Beth Hewitt:

Good morning, Mel. Good morning, Beth. How are you? I'm good, thank

Beth Hewitt:

you. So last time when we

Beth Hewitt:

met, we were telling our listeners all about the

Beth Hewitt:

show and I suppose our hopes, aspirations for the

Beth Hewitt:

show and what we want listeners to get out of the show. But today

Beth Hewitt:

we thought it would be really nice to start to introduce us as your

Beth Hewitt:

hosts, starting with Melissa this

Beth Hewitt:

week. So that's what we're here to do today, to learn more about Melissa's

Beth Hewitt:

story for our listeners. And

Melissa Amos:

don't we? We always have a story, always a story to

Beth Hewitt:

tell. And so

Beth Hewitt:

since this is a podcast about how

Beth Hewitt:

soul inspires us as human beings,

Beth Hewitt:

I thought it'd be really good just to, well, just to start at the beginning.

Beth Hewitt:

I know our lives are very long and there's lots of twists and turns, but

Beth Hewitt:

just tell me how your life journey and how your

Beth Hewitt:

soul is inspired life began for

Beth Hewitt:

you and how did you end up doing what you're doing in the world

Beth Hewitt:

today? Thank you. It's funny, isn't it, because

Melissa Amos:

we find ourselves where we are, and it can often,

Melissa Amos:

I get that question a lot, like, how did you get into doing what it

Melissa Amos:

is that you're doing? And it's such an unusual

Melissa Amos:

place of work, isn't it? And such an unusual thing to do

Melissa Amos:

that. It's a reasonable question, but I'm not sure I could

Melissa Amos:

pinpoint necessarily a

Melissa Amos:

particular point in my life. But I'll say this, that I was very

Melissa Amos:

lucky that when I was growing up, my grandma was a

Melissa Amos:

hypnotherapist. So from the age of eight, I used to

Melissa Amos:

be taken across the rainbow bridge, and

Melissa Amos:

I started to understand the power of

Melissa Amos:

the mind and the imagination and how it can

Melissa Amos:

be used for healing and for

Melissa Amos:

understanding yourself better and for creating outcomes that

Melissa Amos:

you like or that you want, and also

Melissa Amos:

that your emotions don't necessarily need to run the show. So

Melissa Amos:

she would do things. For example, when I was

Melissa Amos:

at school and I was having my exams and I was feeling nervous,

Melissa Amos:

and she helped me ground

Melissa Amos:

into or anchor into a point of confidence. And,

Melissa Amos:

you know, these things I just grew up with and I guess figured that they

Melissa Amos:

were pretty normal until I then, you

Melissa Amos:

know, went into my late teens, early

Melissa Amos:

twenties, launched into my life of work and

Melissa Amos:

doing all the things that we're told that we have to do, the regular

Melissa Amos:

stuff. Went to uni, went to, got a job, started working

Melissa Amos:

myself up the corporate ladder, you know, getting married and

Melissa Amos:

having, buying the house and all the things that we're meant to do. Tick,

Melissa Amos:

tick, tick, tick, tick. But what I realized was that I had

Melissa Amos:

this kind of low level, maybe anxiety

Melissa Amos:

going on, just a little bit of, like, I

Melissa Amos:

couldn't say that I was as happy as the piece of paper.

Beth Hewitt:

Yeah, said I should be. And it was, I

Melissa Amos:

think, because of that and because of the pressures and the stresses and how my

Melissa Amos:

body was handling it, that I eventually found Reiki.

Melissa Amos:

And I remember having a massage, and

Melissa Amos:

this lady put her hands on my head, just

Melissa Amos:

above my head, and I felt this feeling like I'd not felt before.

Melissa Amos:

And it felt as if my head was being

Melissa Amos:

filled up with this most amazing goo. And then

Melissa Amos:

all of a sudden, it all emptied and I was like, oh, I feel really

Melissa Amos:

clear. Like, what was that? And

Melissa Amos:

that was how I discovered Reiki. And shortly after I

Melissa Amos:

learned it, and then I realized, because I was quite cynical,

Melissa Amos:

quite scientific, I like things to be proven. Even the

Melissa Amos:

hypnotherapy and the NLP stuff I was doing, it was all kind of

Melissa Amos:

result. So you like things to be proven,

Beth Hewitt:

we should delve into that more. Well, I did now,

Melissa Amos:

because when I, when I learned Reiki and I had this

Melissa Amos:

energy that I could physically feel. So that was my proof. I could

Melissa Amos:

physically feel this energy moving through my hands. And

Melissa Amos:

