Welcome to Quest Happens, a slapstick new friendly actual play Dungeons and Dragons podcast where our players search for the meaning in their lives while suffering from never ending side quests. Will they ever find their own personal main quest? Or will they be cursed to wander the lands bouncing from quest to quest?
I guess you'll have to find out in Quest Happens. Previously on Quest Happens. The complete opposite of a dusty trail.
As you are heading northwest and this lush grassy vines growing everywhere you begin to walk. It's pretty low grass in this area, but the trees that surround you have vines completely growing up them.
You're seeing these magical, beautiful birds flying in the air.
Nathan (Stump):Stump gets in front and is like, stump cut new path and starts swinging his axe, cutting the grass as we go.
Lauren (EZ):And then I'm like, hey, buddy, I don't think we're supposed to do that.
Corey (DM):No mowing allowed. Turn back or face punishment.
Corey (DM):Oh, hello there. Well, we're here to help immediately.
As you, like, walk out there and you're saying that you're getting closer, all four of them come from behind the building and they're cheering and shouting and they're like, yeah, they're slapping each other on the back.
Corey (DM):They run up to you, they grab
Corey (DM):your hand, start shaking it.
Corey (DM):Did you see what he did to that, that creep? Those freaking Guardians of Mo, and he took him out.
Corey (DM):We're just out here trying to bring a new balance to this, my butom.
And welcome back, everybody, to another episode of Quest Happens, the podcast where we have fun, tell stories, fight random grass creatures, talk to dads, and make it
Corey (DM):up as we go.
Corey (DM):I am your dm, your wonderful best friend and companion. My name is Corey Keller and I'm joined today by Nick Jackson.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, Nathan Lauren Keller.
Nathan (Stump):Am I supposed to say my last name every time? You guys always say if you.
Lauren (EZ):If you want to be like Cher, then no.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, yeah, yeah.
Corey (DM):You could just be Nathan.
Nick (E'Louie):Then it's Nathan.
Corey (DM):I love how Nick has to like, wind up before he says his name. He's like, take your breath.
Nick (E'Louie):Insane.
Lauren (EZ):It's quite a doozy of a name.
Corey (DM):The complete opposite of his character. El.
Lauren (EZ):Yes.
Corey (DM):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh.
Corey (DM):So what'd you guys think of the last episode? What do you think of the last adventure?
Nathan (Stump):It was great.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, I. I was. I like to stop snooping around in the grass.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, I was.
Nathan (Stump):When we were recording it, I was so afraid I was being, like, really annoying. And then when I listened to it, I was like, oh, it's not that bad.
Lauren (EZ):It's pretty funny. Yeah. I wish I could Be friends with the dads. But I guess it's just not going to work out.
Nick (E'Louie):I'm feeling bad.
Corey (DM):It could be in the stars, you
Nathan (Stump):know, I am anti dads. I don't like these dads.
Lauren (EZ):Oh.
Nick (E'Louie):I was feeling bad that we sicked all the bad people or good people on the bad dads or good dads.
Lauren (EZ):Who knows?
Corey (DM):Could be anything. So why don't we give the listeners a quick recap of what happened last time? If you did listen to the beginning of this episode.
There is a quick recap, but we'll go a little bit deeper here. So last episode, last adventure with all of us together. Yeah. You all just, you know, found the bridges to walk across.
You kind of making some sense of Cindo. Is it seeming really weird, this world you all created?
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, not at all.
Corey (DM):Not at all.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, Totally normal, actually. It seems like with the water running up.
Corey (DM):Yeah, water's running up. Grass you can't really walk through. So you found the bridges to walk, which, you know, they've seemed to have figured this out.
They've built these bridges. You found that stump. You had a crazy nightmare in the middle of the night last episode.
Nick (E'Louie):Shrieking birds or something.
Nathan (Stump):I'm sure nothing will come of that.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, no. And the snoring I thought was funny with easy floating up and down.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah.
Nathan (Stump):That was so good.
Lauren (EZ):Passed out. I got some good slumber.
Corey (DM):You got some good sleep.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):And then you went face to face with the Guardians of Mowing.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, yeah.
Corey (DM):Yeah. They're like these crazy vine grass creatures with a sign that says no mowing where their face is. But the. The mo. The ing is gone.
Just says no mo where their face is. Yeah. Then you met some. Some badass hillbillies. I don't know who they were. They're Boeing dads. Something like that.
Nick (E'Louie):Just normal dads.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah.
Lauren (EZ):Just normal dads that were not wearing cutoffs.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, sorry. I would not let that one go last time.
Corey (DM):He's like, no, they're wearing cutoffs.
Nick (E'Louie):In my head. It was. It was good.
Lauren (EZ):He really would not let it go.
Nick (E'Louie):Multiple times, the DM saying they're not cut off. And they're running with these cutoffs. Sorry about that, dm. I'll try to pay attention better this time.
Corey (DM):Hey, no, they have cutoffs now. It's canon. So they're daisy duking it around their New Balances with their New Balances.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Corey (DM):And then. So last we left off easy, you handed them the ticket saying, you know, this is basically the fine. You know, you've You've been served.
You are in trouble. Here's your ticket. Your violation. They were not happy about that.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, and they gave me a gravity ring, too. I really was a. I wanted to be their friend, but I was just doing my job.
Corey (DM):Yeah, and so, yeah, you're just doing your job.
Corey (DM):You gave.
Nick (E'Louie):The Nazis said.
Lauren (EZ):That's what.
Corey (DM):I literally made that joke.
Lauren (EZ):Cory made that joke on the way here.
Nick (E'Louie):Doing my job, man.
Corey (DM):I was doing my job.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, my gosh. Good Lord.
Corey (DM):And then they ended up, you know, gave you that look, took off running, and then out of nowhere, the alarm goes off from your orb that was leading you to this place. And then out of the grass behind you, rushing in, you saw more of the Mowing Guardians. And then you.
Corey (DM):What was the other thing you all witnessed with them?
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, we witnessed them making some really good meat. We witnessed them wearing New Balance shoes.
Corey (DM):Not. Not the Dads, but the. The group coming in to chase the Dads. So is the movie people we killed? That were a few of them.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):There was a. With that group littered in.
Lauren (EZ):I forgot.
Corey (DM):And you noticed they were wearing, like, official uniforms at this point too?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, they were uniformed up.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, that's right.
Lauren (EZ):Were they wearing New Balances?
Corey (DM):They were not wearing New Balances. They're more Puma people.
Nick (E'Louie):Dang. That's.
Lauren (EZ):They're on the move.
Nick (E'Louie):That's a statement. Yeah, some sort.
Corey (DM):So why don't we pick up from there? You are now in the middle of this circular field that's been cut around this old farmer's home. Like I said, the stripes are pristine.
The people that came in here, these Mowing Dads that were here, the four of them, like, they. This thing is striped. It is beautiful. If that's your thing.
Yeah, they picked up and hauled out of here last you remember, e. You picked up a note that was dropped by one of the Dads. And do you remember what that note was about?
Nick (E'Louie):It had. Was it coordinates? No, what was on the note?
Corey (DM):It was a note basically saying the. The Whiskerlands. It's time. And in two days. Oh, two days, their time has come.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, I remember thinking that and. And thinking that we were quite a ways out to get to the Whiskerlands,
Corey (DM):which you know is where your home is, that they've assigned you in the Whiskerlands. But you all are heading to Tumble, where your town is in the Whiskerlands, because the Whiskerlands is like a region of Sendo.
But yeah, the note was saying in two days, the Whiskerlands Their time has come. And that's kind of where we left off. You're just left surrounded by the grill. Still there.
One of their mowers is still left behind because they took off in a hurry. There's no more sign of these mowing guardians or the. The people. G was on the dmv. Your past victims that were suited up and heading with them.
There's about three of them that were with them suited up, but they. Yeah, they are making the chase after the mowing dads. And so you find yourself here.
Nick (E'Louie):I have a question about the note. Sure did. Does the note. Then they. Someone had dropped the note. The folks who ran after the dads dropped the note.
Corey (DM):No, it was dropped from one of the dads.
Nick (E'Louie):One of the dads dropped the note. Okay. In two days time, your time has come.
Corey (DM):So that note could have been delivered two days ago. It could have been delivered the day you showed up. It could mean two days from now. You're not quite sure. Here, I'll give you this.
Why don't you roll me an investigation? We'll let the dice decide. Why don't you roll me an investigation?
Lauren (EZ):Check E. Yes.
Corey (DM):He's. He's the one with the note.
Nick (E'Louie):I am holding in the Note.
Nathan (Stump):What's that?
Nick (E'Louie):14er.
Lauren (EZ):What's not adding to it?
Corey (DM):All right, 14. So do you have modifier for that?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, I do. Plus two to inside.
Corey (DM):Plus two. So 16 investigation.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, negative one.
Corey (DM):Negative one.
Nick (E'Louie):Pretty much the same thing.
Lauren (EZ):Wow.
Nick (E'Louie):Good thing you checked
Corey (DM):H. You know what I'm going to say that's good enough.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Because they were a little sloppy with how they did this. So I'm gonna say that was good enough. Okay. As you are looking at the notes, you're like checking it out. Like, okay, you're making sure.
Did I miss anything on here? Like, when did they write this? You do see that it is actually dated. You wipe some dirt off. You're like, oh, okay, there's a little bit more here.
You wipe the dirt off of the notes. It was dated that. It is today's date, actually. So it was a memo. It looks more like it was a memo that was maybe passed.
So maybe it was this morning sometime. So that gives you a little bit more clarity on the two days from now. Literally means in two days from now.
Nick (E'Louie):Two days from now. Okay. Yeah.
Corey (DM):But there is also something else you notice on the very bottom of this note as you. Because you started cleaning off that corner, you're like, oh, well, maybe I'm missing something else.
You Start kind of wiping the whole note off because it fell in a bunch of junk. And you notice very small. Like, if you weren't really looking at this, you wouldn't really notice it.
But you do notice at the very bottom of the note, you know, kind of like in those, like, joke cartoons and stuff, where they talk about all the fine line they pull like a microscope and see magnifying glass. You see all the fine print at the bottom of like a contract or something. It kind of catches your eye. Like the.
The ink is a little offset from the paper. And you look at it a little bit closer, you pull it up really close, and this is what you see in scribbled on the bottom, you see the letter R dash.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):You might want to write this down. You see the letter R dash field, the word field. Okay, so R field with a dash, right comma, wwa. With periods.
So it's like W period, W period, A comma, R dash, L dash, L dash, S dash, R dash, S dash, L dash, S. Go back.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. No, I'm ready now. Try it again.
Lauren (EZ):Is this our WI fi password when we get to our home?
Nick (E'Louie):Yep. So r dash field, WWE wwa, wwa,
Corey (DM):r dash, l dash, l dash, s dash, r, r, s, l dash. Piece of cake.
Nathan (Stump):Got it.
Lauren (EZ):That is easy to remember. It rolls off the tongue.
Corey (DM):You just tell that code to anybody if they need it for your WI fi.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):But no, you see that in scribbled
Corey (DM):on the very bottom of this note, very small, to where if you weren't really paying attention, it would just look like an ink blotch or something. But you were like, really looking at this thing, making sure you didn't miss anything. And so it caught your eye and you were able to make that out.
Nick (E'Louie):I have written that entire thing down and am thoroughly confused. But we will find out.
Lauren (EZ):We will.
Nick (E'Louie):We will discern.
Lauren (EZ):We need to make more friends. And then maybe we can ask questions when we encounter them.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, so is it the morning? Are we in the morning?
