This podcast episode delves into the concept of complete dependence on God, highlighting that true victory in life comes when we trust in His power rather than our own abilities. David Spoon shares personal anecdotes and biblical references, including the story of Gideon, where God reduced his army to just 300 men to demonstrate that victory is achieved through divine intervention, not sheer numbers or human strength. Listeners are encouraged to relinquish control and allow God to lead, emphasizing that He can do what we cannot. The conversation also touches on the importance of sharing praise reports and prayer requests, fostering a community of support and faith. With humor and relatable storytelling, this episode invites reflection on how to better align our lives with God's guidance and powers.
Takeaways:
Emphasizing the theme of divine empowerment, the David Spoon Experience offers listeners a compelling narrative about the necessity of surrendering to God’s will for authentic strength and victory in life. David Spoon shares insights drawn from his own experiences and biblical teachings, creating a rich tapestry of understanding around the significance of relying on God, especially in daunting circumstances. The episode draws heavily on the stories of biblical figures such as Moses and Gideon, illustrating how their victories were rooted in their dependence on God’s power rather than their own abilities. Spoon’s recounting of Moses lifting the staff during the battle against the Amalekites serves as a metaphor for the Christian journey—where maintaining faith and reliance on God is crucial to overcoming life’s battles.
The interactive nature of the show fosters a sense of community as listeners are encouraged to engage with their own stories, providing praise reports and prayer requests. This communal aspect highlights the importance of shared faith experiences in building a supportive network among believers. Spoon’s humor interwoven with profound spiritual insights creates an inviting atmosphere that resonates with the audience. The call-ins from listeners not only provide entertainment but also reinforce the message that faith can manifest in everyday life, making the show relatable and authentic.
By the conclusion of the episode, David Spoon underscores a vital takeaway: believers must actively pursue a deeper relationship with God, characterized by trust and dependence. He reinforces that true power comes from God, who desires to demonstrate His might in the lives of those who submit to Him. This call to action is both a challenge and an encouragement for listeners to reflect on their own walks of faith and to embrace the transformative power of a life committed to God.

David Spoon:Here's what else we're looking at during the show.
David Spoon:Lessons for surviving living and prevailing politics, entertainment and current events, personal revelations, spiritual observations, my life's insanities, and so much more.
David Spoon:Now, remember, it's not professional radio.
David Spoon:And just in case you're wondering, how do we know it's not professional radio?
David Spoon:We're gonna ask the current ruler of professional radio, the ruler.
David Spoon:And I'm not talking about a stick that's twelve inches.
David Spoon:We're talking about the ruler of.
David Spoon:Of professional radio.
David Spoon:Our very own Jammin Jacob.
David Spoon:Jammin Jacob.
David Spoon:As the ruler of professional radio, do you decree that the David spoon experience is or is not professional radio?
Jammin Jacob:It is not professional radio, David.
David Spoon:There it is.
Jammin Jacob:The ruler from the ruler himself.
David Spoon:The ruler.
David Spoon:Not twelve inches on a stick.
David Spoon:The ruler has spoken.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:You like that one?
David Spoon:That's a good one, right?
David Spoon:Don't get a crown.
David Spoon:That'd be a bad idea.
David Spoon:All right, here's the bottom line.
David Spoon:The bottom line is it's just radio.
David Spoon:Come on.
David Spoon:But we are asking you, what do you think?
David Spoon:So you can email us during the show.
David Spoon:David mustincrease.org dot.
David Spoon:That's David mustincrease.org.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:You can give us a call anytime.
David Spoon:Yeah, that's right.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:Talking to Jammin Jacob is like waking up and feeling like you got a great night's sleep.
Jammin Jacob:Thank you, David.
Jammin Jacob:Happy Wednesday.
David Spoon:Happy Wednesday to you, my friend.
David Spoon:Did you get a good night's sleep last night?
Jammin Jacob:Yes, I did.
Jammin Jacob:Yes, I did.
Jammin Jacob:How about you?
David Spoon:Not so much.
David Spoon:The dog was very, the dog was very active.
David Spoon:He was active at 243 50 and then six.
Jammin Jacob:So all night long?
David Spoon:Pretty much, yeah.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:And see what Bert does.
David Spoon:Just people go, no.
David Spoon:So Bert sleeps on the bed with us.
David Spoon:We don't.
David Spoon:We don't.
David Spoon:We've been doing this for so long, it doesn't matter.
David Spoon:And he does this new thing now where he sits there and he puts his paws like right by your face and then he whines a little bit.
David Spoon:First he goes.
David Spoon:And then once you are stirring, he licks you right in the face.
David Spoon:Doesn't even just.
David Spoon:And you're just like going.
David Spoon:Doesn't matter what the dream is.
David Spoon:The first thing you're waking up to is seeing that face.
David Spoon:It's a face only a mother can love.
David Spoon:Anyhow.
David Spoon:I just want to point that out.
David Spoon:That's what goes on in our house.
David Spoon:Why would you bother to send us an email?
David Spoon:Why would you text us?
David Spoon:Why I, in fact, would you call us?
David Spoon:It could be.
David Spoon:It could be because you have something that the Lord has done in your life and you want to share it and we want to participate with you in that.
David Spoon:Share it.
David Spoon:It's a praise report.
David Spoon:Let the redeemed of the Lord, say so, have you had an answer to prayer?
David Spoon:Did you have a situation that turned out a thousand times better than you thought and you brought it to the Lord in prayer and, wow.
David Spoon:Well, share that.
David Spoon:That helps other people in their situations.
David Spoon:Plus it honors the Lord.
David Spoon:Maybe you've got a prayer request.
David Spoon:Got something going on just like that and you need prayer for it.
David Spoon:Let's pray about it.
David Spoon:Let's bring it before the Lord.
David Spoon:That's what we're supposed to do.
David Spoon:That's how you do it.
David Spoon:It could be that you have a scripture you want to share, something that's just on your heart and mind.
David Spoon:It's just like, oh, this really, it's really impacting me, you know, it's just really, and I wanted to share it and I wanted to kind of get everybody connected in it.
David Spoon:Cool.
David Spoon:Let's do that.
David Spoon:Our gear, our slant, our bent, our approach is to encourage one another and strengthen each other in the Lord as we see the day of Christ getting closer and closer.
David Spoon:And it is.
David Spoon:So we need to be strengthening one another and blessing one another.
David Spoon:We'll even do some Bible trivia.
David Spoon:We'll do that in a minute because we do have somebody that's calling in.
David Spoon:Right.
David Spoon:And we want to give them a chance, see what's going on with them, make sure that all is well, what's taking place.
David Spoon:So let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Hey, this is the guy from the Wonder Bread factory.
David Spoon:The wonder bread factory.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Because you've been, you've been smelling the sweet aroma for free.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):So now you need to repay us back.
