For many, the interview can be the most daunting part of the job search. Interviewees are forced to face the uncomfortable reality of interviewing with somebody they've never met. On the other hand, the interviewer may have countless other candidates to speak with. That's why it is important to build rapport with the hiring manager. To do this, we can follow these simple tips to turn your discomfort into a completely controllable conversation.
"You're being put into a situation that is filled with uncertainty until you take control of the conversation. In a conversational interview, you have way more control over how to make that happen than you might be giving yourself credit for." - Elissa Shuck, LYWL EP.20
In this episode, I cover how to turn an uncomfortable interview into a conversation, how to use curiosity to ask the right questions in an interview, how to relate to the hiring manager, and how to identify the solutions to their problems while highlighting your skills.
