The Blessings of Forgetfulness – Daily Wisdom

Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1973 of our trek, and it’s time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote and some wise words from Gramps for today’s trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today’s trek as we increase wisdom and create a living legacy. Proverbs 16:16 says, "How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver!" If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let’s jump right in with today’s nugget. Today’s quote is from Brian Tracy, and it is, "Always give without remembering and always receive without forgetting."

The Blessings of Forgetfulness

I don’t know if I am unusual in this trait, but I have been blessed with not remembering much in the way of details of the past. Yet, on the other hand, I hear Paula recite many facts from years past, even when she was a child. One of my brothers, Jack, who lives near us, is the same. He remembers so many details of our childhood growing up. Yet, I am hard pressed to remember much unless it is embedded in family stories or we have pictures of specific occasions. I don’t feel bad about it, though. I also don’t remember negative things that people have done to us. I tend to reframe all situations positively and always look to the future and what beautiful surprises will be contained within the next few decades. Life is so wonderful, a gift from God. Our minds are so wonderfully creative. Opposite of that, I can remember dozens of passwords, business processes, and Scripture passages. I think this is because they are crucial to a successful future. There are many times when forgetfulness is a blessing, such as when we give generously to others without any expectation of return or being bogged down on how those resources were utilized. Once it is given away, it is no longer yours, so forget about it. On the opposite side of that coin, when someone gives to you, or is kind, make sure you remember to thank them for the blessings. Philippians 3:12-14 I don’t mean to say that I have already achieved these things or that I have already reached perfection. But I press on to possess that perfection for which Christ Jesus first possessed me. No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it,  but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and come along tomorrow for another day of our Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.