David Spoon:Believe me, they did pretty well.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Yeah, the environmental protection services.
David Spoon:That's great.
David Spoon:That's great.
David Spoon:How are you, brother?
David Spoon:How was the rest of your day yesterday?
David Spoon:We were praying for you.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):It was fabulous.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Thank you for praying I was able to make it home.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I say thank you, Lord, because I was feeling so physically exhausted and I said, lord, I need to finish my work and safely be home with my daughter.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:And so by the grace and the goodness of God, you safely got home and you got to make sure you're there safely with your children, right?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Yes.
David Spoon:Awesome.
David Spoon:That's just a praise report by itself, isn't it?
David Spoon:Isn't it just a relief by itself that, that God graciously protected and watched over and kept you safe and brought you to where you wanted to be?
Speaker E:Yes.
David Spoon:Isn't that, that's just great.
David Spoon:That's a real praise.
David Spoon:People should recognize that.
David Spoon:People don't realize if it was up to the enemy, it wouldn't go that way.
David Spoon:But because it's in the Lord's hands, it can go that way.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Yeah.
David Spoon:Awesome.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):To be honest, there was a few, few mile.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I didn't know if I was driving.
David Spoon:Wait, wait, wait.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I feel like, yes, I'm driving.
David Spoon:You mean, is that.
David Spoon:That's an issue of being tired.
David Spoon:I have that happen every time I drive.
David Spoon:Am I driving?
David Spoon:Well, then why is this guy trying to cut me off anyway?
David Spoon:I have to have it every day.
David Spoon:Oh, that's hilarious.
David Spoon:That's hilarious.
David Spoon:What else is happening, brother?
David Spoon:Did you just want to share that?
David Spoon:That's a great share, by the way, because people need to know those things matter.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):No, that's truly like the Lord.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I believe he was with me and give me the strength, and I was able to do it my work and was safely picked up, my daughters, and we were safely home.
David Spoon:That's so good.
David Spoon:Isn't that.
David Spoon:Isn't that sense of peace and that sense of safety?
David Spoon:Bible says safety is of the Lord.
David Spoon:Isn't that just marvelous?
Speaker E:Yes.
David Spoon:Awesome.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Yeah, I have few little jokes because I'm happy.
David Spoon:Well, at least you had the foresight to say they were little.
David Spoon:Anyway, what do you got, brother?
David Spoon:What do you got?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):The first one is, what's a Christian's favorite shot?
David Spoon:What's a Christian's favorite shot?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Holy communion.
David Spoon:Holy communion.
David Spoon:That's the shot.
David Spoon:Oh, my gosh.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):You know, you get a little shot.
David Spoon:I gotcha.
David Spoon:I gotcha.
David Spoon:Jacob had to think about it.
David Spoon:He's the one that gives you the authority to know what else you got for us.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):All right, the next one is one catholic boy went to a confession booth, and while he was in the confession booth, so he told the father, father, I'm so addicted to the facebook.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):And father replied, son, I'm so sorry.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I don't follow you.
David Spoon:All right, there you go.
David Spoon:I don't follow you.
David Spoon:Oh, my gosh.
David Spoon:Good job, brother.
David Spoon:I'll give you more props on the second one than on the first one.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:Good job, bro.
David Spoon:You there?
David Spoon:You still there?
David Spoon:Okay, he's there.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Yeah, I'm there.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:I give you props on the second one more than the first one.
David Spoon:I just want to let you know that.
David Spoon:All right?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Okay, one last one.
David Spoon:Oh, you got another one.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Three.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):What is appropriate attire for church service?
David Spoon:What is appropriate attire for church service?
David Spoon:Go ahead.
David Spoon:Go ahead.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Holy jeans.
David Spoon:What was that?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Holy jeans.
David Spoon:Holy jeans.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):You could wear Levi, then you'll be part of the holy jeans.
David Spoon:Holy Jean.
David Spoon:Oh, Levi.
David Spoon:Oh.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:That was.
David Spoon:That was like.
David Spoon:That was a.
David Spoon:I think that was a mercy clap on that last one.
David Spoon:That's what I'm gonna give you.
David Spoon:Okay.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I'll take it.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I'm happy.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):I can take it.
David Spoon:All right, brother, good job today.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):Okay, you wanna give me trivia question?
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):The real trivia question?
David Spoon:Yeah, I'm gonna give it to the next person.
David Spoon:Okay.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):All right.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):That's fine.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):All right, my brother, thank you for everybody for praying.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):And I'm praying on a daily basis for our David Spoon experience ministry and for David Spoon and his family.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):And I love you all.
David Spoon:God bless you, brother.
David Spoon:We love you, too.
Caller (Wonder Bread Factory):God bless.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:See, sometimes you get phone calls and it's just fun, too, right?
David Spoon:That's part of it.
David Spoon:All right, I am going to do a trivia question and I'm going to do DNA.
David Spoon:But here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:And Samson is so good at trivia.
David Spoon:So I'm giving this up to other people that also answer.
David Spoon:Here it is.
David Spoon:The spies who spied out the land of Canaan said it flowed with what numbers.
David Spoon:Chapter 13, verse 27.
David Spoon:The spies who spied out the land of Canaan said that it flowed with what numbers.
David Spoon:1327.
David Spoon:You can also call in just like Samson did.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:In the meantime, we're going into DNA.
David Spoon:D stands for draw closer to the Lord daily.
David Spoon:So I did another deep dive on the word daily, and I couldn't believe this came up out of the Webster dictionary, but it said daily is every day.
David Spoon:Wow.
David Spoon:Really threw me for a curve.
David Spoon:Draw closer to the left.
David Spoon:I know, right?
David Spoon:Whoo.
David Spoon:D draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:Never.
David Spoon:He says it in the gospel of Mark.
David Spoon:He says it in the gospel of Luke.
David Spoon:Never, never, never be ashamed of what Jesus had to say, ever.
David Spoon:Or he'll be ashamed of us when he comes in the glory with his father.
David Spoon:I mean, it's from the father.
David Spoon:Just keep that in mind.
David Spoon:Never be ashamed.
David Spoon:The world will try to shame you for believing in the word of God.
David Spoon:Here's the key.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Don't receive it.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:That's how you do it.
David Spoon:D draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A.
David Spoon:Always be ready.
Jammin Jacob:To serve.
David Spoon:Just ready to go.
David Spoon:Ready to go.
David Spoon:We had a wonderful illustration of that from Rosalind on Monday.
David Spoon:It's just being ready it's just, it's, even if you're, even if you've got something lined up, okay, here's a great example for that.
David Spoon:I have the show lined up, right?
David Spoon:And even still with having the show lined up, sometimes things come about and it's like, ooh, I didn't, I wasn't thinking, you know, in that way.