I was picking stuff up. Even on the very first time that I

Melissa Amos:

practiced on somebody, I was getting these impressions,

Melissa Amos:

and I thought, well, hold on a minute, if I can go to

Melissa Amos:

a weekend thing, have somebody, like, do some funky stuff, like,

Melissa Amos:

with my head in my hands, teach me a few things, and now I can

Melissa Amos:

physically feel energy course through my body. What

Melissa Amos:

am I closing myself off to? That was the question. Ah,

Beth Hewitt:

yeah. And then that led me to read

Melissa Amos:

a whole load of things about a whole load of

Melissa Amos:

stuff. So the law of attraction was kind of the next thing

Melissa Amos:

I delved into. And that changed everything

Melissa Amos:

because I started to realize quite how powerful my thoughts

Melissa Amos:

were, that it wasn't just that it was influencing how I was behaving.

Melissa Amos:

And, you know, obviously I was doing visualization as a child

Melissa Amos:

through the hypnotherapy, but that was something that I thought was quite

Melissa Amos:

different. And now realizing, well, the world is literally

Melissa Amos:

responding to me. And I think

Melissa Amos:

for me, because I had so by then, I'd done a lot of NLP

Melissa Amos:

training, and obviously I'd grown up learning these techniques and

Melissa Amos:

my grandmother tapping and all sorts of things as well.

Melissa Amos:

And I was looking at a lot of this through those lens, like, through the

Melissa Amos:

psychological lens. I was like, well, maybe it is just because I believe it's going

Melissa Amos:

to happen, that it is going to happen. Maybe it's just that my brain is

Melissa Amos:

looking for the things, you know? But actually, that was really helpful for me

Melissa Amos:

because it helped me sift away some of the stuff that was

Melissa Amos:

maybe a little bit out there,

Melissa Amos:

actually find practices that were quite grounded and that actually

Melissa Amos:

worked. And I started to blend these

Melissa Amos:

psychological, scientific things with the

Melissa Amos:

kind of energetic, esoteric stuff. Yeah,

Beth Hewitt:

I think that's where the magic is, because I think a lot of people

Beth Hewitt:

are either in a Wu camp or a scientific camp, but

Beth Hewitt:

actually, it is a science. It's a law. It's a natural law of the

Beth Hewitt:

universe. And so I think it's good

Beth Hewitt:

when you get to that place, but it takes a while for some people to

Beth Hewitt:

get to that place. It takes a while because we've had

Melissa Amos:

so much influence that tells us that, you

Melissa Amos:

know, there's a path that we need to take, and that's, and that's what we

Melissa Amos:

do. But, you know, this was all the background

Melissa Amos:

of how I started to get interested in it. It wasn't until I learned

Melissa Amos:

Reiki, and I suddenly was like, no, I can't be doing this

Melissa Amos:

anymore. And I literally, my whole body launched me

Melissa Amos:

out, like, quite physically out of where I

Melissa Amos:

was working at the time. And it

Melissa Amos:

took a series of leaps and jumps and

Melissa Amos:

circumstances and, you know, some things that were, that were quite

Melissa Amos:

hard, you know, because was breaking free from this

Melissa Amos:

thing a lot of courage and trust

Melissa Amos:

in myself. And it was really when I started

Melissa Amos:

sitting in circle and developing my psychic and

Melissa Amos:

mediumship abilities and making this a more important

Melissa Amos:

part of my life, the work aspect of

Melissa Amos:

it just naturally rolled in. People asked me,

Melissa Amos:

can you do me reading? Or, you know, I was having wakey clients. I was

Melissa Amos:

being then asked to lead some workshops, and it

Melissa Amos:

just kind of nicely, nicely just unfolded

Melissa Amos:

in front of me, and I can't be more grateful for

Melissa Amos:

that. I think that part of it is

Beth Hewitt:

what hopefully some of the listeners will take a lot of comfort from,

Beth Hewitt:

because when we finally allow ourselves to follow

Beth Hewitt:

that path, almost surrender to it and just allow

Beth Hewitt:

magical things just start to drop and things start

Beth Hewitt:

to align and show up for us. But it takes, like you say, that initial

Beth Hewitt:

courage to take that leap of faith on ourselves, or,

Beth Hewitt:

and I'd love to just hear a little bit more when you say physically launched

Beth Hewitt:

out of your body to maybe to. What was that? To escape what

Beth Hewitt:

you're, what was currently going on? What was that all about? What happened? So

Melissa Amos:

I working in a showroom at the time, and it was a job that

Melissa Amos:

I equally loved and hated. I mean, it was, it was 50 what?