Corey (DM):So you all had slept the night before, and then you waited till the morning time to come here. So you're at about midday now, after all the conversations you had with the dads and everything that was going on, the sneakiness and everything.
You're about midday, okay?
Nick (E'Louie):And they are running off and folks are chasing them. And I have a note, okay, so we should. I'll let him know. I like. I'm like. He says, look here, I found something. And I show them this note.
Lauren (EZ):Can you read it to me? No, just kidding.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, super easy.
Corey (DM):And you say everything I told you.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Nick (E'Louie):In two days time.
Corey (DM):What did it say?
Nick (E'Louie):It said.
Corey (DM):It said that like the note itself.
Nick (E'Louie):The notes?
Corey (DM):Yeah, the note said the Whiskerlands. Their time has come.
Nick (E'Louie):Their time has come.
Corey (DM):Two days.
Nick (E'Louie):Two days from now. I think some. They're playing these group. This group of dads and their Daisy duke cut off shorts and New Balance planning something.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, so that was their note?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, They were organized in some way.
Lauren (EZ):Can we go ask the grandpa? Do you. I want to give him a hug and a pose.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, the old man. Is there an old man around?
Lauren (EZ):Corey,
Corey (DM):this is a farmer's land. And he is he. Last you saw, he went back inside, but he. This. His cabin is still here. Like this is the cabin they mowed around.
I mean, he was inside his house.
Lauren (EZ):He's probably really mad at us, but like we could go ask and just.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, why not?
Lauren (EZ):And I would like to try to give him a hug maybe.
Nathan (Stump):And we can roll for hug.
Lauren (EZ):Wait, roll for loving.
Nick (E'Louie):So he goes up and kind of knocks on the door and says is.
Lauren (EZ):And I rolled a six.
Nick (E'Louie):Is anyone in there? Wait, are we rolling for hugging?
Corey (DM):You can't roll for a hug. He's not outside.
Nick (E'Louie):So is that a skill? I don't see that skill on my beyond app.
Nathan (Stump):Before we go in there and begin like that scene. Stump is still in the grass.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh yeah, that is true. What's hilarious is E has also completely forgotten the code word.
Corey (DM):Yeah, I think, I think it's the
Nathan (Stump):code word that you said. It was literally come out, come out. Yeah, but you never said those series.
Corey (DM):You just kept saying stop.
Nick (E'Louie):After much thought and consternation and beard caressing, E, Louise says, stump, Stump, come out, please.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, so Stump comes out of the grass. And you know how last time he had that mustache made out of like sticks and mud and stuff?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):Well, now he's got the mustache, but he also has like a trilby and like a raincoat and a briefcase.
And he walks out and he has all those things and like a little mouse comes out of the grass behind him and she's wearing like a little apron and she goes like. And Stump says, what?
Nathan (Stump):No, Stump must leave. Stump already told you. Stump made up his mind. Stump has unfinished business. No, that's not true. Don't say that. You say your mother always loves Tom.
What do you mean?
Nathan (Stump):Did you know married?
Nick (E'Louie):Stop.
Nathan (Stump):Don't say anymore.
Nick (E'Louie):We left him in the grass too long.
Nathan (Stump):One of us will say something we can never take back. There Will always be a place in Stump's heart for you. Goodbye forever.
Nathan (Stump):And then walks over to you guys and he kind of shakes like a dog that just got out of the water and everything comes off of him
Nathan (Stump):and he says hello.
Lauren (EZ):What the heck happened there?
Nathan (Stump):Miss?
Lauren (EZ):Did you. Did you marry a mouse in the time you were in the grass?
Nathan (Stump):Mouse?
Nathan (Stump):You guys look over at the grass. There's no mouse.
Nick (E'Louie):What? Oh, wow. Stomp lad, what have you been doing in there?
Nathan (Stump):Oh, you know, espionage.
Corey (DM):Very curious.
Nick (E'Louie):Classified curious.
Lauren (EZ):It's classified information. Would you like to join us?
Nathan (Stump):Oh, yeah. So Stump here, lots of things go down and you hear running and there was someone that looked kind of like train person that ran by Stump.
We saw them earlier.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, we.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Lauren (EZ):So there was a mouse.
Nick (E'Louie):What?
Lauren (EZ):I mean, I think we need to do like maybe like just a random episode with what happened. Yes.
Corey (DM):Storyline
Nick (E'Louie):six hours after of what Stump did in the grass with the rat family.
Nathan (Stump):But now Stump is. He's like. He wants to get caught up on what happened. He knows that you guys did something. He's not sure. So I guess you guys
Nick (E'Louie):kind of fills you in and fills.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, so mission accomplished. Good job.
Lauren (EZ):Well, thank you.
Nathan (Stump):Time to go get reward.
Lauren (EZ):That's true. We do need to go get a reward. But I think we have some questions to ask.
Corey (DM):Well, you're not before we leave, Stomp.
Nick (E'Louie):But do we really want to go
Corey (DM):and prolong this situation?
Nick (E'Louie):Talk to the old man.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, there is old man here.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, we have a note here and
Corey (DM):it says that something's going down.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, let's Stump see the note.
Nick (E'Louie):Two days time here. Maybe you can make sense of this thing here at the bottom.
Nathan (Stump):Well, to be sure, how about we review it out loud?
Lauren (EZ):Okay, that sounds good.
Nathan (Stump):R dash L dash L dash R S that. Hold on, Stump. Start over.
Lauren (EZ):R D. What?
Corey (DM):And five minutes later.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, that was wonderful. Something. Did you get it all?
Nathan (Stump):This don't make any sense.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. I. Well, I think the old man would know whether he would give us the information. Probably not.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, but we were gonna ask him about this though.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, let's go talk to him.
Corey (DM):Yeah.
Lauren (EZ):So I like it.
Corey (DM):Let's talk to him before we leave.
Lauren (EZ):Do we have any type of peace offering? Offering like maybe a PBR or a.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, I do have my cask with me.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Nick (E'Louie):But unfortunately I haven't been able to fill it up.
Corey (DM):That is true.
Lauren (EZ):That was. Then why did you even offer?
Nick (E'Louie):Well, you know, it's just an idea. Maybe there's beer inside.
Lauren (EZ):Maybe.
Nathan (Stump):Maybe he'd offer Some would like. Would picking a flower count as cutting grass?
Corey (DM):I don't know.
Nathan (Stump):Is that, like, illegal?
Corey (DM):I don't know.
Lauren (EZ):He would probably be really into it, though.
Nathan (Stump):I had the idea of Stump, like, doing the little kid thing of, like, grabbing flowers from his front lawn and
Nathan (Stump):being like, here is a gift for you, Stump find.
Corey (DM):And then, well, his front lawn is technically mowed crisp and clean.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, so there aren't any. There's nothing like that? Of course not.
Nick (E'Louie):It's gonna be awesome when you pull a piece of grass, and Corey's gonna be like. And roll for initiative.
Nathan (Stump):Well, as they say, Stumps presents best present.
Lauren (EZ):That's true.
Nathan (Stump):So how about we just go say hello?
Lauren (EZ):Okay, let's do it.
Nathan (Stump):Maybe he. Nice.
Nick (E'Louie):Great. So we knock on the door.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. And I roll for hugging.
Corey (DM):As you knock on the door, you hear from inside. Just, like, dishes kind of moving around. Who is it?
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, it is Stump, and my name is Eloi.
Corey (DM):And our friend here.
Nick (E'Louie):Easy.
Corey (DM):And we've come to ask you a question.
Corey (DM):I don't want any cookies. I already go to church on Sundays. No, I don't need a new voucher card. And no, I'm. I'm pretty set on my.
In my extended warranty, so you can get off my porch.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, we don't mean to disturb you.
Nathan (Stump):What kind of person wouldn't want cookies?
Lauren (EZ):Oh, that's true.
Nick (E'Louie):Good thought.
Corey (DM):Good thought.
Nick (E'Louie):Stump, we just came to ask you a question. It won't take very much time from
Corey (DM):one old man to another.
Nick (E'Louie):Would you let us speak with you kindly, sir?
Corey (DM):Well, you just called me old, so I don't know if I want to speak with you.
Nick (E'Louie):Come on, now.
Corey (DM):I ain't got nothing to say. I saw he. Look, he. You see him kind of peek through the window. I saw what you all did out there. I ain't got nothing to say to you.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, that's what I. That's what I thought.
Nathan (Stump):So he's.
Nathan (Stump):He's friendly with those dads.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):So. So I'd like to try to persuade him to let us come in and chat with him.
Nathan (Stump):Okay.
Corey (DM):Roll the persuasion check.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, here we go.
Corey (DM):It's a 16. All right. We're gonna roll against.
Lauren (EZ):And can I try?
Nick (E'Louie):So 15?
Corey (DM):No, he's trying right now. We'll see.
Nathan (Stump):Can you just make up a little, like.
Corey (DM):Get out of here with that.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, God, don't even. Never mind. I'm not even gonna say that anyway anymore.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. I don't think we're getting any information.
Corey (DM):You hear him say you're on my property. I have right to kill you if I need to.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, okay. We don't mean any trouble now. I think maybe we'll just let you be and we'll be moving on.
Corey (DM):Okay, that sounds right. Don't you come back here again.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. I feel really bad for that old man.
Nathan (Stump):He's missing out. We're really cool.
Lauren (EZ):I agree.
Corey (DM):And as you all like, turn around and go off the porch, you just hear from the inside, where's my little puppies? Who's hungry?
Nathan (Stump):Grandpa brought you some food.
Lauren (EZ):What?
Nathan (Stump):Oh, he has dogs in there.
Lauren (EZ):He has a. He's a tender heart.
Nick (E'Louie):Are they the eye puppies?
Lauren (EZ):And what's his real voice?
Corey (DM):Yeah. Wait, hold on a second.
Nick (E'Louie):Hold on a second.
Corey (DM):I don't know. Should we, like, people do.
Nick (E'Louie):Do funny voices when they talk to their pets?
Corey (DM):That is true.
Nathan (Stump):I guess we should just leave him alone. I'm tempted to like, go back and try to like, sneak in or something, but.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, my gosh. Sneak in for what? To see the dogs.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, don't you wanna. Don't you wanna see his dogs a little bit?
Nick (E'Louie):Poop on his porch or something?
Nathan (Stump):But I'm also interested in what's going on in like, the forest that everybody ran into. Right.
Lauren (EZ):Or do we go turn in and receive our.
Nathan (Stump):So one of the things I was thinking about is when we first left, our home was four days away.
Corey (DM):Four day travel.
Nathan (Stump):This was one day away.
Corey (DM):Yep.
Nathan (Stump):And the note says two days until from today shit goes down and whisker
Corey (DM):with a skill ends. But you do know, you do know the dmv. You can get to your home through the water in a day. Through the water.
Nick (E'Louie):If we finish a voucher or finish a situation and get.
Lauren (EZ):Or if we.
Corey (DM):What? I say we got paid right away.
Lauren (EZ):You said it was free, Corey.
Corey (DM):I did not say it was free.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, actually, I do remember him saying.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, he could actually check three vouchers
Corey (DM):per rider to take the. The water vessels.
Nathan (Stump):When we gave him the thing, we got like direct deposit pay, right?
Corey (DM):Oh, they pay you immediately upon a completion.
Nathan (Stump):We have money so we could pay to go back.
Corey (DM):You have one voucher. You have one voucher. Easy has zero vouchers. No, sorry. You have zero. You have zero. You have one voucher.
Lauren (EZ):No, until we get back, I haven't spent anything.
Corey (DM):You all only got one voucher for your first quest. You're gonna get two vouchers from this quest.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, so we do anything.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, but.
