy with that.

153

:

So the next verse is verse

three, and this one I also just

154

:

was kind of amazed because…

155

:

Well, I'll explain to you.

156

:

Let's see.

157

:

"And no one in heaven or on the

earth or under the earth was able to

158

:

open the scroll or to look at it."

159

:

So no one, essentially, how it says

after in verse four, is found worthy

160

:

of even looking at the scroll.

161

:

And what I found most peculiar here

was that in the middle of verse

162

:

three it says, "or under the earth."

163

:

My conspiracy theorist brain, and I've

said that before, so I do listen to a

164

:

lot of different podcasts and not that

I believe in conspiracies, I just…

165

:

I believe in just finding truth, right?

166

:

So when I'm reading this, it takes

me back to thinking of all the videos

167

:

and things that I've seen on the

firmament and the earth being flat.

168

:

Now, the more that I read things in the

Bible, not to say that I'm, you know,

169

:

kooky or I want you guys to think I'm

kooky about, you know, these things.

170

:

I don't…

171

:

I really try to not focus on it, but I do

find it peculiar that here in the Bible,

172

:

which to me is the word of truth, it says

that, "No one in heaven," meaning above

173

:

Or on the earth, meaning here where we

are, or under the earth, so below us, was

174

:

able to open the scroll or to look at it.

175

:

Now, I've seen so many depictions

of heaven, earth, and hell, and

176

:

it's just-- it's always layered.

177

:

It's always layered.

178

:

And I don't know, it just doesn't

make sense to me, honestly.

179

:

I'm just kind of ranting here about this,

but it doesn't make sense to me that if

180

:

there is a firmament, that the Earth is

completely round and we're surrounded by

181

:

that, because there is something below us.

182

:

So if you question it,

the Earth is round, right?

183

:

Quotations, the globe.

184

:

but if you think about it,

what would be beneath us?

185

:

Hell.

186

:

Now, is that in the center?

187

:

But then that means that on the other side

of the Earth, then there's more Earth.

188

:

It just doesn't make sense to me.

189

:

So I thought that was very peculiar when

I was reading it again, because at the

190

:

end of the day Everything that has been

seen as a conspiracy or things that are

191

:

not real and, you know, the fact that

some versions of the Bible have talk

192

:

of the firmament completely removed,

all those things lead me to believe

193

:

that there's a lot of truth to it.

194

:

so I'll just leave that right there.

195

:

Now, I'm moving on to verse five.

196

:

This one says, "But one of the

elders said to me, 'Do not weep.

197

:

Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,

the Root of David, has prevailed to open

198

:

the scroll and to loose its seven seals.'"

199

:

Now, I just wanted to go over this because

I have done on YouVersion, some of the

200

:

Bible plans that talks about the names

of God, different names for Jesus, and

201

:

I had never heard of the Root of David.

202

:

That one is in-- has the first

letter in capital, so it's obviously

203

:

referring to Jesus, and I had never

heard of Him being called the Root.

204

:

So I thought that was very

interesting, and I wanted to

205

:

point that out to you as well.

206

:

Now, in verse six, I'm going to read here.

207

:

let me see.

208

:

Oh, it has a little

number one and a letter A.

209

:

Okay, so sometimes, you know,

scripture has the little A, B,

210

:

C if it's a very long verse.

211

:

In this case, it doesn't have

that, at the very beginning.

212

:

It has it after for some reason.

213

:

But anyway, my point is that I circled

a word that was very visual to me.

214

:

So it says, "And I looked, and

behold, in the midst of the throne

215

:

and of the four living creatures and

in the midst of the elders stood a

216

:

Lamb as though It had been slain."

217

:

I'm gonna pause right there.

218

:

So if you're looking at an image of a

throne where the elders are surrounding

219

:

it, the four creatures that we discussed

that were full of eyes and each one

220

:

had a different kind of head, if you're

envisioning that, and you're seeing

221

:

now that there's a lamb, a regular lamb

obviously is an animal, has four legs.

222

:

But this one, saying that it stood.

223

:

It says, "Stood a Lamb as

though It had been slain."

224

:

So your mind can just go everywhere and

say, "Okay, it's a lamb, but is it human?

225

:

But is it animal 'cause it stood?"

226

:

You know, in real life, a lamb

is not actually gonna stand up.

227

:

Maybe it is.

228

:

Maybe they're just saying it stood and a

lamb is there on its four legs standing.

229

:

But I just try to imagine

it in a very literal way.

230

:

And then verse seven.

231

:

This is the part, again, where

it's important to know if it's

232

:

talking about Jesus or God.

233

:

So I s- I circled both he and him, and

I'm gonna explain who's who in this case.

234

:

Verse seven: Then He came and

took the scroll out of the right

235

:

hand of Him who sat on the throne.

236

:

And again, just like verse one, him

is referring to God who is sitting on

237

:

the throne, and he is Jesus that came

and took the scroll out of the right

238

:

hand of Him who sat on the throne.

239

:

So just wanted to clear that up

because sometimes the hes and the

240

:

hims can all just kinda be convoluted

together, and it's important to

241

:

know who they are talking about.

242

:

Now, verse nine is the verse where

they're, th- where it's being explained

243

:

here that there's a new song that the

saints and the elders were singing.

244

:

And towards verse 10, so it's the last

part of verse nine and verse 10, it says,

245

:

"Out of every tribe and tongue and people

and nation," and then verse 10 says, "And

246

:

have made us kings and priests to our

God, and we shall reign on the earth."

247

:

So remember, I've mentioned it before,

that when we're reading the Bible, even

248

:

as I've learned in my church with my

pastor, there are things that are for us.

249

:

There are things that are not for us.

