Episode Highlights

Sherrie's Beginnings

  • Sherrie landed an apprenticeship at Glazer-Kennedy Insider's Circle (GKIC) with her outstanding hard work in a nonprofit organization
  • She was not entirely sure she fit in the room when the team had meetings. Regardless, Sherrie poured her best effort into being the Executive Assistant.
  • She took this as a learning opportunity, listening to terms, getting insights, and familiarizing herself with operations and the business.
  • She learned more about organizing live events by partnering up with an events planner and taking these learnings into practice.
  • Sherrie was not a devout Christian until she met people and went through experiences that enlightened her spirituality.

Trends in Live Events Marketing

  • Virtual events will take over traditional or live events.
  • Live events are opportunities to help people get to know your brand better and gather a group of like-minded people to learn from speakers and attendees.
  • Live events are a growth marketing opportunity.
  • Before, a live event was simply a venue for learning. Nowadays, businesses also use them to build their tribe or list.
  • Events incorporate the use of new technology like social media for things like photo contests. However, live events mainly stand as an avenue to bring people together.

Tips for People Thinking of Having Live Events

  • Listen to people. Recognize that everybody needs help with something, and everybody wants to help. You may find that other people have good ideas to share, too.
  • A sense of accountability is essential, especially as a solo entrepreneur, because you would be reporting to yourself. Owning up to your responsibilities makes the difference.
  • Don't give up. If you don’t have the drive, then you are not chasing the right dream.
  • Make sure you’re chasing the right dream, one that aligns with your values.
  • Learn more about how this connects with organizing live events by listening to the full podcast.

Glowing From A Relationship with Christ

“It's really fascinating to stand back now and look at how things have changed because of what Christ can do for you. And if you allow him into your heart, how much he'll change you as a person, and you become more Christ-like in your life.” - Click Here to Tweet This
  • Sherrie previously did not have a relationship with God.
  • You exude a different glow when you fall in love with Christ. Sherrie's relationship with her husband led her to find Christ, and she became more Christ-like.
  • After allowing this openness to Christ to happen, she decided to have herself baptized.
  • The realization of a faithful relationship with Christ comes with peace.
“And I said, ‘Yes, I'm in love with Christ.’ And so many people, a lot of people didn't understand that, but some did.” - Click Here to Tweet This

Challenges & Reflections Being A Christian in the Business World

  • Being a Christian and being miserable at work makes a miserable Christian—a bad combination.
  • Sometimes we resort to controlling our life instead of giving it up to the Lord.
  • Your practice reflects on your actions, and people begin to treat you as a follower of Christ.
  • We tend to forget to check in with ourselves because of how busy we are. We need to recognize we need help from Him and check where we stand with Him.
  • Do you feel overworked, tired, and stressed? Find Christ, and He will show you rest.
“If you don't have that drive, it's because you're not chasing the right dream, so make sure that you're chasing the right dream that is in alignment with your values. And if you've got that, then the drive is going to come.” - Click Here to Tweet This

Dealing With A Difficult Family Matter

  • Ground yourself into who you are spiritually.
  • Rebirth is a gift as much as dying and entering heaven.
  • Learn more about Sherrie’s journey and experience by listening to the episode.

Believers Impacting Other People's Lives

“The kind of people that I love to work with—people who have goals in mind and some sort of vision, because then that will overcome the obstacles that are going to come up during the conversation.” - Click Here to Tweet This
  • The best persons or customers to work with are those who have a vision for their event. They are open-minded and can overcome obstacles.
  • Believers can impact other people's lives by staying grounded in their spirituality. In Sherrie's case, her faith translates into her actions, and she serves as a light for her clients.
  • Even with or without quoted scriptures, we have the power to impact and touch other people's lives with our grounded spirituality.
“My mother in law made a great point—she's like, ‘Sherrie, you’re their light. Continue to be who you are, because you may open their eyes to who Christ is.’ And I just kept remembering that and thanking the Lord for putting me in that situation of being able to be that light for people.” - Click Here to Tweet This