David Spoon:But the Lord wanted to do it, and we just want to let him do it.
David Spoon:Always let him do that.
David Spoon:In your life, if you think, well, it's gotta be like this, the ducks have gotta be lined up, everything has to be perfect.
David Spoon:Let me explain something to you.
David Spoon:You would do a lot better in life just being ready for whatever the Lord wants, then, compared to making sure every one of your ducks is perfect, because what the Lord wants is truly perfect.
David Spoon:And you just wanna be ready and he might wanna use you to do this, that, or whatever.
David Spoon:I'm not saying what it is.
David Spoon:It could be for ministry, it could be intercessory.
David Spoon:Prayer can be for communion with him.
David Spoon:It could be just to show his love by serving somebody.
David Spoon:It could be anything.
David Spoon:But you gotta be there.
David Spoon:And instead of making everything happen the way that we think it should happen, all us type a personalities, instead of doing that, it's this trust that his stuff is best.
David Spoon:That's what it's all about.
David Spoon:That's the DNA.
David Spoon:D draw closer to the Lord daily and never be ashamed of Jesus or his words.
David Spoon:A always be ready to serve.
David Spoon:Your trivia question, by the way, for those who do not know your trivia question, the spies who spied out the land of Canaan said it flowed with numbers.
David Spoon:Chapter 13, verse 27 would be your answer.
David Spoon:And we are not going to exit yet because I want to get a little bit into where we're going on this discussion, and that is the pathway to his power.
David Spoon:I've mentioned this multiple times.
David Spoon:Cause sometimes in a Christian's walk, like my walk, I was learning the word of God, but didn't really have much pastoral help in the beginning, I wasn't really connected to a church, so I was just really finding my way through, so to speak, trying to find the Lord.
David Spoon:And the Lord would try and teach me and for me to get it, this is how stubborn I am.
David Spoon:For to me to get it right, he had to give me various dreams.
David Spoon:Those dreams that I received from the Lord were awesome.
David Spoon:They are not as authoritative as the word of God.
David Spoon:I don't know how to say this to people any clearer.
David Spoon:When somebody has a dream, prophetic or not, instructional or not, encouraging or not, it is not more sure than the word of God.
David Spoon:The word of God is the plumb line.
David Spoon:And as a bapticostal, I'm totally open to God speaking through dreams, but I'm totally open for the spirit leading, but I am absolutely bible grounded.
David Spoon:And that is how every one of us needs to be.
David Spoon:The Lord can do whatever he wants, but he's never going to do anything contrary to his word, ever.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:So as I'm going through the process, I'm having this dream.
David Spoon:And in this dream, the Lord in his mercy.
David Spoon:Now, we do have somebody calling in, but the Lord in his mercy was trying to teach me to stop trying to control.
David Spoon:Have you ever gotten in that place where you tell the Lord, I'm going to follow you, I'm going to obey you, you are my lord, you are my savior, but you have a harder time going.
David Spoon:So I'm going to take my hands off of this and let it just go with you.
David Spoon:Well, that is one of my issues, that I have to take my hands off of things.
David Spoon:And in James four seven where it says, submit yourself, therefore, to God.
David Spoon:Resist the devil and he will flee.
David Spoon:The reason the devil flees is because we submit to God.
David Spoon:And then God's power and God's life and God's influence is working through us, and that gives us the ability to prevail.
David Spoon:But it's based on the surrender.
David Spoon:It's based on the yield.
David Spoon:It's based on the, I leave this in your hands, and too many of us try to take it from the Lord or never give it to the Lord.
David Spoon:You know that passage, cast your care unto the Lord and he will care for you.
David Spoon:Some of us cast it unto the Lord like a yo yo.
David Spoon:And we throw the yo yo up.
David Spoon:But remember, there is a string attached to it, and then we bring it right back down.
David Spoon:That is not what he wants.
David Spoon:He wants us to surrender to him, to yield to him, to say, yes, lord.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Somebody is on the line.
David Spoon:I assume they're gonna answer trivia or something about those lines.
David Spoon:Let's bring them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Speaker E:Hey, Doctor Spoon, this is Fred.
Speaker E:How you doing?
David Spoon:I'm doing wonderful, Fred.
David Spoon:How you doing?
Speaker E:I'm doing fine, sir.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Are you ready for this one?
David Spoon:I feel in my heart you will get this?
Speaker E:I think so.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:The spies who spied out the land of Canaan said that it flowed with milk and honey.
David Spoon:Milk and honey?
David Spoon:That is correct.
Speaker E:If I know David, can I give just a little little small illustrations.
Speaker E:That's all about meeting our basic needs and even beyond that.
Speaker E:But there's an illustration that my former pastor gave.
Speaker E:He's with Delore now, but he.
Speaker E:We talked about.
Speaker E:He talked about a store in Memphis, and I'm from Memphis, Tennessee, and there was a store, and it's still there now, called a squab.
Speaker E: ,: Speaker E:Other places, they sold you anything that you needed.
Speaker E:If you needed pots, a squab sold pots.
Speaker E:If you needed food, a squab.
Speaker E:Soul food.
Speaker E:Listen, if you needed clothes, a squab.
Speaker E:So close they became so confident they.
Speaker E:That they had what you needed that they built a gigantic pair of COVID up coveralls and placed them in the front of the store.
Speaker E:And they put a sign up under those coveralls that says, if you can't find it here, you're better off without it.
Speaker E:And that's the way it is in the Lord.
Speaker E:If we can't find it in Jesus, we're better off without everything we need is found in Jesus.
Speaker E:He's got it all.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:Good preach.
David Spoon:Good word.
David Spoon:Hey, I do have a listener who wanted to know, and this is just a personal thing, you can answer if you want to, but he wants to know if you know.
David Spoon:Pastor battle, do you know who that is?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:That's all I want to know.
David Spoon:So, Ken.
David Spoon:Yes, he does.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:I don't know.
David Spoon:I don't know who these people are.
David Spoon:I'm just giving that.
David Spoon:I'm communicating one person to another through the show on radio.
Speaker E:I understand.
Speaker E:Yes.
Speaker E:Memphis is a great city for the gospel, and there's a lot of great preachers that came out of Memphis, and we just love you.
Speaker E:David, let me speak for you.
Speaker E:We just love your humor.
Speaker E:We love your teaching, your preaching, everything you putting out, we love it.
Speaker E:And we love you, David.
Speaker E:Thank you so much for being you.
David Spoon:Thank you, brother.
David Spoon:I appreciate it deeply.
David Spoon:I really do.
Speaker E:God bless you.
David Spoon:God bless you, too.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:Excellent word there from Fred.
David Spoon:Does a phenomenal job.
David Spoon:He's just really on fire lately, isn't he?