250

:

So it's very important that when

we're reading, we understand that

251

:

we're not all going to be kings.

252

:

We're not all going to be priests.

253

:

We are the body of Christ.

254

:

If you are not Jewish, if you're not of

the, Israelites from this time, like,

255

:

if your family history is not Jew as

the, as the Bible is talking about,

256

:

when you have your judgment day and

you are in heaven before God, you're

257

:

not going to be a king or a priest.

258

:

You're not gonna be any of that.

259

:

You are just going to be a

part of the body of Christ, and

260

:

there's nothing wrong with that.

261

:

Like, I'd rather that over anything else

and just be in heaven with God and with

262

:

Jesus and live amongst him in glory.

263

:

so who cares about titles?

264

:

So I say all of that to say that

when you're reading this, that

265

:

is what they're talking about.

266

:

The elders and the saints that are

amongst the Lamb, Jesus, and him

267

:

who is sitting on the throne, God.

268

:

When they start singing these

songs, these are the elders.

269

:

These are Jews that are there,

and that's why he is saying

270

:

that they have made us kings.

271

:

Well, they as in he and Go- and

Jesus and God, that, have made

272

:

us kings and priests to our God.

273

:

So that only applies to them, and I

just wanna be sure that that's known,

274

:

because a lot of people may say,

"Oh my gosh, I'm gonna be a king,"

275

:

or, "I'm gonna have all of these

riches, and I'm gonna be a priest."

276

:

And no.

277

:

That, that's, that's not true.

278

:

That's not for us.

279

:

So, let me see here Ah, okay, verse 11.

280

:

So it says, verse 11, "Then I

looked and I heard the voice of

281

:

many angels around the throne."

282

:

That's something so simple,

the voice of many angels.

283

:

And I know that that's

something just really that most

284

:

people will just glean over.

285

:

But when I read it, I just

envisioned it, again, very literal.

286

:

And as many angels would sound, you

think you would hear people out of

287

:

tune, voices all over the place.

288

:

But I don't think heaven would

have any sort of imperfection.

289

:

So when I read that, I just envisioned

a voice that sounds like one.

290

:

And as strong as many voices would sound,

it's still very subtle, and it's singular.

291

:

It, it truly is like one voice.

292

:

maybe even like a humming sound

is how I envision many voices

293

:

that sound alike, would be.

294

:

But I just, I thought of that because

it specifies, "I heard the voice of

295

:

many angels around the throne," but

it doesn't say, "I heard the voices."

296

:

So I guess that's my point.

297

:

It's singular.

298

:

It's one sound, and it

may just sound perfect.

299

:

But anyway And oh, man.

300

:

So verse 13, it says, "And every creature

which is in heaven and on the earth and

301

:

under the earth and such as are in the sea

and all that are in them I heard saying."

302

:

And then it goes on to read, what

they were all saying once the

303

:

seal-- once the scroll was opened.

304

:

But I wanna point out in this verse,

again, it's not just talking about

305

:

heaven, it's talking about Earth.

306

:

So, which is in heaven and on the Earth.

307

:

Then it continues to say and two more

times, and under the earth, so in

308

:

Hell or in Hades, whatever you wanna

call it, and such as are in the sea.

309

:

So every creature in heaven, on Earth,

under the earth, and in the sea, all

310

:

will be proclaiming the following:

"Blessing and honor and glory and

311

:

power be to Him who sits on the throne

and to the Lamb forever and ever."

312

:

And that was the last

thing that I had here.

313

:

Pretty much my notes, in my notebook are

just reconfirming what I read, so I'm not

314

:

gonna go through all of those details.

315

:

But to me, just thinking about heaven

and its perfection, there's thousands

316

:

and ten thousands and thousands of

thousands of creatures and, and people

317

:

in heaven, how it says in verse eleven.

318

:

It says, "And the number of them

was ten thousand times ten thousands

319

:

and thousands of thousands."

320

:

So even with all of those thousands

of people that surround the throne

321

:

where God sits and where Jesus,

the Lamb that was slain, sits.

322

:

Even there, I envision it as perfection.

323

:

Everything that happens, from

whoever speaks, from whatever they

324

:

say, it all sounds like a dream.

325

:

It all sounds like a dream to me.

326

:

And the more I read and the more

details that I come across, it just

327

:

puts together a better picture of

what heaven is going to be like.

328

:

And I don't know.

329

:

I don't know about you guys, I,

I had already lost my fear for

330

:

death when I first started walking

with the Lord, 'cause I finally

331

:

understood that there's more.

332

:

But now reading Revelation to me just

makes it even easier for me to be

333

:

like, "Okay, nothing in this life is

going to matter because there is just

334

:

so much more, and what is waiting

for us beyond is just so glorious."

335

:

So if there's something that I want

you guys to take away from anything

336

:

I've said today, it's that, that

there's so much more waiting for

337

:

us than what is here on Earth.

338

:

It doesn't matter what you have,

doesn't matter the blessings that

339

:

you have been given by God, which

thank you, Lord, for all of them.

340

:

But none of this is going to

matter 'cause like King Solomon

341

:

said, this is all fading away.

342

:

It's all but a vapor.

343

:

And one day we're going to be in

heaven with God and with Jesus,

344

:

and this is what we are going to

be experiencing, and I cannot wait.

345

:

So with that, you guys, thank

you so much for listening.

346

:

Thank you for tuning in.

347

:

I hope that this has blessed you.

348

:

I hope that you are learning.

349

:

I hope that you are getting some

new insight on what heaven is going

350

:

to be like, and how glorious and

how majestic our God truly is, and

351

:

everything that He has prepared for us.

352

:

So thank you guys again.

353

:

I love you.

354

:

Till next time, and God bless you.

355

:

Take care.