Melissa Amos:

Plus hours a week. And there was a lot of pressure and all of this.

Melissa Amos:

And I walked into the building and the only

Melissa Amos:

way I can describe it. So this was about three weeks after I received my

Melissa Amos:

Reiki attunement. I walked into the building and it

Melissa Amos:

literally felt as if my body was being

Melissa Amos:

screamed at. Like, you know, when you can

Melissa Amos:

feel sound, like when the chores or,

Melissa Amos:

you know, you hear that kind of high pitched thing, it was like there was

Melissa Amos:

no, there was no sound, but that's what it felt like. It felt like I

Melissa Amos:

was physically being attacked by

Melissa Amos:

something. And

Melissa Amos:

my feeling was, I just need to run. I just wanted to bolt. Obviously, I

Melissa Amos:

couldn't because I had work, work to do.

Melissa Amos:

However, I walked into the reception

Melissa Amos:

and said to the poor receptionist, who probably heard me say it

Melissa Amos:

7000 times, that's it, I need to leave. I can't be here

Melissa Amos:

anymore. And there was a local paper that had just been

Melissa Amos:

delivered on the counter and I opened it up and

Melissa Amos:

I literally opened it up to this full page ad of

Melissa Amos:

a job, of a new role that was local and it

Melissa Amos:

was 30 hours a week and it was, you know, kind of

Melissa Amos:

in training kind of stuff. And I was like, oh, my God, I was

Melissa Amos:

like, this. This is the job I'm going to get. And it was a. Well,

Melissa Amos:

I had to work quite a long notice period, but three months later

Melissa Amos:

I was in that role. Amazing.

Melissa Amos:

What was that job for the motor industry? So

Melissa Amos:

it was quite interesting and it was, it was

Melissa Amos:

a step from what I already knew. It was a real

Melissa Amos:

bridge from what I already knew into where I was coming because there was

Melissa Amos:

a lot of self empowerment and motivation

Melissa Amos:

and, you know, recognition and training and I was meeting lots of

Melissa Amos:

people and traveling up and down the country and like, it was the most

Melissa Amos:

bizarre job. However, that job got me

Melissa Amos:

official NLP training that paid

Melissa Amos:

for. You know, I still draw from today. And

Melissa Amos:

it met me and met a load of people that were

Melissa Amos:

instrumental to my path. And most importantly, it gave me the

Melissa Amos:

time to study and to go on courses and to continue my

Melissa Amos:

reiki. And I was always there with one of my weird books

Melissa Amos:

because I had an actual lunch break and I'd sit and read my

Melissa Amos:

strange esoteric books in the gardens

Melissa Amos:

there. So it was that, that was the bridge

Melissa Amos:

into then when I finally had my children and, and

Melissa Amos:

stopped working and, you know, the stories in between there, which

Melissa Amos:

weren't easy at the time, but

Melissa Amos:

that was what I was like, well, I can't work for anyone else

Melissa Amos:

anymore. I just have to do this. I've just got to make this work.

Melissa Amos:

And the universe definitely listened to me because there's one point I need to go

Melissa Amos:

and get a job, and I was applying for all these jobs that I was

Melissa Amos:

perfect for, and I wasn't getting them, and I was, you know,

Melissa Amos:

like it wants me. Thank goodness I can get

Melissa Amos:

them. Yeah, there's always a grand plan.

Beth Hewitt:

We keep applying for these jobs, and it's just not landing. You think, what's the

Beth Hewitt:

matter with me? But there's something bigger at play.

Beth Hewitt:

So do you feel as though there's been. Your soul has always

Beth Hewitt:

been calling you? I mean, you spoke then about, that was a physical kind of

Beth Hewitt:

waking up, like a sign, something that you had to pay

Beth Hewitt:

attention to and take action on. But do you feel there's a

Beth Hewitt:

thread or something that your soul has always been leading you

Beth Hewitt:

towards? Yeah. You know,

Melissa Amos:

what I've learned is this, that so many of us find ourselves in these

Melissa Amos:

jobs doing the things that we're meant to, and that's where I was.

Melissa Amos:

And like I said, I had this kind of low level.