David Spoon:Love it.
David Spoon:Okay, so milk and honey.
David Spoon:You have to like that.
David Spoon:That's phenomenal.
David Spoon:What a great illustration he gave.
David Spoon:We'll take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kaam, 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Your break will be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker F:What is the David Spoon experience.
Speaker F:Imagine yourself on a rocket ship racing at a thousand miles an hour into space.
Speaker F:Once there, you can sense the power and the presence of the majestic and the divine.
Speaker F:You forget about your troubles and your fears, and you just float in peace without a worry in the world.
Speaker F:There are no struggles, no pain, no discomfort.
Speaker F:It's soothing, calm, comfortable.
Speaker F:But then the show starts and you realize that none of that stuff has anything to do with the show.
Speaker F:What were you thinking?
Speaker F:The David Spoon experience, only for the brave of heart and the board.
David Spoon:Here is your only hint.
David Spoon:Her initials, from a biblical point of view, are a wonderful candy that many of us have eaten.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Like that.
David Spoon:That's a good.
David Spoon:That's a good.
David Spoon:You know, it's a wonderful candy that many of us have eaten.
David Spoon:And I would even say some of them have peanuts in them.
David Spoon:All right, anyhow, bottom line, see if you can figure that out.
David Spoon:No, no.
David Spoon:Just gonna leave it there.
David Spoon:Somebody's calling in.
David Spoon:They're gonna rescue me for myself.
David Spoon:Thank you.
David Spoon:That's very nice of you guys to do that, by the way.
David Spoon:I love it when you call and rescue me.
David Spoon:Do you like my intro, though?
David Spoon:I lost my piece of paper.
David Spoon:That was good.
David Spoon:It's like, what am I doing?
David Spoon:What am I saying?
David Spoon:I have no idea.
David Spoon:All right, so we're gonna have somebody answer the trivia question.
David Spoon:Is that right?
David Spoon:Yep.
David Spoon:Here we go.
David Spoon:Send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
David Spoon:Hey, David.
Speaker G:Will Rogers.
David Spoon:Hey, Will Rogers.
David Spoon:How are you?
David Spoon:I'm great.
David Spoon:I hope you're better.
David Spoon:I'm doing pretty good.
David Spoon:Doing pretty good today.
David Spoon:I appreciate that.
David Spoon:Except the introduction.
David Spoon:My piece of paper I normally read, it was stuck underneath a book.
David Spoon:It was like, wait, where's my intro?
David Spoon:So anyway, it was kind of a phony moment.
David Spoon:All right, my friend, here you go.
David Spoon:Here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:Who called Jesus Rabboni?
David Spoon:And the hint was a great candy that a lot of people like.
Speaker G:Well, I'll tell you, I didn't know.
David Spoon:Until you gave me the hint.
David Spoon:Say that again?
David Spoon:I didn't know what it was till.
Speaker E:You gave the hint.
David Spoon:Mary Magdalene.
David Spoon:That is correct, sir.
David Spoon:It is Mary Magdalene.
David Spoon:I thought that was a pretty good hint.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:Two initials.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:I like peanut.
David Spoon:Eminem.
David Spoon:That's good.
David Spoon:It's got peanuts, right?
David Spoon:Eminem, I like that.
David Spoon:I like all of them.
David Spoon:I was like, you got it.
David Spoon:Good pickup on that, Will.
David Spoon:That was a good pick.
David Spoon:I wanted people to catch that.
David Spoon:Way to go.
David Spoon:Very, very astute.
David Spoon:Good job.
David Spoon:Yes, sir.
David Spoon:You have a blessed day.
David Spoon:All right, thank you, brother.
David Spoon:God bless you.
Speaker F:The David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at KAM 770 the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's K Men 770 the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:We got another trivia question.
David Spoon:We're just all over the place today, but I like these shows cause they're just like, who knows what's gonna happen?
David Spoon:All right, here you go.
David Spoon:This is a pretty good one, but you might have to look it up perhaps.
David Spoon:Here's your trivia question.
David Spoon:After the angels had announced the birth of Jesus Christ and they left the shepherds, what did the shepherds do?
David Spoon:Luke chapter two, verses 15 through 16.
David Spoon:After the angels had announced the birth of Christ and they left the shepherds, what did the shepherds do?
David Spoon:Luke, chapter two, verses 15 through 16.
David Spoon:If you think you know, you can reach out to us.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:She sent this in during the show and I want to share it with everybody.
David Spoon:And I love that she shared this.
David Spoon:So I want you to listen to me.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:I just had some of this conversation with Don.
David Spoon:So Don came in and him and I talked for about 20 minutes or so before the show started.
David Spoon:And we were just chatting back and forth, talking about family.
David Spoon:And we have, it's really good fellowship and I just, we talked about voting and I'm, you know how I am, my position.
David Spoon:I'm not changing it.
David Spoon:It's not going to go anywhere.
David Spoon:It's very simple.
David Spoon:And I actually said the same thing to don.
David Spoon:Look, if a person, for conscience sake, cannot vote, you never ask them to breach their conscience.
David Spoon:That's just something you never do.
David Spoon:Romans 14 makes that absolutely clear.
David Spoon:If a person doesn't vote because they're lazy, that's a sin.
David Spoon:If a person doesn't vote because they're not thinking their vote counts, they're uninformed.
David Spoon:If a person is just uncomfortable because it's a breach between what they think is connection to the world, that's, like I said, entirely different.
David Spoon:But the biggest thing, and him and I were laughing about it is simply, if you don't vote, you cannot whine about it.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:So Jeanette sent me an appraise report and I just want to share it.
David Spoon:She said, God gave me the strength to vote yesterday.
David Spoon:It's not a big deal to some people, but it is for me.
David Spoon:Jeanette struggles physically, and she is just blessed to be able, by the grace of God, to participate and to vote.
David Spoon:So you can't say, well, if you're not actually able to, then that is actually.
David Spoon:That's highly legitimate.
David Spoon:But she even went out of her way, is giving God acknowledgment and praise that she was able to participate and vote.
David Spoon:And we encourage you to vote.
David Spoon:We'll never tell you who to vote for, but I will tell you, you must do everything you do, every decision you make in connection and in alignment with the Lord.
David Spoon:There's no if, ands or buts about it, okay?
David Spoon:There's no.
David Spoon:No goofy anything.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:I'm just saying that's straightforward.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:Now, on the trivia question, we did ask the trivia question, and I do have somebody on hold.
David Spoon:Thank you for letting them bear with me.
David Spoon:I asked the angels, you know, after they told about the birth, about Christ, what did the shepherds do?
David Spoon:We have somebody ready to answer a trivia question?
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
Speaker H:Hi, David.
David Spoon:Hi.
Speaker H:Hi.
Speaker H:This is Deborah.
