Aisha:

Welcome to Beyond the Session with Aisha Shaba.

Aisha:

It's time for my favorite segment.

Aisha:

It depends the q and a with context.

Aisha:

If you're new to the show, this is where I answer your thoughtful

Aisha:

questions with a question and have you walking away with even more questions.

Aisha:

How do I figure out what my values are?

Aisha:

The simplest way to figure out what your values are is to ask

Aisha:

yourself the following questions.

Aisha:

What's your focus?

Aisha:

What are your motivations, your inspirations, the intangibles,

Aisha:

and your philosophies?

Aisha:

This is an exercise that I do with therapists during our

Aisha:

content planning sessions and our one-on-one strategy calls.

Aisha:

This comes in handy, especially when we're creating and updating policies

Aisha:

and procedures because oftentimes we get distracted by what we have to

Aisha:

do as opposed to what we want to do.

Aisha:

So for an example, if you're trying to determine what you're going to do

Aisha:

when a client continues to no show for appointments, you might be thinking to

Aisha:

yourself, well, what I want to do is to have a conversation with them about why

Aisha:

they keep missing their appointments.

Aisha:

But what you have to do is.

Aisha:

To consider that clinical component is, you know, why are they missing their

Aisha:

appointments and what is the value in them maintaining their appointment.

Aisha:

If you know what your values are, you're more likely to be able to

Aisha:

communicate with your clients and also any other stakeholders that

Aisha:

are benefiting from your practice.

Aisha:

If you have any additional questions or thoughts about your values or

Aisha:

any other topic, there's a link in the show notes where you can submit

Aisha:

your private practice musings.

Aisha:

And if your inquiry is selected to air on the podcast, you'll receive