Corey (DM):So you only have one voucher.
Nathan (Stump):We do have to go back to get paid.
Corey (DM):Yes. You have to turn.
Nathan (Stump):All right.
Corey (DM):You have to go back, report what you found, bring. Bring proof somehow, and then you will get paid your vouchers.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, we have to bring proof somehow. Okay.
Lauren (EZ):How do we bring proof
Nick (E'Louie):and bring some. You know. Yeah, there's.
Corey (DM):Remember there's a mower that was left behind?
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, yeah. So I looked around for something, for a brick. Well, mower. Yeah. Okay.
Nathan (Stump):Do you mean mower like the machine or the man?
Corey (DM):The machine.
Nathan (Stump):Okay.
Lauren (EZ):Man, we should have like, chopped off their foot so we can bring back like their new balance.
Corey (DM):I also forgot you. You hand it. You gave the ticket. So that was your proof because you gave the ticket and it set the alarm and the.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):So technically, yes, you did complete it, but you have to go get your reward now.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Corey (DM):Okay, sorry. You don't have to bring proof because you already were able to turn in the ticket.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):Take them. And then it sent the alarm to gmb. So, yes, you have finished it. You just have to go collect your reward now.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. Next time.
Corey (DM):So basically where you're at now is you can go back to collect your reward. You can try to get to the Whiskerlands now from where you're at. Like you said, you can also go into the woods to see where they went.
Those are kind of your choices.
Nathan (Stump):Are there like more multiple DMVs? Like, if we went to the Whiskers,
Corey (DM):there's one in every region.
Nathan (Stump):So if we went to the Whiskerlands,
Corey (DM):you have to turn in quest in the region that you did it.
Nick (E'Louie):We broke until we get back.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, well, I say. I mean, we gotta go get our money, right? Immediate thing of. We saw the dads run in the woods and they went after him.
I feel like we have to at least go check out what's going on with that man. It's like right there. There's like something happening like right there. Man Stump is like, stop.
Nathan (Stump):So curious.
Lauren (EZ):He's itching.
Nathan (Stump):You say they run into the trees.
Lauren (EZ):Okay, one other question. Do these vouchers expire? So if we do. Okay, so we can go look.
Corey (DM):Voucher is your currency redeem.
Nathan (Stump):You know, just poke our heads in.
Lauren (EZ):So, okay, the tree line and let's go do a little head poke.
Nathan (Stump):Wait, Nick, you look apprehensive.
Nick (E'Louie):No, I'm. I'm wondering how. I'm like, we should put someone on. Are you still floating?
Lauren (EZ):No, I have the. They gave me the ring. They were like my best friends and I betrayed them.
Corey (DM):Dang.
Nick (E'Louie):You're like, thanks for this ring.
Nathan (Stump):They also mischievous.
Nick (E'Louie):Screw you guys over.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, yeah. They thought it was a. A brother or a thanks brother.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. Yeah, I'm okay. We can go check it. So. So Stump is curious and wants to know what's going on.
Corey (DM):Yeah, yeah.
Nathan (Stump):Nathan and Stump are curious.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. And Nathan.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. Lauren is not curious, but easy is.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. All right, let's go check it out. So we're gonna. We're gonna follow. Okay. So Stump is like, okay, we've been knocking on the door.
They've ran across the field.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):And we're hanging out here for minutes. So are we gonna try to run and catch up with them?
Lauren (EZ):I don't think catch up. I think we're just gonna go. We're gonna go take peek.
Nick (E'Louie):Cool.
Lauren (EZ):And just go see.
Nick (E'Louie):So E says, stump, I can tell
Corey (DM):that you're curious about what's happening here. Why don't you take E and throw her up into the air so that she can get an eye on.
Nathan (Stump):You are speaking the language of stomp now.
Nick (E'Louie):You're very strong.
Nathan (Stump):Are you ready?
Lauren (EZ):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):All right. Get on Stump's hand.
Lauren (EZ):And so I just like, kind of scurry up there like a squirrel.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay.
Nathan (Stump):All right, now stomp.
Nathan (Stump):Get closer.
Nathan (Stump):And he, like, walks all the way
Corey (DM):over to the trailer to the edge.
Nathan (Stump):Get ready.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):Roll me a strength check.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Nathan (Stump):I just threw you into danger.
Nick (E'Louie):What were you throwing?
Corey (DM):You throwing straight up.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, straight up.
Corey (DM):Yeah, straight up. So she.
Nick (E'Louie):Wait, we think it stumps like, I'm gonna throw her.
Lauren (EZ):No, no, don't throw me.
Nathan (Stump):I wasn't thinking that. I was thinking, though, straight up the whole time.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah,
Nathan (Stump):that's a nat one.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, gosh.
Lauren (EZ):Can you reroll?
Corey (DM):Okay, so here's what happens.
Nick (E'Louie):Stump throws E. All right, here's what happens.
Corey (DM):So instead of throwing up, like, throwing easy up into the air, you're. You miscalculated. Instead of, like, going underhand up, you went overhand with your throw and you threw forward.
Nick (E'Louie):Easy.
Corey (DM):You were flying into the field, like, way like you got a good throw on this. You're like, easy is much lighter than I thought. You got a nice toss. Easy. You're flying through.
Lauren (EZ):You know, I'm like, picturing like. Like a kind of like a cornfield. Am I just like. Like going through, basically.
Corey (DM):Like, you didn't get, like, hot. You didn't get, like a lob. More of like a pitch. Yeah, it's more of like a fast
Nathan (Stump):pitch that's like, so into the field, not the trees.
Corey (DM):Well, it's not trees.
Nathan (Stump):I'm sorry.
Corey (DM):It's just like, more grass and, like, bush and field area.
Nathan (Stump):The correct visual.
Corey (DM):Sorry about that.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, well, all right.
Corey (DM):So the cornfield is more of a correct visual in sense of, like, how it's just, like, really tall, like.
Nathan (Stump):Gotcha. Gosh.
Corey (DM):And grass. Yeah, but, yeah, you're getting, like. Like shoved through there and, like, a fast pitch instead of a lob.
So you're not really seeing anything, but you're just, like,
Nick (E'Louie):hitting you in the. Yep.
Corey (DM):And you eventually, like, fall and start to roll. And you look all around you, and you notice you're just completely surrounded by tall grass.
You do see a path where that you came from that's kind of been split a little bit. And as you kind of get your bearings, you do notice that there is a path just to your left a little bit where everyone else ran through.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):You don't hear or really see anybody because at this point, they could have gone pretty far.
You didn't get high enough to see, but you do notice a single set of footsteps coming in your direction from the opposite of where you were thrown so deep into the. The field where everyone ran. You do hear just one single set of footsteps coming back towards you. Okay, so whoever it is, someone is coming back.
Lauren (EZ):Okay, well, first I, like, spit all this stuff out that's in my mouth. That. And then, you know, like, I like my nose because just every. It's everywhere.
Nick (E'Louie):Nostril rocket. Yes.
Lauren (EZ):And. And so I hear someone coming towards me. Yeah, I'm.
Corey (DM):I'm like, not. Not sneaky. They're just, like, you know, walking.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. And I'm like.
Corey (DM):With purpose.
Lauren (EZ):And I'm like, crap. And then I. I'm like, I'm not supposed to be here. And so I head back towards my group.
Corey (DM):All right, roll me and roll me an athletics check because you're trying to get up and, like, quickly, and you're surrounded by heavy brush, and you're pretty small, so roll me an athletics check
Lauren (EZ):to see how well grass stains everywhere. Okay. Well, you. What was that?
Corey (DM):Athletics. Athletics.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, okay. It was a five, and I have a plus five. That's, like, one of my best qualities. That's my best skill. So I. I have 10.
Corey (DM):Okay. So not horrible, but not great. Kind of middle of the road here.
And speaking of middle, now, as you, like, you're, like, rushing to get up, but you realize you're making way too much noise trying to hurry up and get up and get back. Absolutely. And by the time you actually get up to start heading back, you. You fumbled a little more Than you thought you would.
You thought you would just like, hop right up and get going, you hear?
Corey (DM):Oh, hello, dear. Are you okay?
Lauren (EZ):Oh, and I just am like. I'm like thinking scrambling like friend or foe. Should I be kind or should I bolt? Or should I. So I'm good. I just put a thumbs up.
Corey (DM):I heard. I heard a nasty, like, fall. Was that you?
Corey (DM):And coming into the clearing, you see it is. You see this uniformed woman walking up to you wearing a pure, like, silver suit.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, gosh.
Corey (DM):Very similar to the uniforms that the murder. This person the war forged were wearing at the place. But she is wearing pretty much the same uniform, very silver, zipped up.
You see on where her name tag is. Let me look at my notes here real quick. Sorry.
Lauren (EZ):Do I recognize this person?
Corey (DM):Hold on.
Nick (E'Louie):You.
Corey (DM):You see that on their. Yeah, a little name tag right here. It doesn't have a name. It just says process server.
Corey (DM):Okay.
Corey (DM):And she.
Corey (DM):And she's like, are you okay?
Corey (DM):And you notice her when you look at her. You know, she is an elderly lady and you recognize her as having an interaction with E on the first day you all arrived here.
Nathan (Stump):It's the old lady that. That's sweet, but that he killed but, like, wouldn't go into detail about why. And probably Satan.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):So she's an older lady and she's wearing the uniform. Silver uniform, zipped up like a onesie almost, you know, and it says process server on the name tag.
Corey (DM):And she reaches down. Oh, let me help you, dear, please.
Lauren (EZ):And I don't. And I don't know this story.
Corey (DM):You don't.
Corey (DM):You don't know her.
Lauren (EZ):Met him yet. Right.
Nick (E'Louie):So he.
Corey (DM):No, he mentioned to you all because you're all like, what was that about?
Lauren (EZ):Okay, so I would put that together.
I just need to know if I'm gonna have the ever living daylight scared out of me by this woman or if I'm just clueless and like, oh, she's really nice.
Nathan (Stump):I think that, you know, there's a connection, but you don't know what it is. The connection between her and Eloue, but you don't know. You just know there's something. And Eloui was weird about it.
Lauren (EZ):And then so I allow her to help me up and I'm like, oh, thank you. I was just messing around with some of my. My pals and. And I landed in here, but I'm okay. How are. How are you?
Corey (DM):Oh, good. Very good.
Nick (E'Louie):We.
Corey (DM):We apprehended the criminals. They are now on their way back to the dmv. And, yeah, I must say thank you for. You know. You must be the new clerks, right?
Lauren (EZ):Yes, that's. That's correct. We're. We're new here.
Corey (DM):And that kind of catches you off guard for a minute. She calls you a clerk, so that's something that kind of sticks out. She's like, you must be one of the new clerks.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):And she said, thank you for processing that.
Corey (DM):And, yeah, we were able to get here. Please, let me. Let me walk you back.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, man. So I'm. I'm be like, okay, this is going to be interesting. That's what I think. And. And I'm like, okay. And she's older than me, right? Oh, yeah.
So I ask if I can assist her in any way.
Corey (DM):And surprisingly, she is, like, spry.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):She still looks like she's 75, 80 years old. Like, she's got the wrinkles, she's shorter. Human woman, but she is, like, standing up. She's, you know, she seems pretty limited.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):And so, yeah, she. She kind of helps you and. And you two begin to walk back to your friends.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. I don't. I don't know enough, so I'm just gonna allow her to kind of come back with me and see what happens, so.
Corey (DM):Absolutely.
Corey (DM):It's a beautiful day, isn't it? Like, it's the smell of the. Just the mist everywhere and the grass. It is just such a lovely smell.
