Shownotes

In this episode, Ian chats with The Pain Magician, Tony Scott. Tony’s willingness to help others led him to work wonders as a healer by discovering his own technique and learning about the process that can be applied to any modality to heal himself and other people.

Don’t miss:

  • How Tony realized the power in magic, how magical his life is, and how he became the pain magician
  • How Tony’s fascination with computers took him into a space where he is making something simply simpler
  • Creating an impact for the people in your world
  • Knowing what does not align with you and understanding that you need to separate
  • If you release something physically, it can cause that emotional shift
  • Having the tolerance for something that needed to happen through having more of it

About the Guest:

Tony Scott - The Pain Magician

'The Healer' was born in me when I decided...

"𝐓𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐈 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩."

At the time I didn't know anymore than this. I simply focused my thoughts on this.

My partner started getting problems with her hip and shoulder.

I was scared to sneeze because a nerve in my hip would jab me like a knife. So I started learning...

Everything I could find from deep tissue massage, myofascial release, cupping, gua sha, strain-counterstrain, pandiculation, feldenkrais and many other techniques. I was a sponge searching out everything I could find from chiropractors, physios, osteos, sports performance, movement specialists and anything to do with human movement and anatomy.

And you know what? I got frustrated... I found conflicting advice... It seemed that a lot of health care providers stopped learning once they had their qualifications... That they only stayed in their box and didn't search out other techniques not related to their field.

And I thought...

"If I can't make heads or tails of this... what hope does someone who doesn't understand any of this?"

To illustrate this point... I discovered a technique called pandiculation. And it worked amazingly well to reduce muscle pain. Then I started asking health care providers "Can you explain to me what pandiculation is?" I asked ...doctors, chiros, rehab therapists, physios...Guess what?... None of them had heard of it! It became my secret weapon.

I rented a room at the local gym and started taking away pain and preventing people from surgery. Some of the fascia release techniques were torture and would leave people sore for up to 5 days... but they worked. And I was frustrated again because I couldn't use them with everyone...especially the elderly!

In my never-ending search for more information...like a... Mad Crazy Scientist of Pain Relief I came across a random video of a guy fixing a shoulder problem by using a leg raise. I tried it on the next person AND IT WORKED! In my search for 'better' I promptly forgot about this and moved on to other techniques... like Gua Sha and cupping.

Then Covid-19 hit. The gym shut and I had no steady stream of clients.

Still searching I came across another random video by the same guy about lengthening hamstrings without stretching. I tried it on myself AND IT WORKED! I tried it on my partner and it worked! I then searched out everything I could about this guy.

His name is Tom Dalonzo-Baker, he invented TMR - Total Motion Release. He offered 3 levels of training and I snapped them all up and sorted out my own back pain while learning directly from him! And the best part is HE NEVER TOUCHED ME! I'm in Australia, he's in America. I learnt everything from videos, webinars, and Zoom meetings. I'm proud to say that Tom and I are friends now and meet up regularly (along with his other students) to chat about what's working, what's not, and improving the growing TMR community.

Tom taught me a different way. He taught me a process that can be applied to any modality used to heal.

Tom taught me -

How important it is to treat the whole body

That everything in the body is connected

A way to use good movements to fix the bad (this was a game-changer for me)

Using a process that measures your percentage of improvement

We do one thing and then check its affect on the whole body. This is really important!... I've had people come to me for a shoulder problem, as the shoulder got better their hips got worse, if I wasn't tracking the whole body I would have made them worse the next day!

That I can take-away pain without touching people! (and this just blew my brain!)

And now...

"𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐈 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩."

Would You like me to Take Away Some (or all) of Your Pain?
