Welcome to episode five of From Surviving To Thriving, a show to help and support parents overcome their struggles with anxiety and depression so they can give their best to themselves, their loved ones, and their career.
In this episode we cover
About the Host:
Ray Bourcier - Stay-at-home father, husband, author, podcaster
A college and university environmental science graduate, Ray grew up in a toxic family and a toxic situation in Northern Ontario, Canada. As a result, he experienced the first of many PTSD events at age five, which would begin his nearly three-decade struggle with anxiety and depression.
Spending most of his life in survival mode without support, he eventually discovered and developed ways to overcome his struggles when nothing else worked.
With a passion for helping others, he made it his mission to help transform the lives and impact the worlds of eleven million people so they too can give their best to themselves, their loved ones, and their career.
An ancient Chinese proverb that Ray loves states, "To know the road ahead, ask those coming back." Ray is on the road back to offer you the support you need every step on your journey so that you, too, will be on the same road back. Ray believes that only those who've walked that road can truly understand the struggles that you go through.
Together, we will become the rising tide that lifts all boats.
Together, we are unstoppable.
In his off time, you can find Ray spending time with his daughter, reading books, watching hockey, and contemplating whether pineapple belongs on pizza.

I want to take a moment. And thank you all for the support with sharing our show. And I'm blown away by the feedback that I've received from you all. I am truly honored and grateful. Today, I'm dropping a controversial bombshell that society won't want me to tell you. But you need to hear it and decide for yourself, whether I'm out of my mind, or I'm giving you nothing but the truth. It starts with a question. I want you to be comfortable in being completely honest with yourself. Don't pass judgment on the answer. Just let go of those chains, and B. Do you find yourself constantly giving everyone and everything you have? Always giving. But when it comes time to give to yourself? Your tank is empty, and you have nothing left to give? Do you find yourself overwhelmed with trying to be everything for everyone? Except you? How does this affect your anxiety and your depression? I asked these questions because I'm about to drop a truth bomb that society is not going to like and heck, you may not like it either. But this is where I want you to open up and hear me out before you take a stance. The truth is in this world you have to be selfish. Now, for clarification, I'm not talking about being selfish at the expense of others. However, what I am talking about is that by giving everything you have to everyone, everything else, you're not giving your best to them. You're only giving them the best of the rest of you. And I'm sure you've seen it even if it's hard. You may see it in your relationships, your work. You may see it most avenues of your life. But let me be 100% clear on this. It's not your fault. This is how you're programmed by society. This is how you're programmed by culture. Society's programming is such that you're expected to give give give, give, give, give give until there's nothing left. Society's programming makes you feel selfish and isolates you if you tried to do anything for yourself. Have you noticed this to society isn't reality though. That Truth is, if you can't even give your best to yourself, there's no way you can give your best to the rest. Yes, or Yes.
Ray Bourcier:You shouldn't care how much society wants to push you into believing that being selfish is bad. You are the one living your life 24/7 365 Not society, to hell with society. You're the only one who has the power and ability to give yourself you're best. And if you're anything like I was, you may have been neglecting yourself for far too long. You deserve better than that. You need better than that. If you want to transform your life and Impact Your World. Don't let others dictate how you live your life. And that includes me, please don't take what I say with blind faith. See if what I shared with you resonates with you. If it doesn't, that's fine, simply let it go. But if it does resonate with you, challenge yourself to take unwavering action and start putting yourself first one step at a time. 1% better every day, you are the most important person in your life. And until you realize that, you will continue to keep spinning your wheels, old ways won't open new doors. Start putting yourself first. The more you fill your cup, the more you can give your loved ones, your career, your dreams, your best. And I want you to lean in really closely. Because you need to hear this. You matter. You have always mattered. Do you know what the odds of being born are? Scientists have estimated the odds of you being born at 400 trillion to one. This means that you were born enough. You have always been enough, you are the one in 400 trillion. So take action today and start prioritizing yourself. If you haven't taken action on the blueprints yet, this is your first step, go and download them from the tribe for free. How badly do you want better, because you deserve better. But you have to hit the point where you realize that while it may hurt to take action, because growth can be painful at times. The reality is that nothing is as painful as staying stuck, where you are spinning your wheels. That's where I was. And I don't want that for you. I want better for you, you deserve better. Only one pain serves to help you grow and lead to bigger and better things. And that's taking unwavering action to overcome your struggles one step at a time. 1% better every day. And the truth is that it starts to get easier and easier. Think about a rocket ship heading into outer space. On the flight, the most difficult time for that rocket is the first 90 seconds when it's having to fight through both gravity and the law of inertia. Once the initial resistance has passed, it's much more smooth sailing. This will happen for you. The more you take unwavering action, it will happen. And you're not alone in this. Together. We'll get you through because you are unstoppable. I hope this episode has helped serve you and resonates with you. And that's it for today's episode. I'm honored and grateful to have been able to serve you here today.