It's such a lovely day, and I just love this world, don't you?
Lauren (EZ):It's been really nice. How long have you been here?
Corey (DM):Oh, we've been here for years. It's our home.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, okay.
Corey (DM):Yeah, I know you are new. How long have you been, like, what part of Zendaya did you grow up in?
Lauren (EZ):Well, I really don't know much. I'm very new, so I really super don't know what's going on just yet,
Corey (DM):but I am very new.
Corey (DM):Well, where did you come from? This is Sendaio.
Corey (DM):Everyone's born here, are they?
Corey (DM):Oh, well, yes. My family's lived here for generations.
Lauren (EZ):Well, and that.
Corey (DM):That's kind of seeming very odd to you because you saw her in the waiting. The DMV waiting room where the processing was.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, yeah.
Corey (DM):But roll me a history check.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. Oh, boy. Okay. Oh, goodness. Okay, we're gonna use a different dice this evening. I. A4.
Nick (E'Louie):A4.
Nathan (Stump):Excuse me.
Corey (DM):I just want to see what you rule. I mean, did you say your character is a smarter, intelligent character or not so much?
Lauren (EZ):I. So I have a plus zero for intelligence. I have a negative One for wisdom.
Corey (DM):Okay, then you probably wouldn't have remembered much from that day. So I'm not going to give you anything then. Okay, Never mind.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. Yeah.
Corey (DM):So I her talking about being here forever and growing up generations. It doesn't click to you. All it clicks is like, why I was just, I was just arrived here a day ago.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. So I feel like I would probably think that I'm the odd one out here. And I'm like, oh, no, I. I don't know. But I, I'm.
But I'm happy to be here and I've enjoyed my time and, and oh, here's my stop.
Corey (DM):As you and this lady come into the clearing, you know, you walk out, you two are still standing. Well, you were still at the edge, like, what happened? You know, he is like, what in
Corey (DM):the blimey hills did you do that for?
Nathan (Stump):Well, that didn't work.
Nick (E'Louie):You just threw her.
Nathan (Stump):You want to go.
Nick (E'Louie):You threw a straight through all the brush.
Nathan (Stump):I know, it's.
Corey (DM):What are you thinking?
Nathan (Stump):Kind of impressive, really.
Corey (DM):But it's finished.
Nick (E'Louie):Strong throw.
Corey (DM):And in the middle of that conversation, almost like spookingly, because you weren't. You didn't hear them coming. But you see easy come through the grass.
And then two seconds, two seconds behind her, you see this old lady in a uniform walk back and E. You immediately recognize her.
Nick (E'Louie):E, like quick as lightning, just like steps behind stuff stops, like looking back and he's kind of trembling. He's like, he's like kind of holding
Corey (DM):the back of your leg a little
Nick (E'Louie):bit and he's just kind of shaking and he's like, like stomp, stomp.
Corey (DM):We need to get out of here now.
Nathan (Stump):Is this your grandma? Hello, elui's grandmother.
Corey (DM):No, no. So she starts to say, oh, well, hello. Do you remember this lady's name?
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah. So. So from where, where E comes from, they referred to her as Malnag.
Corey (DM):Malnag?
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, man, she's like. I can't remember what they're called. Are they called hags? Like an old, like, she's like witch.
Nick (E'Louie):It's like that.
Nathan (Stump):Oh man, she's.
Corey (DM):She's, she's a dark sorceress from what you remember.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):So she, she walks out, she notices like you're talking and you start saying, hello, east friends.
Nathan (Stump):Stump is like shaking her hand with, with his thumb and index finger, like, on her whole hand, like, shaking.
Nathan (Stump):He's like, hello. What is your name? I love your grandson.
Corey (DM):Oh, well, my name is Maleficent. Very nice. Nice to meet you.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, Maleficent.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Corey (DM):Very nice to meet you. Yes, I am one of the process servers. Thank you all so much. I saw you talking to somebody.
Corey (DM):Who are you talking to?
Corey (DM):This E you speak of?
Nathan (Stump):Well, he's your boy.
Corey (DM):My boy.
Corey (DM):Do you step out of the way?
Nathan (Stump):Your grandmother magnificent is here to see you.
Nick (E'Louie):So Eek slowly peeks around, and there is no more smile on his face as usual. And he's just kind of staring and he says, hello.
Corey (DM):Hello.
Corey (DM):Oh, hello. Very nice to meet you. I am Maleficent.
Corey (DM):And she reaches her hand out to shake.
Corey (DM):And I hear your name is.
Corey (DM):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):And he slowly reaches up with a shaking, trembling hand and he's like, hello.
Corey (DM):So you, like, touch and shake hands. And for an instant, like when you shake her hand, like you just even more of those memories are just flooding back from your past.
And it's almost like the more connections and pieces you piece together in this world, the faster your memories flood back. And you're shaking your hand and she's smiling at everyone.
And then she slowly, in the middle of the smiling at everyone, just almost has this quizzical look to her face as she's shaking your hand. And for just a moment, you feel like she is staring into your soul.
And you're worried that maybe she's connecting the dots is kind of what it seems like for you. This feels like this is going on for 10 minutes.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):She's piercing into your soul and she's like, you know, head kind of tilting, really focus. But to you all, it seems like it was just a quick little shaking of the hand and back to conversation.
But you're having this whole, like 10 minutes and your time is slowed down. You're just staring.
Nick (E'Louie):Blown. Yeah. His mind is being blown.
Corey (DM):And what is something about you that no one would really know?
Nick (E'Louie):E. About E.
Corey (DM):Well, at least that these two don't know about you.
Nick (E'Louie):They wouldn't. They may not know. Hopefully. They may not have picked up on that. E really performs best when his oak cask is full of beer.
Corey (DM):Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Lauren (EZ):Don't we all?
Corey (DM):Okay. And so she.
Nick (E'Louie):And that he. That E, in time of need and trouble, can use his war gong to inspire him and in battle.
Corey (DM):Nice.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, so neither of us know that he's a functioning alcoholic.
Corey (DM):Correct. Okay.
Nathan (Stump):And has a dope ass war gong.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Okay. So in this moment, she. She, you know, begins to thank you all and. And like I said, for you to stump and easy.
This seems like just a split second of, like, her saying hi to E. And just like, back to normal Conversation E. When you look at E during this conversation, too, E is just like, stone cold, like, white.
Lauren (EZ):He's different.
Corey (DM):Oh, absolutely no smile. Looking super silly.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Yeah. And so she just continues to say,
Corey (DM):like, thank you all so much for your help with the dmv. Like, this has been wonderful. You did this very quickly. We were able to apprehend. They've already are on their way back to the dmv.
I mean, one of them got away. We were able to nab three of them, but it was great. We're really cracking down on crime. I am heading back to the DMV now.
Don't forget to go back there and collect your rewards.
Corey (DM):And you see her reaching her pocket, and she pulls out this stone. It's very, like, smooth. It looks like a river rock. So it's not, like, perfectly spherical. It's a little flat and wide, like a good skipping rock.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah.
Corey (DM):She holds it in her hand and she touches it to her forehead. And the stone begins to light up. And you notice she's starting to get a little bit translucent.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, are you leaving?
Corey (DM):Oh, yes. This is my traveling stone.
Nathan (Stump):Tinkos with you.
Corey (DM):Sorry, it's one person only.
Nathan (Stump):But Stump, like, grabs her cheeks.
Corey (DM):Her face on her face, on her face. Cheeks stunk a whiff.
Nathan (Stump):And everybody grabs.
Corey (DM):You're kind of like, going through her face. She's basically turned into ghost mode.
Corey (DM):Oh, sorry.
Corey (DM):Yeah. These are standard issue for the process servers.
Corey (DM):This is how we get to and fro from places.
Corey (DM):It's kind of like our quick travel. And she's starting to fade a little bit more.
Corey (DM):Yeah. Sorry I can't take you with me. But, hey, if you ever become process
Corey (DM):server, you can get one of these.
Corey (DM):And she looks at you, E. And she's like, e. It's good to see that you've laid off the sauce after all these years.
Nick (E'Louie):Thank you.
Corey (DM):I look forward to seeing you again.
Corey (DM):And she disappears. Oh, Lord.
Nick (E'Louie):He just, like, falls on his rear. He just, like, sits down, like, totally just like. How? What? What's going on?
Lauren (EZ):I go and sit next to you. Well, first I look at Stump and I'm like, what the heck, man? Oh, yeah.
Nathan (Stump):Stump's stronger than Hindo, I guess.
Lauren (EZ):And. And so that hurt. And. But it's okay. It's okay.
Nathan (Stump):Stomps bad.
Lauren (EZ):Yes, you are very strong. And then I go and sit next
Corey (DM):to E. E. Yeah. So E, this is the. This is the first time, really, any of you have noticed that someone else has recognized you.
Like, actually has called you out for something that they Wouldn't know unless their memories came back, you know, because as far as you know, they were getting uploaded with new identities. And the reason you all didn't get new identities because you're anomalies.
And something happened in the code, but they were supposed to be getting new identities. But she mentioned something about you, that there was no reason, but you knew about her. But now for some reason, she's connected the dots.
Instead of maybe, I don't know, acting out, she just kind of gave you a subtle little, I know what's going on, and disappeared.
Nick (E'Louie):So he's just kind of sitting there, just staring off in the distance, and he's like, how.
Corey (DM):How could this be?
Corey (DM):So you find yourselves now. Yeah. Consoling E. And like I said, this is also the first time we've noticed that anyone's really had any form of connection.
Also, something you may have picked up on.
This is the reason maybe they got here so fast when the alarm went off, is now that these stones make sense, these traveling stones, they got here pretty quick.
Lauren (EZ):So I ask you, like, hey, buddy, like, what's.
Nick (E'Louie):What's.
Lauren (EZ):What's going on? Like, And I'm like, you know, patting your back and. And. And then maybe I like, touch your beard a little bit because I know you. You do that.
Corey (DM):So I kind of get you thinking
Lauren (EZ):I just like impoking your beard and patting your back and. And so I ask, like, do you know her?
Nick (E'Louie):So he says, well, I just can't
Corey (DM):imagine how it happened. You see, I come from a world called Freyja. It was there in that world that I was a part of a monastery.
We had sworn ourselves to thoughtfulness, serenity and peace, to care and nurturing our world to the people around us. But slowly, a great evil crest into our universe. And every nook and cranny it seemed, of our world.
The source of this evil was a great and terrible sorceress, the very same one that we have seen. The name for her we called the Mound. You see, I'm a very old, old dwarf. And even though we had been sworn
Nick (E'Louie):to peace, we began to see that
Corey (DM):no foe that came against Malnag could prevail. There came a time so dark. A large group of us, of us monks, we decided to break our oaths in order to protect all that we good in Freya.
We vowed to use our key, our focus that we had to mend the things and turn them into a great power to break Malnag and her followers. And I tell you the craziest thing that fella there Said, well, I'm gathering that we were responsible for the deaths of this.
Nick (E'Louie):Didn't know that I was responsible for her death.
Lauren (EZ):Oh my gosh. That's pretty powerful, right?
Corey (DM):I'm confused.
Nick (E'Louie):I don't know what happened. I'm glad she's dead.
Corey (DM):But how did I end up in
Nick (E'Louie):the world with her?
Lauren (EZ):And she seems to remember you a little.
Nathan (Stump):Stump never knew his grandma, so kind of hard to relate.
Nick (E'Louie):She's not my grandmother.
Corey (DM):Well, she's an evil nag.
Nathan (Stump):What does this have to do with your grandma? I don't understand.