Speaker H:And I think I have the answer.
David Spoon:You think you have the answer?
Speaker H:You know, Fred called in, and I'm so glad he called in to answer the other question, because he blessed me.
David Spoon:He blessed me.
David Spoon:Amen.
Speaker H:Like you say, he's on fire.
David Spoon:Yeah.
Speaker H:After the angels came and told those shepherds, if I'm correct, they followed the star to find the little baby in the manger.
Speaker H:And they brought him some gifts, frankincense and myrrh.
David Spoon:Okay?
Speaker H:Is that part of it?
David Spoon:That's not what happened.
David Spoon:But let me tell you how you're gonna get there, okay?
David Spoon:You're talking about the wise men.
David Spoon:And the wise men followed the star.
David Spoon:So before that process, the shepherds who were out there, the angels popped open in the sky, and with myriads and myriads of angels, they made the declaration of the birth of Christ.
David Spoon:And they told the shepherds, which, by the way, is a phenomenal teaching, because who found out first?
David Spoon:The people that were in charge or the servants?
David Spoon:The servants found out first.
David Spoon:They were the shepherds that heard it first.
David Spoon:And they.
David Spoon:What did they do once they heard that?
David Spoon:If you want to verify it, what do you do?
David Spoon:How do you verify it?
David Spoon:How do you verify it?
Speaker H:You go and look in the word.
David Spoon:But for them, they were told that Jesus was born in Bethlehem.
David Spoon:How would you verify that if you were a shepherd, you would go to.
David Spoon:You would go to Bethlehem, you would go see it.
David Spoon:You would go check it out, right?
David Spoon:Exactly.
David Spoon:That's what you would do.
David Spoon:So what happened?
David Spoon:Oh, you're welcome.
David Spoon:So, for the shepherds, they were like, wait, this big thing just happened.
David Spoon:The Christ was born, the messiah was born.
David Spoon:Let's go see.
David Spoon:And they went and checked it out, and that's when they found out.
David Spoon:They were like, all right.
David Spoon:The Lord told us first.
David Spoon:Yay.
David Spoon:Exactly what it is.
David Spoon:That's good, though.
David Spoon:And see, the wise men?
David Spoon:That's a great.
David Spoon:We'll talk about that as we get to Christmas.
David Spoon:Cause there's some really cool stuff about the wise men.
David Spoon:I mean, just some really fascinating stuff.
David Spoon:Like, nobody ever talks about how a star ends up sitting over a house.
David Spoon:Ah, that's wild.
Speaker H:And in the morning, I go out with my doggie, and I look at the stars, and they're awesome.
Speaker H:And I just thank God for blessing us with his artistry.
David Spoon:Amen.
David Spoon:Isn't it awesome?
David Spoon:The graciousness, the goodness of God.
David Spoon:We can't count how many things he's done for us.
David Spoon:We could never give enough thanks for all the graciousness he's showed us.
Speaker H:Hallelujah.
Speaker H:Hallelujah.
Speaker H:Well, I know I've taken much of your time, so thank you so much for being a blessing to all your listeners.
David Spoon:It's my privilege.
David Spoon:My privilege.
David Spoon:And thank you for calling and being a blessing to the audience.
Speaker H:Thank you, sir.
Speaker H:Have a good day.
Speaker H:God bless you.
David Spoon:God bless you.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Fun stuff, right?
David Spoon:Okay, so I'm supposed to break.
David Spoon:I'm not breaking.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:I'm not breaking.
David Spoon:Now I got to get to this.
David Spoon:This thing is so cool.
David Spoon:I want to get to this because it's really important.
David Spoon:Listen, certain people in the christian faith have an easier time, and I've mentioned this before, walking in a complete sense of dependence.
David Spoon:And then other people have a much more difficult time, don't they?
David Spoon:I mean, that's just the truth.
David Spoon:It's hard sometimes.
David Spoon:And for me, ironically, and I don't know if you guys can relate to this or not.
David Spoon:For me, I have a harder time in specific areas.
David Spoon:So, like, some areas that I walk in, I just like, oh, the Lord will handle it.
David Spoon:Right?
David Spoon:It's, like, super easy.
David Spoon:And then there's other areas where I'm like, uh oh.
David Spoon:So that's kind of, like, the tension.
David Spoon:And I kind of think that's probably true for a lot of people.
David Spoon:Here's the thing.
David Spoon:That I'm going to use.
David Spoon:I'm going to use this story, and I'm going to use it on purpose.
David Spoon:So that you can understand how powerful the Lord really is in these things.
David Spoon:In Exodus 17, if you remember this story, Israel was in a warfare with Amalek, and they were fighting.
David Spoon:And so Moses told Joshua, hey, I'll pick it up in verse nine.
David Spoon:Choose some men, go out and fight the army of Amalek.
David Spoon:And tomorrow I'll stand at the top of the hill, hold the staff of God in my hand.
David Spoon:So JoshuA did what moses had commanded.
David Spoon:And fought the army of Amalek.
David Spoon:Meanwhile, Moses and Aaron and Hur.
David Spoon:Climbed to the top of a nearby hill.
David Spoon:As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage.
David Spoon:But whenever he dropped his hand, the amalekites gained the advantage.
David Spoon:So Moses arms soon became too tired.
David Spoon:So he could no longer hold them up.
David Spoon:So AarOn and her found a stone for him to sit on.
David Spoon:They stood on each side of moses, holding up his hands.
David Spoon:So his hands held steadily until sunset.
David Spoon:As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.
David Spoon:After the victory, the Lord instructed moses.
David Spoon:Write this down on the scroll as a permanent reminder.
David Spoon:And read it aloud to JosHua.
David Spoon:I will erase the memory of Amalek from under heaven.
David Spoon:Moses built an altar there and named it Yahweh Nisi, which means, the Lord is my banner, for those that don't know.
David Spoon:And I was just studying this today, which just tells me how bizarre this is.
David Spoon:A banner is a rallying point in an army.
David Spoon:It's a point of rallying and infusing encouragement and regeneration.
David Spoon:So as Moses held up the staff, Israel would prevail, because it was that staff that was representing.
David Spoon:And specifically showing complete dependence on the Lord.
David Spoon:And so the idea is that Israel could not beat this army without that staff.
David Spoon:And that staff was the inspiration, by the way, to cross the Red Sea.
David Spoon:But there's this formula that's connected, and I don't like formulas, but I'll give you one anyway.
David Spoon:And that is simply this.
David Spoon:To become victorious, Israel had to first be dependent on the staff of the Lord being seen.
David Spoon:And you have to do the same thing, and I have to do the same thing.
David Spoon:It's like, I know I can quote scripture ad nauseam.
David Spoon:I mean, just to be honest, in a lot of cases.
David Spoon:And guess what?