Melissa Amos:

I don't know what it was, but it was a certain dissatisfaction. And,

Melissa Amos:

you know, you know, I wasn't looking forward to life. Life

Melissa Amos:

wasn't. There was days where I'd be driving into work thinking,

Melissa Amos:

oh, well, if my brakes failed right now, then I wouldn't have to go into

Melissa Amos:

work like it was, you know, this dangerous thinking.

Melissa Amos:

And I realize now that that was

Melissa Amos:

a part of me that was

Melissa Amos:

consistently telling me, Melissa, there's more to life than

Melissa Amos:

this to life. And the

Melissa Amos:

more we shove it down, the louder it

Melissa Amos:

starts to talk to you. And that's what I was doing. And

Melissa Amos:

so I don't want anyone listening to this, thinking that, oh, well,

Melissa Amos:

your soul starts giving you, like, dangerous thoughts, because that's not the

Melissa Amos:

point. The point is that the soul was doing

Melissa Amos:

what I needed in order to get me out of where I

Melissa Amos:

was, I think, yeah. And with that

Melissa Amos:

came vision. So I would, you know, go and

Melissa Amos:

have a weekend away, or I'd go out with my husband, and every time I'd

Melissa Amos:

start talking to him about, oh, one day, I'd love to be

Melissa Amos:

working with people and just helping them, you know, doing some

Melissa Amos:

coaching and having my own business and maybe running retreats, and I could

Melissa Amos:

take them and I could train them to do this and, like. And this every

Melissa Amos:

time. My poor husband must have been so bored,

Melissa Amos:

and. And it was one day when I heard myself,

Melissa Amos:

it'd gone away again. By this point, I think two of my three children

Melissa Amos:

were born, and I heard myself say it again,

Melissa Amos:

and I was like, I need to stop. No, I was pregnant with my second.

Melissa Amos:

I was like, I need to stop just saying this. I need to actually start

Melissa Amos:

doing it. Yeah. And then

Melissa Amos:

I started to actually listen to my soul. I was

Melissa Amos:

that rather than trying to ignore it and trying to tick the boxes of doing

Melissa Amos:

everything that I should, I was like, okay, what do I need to know?

Melissa Amos:

What do I need to know? What do I need? Yeah.

Melissa Amos:

That started this communication process

Melissa Amos:

that I don't need to have the dangerous thoughts and, you know, I don't need

Melissa Amos:

to drop into despair before

Melissa Amos:

I realize I'm going. There's a better way. Yeah.

Beth Hewitt:

Yeah. Those dominant

Beth Hewitt:

thoughts and words that we use every day are

Beth Hewitt:

so powerful for keeping us where we are. We don't realize

Beth Hewitt:

it. And the fact that you thought, I've been saying this

Beth Hewitt:

for a long time, but that's all of us, isn't it? You know, when we

Beth Hewitt:

find ourselves stuck in a place, whatever, if it's a relationship or a

Beth Hewitt:

job or, you know, whatever that is, when we actually think about

Beth Hewitt:

what have we been telling ourselves and what have we been saying to other people,

Beth Hewitt:

then it becomes. There's clues there. But until we are

Beth Hewitt:

aware of that, then it's very difficult to move

Beth Hewitt:

away from that. You know, it's interesting. I would see people.

Melissa Amos:

So where I was, people would come in and they'd be consultants,

Melissa Amos:

and they'd be training people, and I'd look at them and I'd think, oh, they're

Melissa Amos:

so lucky. And this is what,

Melissa Amos:

when you receive these inspirations, and that's what they are,

Melissa Amos:

well, they're there. I think that these are also signs from the universe, like,

Melissa Amos:

hey, this is possible. You can do this, you know, is giving

Melissa Amos:

me something to model towards. And it wasn't perfect

Melissa Amos:

because it. But it showed me away. It kept showing me

Melissa Amos:

away. And I think anyone listening that if

Melissa Amos:

you're finding that you're in a situation, then you find

Melissa Amos:

somebody that kind of triggers something in you, whether, like, oh,

Melissa Amos:

well, I could do that. I could do it better than that because I used

Melissa Amos:

to think that as well. I'd get trainers come in and be like, oh, I'd

Melissa Amos:

be able to train people better than that. And it would kind of, you know,

Melissa Amos:

trigger the ego in me as well. It's something.

Melissa Amos:

There's something in there that you're recognizing in yourself.

Melissa Amos:

And when you notice that, if you can start to follow

Melissa Amos:

those clues of, well,

Melissa Amos:

maybe I could try that. Try it on.