Corey (DM):I. This is true, lad. You don't understand.
Nathan (Stump):Well, that is true.
Nathan (Stump):Stump will help you, however Stump can.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, thank you kindly, Stump. You've got a very kind heart or thank you. And very big head.
Lauren (EZ):And a lot of strength in your hands, in your arms.
Nathan (Stump):Did you take damage from that?
Corey (DM):Oh, you didn't take any damage?
Lauren (EZ):That's a good question.
Corey (DM):No, it was kind of projectile where you were going so fast forward and this kind of.
Nathan (Stump):The grass is soft.
Corey (DM):It was kind of softening your blow as you went forward. So you find yourself still here in the middle of this field for the past 40 minutes and just kidding.
Nick (E'Louie):We better get move on.
Corey (DM):No, I love the story. I love story. Story rich depth happening here.
Nathan (Stump):So I really enjoyed that little backstory about you, Louis.
Lauren (EZ):Oh yeah, that was well done.
Corey (DM):And now let's take a minute to hear from our sponsor.
Nathan (Stump):Is your gravity acting quirky again?
Lauren (EZ):Find yourself drifting sideways during breakfast?
Nick (E'Louie):Or did your neighbor miss a payment? And now your living room thinks down as north?
Corey (DM):Well, try Gravitease, the DMV's premium gravity subscription. For a weekly subscription of just one voucher, we'll keep your personal gravity stable, consistent and almost always functional.
Nathan (Stump):That's right. Let's hear from a happy customer.
Lauren (EZ):Before Gravities, I floated in my ceiling fan three times a week. Now I only float when I want to. Oops, my trial expired.
Nick (E'Louie):Tired of floating pets, Gravity?
Corey (DM):Tired of chasing your groceries along the ceiling?
Nathan (Stump):Gravities, Sign up now and get a free fall where you want. Token gravity.
Corey (DM):Bringing gravity back to you. So you find yourself in the middle of this field. You've kind of explained your connection to Malnag, or Maleficent as she calls herself.
And there's that connection there. And you're just kind of like trying to wrap your head around all of this and what to do. And now you have this to worry about.
And she works for the DMV that you also now technically kind of work for. Yeah. So it's like, okay, what do you do now? Are you all gonna head back to the DMV to turn in your quest? So are you gonna do something else?
Nathan (Stump):Can we afford the water thing back? That's, like, the only way we can get back quickly, right. Is the water tube.
Corey (DM):You get this. This quest is two vouchers. So you will have. Lauren easy will have three vouchers. At the end of returning this in, you will have two.
You will have two. You can also sell things. There's. There's different ways to also get vouchers from the DMV besides just turning in quest.
Nick (E'Louie):We could sell.
Nathan (Stump):Let's take the mower. Let's rob this old man blind. Oh, yeah, that wouldn't let us see his puppies and sell all of his crap.
Corey (DM):All right, so what do you all want to do?
Lauren (EZ):That's what I was gonna ask.
Nick (E'Louie):That's what I was gonna ask.
Nathan (Stump):Well, I think we all kind of want to go get paid.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, I. I want to make sure that he is okay and that he's gonna, like, do we need to be mindful of anything? Like, if we come across her again, like, how should we.
Nick (E'Louie):I think he's just kind of processing, and he's, like, super surprised, and he is. Is trying to understand that this is not exactly the same person.
Corey (DM):But then how could it not be, you know?
Lauren (EZ):Well, just keep us, like, updated.
Nathan (Stump):Stop. Know what will help you? Ilui. We go back, we get paid, and we buy your grandma something nice.
Nick (E'Louie):Blimey. Easy.
Corey (DM):Could you help me with this one?
Lauren (EZ):Let's go, like, get paid and then go to the bar.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, that'll do.
Lauren (EZ):Okay, let's go do it.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, why don't we hustle back? So he says, why don't we take the motor?
Corey (DM):At least we'll have something.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, you want to bring more handed?
Corey (DM):And also, the only other valuable thing is the gravity ring that easy got.
Lauren (EZ):I am. I'm not selling that.
Nathan (Stump):Why not?
Lauren (EZ):Why don't you guys sell yours?
Nathan (Stump):You didn't want ring in first place.
Lauren (EZ):I didn't know you want ring for. I didn't want to pay for it, and I got one. So how about you guys give yours up?
Nathan (Stump):Why don't you steal another ring after we sell?
Lauren (EZ):I didn't steal this.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, now why don't we get back to the DMV and find out what they'll pay us for the lawnmower?
Lauren (EZ):I think we'll be.
Nick (E'Louie):If we need to sell the gravity rings to get home quickly, maybe we'll do that.
Lauren (EZ):I think we'll be heroes trying to turn in a lawnmower. So hopefully, you know, they'll be like,
Nick (E'Louie):I like the way you think.
Lauren (EZ):Yes. So let's go do that.
Nick (E'Louie):Taking the lawnmowers out of the world. Yeah, maybe they'll pay for those.
Nathan (Stump):Okay, this good idea to stop picks up the lawnmower.
Nick (E'Louie):Would you like to see if you can keep up with an old man?
Corey (DM):And here's where we'll start. The music montage.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, hey, wait for. Stop. Hey, get back here, silly. Ha.
Corey (DM):Oh.
Nathan (Stump):Stomp. Drop mower.
Nick (E'Louie):Ow.
Nathan (Stump):Land on stomp, stone.
Corey (DM):What was that?
Lauren (EZ):Y.
Corey (DM):We're back. All right, you all find yourselves with our wonderful montage. We've skipped so much of the day. You find yourselves.
Nick (E'Louie):You.
Corey (DM):You picking up now that you kind of know where to go. Like, you picked up your pace. You got back right when it's, you know, it's dark now. So what should have taken you a day. You got there much faster.
You picked up the pace. You knew exactly where to go this time, back. Followed your same route.
So you find yourself now at the Sindeo Capital dmv here in the verdant sprawl as you make your way back into the dmv. Yeah, you notice that this time, from the outside, you actually see the doors that go in.
But you remember when you're in the inside the dmv, you don't see the doors that go out. As you open the doors into this dmv, you find yourself in that same waiting room. And this time, the waiting room is empty.
There's actually no people sitting waiting to be processed. So all those people that were here are now out in the world somewhere.
Nathan (Stump):Where's. Darn. What's his name? Finch?
Corey (DM):And as soon as you say that, coming around the corner from behind the door, which you know, the desks still have those warforged. The axioms are still behind their man behind their desk. And you see Finch come out.
Corey (DM):He's like, oh, I, I, I. I thought you all were getting close to being turning in. Oh, welcome, welcome, welcome back.
Corey (DM):He's still the same fidgety. Yeah, Finch, he was.
Corey (DM):It's so you. I. I got the. The notification that you. You. You did give them the. The citation, correct?
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Nathan (Stump):Stump comes up and goes, ha.
Nathan (Stump):And then some.
Nathan (Stump):And he slams the mower on the desk.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, my God.
Corey (DM):Oh, my goodness. That is illegal.
Lauren (EZ):Oh.
Corey (DM):Where did you get this?
Lauren (EZ):That's why we're turning it in.
Nick (E'Louie):We confiscated it, didn't we?
Corey (DM):Yeah, that Is so wonderful. They're going to be so happy to see that not only did you cite them for mowing illegally, but you actually took one of their.
Their tools of destruction, one of these weapons of mass destruction from them.
Nick (E'Louie):Good job, everyone.
Corey (DM):That is wonderful. And you see him plot his clipboard and he starts writing a note down.
Corey (DM):I am adding this to your permanent records. Oh, this is wonderful.
Nathan (Stump):So how many more vouchers is that?
Corey (DM):Oh, yes, payment. Okay, so you gave that.
Corey (DM):Okay, so let's start here. You gave the citation.
Corey (DM):So upon completion of your. You are now going to get two vouchers each.
Corey (DM):And you hear them like, two for you, two for you, two for you.
Corey (DM):Let me update your reputation. Okay?
Corey (DM):Your reputation has been updated like a million vouchers.
Lauren (EZ):I don't know about that, buddy.
Nathan (Stump):Look at how big this mower is.
Corey (DM):Okay, let's see this mower. Oh, let's see. Okay, this is perfect. Let me.
Corey (DM):Okay, you know what? Two more vouchers for you. Two more vouchers for you and two more vouchers for you.
Corey (DM):Two voucher bonus for bringing in this weapon of mass destruction.
Nathan (Stump):Yes, for a weapon of mass destruction tool vouchers.
Corey (DM):Well, you all are still just entry level clerks. I mean, I can't pay you the full amount.
Nathan (Stump):Who is clerk?
Nick (E'Louie):We'll get this to our home now, Stump, so maybe we're. Okay.
Corey (DM):Should I. Should I explain the rules of the being the quest and the clerks for you? Okay, I know I didn't go into
Corey (DM):full detail, but this is the second
Corey (DM):quest you've completed, correct?
Corey (DM):Okay, so the way this works, the
Corey (DM):more quests you complete.
Corey (DM):If you.
Corey (DM):Once you complete three quests, you are
Corey (DM):officially clerks and clerks meaning now you
Corey (DM):are registered with the dmv. And so any job you do will now give bonuses.
Corey (DM):And after you become clerks, you can now take tiers two and three.
Nathan (Stump):We are not clerk right now.
Corey (DM):No, you are pre clerks. You were entry level clerks.
Nathan (Stump):Pre clerk can still get you pregnant. Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, my God.
Corey (DM):You must complete one more quest to become actual clerks. Right now, you're just entry level clerks.
Corey (DM):And we also have process servers, which are our enforcers that are out in the world. Now, as far as reputation goes, you will have a permanent file within the DMV that will maintain your reputation across the world.
The more good you do, the higher your reputation. Your reputation actually comes in tiers. There's good reputation and there's bad reputation. Good reputation are 1 through 12.
At rank one, you are a commoner, which is what you all are. Congratulations. You all are commoners.
Corey (DM):As far as your reputation, well, thanks.
Corey (DM):That is on the good side of the scale because it does go negative. Negative is your bad reputation. Get it? Negative, bad. Once you reach tier three, you become cooperative. That is your reputation in the world.
Once you get to tier five, that you become an ally in the world. Tier eight, you become heroes amongst Zendayo.
Corey (DM):And if you get to tier 12 with your reputation, which, trust me, no
Corey (DM):one's gotten to 12, you become legends.
Lauren (EZ):Wow.
Nathan (Stump):Well, I mean, Finch, it. Hey, remember Stomp?
Corey (DM):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):Remember?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Corey (DM):Anomaly.
Corey (DM):Yes, I remember.
Nathan (Stump):You see, Stump, very important in the Molly. So maybe bump stomp up to level eight hero right now.
Corey (DM):I can't do that. You have to do that, Right?
Nathan (Stump):Donut or two?
Lauren (EZ):The donuts we don't have. Have.
Corey (DM):Don't. I don't know what these donuts are you speak of. I'm sorry.
Corey (DM):I can't just throw you up.
Corey (DM):You have to complete quests and do good things to raise your reputation.
Corey (DM):If you do bad things, I will
Corey (DM):have to mark off your reputation.
Lauren (EZ):Is there a way to get one of those little travel doodads without.
Corey (DM):Are you holding your. Up your hand up while you talk like that?
Lauren (EZ):Of course.
Corey (DM):So Lauren right now is in care. In person. While she's talking is, like, raising her hand. And like, while she talks. So in character.
Nick (E'Louie):Easy.
Corey (DM):If you're raising your hand like that, Finch notices something on your hand. On your ring finger.
Nick (E'Louie):Son of a.