David Spoon:That doesn't change the reality that there's too much pride and too much roughiness in me.
David Spoon:I'm using roughiness in a weird way.
David Spoon:But it's like, I just.
David Spoon:I need to be like, look, I need to be more dependent in those things that I'm trying to be more independent on.
David Spoon:I want you to really catch that.
David Spoon:There are things that I need to be more dependent on, that I need to operate in less of my independence.
David Spoon:Now, I'm not saying all independence is bad.
David Spoon:Obviously, freedom is a great thing, and there's all that stuff.
David Spoon:But you and I just, in this honest kind of christian realm, know, look, you're not gonna beat that army unless the Lord's staff, the Lord's image is connected to it.
David Spoon:And if we wanna be more victorious, we need to learn how to be better dependent on the Lord.
David Spoon:I got a message for you.
David Spoon:It's really straightforward.
David Spoon:God doesn't lose, okay?
David Spoon:He never loses.
David Spoon:He has a perfect record.
David Spoon:And there's this dependency that we need to really live in and really understand.
David Spoon:I want to point this out about King David.
David Spoon:I would say he's my namesake, but that wasn't true.
David Spoon:My parents didn't name me David because of King David, although I tell people from time to time I was named after a king because it's funny.
David Spoon:But the idea is that David, when he faced Goliath.
David Spoon:I'm just asking you real quickly, right?
David Spoon:David did not function independent of God.
David Spoon:There is no way David, independent of God could have beat the giant.
David Spoon:In fact, when David went to war with Goliath, can we just all be honest?
David Spoon:Because nobody in the world could imagine this.
David Spoon:Goliath had a sword and David had rocks.
David Spoon:You know, you've heard that expression, don't bring a knife to a gunfight.
David Spoon:Okay, this goes way past that.
David Spoon:And what he was depending on was the Lord.
David Spoon:Cause you're not supposed to be able to beat this ch.
David Spoon:And by the way, Goliath wasn't a rookie.
David Spoon:He was a champion.
David Spoon:He had killed multiple people and had been in multiple warfares.
David Spoon:And David, to that point, have killed lions and bears.
David Spoon:You know, tigers and lions and bears.
David Spoon:Oh, my.
David Spoon:I mean, he'd only been killed, but David was dependent on the Lord.
David Spoon:And he took what he was comfortable with, ironically, because he was comfortable slinging.
David Spoon:And he trusted that God would infuse that to give him victory over a Goliath.
David Spoon:You have goliaths in your life.
David Spoon:Let me explain to you.
David Spoon:In the beginning of this process, David tried to put on the armor that Saul offered him, and he wasn't used to it.
David Spoon:So he couldn't fight in it.
David Spoon:He couldn't do it.
David Spoon:So he had to go with what he was connected in the Lord with, and you and I have Goliath that we have to face.
David Spoon:And instead of trying to put on some new armor or some new approach or some new thing, we have to be dependent on the Lord using the things that we're comfortable in the Lord with and we know that God can take those things and help us be victorious.
David Spoon:And wait, wait.
David Spoon:I'm not.
David Spoon:Just think about the simplicity of this.
David Spoon:You have something you have to tackle, so to speak.
David Spoon:You have something you have to overcome by yourself.
David Spoon:You can do decent but not always victorious.
David Spoon:And sometimes you can't even do decent, but with God you have the never lose formula.
David Spoon:So stop trying to do it on your own.
David Spoon:Stop telling God.
David Spoon:And this is the thing that I do.
David Spoon:I'm sure I'm the only Christian in the world who does this.
David Spoon:Stop telling God.
David Spoon:I'm going to commit it to you.
David Spoon:And then within five minutes or 15 minutes, then I'm doing everything I can in my power to get it done.
David Spoon:See, that is not trusting.
David Spoon:I'm going through the book with Jacob, the faith that pleases God.
David Spoon:And I found 400 trillion mistakes.
David Spoon:I always find mistakes.
David Spoon:I think it's that Lord's funny thing with me.
David Spoon:So anyway, I'm going through it and I'm rereading the story about when I got a job.
David Spoon:I told this before and it's true, there's nothing to change.
David Spoon: So I'm sitting there in: David Spoon:My mother told me if I didn't get a job, I was getting kicked out of the house.
David Spoon:She wouldn't have done it, but I knew she was serious when she's dropping lines like that.
David Spoon:So I was decided I was going to get a job.
David Spoon: So what do you do in: David Spoon:There's no, indeed, there's no, you know, you know, there's no websites, none of that stuff's going on.
David Spoon: What do you do in: David Spoon:What do you do?
David Spoon:You grab the classifieds.
David Spoon:You grab the classifieds and you read them, right?
David Spoon:So I'm doing that and then I stop and I say, you know what you keep telling me, Lord?
David Spoon:That I can do things in this dependence thing.
David Spoon:I'm going to stop.
David Spoon:I'm going to put the paper down.
David Spoon:And I did and I said, I'm asking you to bring me a job.
David Spoon:I don't know how else to do it.
David Spoon:I don't know what else to say.
David Spoon:I'm just asking.
David Spoon:I'm not going to do all the things that I normally do to make it happen.
David Spoon:I'm going to ask you to bring me a job.
David Spoon:That's it.
David Spoon:I'm done.
David Spoon:Bring me a job.
David Spoon:I'm done.
David Spoon:I walked out the front door.
David Spoon:Ben, who was the landscaper at our house, said, dave, do you need a job?
David Spoon:I said, yes, I do.
David Spoon:And I worked for Ben for two and a half years, on and off.
David Spoon:And he was a Christian.
David Spoon:Only God could pull that off.
David Spoon:Sometimes you have to put the classifieds down.
David Spoon:Sometimes you have to stop trying to make it happen.
David Spoon:Sometimes you have to let it go and let the Lord do it.
David Spoon:And what's amazing about that is he had a job waiting for me 200ft away.
David Spoon:I didn't even know it, but he did.
David Spoon:That dependence on the Lord, especially for those of us who don't do a good job of that, that's your victory, that's your praise, that's your moment.
David Spoon:You get it.
David Spoon:That's powerful, isn't it?
David Spoon:It's like, wow.
David Spoon:And you remember when you used to be like that?
David Spoon:Well, let's get like that again.
David Spoon:How about that?
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:We're going to take our break and then come back.
David Spoon:You're listening to the David Spoon experience right here on Kam, 770, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:Short break.
David Spoon:We'll be back.
David Spoon:Don't go anywhere.
Speaker F:Hey there.
Speaker F:It's amazing.
Speaker F:Jennifer and I am helping out the David Spoon experience.
Speaker F:As you may know, I basically run the Kam radio station.
Speaker E:Amazing.