Beth Hewitt:

Try emphasize and see what happens.

Beth Hewitt:

So since then, following your

Beth Hewitt:

path and starting your own business and creating

Beth Hewitt:

lots of different things. Are

Beth Hewitt:

there certain aspects of what you have created up to this point that you are

Beth Hewitt:

the most proud of? The thing that I'm most

Melissa Amos:

proud of, I want to use that word, is my

Melissa Amos:

book. Because that had been brewing inside

Melissa Amos:

me for a long time. Yeah. People. And, you know, I love

Melissa Amos:

a book. And I'd had people asking me, oh, you should write a

Melissa Amos:

book. And I'm like, why would, why would I write a

Melissa Amos:

book? Who would read a book written by me? And

Melissa Amos:

I felt this real urge at

Melissa Amos:

one point in, it was really sudden when I started,

Melissa Amos:

it was very sudden. Like, I literally wrote

Melissa Amos:

a Facebook post, read it back to myself, and thought,

Melissa Amos:

this is the start of a book message. This lady

Melissa Amos:

who I'd been following for a while, who was a book coach,

Melissa Amos:

and went, is this the start of the book? Went, yeah. I said,

Melissa Amos:

all right. I looked at what was going on astrologically, because at the time, I

Melissa Amos:

was working with somebody

Melissa Amos:

through my astral chart, and I was like, right, give me two

Melissa Amos:

weeks. And two weeks came, and

Melissa Amos:

I paid her the money, and I opened up my laptop and I just started

Melissa Amos:

writing. And literally,

Melissa Amos:

it was like ten weeks. I'd written

Melissa Amos:

the bones of the book. I'd written like 60,000

Melissa Amos:

words or something of the book. Amazing. My first book, there was

Melissa Amos:

no plan, there was no anything. I had Katie coaching me

Melissa Amos:

along, really just encouraging me, like, yeah, keep going, keep going, keep

Melissa Amos:

going. And as I read it

Melissa Amos:

back, I. Was like, wow, did it feel like you were

Beth Hewitt:

your channel in? Or wouldn't you get into that pen on paper or typing

Beth Hewitt:

on the screen, that things just start to flow through.

Melissa Amos:

You and out completely flowed through. I

Melissa Amos:

enjoyed writing every single word of that book. I

Melissa Amos:

thoroughly just, it was like, oh,

Melissa Amos:

I wonder what's going to happen when I open my laptop

Melissa Amos:

today. And there'd be times where I'd be suddenly 3

Melissa Amos:

hours gone, and I've written like,

Melissa Amos:

whatever, however many words. And

Melissa Amos:

so the book is really, it's a story of my life. We just gave you

Melissa Amos:

a very abridged version, but it's a story of the. The

Melissa Amos:

realizations and the information and the

Melissa Amos:

philosophies and the real life implementation

Melissa Amos:

of some of these things and the questions and the ego and the

Melissa Amos:

inspired and all of this stuff in there. So what was I

Melissa Amos:

channeling? Because it was my life, but reading it back,

Melissa Amos:

I noticed how the perspective of what it

Melissa Amos:

was that I was going through has been channeled through a higher

Melissa Amos:

perspective that I now have. Didn't have at the time.

Melissa Amos:

And actually writing that book was super healing for

Melissa Amos:

me because I was, you know, one of the.

Melissa Amos:

One of the practices that I work with are the Akashic records.

Melissa Amos:

And the Akashic records hold the story

Melissa Amos:

of your life and your life's past. And one

Melissa Amos:

of the amazing things about working in the records is

Melissa Amos:

whatever you learn about yourself, you learn through the

Melissa Amos:

eyes of compassion and non judgment and higher

Melissa Amos:

perspective. And I kind of feel like

Melissa Amos:

that version of me

Melissa Amos:

was giving me a. Lot of the stuff because

Beth Hewitt:

the things. In there, I don't. I didn't consciously remember

Melissa Amos:

until I started writing about it. Yeah, well, there's a

Melissa Amos:

significant incident in my life, you know, that.

Melissa Amos:

That came from somewhere. So, yeah,

Melissa Amos:

it was a channeling. It certainly came

Melissa Amos:

from. It didn't come from logic. There wasn't, like, right, this x, y, z,

Melissa Amos:

I need to write. And I've had people who have read

Melissa Amos:

it since and say that it hit them in

Melissa Amos:

a way or they felt it, or there was, like, things started to happen when

Melissa Amos:

they had the books in their hands and, you know, they'd have the book, and

Melissa Amos:

then suddenly angel numbers were everywhere, or, like, birds would start

Melissa Amos:

flying around them or, like, you know, like, weird things would happen.

