Shownotes

In the pursuit of entrepreneurial excellence, we invite you to contemplate the profound question: what is your vision?

This episode delves into the essence of why we initiate our ventures and how that initial impetus can evolve into a grander aspiration that transcends our immediate circumstances.

We explore the transformative power of articulating a vision that not only reflects our desires but also addresses the pressing challenges within the world around us. Through vivid examples, such as the aspiration to see an equal representation of female leadership in the corporate sphere, we illuminate the potential of our ideas to foster substantial change and innovation.

Join us as we dare you to dream audaciously and to envision a better world that your enterprise can help create, because, as we all know, a vision without action is merely a daydream and nobody wants to be caught napping in the entrepreneurial arena!

Takeaways:

  1. The essence of entrepreneurship lies in articulating a compelling vision that transcends the present and reaches into the future, where one can dream of the impact their business will create.
  2. It is of paramount importance for founders to recognize the current challenges their customers face and to articulate how their company addresses these issues to foster transformation.
  3. In the pursuit of visionary leadership, one must not only envision a brighter future but also consider the legacy their company will leave for future generations, fostering a sense of purpose beyond mere profit.
  4. The act of declaring a vision is akin to planting a seed of hope; it cultivates a community of passionate individuals who are eager to contribute to a cause that resonates deeply with their values and aspirations.
  5. A powerful vision can attract not only customers but also dedicated team members who are willing to go above and beyond, driven by a shared commitment to a greater purpose that inspires them.
  6. Ultimately, the challenge posed to entrepreneurs is to dare to envision a better world created through their endeavors, encouraging them to seize the initiative and forge their own paths toward success.

Speaker A:

Hey, Dare doer.

Speaker A:

This has been so much fun getting to see all your stories of why you started your company and why you're doing the things that you're doing.

Speaker B:

It is so wonderful because we get to tap into the essence of who you are and what your company is meant to be.

Speaker B:

It's the seed of the beautiful harvest that you're building as we step into from this idea of why you started into.

Speaker B:

Now where are you going?

Speaker B:

And what is this bigger, brighter vision of what you hope to build?

Speaker B:

That's what we want to ask you today.

Speaker B:

What is your vision?

Speaker A:

And I love this dare because now we get to dream, right?

Speaker A:

Could be something that you already have in your head, something that you've already been going towards.

Speaker A:

You might also find that maybe you haven't been sure.

Speaker A:

Coco talked about it on another dare.

Speaker A:

Where sometimes we're on this hamster wheel treadmill in life, it could be hard to see outside of that, see the brighter, beautiful future.

Speaker A:

This could be even the first time you're talking about your vision out loud.

Speaker A:

So the dare is I dare you.

Speaker A:

What is your vision?

Speaker B:

As you think about vision, think about two parts to the question.

Speaker B:

First, what is the world that exists now that you wish were different?

Speaker B:

Focus on your customer and your reasons for starting your company.

Speaker B:

Imagine that your customers are all going to experience transformation.

Speaker B:

They're all going to receive whatever the intention of your business is.

Speaker B:

So whether you're a SaaS company that is creating software that's going to improve the quality of your reporting, or it's an underwear line that's going to make women feel sexy, or it's a children's playhouse that is going to create joy for every kid.

Speaker B:

Think about what are the challenges you're racing and what's that?

Speaker B:

Brighter, brighter, better world.

Speaker B:

I like to think of vision when with my company.

Speaker B:

And every time I start a company, this is an important element of making your company outlive you.

Speaker B:

I like to think a hundred years from now, I imagine my company begins, grows and flourishes.

Speaker B:

All the products and services I ever imagined creating are made manifest.

Speaker B:

The brightest and best people come, add their value, contributions, wisdom and brilliance and all the customers we're meant to serve come in and get to experience what we have to offer.

Speaker B:

And in a hundred years, the company still is existing and thriving way beyond the potential of what we originally thought.

Speaker B:

So what does that look like a hundred years from now?

Speaker B:

Imagine there's been four or five CEOs past you.

Speaker B:

And because you started with this seed of desire and hope for A brighter, better world for customers.

Speaker B:

Now it's turned into this harvest, this forest of beauty, and it's bringing goodness to the world.

Speaker B:

So look for yourself and say, what is the better world the company is creating?

Speaker B:

And what does that look like?