Speaker F:And Doctor Dave is looking for a few good people to join and become representatives, representatives, ambassadors and stewards of this here radio ministry.
Speaker F:Now, you may be thinking, well, I'd love to get involved, but I'm not very qualified for ministerial positions.
Speaker F:Well, the truth is that because you are a child of our heavenly Father, that you trust in the Lord Jesus Christ and you seek to live by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Speaker F:You have all you need to be a part of this ministry.
Speaker F:But, Jennifer, don't I need to be perfect?
Speaker F:No, just go to hemustincrease.org.
Speaker F:that's hemustincrease.org.
Speaker F:dot click on the three lines at the top right of the website and then click on the ambassador's initiative link.
Speaker F:Just fill out the form and we will reach out to you.
Speaker F:But sorry, no parking tickets will be paid for you as an ambassador through this position, you are on your own.
Speaker I:With that, the christian faith is being attacked.
Speaker I:50 years ago, people would disagree with Christianity, but with a sense of respect, those days are over.
Speaker I:The rage.
Speaker I:The flesh the enemy.
Speaker I:And the atmosphere of sin is growing and growing.
Speaker I:Jesus said in Matthew 24, the love of many will grow cold.
Speaker I:And if it's not the end now, it's certainly a lot closer than it was yesterday.
Speaker I:You may be from a baptist background.
Speaker I:David Spoon has that.
Speaker I:You may have a pentecostal background.
Speaker I:He has that too.
Speaker I:You may have a non denominational background.
Speaker I:Yep, he's got that as well.
Speaker I:You may be from the church of Christ, Presbyterian, Methodist Church of God or some other denomination.
Speaker I:But if you're looking for a show that's Bible based, spirit led and a bit nutty, give David a listen for a while.
Speaker I:If you like it, great.
Speaker I:If not, no worries.
Speaker I:The David spoon experience.
Speaker I:What is the David Spoon experience?
David Spoon:John 724.
David Spoon:Stop judging by mere appearance and make a right judgment.
David Spoon:That's all?
David Spoon:That's all.
David Spoon:Good.
David Spoon:From one corinthians six two.
David Spoon:Do you not know that the saints will judge the world?
David Spoon:And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases?
David Spoon:You can't say christians can't judge.
David Spoon:They're commanded to.
David Spoon:Here it is right here.
David Spoon:Ready?
David Spoon:Here's the bowling ball knocking down the pins every day.
David Spoon:As Christians, we have to judge what is appropriate, proper, healthy and useful.
David Spoon:Also what people we believe we should hang out with, trust, believe in or let influence.
David Spoon:We have to judge that on a regular basis.
David Spoon:When you choose your church, you're using your judgment abilities.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:Bazinga.
David Spoon:I love that because, listen, when you're choosing your church, you have to decide to pick one over another.
David Spoon:Oh, here's the key.
David Spoon:You're gonna hate me.
David Spoon:Ready?
Speaker F:Here it is.
David Spoon:If we have no ability to judge, we can't vote.
David Spoon:Welcome back to the David Spoon experience.
David Spoon:Thank you for joining us here at Kaam seven, the truth station here in Texas.
David Spoon:That's k double amen, 770, the truth station here in Texas, where we have another challenging trivia question.
David Spoon:See if we can get this one in.
David Spoon:This is a challenging one.
David Spoon:Okay.
David Spoon:When Jesus told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, what was he referring to?
David Spoon:Matthew, chapter 16, verse twelve.
David Spoon:When Jesus told the disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, what was he referring to?
David Spoon:What was he specifically keying in on?
David Spoon:He said, told the disciples, be aware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
David Spoon:What was he talking about?
David Spoon:Matthew, chapter 16, verse twelve.
David Spoon:And if you think you know Matthew, chapter 16, verse twelve.
David Spoon: -: David Spoon:So we haven't done history or jokes for a while.
David Spoon:So let's do Jacob.
David Spoon:Let's do history.
David Spoon:All right, so today is national Boston cream pie day.
David Spoon:So I just don't see how anybody can complain.
David Spoon:Is that impossible to complain on that right there?
Jammin Jacob:No, no, you can't complain with that.
David Spoon:You can't complain about that.
David Spoon:All right?
David Spoon:Somebody's getting offended at this.
David Spoon:This is not intended to offend anybody, but I am telling you this so you can know.
David Spoon:It's a piece of history.
David Spoon:Don't get mad at me.
David Spoon:1992, on this day, a woman was detained for having an unusually large buttock.
David Spoon:She was attempting to smuggle a pound and a half of heroin in her clothing, and so they arrested her because apparently it was obvious.
David Spoon:So I'm just gonna leave that there.
David Spoon:You can all just figure that out on your own.
David Spoon:Today, by the way, is also.
David Spoon:People are like, why would you bring that up?
David Spoon:It's in the history.
David Spoon:I didn't write the history today, and I'm only gonna do this for one person and one person only, because everybody now is just horrible at this.
David Spoon:But today is supposed to be tv talk show host day, and there's only one person that deserves to be recognized of all the others, and that is Johnny Carson, who was the actual, the king of late night television, because all the rest of them are just pathetic.
David Spoon:That's all I'm gonna say.
David Spoon:But Johnny Carson, he was great.
David Spoon:Okay?
David Spoon:That's all I'm gonna say.
David Spoon:Just gonna leave it there.
Jammin Jacob:The only time that I find the late night talk shows, like, on my tv is when I lead whatever channel on is for, like, if, like, I'm watching, like, Sunday Night Football, and then I just leave the channel on and I come back, I'm like, oh, that's on.
Jammin Jacob:And then I'll change it.
David Spoon:It's just terrible.
David Spoon:And he was.
David Spoon:I mean, it wasn't perfect or anything that, but he was.
David Spoon:He was brilliant at asking questions.
David Spoon:He was entertaining, and he was totally equally offensive.
David Spoon:He wasn't one sided, which was really great.
Jammin Jacob:I'm actually surprised the talk shows now are still, like, going on to.
Jammin Jacob:Cause I don't.
Jammin Jacob:I mean, does anybody really watch them like they used to?
David Spoon:Funny.
David Spoon:You should say that because there has been some discussion in some of the broadcast companies for getting rid of the talk show hosts.
Jammin Jacob:Oh, there you go.
David Spoon:There you go.
David Spoon:Wanna know why?
David Spoon:Cause they're not Johnny Carson, that's why.
Jammin Jacob:Okay, what day was it yesterday that we missed?
Jammin Jacob:You mentioned after the show.
David Spoon:Yeah.
David Spoon:What was it?
David Spoon:It was.
David Spoon:Oh, pretzels.
Jammin Jacob:Yeah.
Jammin Jacob:Pretzel day.
David Spoon:We missed pretzel day.
David Spoon:I know, that's sad.
David Spoon:I like pretzels.