Melissa Amos:

And that was one of my. Not my intention, that weird things would

Melissa Amos:

happen, but that the book would hold an energy. Yeah. And I think

Melissa Amos:

through the words and, you know, through some of the

Melissa Amos:

energy work I did with the book, it holds something that

Melissa Amos:

imparts on you when you read it so well.

Beth Hewitt:

It is a very magical book. I will put the book in the show notes

Beth Hewitt:

as well, so people can check it out for themselves. But it does hold

Beth Hewitt:

a lot of energy, does hold a lot of power. And I

Beth Hewitt:

think some authors, when they're right, it's

Beth Hewitt:

forced, it's structured. It's. I need to do this amount of words a day,

Beth Hewitt:

but when you allow yourself just to, like you did, just

Beth Hewitt:

allow the words to unfold and flow and not necessarily be,

Beth Hewitt:

I suppose, not being too connected to what

Beth Hewitt:

the outcome of a chapter was going to be until you're reading it back and

Beth Hewitt:

you're going, oh, my goodness, where did that come from? I think that's

Beth Hewitt:

incredibly powerful thing to do. So

Beth Hewitt:

an amazing accomplishment, and people should check it

Beth Hewitt:

out. Thank you. So why would you say

Beth Hewitt:

you do the work that you do in the world?

Melissa Amos:

Why? Why do I do what I do?

Melissa Amos:

Why do I do what I do? It's. I really do feel

Melissa Amos:

like this is what I was born.

Melissa Amos:

You know, I get asked a lot about purpose. What's my

Melissa Amos:

purpose? And am I on my purpose, and am I on my path?

Melissa Amos:

And what I've realized through

Melissa Amos:

my life and through working with others is that

Melissa Amos:

our purpose is to know

Melissa Amos:

ourselves truly. And the book helped, really helped me with that.

Melissa Amos:

But our purpose is to know ourselves. And what I mean by that is

Melissa Amos:

to know the stories that we tell ourselves and to know the things

Melissa Amos:

that light us up and the things that, things that if, you know, if money

Melissa Amos:

were no object and you didn't have to have any

Melissa Amos:

responsibilities, what is it that you would be doing? And what it is

Melissa Amos:

that I would be doing would be discovering and delving and getting

Melissa Amos:

curious about metaphysics and energy

Melissa Amos:

work and the power of the mind and the

Melissa Amos:

invisible realms that are out there and

Melissa Amos:

healing and self empowerment. Because it fascinates

Melissa Amos:

me. It absolutely fascinates me. Like, I love

Melissa Amos:

hearing about the one person that managed

Melissa Amos:

to, you know, against all odds, become

Melissa Amos:

the, whatever it was, healthy, the

Melissa Amos:

CEO, the millionaire, the, like, happiest

Melissa Amos:

person in the world. Like, whatever it was, I love that. And that's what

Melissa Amos:

lights me up. And

Melissa Amos:

when we, when we truly know what it is that lights

Melissa Amos:

us up and we start to follow that, our

Melissa Amos:

second purpose is to assist others and to

Melissa Amos:

help others. And I truly believe that our two

Melissa Amos:

purposes are always aligned. Yeah. What lights

Melissa Amos:

me up and how I influence and impact people,

Melissa Amos:

they're aligned. So why do I do what I do? Because I

Melissa Amos:

love it. I am fascinated by it. I literally, I'm

Melissa Amos:

currently studying my psychotherapy

Melissa Amos:

diploma, and it's like a weekend a month, and

Melissa Amos:

I love it. I'm like, yes, this weekend I get to

Melissa Amos:

learn all this stuff. I'm reading about it. And I took

Melissa Amos:

this, like, psychology book on holiday with me, and I'm like, I love

Melissa Amos:

this. So why do I, this may sound

Melissa Amos:

selfish, but why do I do what I love? Because I love it. I

Melissa Amos:

love it, love it, I love it. And, and

Melissa Amos:

it has such a profound impact on other people

Melissa Amos:

that I love that. I love that, too.