Lauren (EZ):No, I used the other hand.
Nick (E'Louie):Too late.
Nathan (Stump):You used your ring hand.
Lauren (EZ):It would be on my right hand.
Corey (DM):So as you raise. As you raise your hand to use your hands to talk, he notices the gravity ring on your hand and he's like.
Corey (DM):Excuse me. Easy. I believe you are in possession of forged property.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, yes, I remember. Easy. You said you'd bring it back to sell it so you could buy one, you know, legitimately.
Nathan (Stump):What are you talking about? Guys gave her the ring, right?
Nick (E'Louie):Well, that's right. She got it from them. Well done.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, it was just like the mower. You're right. And then I take.
Nathan (Stump):This is weird stumping feel like.
Lauren (EZ):And I take it off and I try to interrupt. I'm like, here you go. And I try to interrupt. Stump. Okay, yeah, I'm talking.
Corey (DM):So as you're trying to, like, talk to these things, they're trying to, like. Oh, stop.
Corey (DM):No, don't say don't.
Corey (DM):Don't give away too much.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, you.
Corey (DM):You give the rings.
Corey (DM):Oh, thank you.
Corey (DM):Thank you. There's so many of these forged gravity rings out There.
Corey (DM):They're trying to get free gravity.
Corey (DM):We can't have them getting free gravity.
Corey (DM):You have to pay for your gravity.
Corey (DM):So he takes this and he puts it in this lock box for your troubles. And he hands you one more voucher.
Lauren (EZ):Well. And then I hand it back. To get a gravity ring.
Corey (DM):Oh, yes, of course, yes.
Corey (DM):You have to have a government issued gravity ring. He gets it and he like, waves it on the stone again, loads it up, it lights up and he says,
Corey (DM):here's your official DMV gravity ring.
Lauren (EZ):And you can trust us with, you know, like, I don't know. What's the word? I'm trying to think.
Nick (E'Louie):Contraband.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. Turning in contraband.
Corey (DM):Yes, please. Any contraband you find in the world, turn it into dv.
Corey (DM):You will get bonuses. So, yeah, we have to take all that off the streets.
Corey (DM):You know, we can't have any of
Corey (DM):that unofficial DMV products out there.
Nathan (Stump):So out of character here. How are we feeling about these guys? Because I was gonna suggest that we show Finch the note with codes and everything.
But, like, are these guys do we want now? I'm like, conflicted.
Nick (E'Louie):So I was gonna ask if this means anything without actually showing than the note so that we could keep the note.
Lauren (EZ):If you are as slick as you were with that ring business, then, like,
Nathan (Stump):is there a way that we could frame it to where it would be a role? That could be maybe a persuasion or a performance to get him to give us information without us actually giving anything away.
That's something we could do.
Lauren (EZ):I have plus two for performance.
Corey (DM):I will say whatever you. If you are trying to go this route, make sure you word everything correctly and tell me exactly in detail what you want to do. So.
Nathan (Stump):Because I know that I've been kind of like, yeah, let's help the DMV and screw these dads. But, like, we don't really know.
Nick (E'Louie):We don't know.
Lauren (EZ):We're babies here.
Nathan (Stump):Things are not so black and white in Sendo.
Nick (E'Louie):So I think. So I was kind of thinking about maybe just mentioning, you know, something like we in passing, we saw R field, W dot,
Nathan (Stump):weird.
Nick (E'Louie):Does that mean anything to you?
Nathan (Stump):Some kind of board of bill, A billboard, if you will have these numbers.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah. So I'm just gonna. I think I was gonna ask him a. Not like an offhand and say, well,
Corey (DM):hey, Finch, do you happen to know
Nick (E'Louie):what R dash field wwe?
Lauren (EZ):So I think I should do that because your charisma is not good. Right.
Nathan (Stump):You're good at that.
Lauren (EZ):And I have a plus two for Performance. But I have a plus zero for charisma.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, I'm not. I'm not good.
Nick (E'Louie):No, nobody's risen here. Nobody's risen.
Nathan (Stump):No, I don't have any. Riz.
Corey (DM):Yeah. So who wants to ask the faithful?
Lauren (EZ):So just tell me what to say, and I will say it.
Nick (E'Louie):Can I slide of hand? Ask him. No fix on the slide. Okay. Yeah. I think you ought to just let him know that we. We happened to pass. We saw a little.
Someone had written down on a post somewhere.
Lauren (EZ):Well, I'd probably just be like, do these letters, numbers and letters, though.
Corey (DM):And, like, do you write it on a separate piece of parchment?
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):Maybe write down, say, hey, we found this note, and then said. Yeah, hand it to him.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. So on a separate piece of paper, that's what I hand.
Nick (E'Louie):So.
Lauren (EZ):Okay, let's do that. Sound good?
Corey (DM):All right. Say exactly what you want to keep.
Nick (E'Louie):We want to keep that. This one. Yes. In case we have to go into a secret meeting or something.
Nathan (Stump):We're trying to play both. Both sides until we know a little bit more.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Play football teams.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Okay. Yeah. Tell me exactly what you're going to say before you roll.
Lauren (EZ):So I hand. So I asked. I say, finch, do these. Does this mean anything to you? And I hand over the paper.
Corey (DM):The second piece that you write just the code on.
Lauren (EZ):Just the code?
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Or is it a code? Yeah. So you write it on there? Yeah. You say, do you know what this is? You hand it to Finch. Finch looks at it.
Corey (DM):I'm not really good at guessing games. I don't know. You say you found this somewhere.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):In what context?
Lauren (EZ):So when we were gathering things to return to the dmv.
Corey (DM):Gathering things from where?
Lauren (EZ):The. The place we were at. The. The lawn. The farm.
Nick (E'Louie):There.
Corey (DM):Oh, where the violation was.
Lauren (EZ):Yes. So we were there, and we found this. And.
Corey (DM):Oh, so this. This belonged to the. The violators.
Lauren (EZ):Yes. But this is all that we have, is this code. Do you know anything?
Corey (DM):Oh, and he.
Corey (DM):He's, like, looking at it. The first thing he does is he holds it up to light. Second thing he does is he, like. Like, gets.
Lights a little a stick off a torch and, like, holds heat under it and begins to, like, move it around. He's trying all these different tricks to the paper rather than just looking at what's written on it.
And nothing seems to happen because, you know, you wrote it on a separate piece of parchment.
Corey (DM):So he's like, well, there doesn't seem to be any, like, hidden clues or hidden messages on this. If they Were trying to speak, like send off secret messages. It doesn't seem to be working.
Corey (DM):So the secret, if it is, is
Corey (DM):a message, it must be within these letters. They seem to just signify something. I, for the life of me, I do not know exactly what this is at all.
Corey (DM):I mean, I can study it, but
Corey (DM):I, I really don't know what this is. I mean, our field. Does that mean right field? Do they play games, right field?
Nick (E'Louie):World Wrestling Association.
Corey (DM):Yeah, I mean, our field also.
Corey (DM):It could.
Corey (DM):Oh, is this. Oh, our field. That could also maybe mean Rumfield. That's the capital of the Whiskerlands.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, that's where we live.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, well.
Corey (DM):Well, you don't live in Rumfield, but you do live in the Whiskerlands.
Corey (DM):Yes.
Corey (DM):You live in Tumble.
Nathan (Stump):Silly stump knew that.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):I mean, it could be Rumfield. It could be Wrightfield, Redfield.
Lauren (EZ):I don't really know. Is there baseball?
Corey (DM):What's baseball?
Lauren (EZ):Oh, okay, never mind.
Nathan (Stump):It's like you have a ball, huh? And then there are bases.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, I think it's time for us to decide what we want to do. So E is like, all right, what
Corey (DM):do we want to do now?
Nick (E'Louie):We can either go get another voucher.
Corey (DM):No, we don't need one.
Nick (E'Louie):We just get in the tube and
Corey (DM):we go down the river.
Corey (DM):Yeah, you all need to also keep track of your vouchers because I'm not keeping track of those. Remember how many you have.
Lauren (EZ):Right. I think we need to figure that out. I think it's tube time Time.
Corey (DM):It's two times. This will be your first time taking the water, dude.
Nick (E'Louie):Right.
Corey (DM):That or the Aqua tube. Some people call it the Aqua Tube,
Corey (DM):some call it just the tube.
Corey (DM):We just call it the tube around here. Yeah, yeah.
Corey (DM):So which, which. Where do you want to head?
Corey (DM):Are you heading home?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, we want to go.
Nathan (Stump):Do you have like a wide tube?
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah. It'll fit you, don't worry. Okay, so are we heading to the
Corey (DM):Whiskerlands to tumble to your homes?
Corey (DM):I, I'm sure you're ready. I'm sure you're ready to get to your home.
Corey (DM):Okay, so what you're going to do is you're going to go back down
Corey (DM):this hallway where you all originally first, you know, did your, Your quest for us. You're going to take. Take the second right and then you'll see some stairs that go up. And make sure you get on the.
Corey (DM):What is this?
Corey (DM):The, the, the west. The west platform. And that will be the tube. And then you'll pick which town in the Whiskerlands you want to go to when you get up there.
So you kind of sends you off.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah.
Corey (DM):So you all still have your gravity rings. Now you easy has one that's fully charged up and it's actually official DMV gravity ring. You all have six days left on yours.
You have a full week left on yours. And so you make your way, you know, down the pathways. You get up the stairs to the platform. You see the water tube. It's a.
It's a steel door that you slide open. You slide that door open and you all walk in here. Close you behind you, and you see this. It's like a wooden ship.
Has enough seating for about five people on it.
Nathan (Stump):Okay.
Corey (DM):And it. I don't know if you played Minecraft and you take like the rafts over ice for fast travel in Minecraft. It's. It's very similar to that.
So you're on the ship. It's just on the long straight tube of water.
Nick (E'Louie):Sweet.
Corey (DM):And there's five seats on it. And you see there's four levers
Lauren (EZ):and
Corey (DM):it says, you know the Whiskerlands. And it's taking you to the fourth, like, major areas you can pick to go to. Because it can't take you to every town in the Whiskerlands.
It takes you to hubs. So the first one says Tville, and that's a lever you can pull. Second one says Rumfield and it also says capital city of the Whiskerlands.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):The next one is Philotopia. Sorry, Felinetopia. Someone else make up a pun.
Lauren (EZ):Cat Cats. Stan Bull.
Corey (DM):Oh, like that? Cat Stam. Bull. Okay, we're going to go with that. Okay, so, yeah. Which lever are you all pulling?
Whichever lever you pull will direct the water to that area.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, definitely the. The tum field. Well, yeah, yeah.
Corey (DM):He's like, that's where we live is. That's where your home is.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Nathan (Stump):All right.
Nick (E'Louie):Every.
Nathan (Stump):All aboard.
Corey (DM):All right. So you pull on Tumbill.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, Tumbill.
Corey (DM):And this water just begins to, like, fill up even more because there's already water holding the ship up. But the water kind of fills up the tube a little bit more and it's like, oh, wait, are we gonna get, like, crushed in this tube?
But eventually it stops and you just begin to feel something behind you begin to like, almost sounds like a motor. It's like
Nick (E'Louie):cranking up
Nathan (Stump):and it just
Corey (DM):keeps getting louder and louder.
Nick (E'Louie):Easily holds on to something.
Lauren (EZ):I hold on to stuff jumps like.
Corey (DM):And you just feel this gust of wind. From behind you and it just pushes your, your craft really fast down this water.
And it's almost just like all that pressure is condensed into this tube, you know, so there's just so much pressure pushing behind you that it is almost like. Yeah, warp drive and how you feel it and you're, you're going so fast. You see yourself just taking all these quick turns down this giant water slide.
