The Faculty of Law welcomed attendees of the Society of Legal Scholars' 102nd Annual Conference, which was held at the University of Cambridge, starting on the afternoon of Monday 5 September and finishing at lunchtime on Thursday 8 September.

The main theme of the Conference was 'Law in Politics, Politics in Law' and the second Plenary held on the afternoon of Tuesday 6 September was entitled 'The Roles of Lawyers in Government'. The session was introduced by Professor David Ibbetson, the Chair of the Faculty of Law at Cambridge, and the panel included Sir Stephen Laws KCB, QC, First Parliamentary Counsel, David Seymour, Legal Adviser to the Home Office, and Sir Michael Wood, formerly Legal Adviser to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