Beth Hewitt:

Yeah. Right? Yeah. So that's

Melissa Amos:

why I do, I mean. I completely agree with you. I don't think it

Beth Hewitt:

sounds selfish at all. I think we should all be doing

Beth Hewitt:

what we want to be doing in the world. We should all be doing the

Beth Hewitt:

thing that makes us the happiest. And in doing that, we

Beth Hewitt:

are giving other people the permission. Obviously, people can do what they want,

Beth Hewitt:

but we're giving people permission to see that they can also do that for themselves

Beth Hewitt:

as well. You know, in us stepping up and following our purpose and passion,

Beth Hewitt:

that, you know, hopefully will inspire other people to take

Beth Hewitt:

that leap of faith on themselves so they can be happy, too. So I would

Beth Hewitt:

say it's one of the most selfless things to do what makes

Beth Hewitt:

us happy and what we want to do in the world. You know, when you

Melissa Amos:

truly know yourself, like, truly, truly all the stuff, stories and

Melissa Amos:

all the programming and all the things. Right. That influence us. But when you

Melissa Amos:

truly know that self that's, that's

Melissa Amos:

within all of that, then what, the thing that lights you

Melissa Amos:

up and, and keeps you going

Melissa Amos:

is usually quite selfless,

Melissa Amos:

like it usually is. I think you could say that to some people

Melissa Amos:

and think, oh, well, then I'm just going to have a hedonistic

Melissa Amos:

lifestyle and I'm just going to be, you know, going around

Melissa Amos:

drinking and doing drugs and having orgies and doing all of these things. And that's

Melissa Amos:

what it is. That makes you happy. But it's like, maybe actually those things

Melissa Amos:

aren't what make you happy and light you up, but they're masking, they're making

Melissa Amos:

you feel good because there's something inside that, you

Melissa Amos:

know, that's not been recognized just yet. So,

Melissa Amos:

yeah, I think. I think that this is, part of

Melissa Amos:

this is what I do is I help people know themselves so that they can

Melissa Amos:

go and, and light themselves up. I love

Beth Hewitt:

that it distills down to that phrase, what you said, purpose

Beth Hewitt:

is to know yourself. Because I think people get trapped

Beth Hewitt:

sometimes in what is my passion, what is my purpose? How do I figure it

Beth Hewitt:

out? And they're so up in their head about it, but it simply is to

Beth Hewitt:

know yourself. Every facet of yourself, every experience, every

Beth Hewitt:

up and down, every challenge, every relationship,

Beth Hewitt:

all of it, the whole holistic thing. Purpose is simply

Beth Hewitt:

to know. Know yourself. I love that. I think it boils it down,

Beth Hewitt:

makes it easy for people to get their head around.

Beth Hewitt:

Okay, so depending

Beth Hewitt:

on when people are listening to this, you may be working on different

Beth Hewitt:

things, but what are you currently working on? What business projects or life projects

Beth Hewitt:

are you currently working on? So, years in the making.

Melissa Amos:

Years and years in the making. Finally

Melissa Amos:

doing it after many requests. I have

Melissa Amos:

soul school launching in, we're starting in January.

Melissa Amos:

And soul school is all

Melissa Amos:

of my knowledge and practices and experience

Melissa Amos:

on working with the Akashic records. And

Melissa Amos:

so I'm so excited about this. You know, the Akashic records

Melissa Amos:

changed and influenced me so

Melissa Amos:

profoundly, not just in the work I do, but

Melissa Amos:

in how I know myself and how I could

Melissa Amos:

support all of the other practices that I was, that I've been working with

Melissa Amos:

before. And since. And I've

Melissa Amos:

been leading Akashic sessions for

Melissa Amos:

six years. I've been running Akashic workshops for five

Melissa Amos:

years, but I've never really done

Melissa Amos:

this, which is a full year immersion

Melissa Amos:

into the records and how we

Melissa Amos:

can work with them and what is held in them and how we

Melissa Amos:

can bring self healing and how we can

Melissa Amos:

work in the records with other people. So how to open other people's

Melissa Amos:

records and. And give them the information

Melissa Amos:

and the energy that they need from that and some of the interventions that

Melissa Amos:

we can use in there to help them activate into their

Melissa Amos:

soul's path. So, yeah, it's going to be a whole

Melissa Amos:

year with me in a nice small group

Melissa Amos:

with some amazing insights, and

Melissa Amos:

I'm so excited about what this is going to bring for

Melissa Amos:

everybody that joins. It's like, it's

Melissa Amos:

blowing me away already. And, you know, like the book,

Melissa Amos:

this is how the course has been being structured.