Water tube slide. And this is. Yeah, this is the fast travel around Sandeo. It's, it's connected to all the DMVs.
So it takes you to all the hubs where all the DMVs are located and the way it works. Yeah, you just get there so super fast. And about 30 minutes goes by, right.
And you were just like holding on like, oh, eventually, eventually you, you start to settle and get the feeling for this and it's like, okay, I'm, I'm starting to get used to this. And after that 30 minutes you just feel this as the pressure releases and you begin to slow down.
And you see one of those like little sticks that come up with like a plank sign on it and it says tumble as you can. You hear this as your boat comes to a stop and you look out the tube because they're clear tubes.
You can see people riding these and you see just where you are at now just looking out this tube. Everything is so, just colorful out in this world.
Like there's, there's pinks and purples and lots of soft white plants planted everywhere and you're like, we're there in 30 minutes.
Corey (DM):They said this was a four day
Corey (DM):travel and you made it there in like 30 minutes in these water tubes.
Lauren (EZ):Do we have like the urge to throw up because of how fast?
Corey (DM):Absolutely.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Nick (E'Louie):Was it like our like our local amusement park water ride?
Corey (DM):Kind of. But you didn't really get wet for some reason. Maybe just going so fast. I don't know what it is.
Nick (E'Louie):They have things figured out.
Corey (DM):They do, they, they've perfected this.
And so you shakily like get your legs back, your leg bearings back as you stand up and you, you know, you pull open that next sliding door and there's a DMV attendant. There's one of the axioms. He's like, welcome to Tomville.
Lauren (EZ):We're so glad that you have joined to visit us.
Nathan (Stump):That was horrible.
Lauren (EZ):Welcome to Tomville.
Nick (E'Louie):Thank you very much.
Nathan (Stump):Worst 30 minutes of Stump's life stuff. Thought he was going to die and
Corey (DM):there's just like no react. This, this guy is programmed just to be like welcome to Tomville.
Lauren (EZ):And you're just talking to him.
Nathan (Stump):Why does no one care?
Lauren (EZ):I care.
Nick (E'Louie):It starts to dawn on E that I don't know if we address. So he says you were giv.
Corey (DM):You were given all that in a packet.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay.
Corey (DM):And during the first episode, like, where everything is at.
Nick (E'Louie):So.
Corey (DM):Yeah.
Lauren (EZ):Okay. That's a good question though.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. Yeah.
Corey (DM):But yes, that is a good question. Yeah. So, yeah, you. You follow kind of the directions. And like I said, as you're stepping
Corey (DM):out Tville, it's not a huge city,
Corey (DM):but it is one of the bigger areas in the region.
Nick (E'Louie):It's.
Corey (DM):It's one of the older kind of one. So it's not like pristine city life. It's almost like old meets new in tumble. There's like an old corner.
Nick (E'Louie):There's a lot of reno.
Corey (DM):Exactly.
Nick (E'Louie):But it's still like maybe smaller shops and stuff that are real tight.
Corey (DM):Exactly.
Lauren (EZ):And apparently the people that we met last session that we were being friendly with, but then we found out that we cut the grass, they were like, oh, I gotta go. They were really jealous of us living in this area.
Corey (DM):Yeah. It's not bougie place.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):It's the bougie part.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Of Sandeo.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):And you see why.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):It's so clean.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Like, it is so clean. Grass is still really tall everywhere, but it's like, beautiful.
Nathan (Stump):Are the people like, Stump is like a big stinky Goliath. Are the people kind of like side eyeing him?
Corey (DM):Yes. Think, think. The capital city. In the Hunger Games, Stump doesn't notice
Nathan (Stump):and he's just like, oh, everybody here really paying attention to Stomp?
Corey (DM):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):This is what it likes to be a mamaly. I think.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):And E is very much nodding and smiling at people who are staring at Stump.
Lauren (EZ):And I have grass stains everywhere and probably vomit on me.
Corey (DM):And it's almost like, why would you be sent to this place?
Lauren (EZ):Right. That's what I'm thinking.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Because the extravagant gowns, like, very weird, like, purple hair, green hair, and like I said, very Hunger Games esque, you know?
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah. But.
Corey (DM):Yeah, so you follow the directions to where you're supposed to go.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, but.
Corey (DM):But you do notice that the directions lead you to the less extravagant part of town. Still extravagant, but it's. This is like the least here.
But it's also the richest place in some other place, you know, so it's like, even for them, this is kind of like.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, we're not in the high rises.
Corey (DM):You're rich, but you ain't that rich. Yeah.
Lauren (EZ):It's the worst of the best.
Corey (DM):Exactly. The worst of the best.
Lauren (EZ):It is.
Corey (DM):That's a good way of putting it.
Nathan (Stump):Us in a nutshell.
Corey (DM):So you pull up to your address that you were given on the outskirts of Tumbille. It's still just so beautiful. Like the way. I mean, if this is your thing, this is like very beautiful, beautiful, very colorful, very bright.
Everything is like soft around the edges. Here you pull up to a quaint cottage. It's covered in vines and lush grass, but it's meant to look that way.
Corey (DM):You know, it's part of the design.
Corey (DM):What color would you all want your cottage to look like?
Lauren (EZ):Yo.
Nick (E'Louie):Yellow.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
Corey (DM):No.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, yellow.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, yellow flowers.
Nick (E'Louie):Wait, like maybe like on the more neon side or on the muted side.
Lauren (EZ):I would say like a warm yellow. Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, I'll go down then.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, not like neon.
Lauren (EZ):No, no, not neon. I like Mary.
Corey (DM):Yeah, not mustard. Not neon. But like that. That warm, soft.
Nathan (Stump):It's an ultra violent piss yellow nick.
Corey (DM):That's what it is.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah. Well, why didn't you say it?
Lauren (EZ):Like, hurts to look at.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah, yeah.
Corey (DM):Okay, so you walk up this like, vine covered, warm yellow, inviting shutters on the window. Cottage is like partial stone, partial wood. So they kind of mixed a few of the artists together. Very much so.
As you walk into this cottage, you do notice it is just one large room, but there are bunk beds around the sides of the inner walls.
Corey (DM):Studio.
Nick (E'Louie):Studio.
Corey (DM):And it's basically, Yes, a large studio. And there's like three bunk beds in this. Because maybe they. Maybe this is set up as a transitional housing. I'm not sure.
Lauren (EZ):Wait, no, there's like a lower level, a middle and a top. Or there's like three separate bunk beds.
Corey (DM):There are three separate bunk beds with the top and bottom. So there's technically six places.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, no.
Lauren (EZ):Are we gonna live with people?
Nick (E'Louie):Whoa. It's like a hostel.
Nathan (Stump):No, there are lots of beds in here.
Corey (DM):Yeah, but there's. Other than that, there's like, you know, there's tables, there's chairs, everything else you need. But it's very minimal in here.
There's not a lot of decoration. It's almost like you are meant to make this place your home.
Lauren (EZ):Okay.
Corey (DM):There are. When you walk in, there's supplies of food already, like in the cupboards. There's like a place where they keep all the salted meat that's.
That's full. So it's almost like, wow, like all of your provisions are pretty much taken there's. A little welcome basket in.
Corey (DM):In.
Corey (DM):On the table in the center. And there is. It's like, got fruits and nuts and cheeses. And there's a note like sitting right in the middle of this welcome basket.
Lauren (EZ):What is. What does the note say?
Nick (E'Louie):E walks up to the note to read it.
Corey (DM):He likes notes. E. You walk up to the notes and this. You look at the note and it says, hello, anomalies.
Corey (DM):I mean, easy and stump. I hope you're E. Easy and stuff. I hope your issued home is to your liking. A great starter home and will serve you well as you adapt to your new life.
Nick (E'Louie):Is that Finch's handwriting?
Corey (DM):Oh, yes.
Corey (DM):You will find provisions to keep you going while you settle. While you settle in here at the dmv, we ask that you stick to the law.
Laws of the land, find a career, worship the mighty Rum Tum Tugger and contribute to Sendayo for a vivid tomorrow. P. S. Remember how I said that someone might be watching you?
Corey (DM):Yeah, I was just pulling your leg. I hadn't slept much for a few days.
Corey (DM):Disregard what I said. I'll see you when you pick up your new jobs.
Nathan (Stump):Sure.
Lauren (EZ):That's. That's interesting because I actually forgot, but now I'm gonna like, really ruminate over that.
Nick (E'Louie):E. Yeah?
Corey (DM):Why don't you roll me an investigation check?
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. I am so good at rolling just like everyone else. This go around, we are gonna have a whopping three.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, can I roll?
Corey (DM):You don't see the note, do you?
Nick (E'Louie):Well, there's a note.
Corey (DM):Here it is.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah. So I go look at this note.
Corey (DM):Okay. Do you. Is it because you of what happened last time? Maybe you're suspicious of notes or do you just want to.
Lauren (EZ):Well, I'm just curious because I see
Nick (E'Louie):he holds up a note and then he goes off to look for beer.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Why don't you roll me investigation check?
Lauren (EZ):Okay. I'm using a different dice this time. Well, that didn't help.
Nick (E'Louie):What is it with a roll?
Lauren (EZ):I really can't roll 20.
Nick (E'Louie):None of us is rolled up over a.
Corey (DM):All you need to roll is over a 10. Come on.
Lauren (EZ):Somebody rolled a three.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, okay.
Nick (E'Louie):This the smartest guy in the room. See what he says?
Corey (DM):Crazy.
Nathan (Stump):This is a bad day for rules.
Lauren (EZ):And I don't have Lucky because it's not allowed.
Corey (DM):Okay, well, I guess I will say just by looking at this note. You looking at it doesn't really show
Lauren (EZ):you, but we can maybe look at it again another time.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, and actually E is. Is really distracted and he is looking for any brew Is there any beer at all in the place?
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah. You find, like, those, like, little casks that you can, like, punch into and nice. Get a little tap it.
Nick (E'Louie):So nonchalantly. E is in the corner pulling off the war gong off the top of his cask and pull it. Pouring beer into his cask that he keeps on his back.
And he's like, what the notes say?
Lauren (EZ):What the notes said?
Nick (E'Louie):The note. Did you read it?
Lauren (EZ):Well, you read it, too? Yeah. He said that we shouldn't worry about somebody watching us.
Corey (DM):So I guess watching.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, you remember that? Because I kind of forgot.
Nick (E'Louie):I remember.
Lauren (EZ):But I guess we shouldn't worry about it because.
Nick (E'Louie):What a strange place.
Corey (DM):But it's not all bad. As he's pouring more beer.
Corey (DM):It's not all bad.
Nathan (Stump):Stump is in one of the top
Nathan (Stump):bunks and he's like, oh, Stump called top. And then it's like, stop. Bottom bunk.
Nick (E'Louie):He makes a note to not sleep underneath.
Corey (DM):That is Stump's spot for now. And then while you all are enjoying and looking at the provisions, you hear a
Lauren (EZ):Hello.
Nick (E'Louie):That could be.
Lauren (EZ):Do you want to go answer that, Stumpy?
Nick (E'Louie):So he goes to the door, but he can't see up. So Stump is coming.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, yes.
Nick (E'Louie):He can't see through the hole. He's a little. Oh.
Nathan (Stump):Stump picks Eloise up so he can see through the hole.
Nathan (Stump):There you go.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, what do we have here?
Nathan (Stump):What do you see?
Nick (E'Louie):Well, there's an elven lassie here. A bonnie lass, I might say.
Corey (DM):Should we let her in?