Speaker A:

Wow, I love that you're getting us to think beyond even our own generation.

Speaker B:

Yeah.

Speaker A:

It's so powerful to go beyond ourselves.

Speaker A:

Yeah.

Speaker B:

I'll give you an example from my own experience.

Speaker B:

I started a force for good because I felt more women need to succeed in business.

Speaker B:

And women are.

Speaker B:

I'm telling you the problem right now, the piece of the problem.

Speaker B:

Before I tell you my vision, only 2% of all venture funding goes to women founders.

Speaker B:

Women get over a million dollars in revenue, half the rate that men do.

Speaker B:

Yet women are more capital efficient than men.

Speaker B:

We build smarter, brighter companies that have the potential to go further.

Speaker B:

We just don't take them quite as far.

Speaker B:

And there's systemic reasons for that.

Speaker B:

My vision is a world where just as many Teslas, Microsofts and Exxons are founded and led by women as by men.

Speaker B:

We're 51% of the population, so wouldn't me.

Speaker B:

My hope is that we are able to take that bigger place in owning the capital and owning the possibility, the innovation.

Speaker B:

Women lead differently, women bring out new possibilities, we think differently, we come up with new products and services that can serve the planet in a better way.

Speaker B:

So this is the vision of a force for good.

Speaker B:

I invite you to think about what better world your company is creating to.

Speaker B:

Does it mean through my efforts in the next three years that suddenly 51% are gonna be run by women on the stock exchange?

Speaker B:

Probably not, but that's my hundred years vision.

Speaker B:

When we think about breakthrough, if we have that long term vision that transcends whatever we tell us is impossible, we can start taking steps in the direction of what breakthrough really can bring us.

Speaker B:

What about you, Stacy?

Speaker B:

What do you think about vision?

Speaker A:

Oh my gosh, it's so exciting to me.

Speaker A:

As we're recording these videos, I'm in the middle of launching the billion dollar impact marketplace, you know, and my vision for that is there will no longer be any funding issues for nonprofits or people that have any cause they want to raise money for.

Speaker A:

No longer will the times be where people are exhausted and drowned in not having enough resources, not having enough access to do things.

Speaker A:

And then also it's going to help entrepreneurs because it's going to fuel their growth and income the more they share it.

Speaker A:

I'm excited to do this dare on its own.

Speaker A:

I think Back to my crafting company, the vision back then was being able to help anyone get a job that couldn't find a job.

Speaker A:

Helping in companies with these critical roles, being able to fix the gap that so many people have when it comes to hiring.

Speaker A:

It's a really powerful question because now we get to dream about better world our company is creating.

Speaker A:

It really gives us purpose behind what we're doing every day.

Speaker A:

And that's what I love about what you're helping us through, Coco.

Speaker A:

You're really helping us redefine what it means to be a founder and giving us that purpose to help us see each day through.

Speaker B:

Your example of your billion dollar project is a quintessential example.

Speaker B:

If you didn't have that vision, what would you be talking about that culminates a gathering of people around the idea?

Speaker B:

Look at how that vision has brought all kinds of interested parties to the table.

Speaker B:

The same thing happens when you declare the vision for your company.

Speaker B:

You start to bring together the people and and the customers who believe in that vision.

Speaker B:

And belief comes from your whole body.

Speaker B:

It's whole body, heart, soul, spirit, not just your head.

Speaker B:

Not just the analytical.

Speaker B:

That's where you get customers who genuinely cherish and love you and where you can attract team members who are like, I don't even care if you pay me.

Speaker B:

I just want to be a part of this vision.

Speaker B:

I'm going to run through walls to get there.

Speaker B:

The people that come and work for you will never want to work anywhere else.

Speaker B:

Because there's nothing more exciting than working towards a vision that's larger than oneself.

Speaker A:

It's so true.

Speaker A:

A lot of people think you have to have it created for people to be a part of something, but you just have to have the vision and know where it's going.

Speaker A:

And that's what gets people to get excited and want to be a part of it.

Speaker A:

So powerful.

Speaker A:

Okay, so the dare is I dare you.

Speaker A:

What is your vision?

Speaker A:

I love that extra sentence.

Speaker A:

It's what is the better world your company, me is creating?

Speaker A:

Do the thing.

Speaker A:

Don't wait for opportunity.

Speaker A:

Create it.

Speaker A:

Design your breakthrough year.