Melissa Amos:

Like, literally one day I was, you know, I had the idea and I'm like,

Melissa Amos:

right. It was just like, put it out, put it out, put it out. I

Melissa Amos:

was like, yeah, but I haven't got anything. So, like, put it out, put it

Melissa Amos:

out, put it out. So. So I went, fine, and I put it out and

Melissa Amos:

people signed up and I was like, I don't have a structure. I don't know

Melissa Amos:

what's going on. All I know is the XYZ. And then one

Melissa Amos:

day, there's this beautiful day in the sunshine, and I came out in

Melissa Amos:

the garden and opened my laptop, and then suddenly,

Melissa Amos:

like, a framework was just

Melissa Amos:

on my paper. I was like, well, this is very nice. So

Melissa Amos:

I'm excited to see how that expands and transpires

Melissa Amos:

over the months. Amazing.

Beth Hewitt:

That sounds wonderful. And we'll put the link to that as well, because I'm sure

Beth Hewitt:

we can update that for people who are interested in joining that as

Beth Hewitt:

well. So we're coming to the end of our

Beth Hewitt:

wonderful interview. What

Beth Hewitt:

one piece of advice, and maybe it's hard to distill it down into one piece

Beth Hewitt:

of advice, but what one piece of advice would you like to give to our

Beth Hewitt:

listeners who are trying to live their own Searle inspired

Beth Hewitt:

life? Well, we've spoken a lot

Melissa Amos:

today about knowing yourself, and that's always going to be the first

Melissa Amos:

piece of advice that I'd give anyone. What I mean

Melissa Amos:

by that is just start to really get into awareness

Melissa Amos:

of what is happening in your. In your head, what your

Melissa Amos:

brain likes to tell you, what's happening in your body and

Melissa Amos:

what your body likes to tell you. And once you've had a little

Melissa Amos:

listen to that because it's going to keep on chatting to you. Listen to

Melissa Amos:

it, but know that that isn't you.

Melissa Amos:

This brain that tells you all of the things and this body that gives

Melissa Amos:

you all of these responses, they were a part of you, but

Melissa Amos:

they're not the whole of you. So once you've listened to that, just

Melissa Amos:

ask yourself, and whether you want to call that soul or

Melissa Amos:

higher self or intuition or in a

Melissa Amos:

teacher or in a wisdom, just ask

Melissa Amos:

that part of you the question, what do I need to know

Melissa Amos:

today? Or what do you think about? What do I

Melissa Amos:

think about this? And just start to

Melissa Amos:

develop this conversation. Because what this does is a few

Melissa Amos:

things. It, first of all, helps you understand that

Melissa Amos:

these thoughts and these emotions, these feelings that are kind

Melissa Amos:

of spinning around all day long are simply an

Melissa Amos:

opinion and they don't have to drive you. So

Melissa Amos:

it starts to create that separation between what we often

Melissa Amos:

identify as self but isn't. And also

Melissa Amos:

it starts to create this dialogue so that you begin to

Melissa Amos:

turn up the volume of this inner voice or this

Melissa Amos:

soul voice, which will strengthen that relationship. If you

Melissa Amos:

start there, the rest of the stuff

Melissa Amos:

becomes easier to navigate.

Beth Hewitt:

I love that. So it's creating that space initially

Beth Hewitt:

to have that awareness of who, who we are

Beth Hewitt:

and starting on that journey. Exactly. Great

Beth Hewitt:

advice. Okay, well, it has been wonderful

Beth Hewitt:

learning more about your journey and story today. I'm sure our listeners

Beth Hewitt:

will appreciate that as well. And we get to do this all. Again

Beth Hewitt:

next week where you'll be interviewing

Beth Hewitt:

me. So that will be turning the tables. I'm excited for that. I'm

Melissa Amos:

excited to learn about you. I'm really excited to learn more about

Melissa Amos:

some of the similarities and the differences that

Melissa Amos:

we have. Because the way that this podcast came together

Melissa Amos:

and, you know, how this is just kind of flowing into

Melissa Amos:

this, I'm sure there's going to be some real magic come over the next few

Melissa Amos:

episodes. I've just got whole body goosebumps when you said that. So

Beth Hewitt:

I think you might be onto something there. But as you were talking, there were

Beth Hewitt:

lots of similarities. I was thinking, oh my goodness, that's my story. That's my story.

Melissa Amos:

That's my story. So it will all become apparent. It will all start

Beth Hewitt:

unfolding. I look forward to our next installment of the show.