David Spoon:I like that.
David Spoon:I like.
David Spoon:I like peanut filled pretzels.
David Spoon:I like soft pretzels.
David Spoon:Hard pretzels.
David Spoon:I like all the.
David Spoon:I like all those pretzels.
Jammin Jacob:I like the pizza one.
Jammin Jacob:Do you want the pepperonis on the pretzel?
Jammin Jacob:That one's good.
David Spoon:Oh, yeah, that's good too.
David Spoon:Thanks.
David Spoon:Now I'm hungry.
David Spoon:Thank you very much.
David Spoon:Okay, back to the trivia question.
David Spoon:When Jesus told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees to what was he referring?
David Spoon: Matthew: David Spoon: -: David Spoon:And then David mustincrease.org is the email.
David Spoon:We're going to probably have some disagreement on the answer to that trivia question, so I'm just going to give you the answer that's coming out of the book.
David Spoon:Instead of getting mad at me, you can get mad at the that wrote the book.
David Spoon:Here's this last purposeful teach that I want to get in before we stop and are done for the show.
David Spoon:This is judges chapter seven, verses four through seven.
David Spoon:But the Lord told Gideon, there are still too many of you.
David Spoon:Bring them down to the spring and I will test them to determine who will go with you and who will not.
David Spoon:When Gideon took his warriors down to the water, the Lord told them, divide the men into two groups.
David Spoon:In one group, put all those who cup water in their hands and lap it up with their tongues like dogs.
David Spoon:And the other group put all those who kneel down and drink with their mouths into the stream.
David Spoon:Only 300 of the men drank from their hands, and all others got down on their knees and drank with their mouth in the stream.
David Spoon:The Lord told Gideon, with these 300 men, I will rescue you and give you victory over the Midianites.
David Spoon:Send all the others home.
David Spoon:So I think we don't understand that.
David Spoon:There were quite a few people that Israel could count on, and God stripped them down on purpose to 300 people against what many have considered to be 142,000.
David Spoon:Did you hear what I just said?
David Spoon:There is no way that 300 people can defeat 142,000 unless God is involved.
David Spoon:And with God being involved, because Gideon trusted in the Lord, the Lord poured confusion into the Midianite camp and they killed one another.
David Spoon:From that point of view, 300 might not even have been needed.
David Spoon:From that point of view, it didn't matter because it was the Lord.
David Spoon:And you're thinking, but that's not how you should run a campaign.
David Spoon:That's not how a military campaign should go.
David Spoon:And here's the response.
David Spoon:God doesn't care.
David Spoon:But that's not how a normal person would approach this thing.
David Spoon:A normal person wouldn't put away the newspaper.
David Spoon:They would do, God doesn't care.
David Spoon:And in your life, if you want to impress God, have faith to believe that he not only can, but that he will do it.
David Spoon:Don't get stuck on a well.
David Spoon:He can do it.
David Spoon:You got to believe he will do it.
David Spoon:You get that?
David Spoon:We're going to get to this caller in a second, but I want you to catch this complete dependence on the Lord.
David Spoon:He doesn't need your help.
David Spoon:Did you get that?
David Spoon:All right, we have somebody.
David Spoon:Do they want to answer the trivia question?
David Spoon:Let's send them on through.
David Spoon:Knock, knock.
David Spoon:This is David.
David Spoon:Who am I talking to?
David Spoon:Hello.
Speaker G:Hello, David.
Speaker G:This is Alan.
David Spoon:Hello, Alan.
David Spoon:How are you?
Speaker E:I'm good.
David Spoon:Okay.
Speaker G:I'm blessed and highly favored.
David Spoon:Blessed and highly favored.
David Spoon:What an excellent, excellent statement.
David Spoon:Let me set you up on the trivia question.
David Spoon:We're going to have a little bit of.
David Spoon:A little bit of tassel with this.
David Spoon:Because some people.
David Spoon:We've got a couple different directions, but let me share it.
David Spoon:Jesus told his disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
David Spoon:What was he referring to?
Speaker G:To sin.
David Spoon:No, but what is it that they were doing?
David Spoon:Here, let me help you.
David Spoon:They were doing.
David Spoon:They were communicating in such a way.
David Spoon:And so Jesus wanted them to be careful because of their.
David Spoon:Of their.
David Spoon:What was it that they were offering people?
David Spoon:They wouldn't tell me.
David Spoon:Do you remember your first grade instructor?
David Spoon:What did you call her?
Speaker G:My teacher?
David Spoon:Yes.
David Spoon:So now, there you go.
David Spoon:So that's what Jesus was talking about.
David Spoon:Jesus, yeah.
David Spoon:I knew I was going to pull it out of you.
David Spoon:Jesus told them to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees.
David Spoon:He was concerned about their doctrine or their teaching.
David Spoon:Teaching that it was false and antichrist oriented.
David Spoon:And anti God oriented.
David Spoon:And that's what he was talking about when he was talking about the leaven.
Speaker G:Gotcha, David.
Speaker G:Good teaching.
David Spoon:You have to think about it.
David Spoon:Because he's like, you put a little leaven in that and it's going to just destroy everything.
David Spoon:And false teaching does exactly that.
Speaker G:Right?
Speaker G:Yeah, I know.
Speaker G:Back when they had the passover a little bit leaven would have.
Speaker G:Would have missed the whole.
Speaker G:The whole.
David Spoon:Correct bread.
David Spoon:That's right.
David Spoon:That's where that reference was.
David Spoon:By the way, how are you doing?
David Spoon:Missionary?
David Spoon:Why?
David Spoon:Is everything going well?
Speaker G:It's going well.
Speaker G:I'm.
Speaker G:Like I said, I'm just blessed and highly favored.
David Spoon:Amen, brother.
David Spoon:And we will get together.
Speaker G:Water in the grass.
Speaker G:It's all dying.
David Spoon:Love it.
David Spoon:Love it.
David Spoon:And I take it you got that response that I sent you in regards to your reach out.
David Spoon:Did you get that?
Speaker G:No, I didn't.
Speaker G:But I'll check it out.
Speaker G:I know that.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:Make sure to do it.
David Spoon:All right, I'll check it out.
David Spoon:All right.
David Spoon:My brother and I want you to do me a favor.
David Spoon:I want you to be blessed in the Lord.
Speaker G:Blessed in the Lord.
Speaker G:You got it.
David Spoon:All right, my brother.
David Spoon:Thank you.
Speaker G:Blessed and highly favored.
Speaker G:Thank you much.
David Spoon:All right, take care.
Speaker G:Have a blessed day.
Speaker G:Thanks.
David Spoon:Bye bye.
David Spoon:All right, ladies and gentlemen, you've been listening to the David spoon experience right here on KAM 770, the true station here in Texas.