Nathan (Stump):Yes. Elves are always very nice to stop.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, so E, back on the ground, reaches up to the door handle and pulls. I guess it's probably eye level for him, maybe. Oh, yeah, Pulls it open there. Welcome. Hi there. Come on in.
Corey (DM):Oh, hello.
Corey (DM):Hello.
Corey (DM):Oh, it is so nice to finally meet you all. My name is Petunia. I am a friend of Finch's. Is so nice. I was sent here just to make sure you all.
I noticed that there was some, you know, there was some movement and stuff around the house. I just live right up the street and I was wondering when you all would be showing up, so. It is so wonderful to see you finally here.
I can now let Finch know you've made it safely. Did you find the provisions? I did. I. I placed them all around the house for you. I just want to make sure you're comfortable with everything.
Nick (E'Louie):Petunia, is it? Thank you very much.
Corey (DM):We did find the provisions.
Corey (DM):And she's, like, wearing this nice, like, beautiful, beautiful. Like floral. Like long, flowing Dress with, like, a bonnet on her head and, like, she seems very just nice.
Lauren (EZ):We really stick out here. We should probably go shopping.
Corey (DM):Like I said, I live just down the street. If you need anything, I can. Night or day, I. I live at home alone and I just. I like helping people. So if you need anything, I can help you.
Just make yourself at home. Finch said you are free to do any decorations you want. We do just have some strict codes in Tumville, you know.
Everything just has to be cute and fun and. And soft around the edges.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, yes. No one is cuter than Stump.
Corey (DM):You see her blush a little bit?
Corey (DM):She's like, you are kind of cute.
Nathan (Stump):Yes, this is true. By the way, do you have new bed?
Corey (DM):And she looks behind you and sees the crushed.
Corey (DM):I had those specially made and imported. Oh, my goodness.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, well, you should probably talk to your import guy. He's.
Corey (DM):That bed alone was 50 vouchers.
Nathan (Stump):Think he lying to you. Wow, 50?
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):Weapon of mass destruction only worth two. Do you know this,
Corey (DM):Stump?
Nathan (Stump):Just learn this. This world is crazy.
Corey (DM):Well, that was handcrafted by a gnome artisan who's lived in the mountains for hundreds of years. He makes one bed a year.
Nathan (Stump):Of course. Did that make sense to Stump? Well, if you could get him on another one, that would be great.
Corey (DM):Okay, yes. I'll get to working on it. Anyways, if you need anything. Oh, Finch did ask me to tell you to make sure you please read your note he left for you.
He told me to emphasize please read it. I don't know what that means, but.
Nathan (Stump):Well, both of you guys, I think I read that.
Nick (E'Louie):It's very nice to meet you, Petunia. Thanks. He was so welcome.
Corey (DM):I guess I'm gonna go put it in another order. Well, I mean, I guess you have plenty of beds. I thought there would be more of you, but I guess if there's only three, you don't.
I don't need to build another one, right?
Nick (E'Louie):Well, maybe we can try one other. This one looks like it's broken.
Nathan (Stump):You should probably get that guy started on one just in case.
Corey (DM):Okay, I guess I can do that. Well, enjoy day.
Corey (DM):She like curtsies at you and Stump curtsy's back.
Lauren (EZ):And so do I.
Corey (DM):We have community dinner every Tuesday at 4pm in the courtyard. So please, please make yourselves available for that.
Lauren (EZ):Okay? How did.
Nick (E'Louie):None of us have. Nobody has any good investigation.
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, it's not good.
Nick (E'Louie):Well, we also got a negative one zero.
Nathan (Stump):Mine is. Mine's negative two.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, I wanna. Yeah, okay. So you got. So look we all. I want to go take a closer look. We all go take a closer look. Yeah, well, remember, time we to roll that.
Or do we. Do we see? Because she told us.
Corey (DM):Now that she told you. You're kind of narrowed in.
Nick (E'Louie):Maybe we could roll with advantage.
Nathan (Stump):I don't know if this is helpful, but, Finn, Finch was, like putting a. A light under the note that we get handed him.
Corey (DM):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes. I wanted to do this.
Nathan (Stump):Holding it up to the light and stuff. So maybe that was.
Nick (E'Louie):So we have two notes, right? And we've got the one that's there.
Lauren (EZ):I like it.
Nick (E'Louie):We need to do that. Maybe we check out this note first to see if Finch is trying to tell us anything.
Lauren (EZ):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):And then we can do that one.
Lauren (EZ):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):Is that okay?
Lauren (EZ):Yeah, I like it.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, so do. So we're looking at the note now that Finch read, all knowing that she told us. You need to look at this.
Corey (DM):You want to do the Finches note first, or you want to do the other one first?
Nick (E'Louie):You want to do Finches?
Lauren (EZ):Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes, the one that's there at the apartment.
Corey (DM):Okay.
Nick (E'Louie):All right.
Corey (DM):So what, are you just looking at it again? Like, investigating it again? Yeah, I will give you advantage this time because. Yeah, because she said. Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay. You want to go because you got the zero.
Lauren (EZ):Yes.
Nick (E'Louie):I've got a negative one and stuff.
Corey (DM):As a advantage, take the higher number.
Nick (E'Louie):This is gonna be easy, though, because you're gonna nail it. All right, six with a six is not nailing. And a two.
Corey (DM):Oh, my gosh.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, I'm going.
Corey (DM):You're like, I don't know what this is, and you pass it off.
Nick (E'Louie):I rolled it too.
Corey (DM):Oh, my gosh. You all are never gonna find it.
Nick (E'Louie):Five. So we're nailing it. That's a one and a four.
Nathan (Stump):Should I scroll against you?
Lauren (EZ):What is that?
Nick (E'Louie):I'm curious to see what he rolls. Two ones.
Corey (DM): Hey, there's a: Corey (DM):Just.
Nick (E'Louie):Can I see what? Just roll one more. Just because you had advanced.
Corey (DM):Yeah, you do have advantage.
Nick (E'Louie):So, yeah, it was nine.
Corey (DM):Oh, my gosh. That's so funny. All you had to roll is above a 10, and no one could do that. Okay, so stomp the least intelligent of them all.
Nathan (Stump):Of course it has to be stumped
Corey (DM):you as you're reading this again, you're like, hello, anomalies. I mean, easy E and stump. I hope you. You know, you're reading it all again.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):And you're not quite making out. Exactly. So what you do Is you. Actually, what you do is you point it out to everyone else, but you don't understand what's going on. You're like.
Corey (DM):What you notice is some of the.
Corey (DM):Let, like, everything is written lowercase, but some of the letters are capitalized where they shouldn't be clever. Like in the middle of the word or sometimes the end of the word, the letter is capitalized. And so you're just like, why these words capitalized?
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, like the. The note was just like, kind of like, welcome, welcoming us there.
Corey (DM):So it's just like a happy welcoming
Nathan (Stump):note, you know, probably reads it like,
Corey (DM):welcome to your place. Why?
Nathan (Stump):Why is he being so rude? Is he mocking us?
Nathan (Stump):Us?
Corey (DM):And so as you kind of. As you kind of point that out to everyone.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):You take the E and easy. You go and go look at it.
Corey (DM):You're like, oh, my gosh. Yes.
Corey (DM):Some of these, like, in anomalies, the M is capitalized, you know, instead of the.
Corey (DM):You know.
Corey (DM):And so weird things like that. I'm not going to make you write all these. I'm just going to tell you. Okay, so after adding all of the letters that are capitalized that shouldn't be.
Like, not a single word is capitalized at the start. Just certain words. So you start at the top and work your way in order.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):You write all the letters down and you piece it together.
Nick (E'Louie):All the caps?
Corey (DM):Yeah, all the caps. And when you look at it, it spells this out. Meet me at Verdant Grove one day.
Lauren (EZ):We have a lot of stuff to be mindful of.
Nick (E'Louie):I think Finch is a good guy and a weird system. Yeah, that's what I'm feeling like.
Nathan (Stump):Meet me at Verdant Grove one day. What could this possibly mean?
Lauren (EZ):I think we need to meet him.
Corey (DM):Well, and it's taken us. Tomorrow is the day, is it not?
Nathan (Stump):Where is this?
Lauren (EZ):Well, yes, because.
Corey (DM):Let's look at this other note.
Corey (DM):See, I think we have one more day before.
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):Yeah.
Nick (E'Louie):There's a meeting.
Corey (DM):So let's take a look at this note.
Lauren (EZ):Okay, let's do it.
Nick (E'Louie):Okay, so what. What? Piggybacking off of what Nathan said? He wants to take the note, hold it up to the flame, look at it in the light, see if there's anything there.
Yeah.
Corey (DM):So you're trying to. You notice what Finch was doing with the other note?
Nick (E'Louie):Yeah.
Corey (DM):So, you know, he holds it up
Nick (E'Louie):to light all the same stuff he did.
Corey (DM):Nothing really happens. As you hold it up to the light, you're like, it's still kind of dirty. So you try to get most of the other stuff off.
And then you do the thing where you like. Like you find like some flame and you like light underneath. And when you do that, something actually does start to appear on this page.
Okay, so where it was written, Whiskerlands. Their time has come. Two days that disappears under the heat. And something else appears because of the heat. What you see is a map of a city.
And what city? I don't know. But it does say our field. Probably Rumfield. Probably Rumfield. And you see, there are four walls that surround the city.
And it says north wall alleys, east wall alleys, south wall alleys, and west wall alleys. Okay, W. W A. Yeah, it's all coming together.
Nick (E'Louie):It is.
Nathan (Stump):Yeah, yeah, I understand it all.
Corey (DM):So there's a. It's like a very. It's a very crude map, you know, but it does have the four walls around it and has the, you know, north wall alleys.
And then it does have west wall. So you now have Rumfield, west wall alleys.
Nick (E'Louie):Oh, yes.
Nathan (Stump):Oh, I get it.
Nick (E'Louie):Yes.
Nathan (Stump):We need to go in the alleys. And the path we take in the
Corey (DM):alleys is right, left, left, straight right,
Nathan (Stump):straight, straight, right leg.
Nick (E'Louie):And then X marks us the spot.
Nathan (Stump):I'm a genius.
Corey (DM):And what lights up on the other side of the map are arrows. And one arrow was to the right. And the one underneath that is an arrow to the left. And underneath that is an arrow to the left.
Nathan (Stump):It's idiot proof.
Nick (E'Louie):Yep.
Corey (DM):And as you like celebrating and like
Nick (E'Louie):this, we gotta do a thing.
Corey (DM):You hear your window open up on the side of the door. And then you hear this voice say, what y' all looking at?
Nathan (Stump):Ah, Window person.
Corey (DM):Quest happens. Is Nick Jackson. Jackson as Eloi. Lauren Keller as Esmeralda Fitzmonster. Nathan Guidry as Stump. And I am your dungeon master, Corey Keller.
Catch us every other Thursday as a new episode drops and we'll see you in the next adventure. Here we go.
Nick (E'Louie):Good thing I'm not signed in to the right.
Lauren (EZ):Oh, no, probably.
Nick (E'Louie):But I know that Nathan has his pulled up.
Corey (DM):Oh, yeah, Nathan's totally got his.
Nick (E'Louie):He's usually on top of it.
Lauren (EZ):Thank you.
Corey (DM):Thank you, Dean D. Beyond, for making this super easy. And then yet it's still so hard.
Lauren (EZ):I. I am prepared.
Corey (DM):Yes, you are.
Lauren (EZ):Way to go, guys.
Nick (E'Louie):Log out of this account.
Lauren (EZ):All right? If you need to fart, fart now.
