Corey:

Welcome to Quest Happens, a slapstick, noob, friendly actual play Dungeons and Dragons podcast where our players search for the meaning in their lives while suffering from negative, never ending side quests. Will they ever find their own personal main quest or will they be cursed to wander the lands bouncing from quest to quest?

I guess you'll have to find out in Quest Happens. And welcome to Quest Happens, the actual play podcast where we try to play Dungeons and Dragons.

Welcome to the very, very first episode, technically episode zero of the podcast where we will be world building today and hanging out. I am your dungeon master, Corey Keller and I'm joined today by three amazing people.

And I think at the very start of this podcast we should probably introduce everybody. So let's just go down the line and. Yeah. Who are you? A little bit about yourself and I guess if you're excited to play.

Nick:

My name is Nick Jackson. This is the first podcast I've ever been on in my entire life. But I'm happy to be here and we have good company at the table. I like.

Corey:

They'll get here eventually.

Nick:

Yeah, they'll be. I like. I like to do small local businesses and that's what I'm into.

Corey:

Nice.

Nathan:

What a hobby.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Businesses.

Nick:

Yeah. I have a hankering for punishment.

Corey:

That's what they say. So you gotta live out a fantasy world to kind of get out of that and come join this podcast, right?

Nick:

Absolutely.

Corey:

Well, we're excited for Nick to be here. That is player number one. Who do we have for player number two?

Nathan:

I guess that's me. My name is Nathan. I'm an artist and an animator and now a podcaster.

Nick:

Oh yeah.

Nathan:

Should I say anything about my character yet?

Corey:

Not yet. We're going to save that till the end. So if you're listening. Yes. Wait till the end.

We will be introducing some characters, but anything else interesting about you, Nathan? Is that about as interesting as it gets?

Nathan:

That's about it. I like to draw for money.

Corey:

Is that the only thing you do for money?

Nathan:

No, but we're not going to talk about that.

Corey:

Oh, that's our separate podcast.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Those are secrets.

Lauren:

He has a Instagram account that you in a YouTube that you can follow.

Nathan:

That's.

Corey:

That is true. Okay, maybe never.

Nathan:

We could just never do that. That would also be cool.

Corey:

All right, who else we got down there? Last but not least.

Lauren:

My name is Lauren and I'm wife to the DM. And let's see, this is the second D&D podcast I've done. Still just awkward. And I am a high school counselor.

Therapist Slash business partner to the local business guy here as well, though.

Corey:

It's almost like we're all interconnected somehow.

Lauren:

Yes.

Nathan:

Yeah, I get this feeling, kind of friends, that you're right. Like a friend.

Lauren:

Who are you guys like that.

Nick:

It's a lot like that. Yeah.

Nathan:

I wouldn't say friends, but, like, it's like a friend's vibe.

Corey:

Yeah, that's true.

Nick:

Definite vibe. Yeah.

Corey:

Someone's got to be Chandler and. Oh, not that friend. Scott. Yes. Well, thank you all so much for.

We had this idea to start this podcast, and I knew that we all click so well, and I figured, what the heck, let's give it a shot. I think that we got that chemistry there, and we just love to have fun.

We've all have experience in Dungeons and Dragons, so if you are new to Dungeons and Dragons, perfect, because we don't. We're not going to play the game right. And we're just going to have fun.

If you are someone who loves Dungeons Dragons, is really heavy into the rules, you might be a little sad when you hear this podcast, because we are going to play things loose on this podcast. We are sticking to the Dungeons and Dragons rules, but we do like to play loose.

I like to pick story over rules, and so if the story is great, we will bend and break the rules. This podcast is all about having fun, being silly, slapping some comedy in there, and loosey goosey. Yeah, loosey goosey.

And trying not to cry at night. Oh, that's not it.

Lauren:

That's my goal.

Corey:

Yeah, it's a goal for all of us.

Nathan:

He says that now and then. Wait for the party wipe.

Corey:

Party wipe. First episode.

Nick:

I'm here because Corey was my first Dungeon Master, and since then, he's kind of taken over my life.

Corey:

Oh, that is true.

Nathan:

Sounds kind of creepy, you guys.

Nick:

What? Did you guys have an option to.

Lauren:

Show up or did you know I'm married?

Nathan:

You're not getting paid to be here.

Nick:

Wait, a show. Can we.

Nathan:

Can you pause this 15 an hour.

Nick:

There's something we need to talk about.

Corey:

I just like him more. He's getting paid more. I'm sorry.

Lauren:

I'm getting paid in good living.

Nick:

I got to go.

Corey:

But, yeah, that's true. I was your first Dungeon Master, right?

Nick:

That's right. I learned everything I know.

Corey:

So how long have you been playing Dungeons and Dragons?

Nick:

I think the first time we played was, like, three or four years ago, and it was a wild situation. I was like, what are we doing here? And we played with a wild one, a screwball named Blake.

Corey:

Oh, yeah, that's right.

Nathan:

It's always one of those.

Nick:

We were like deep in the plot and he. He was new too, and he was like, so I can do whatever I want. And we were in a tavern and there was a haystack in the side.

And we finally met these guys who'd been searching for. And he just blew. He blew like a fireball at the haystack.

Nathan:

Fireball.

Nick:

And he rolled a 20 or something.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

The whole thing went up, killed the town. And we were all like, what are you doing? And I was like, man, this is the craziest thing I've seen.

All these, like semi adult folks all freaking out about a fake tavern, playing it like, what? And I was upset about that. We had, like, issues. Shouldn't have done that, dude. You shouldn't have done that.

Corey:

He was a loose cannon. I definitely remember that.

Lauren:

He still plays that way.

Corey:

Yeah. Nathan, how long have you been playing Dungeons and Dragons?

Nathan:

What is time? I think I. First time I played was before COVID Sorry to bring up Covid.

Nick:

Pre Covid, but like, dang.

Nathan:

I think so at least six years ago.

Corey:

Okay.

Nathan:

But I haven't played that much D and D. But yeah, I played it with a group of friends before and I was. Oh, I'm not supposed to have to edit that out. You can say what you want from top. From top.

Corey:

I'll bleep it out.

Nathan:

So welcome to Quest App. No, but wait, are you taking.

Corey:

Are you the host?

Nathan:

No. Six years ago, I played D and D for the first time. And then I continue to play D and D with Corey over here. DM. He's a great DM.

He's really good at it at DMing and no pressure. Yeah, I mean, he's the best there ever was. Like, get ready.

Lauren:

Agreed.

Nathan:

Put your seatbelts on, listener.

Corey:

Moving on. Lauren, how long have you been playing Dungeons Dragons?

Lauren:

Well, I am somebody that I like. This was offered to me like in high school, like 20 years ago. And I was like, no, I'm not that Dorothy. I'm not that Dorothy.

And then, let's see, like 10 years later, Corey and I started playing with a group of people when we lived in Tulsa. And I was like, actually this is pretty fun. And it's really, I don't know, helped with thinking on your feet.

And it's a social, like a funny social activity. And so it's what, been like probably 10, 12 years?

Corey:

Yeah, probably about 12 years.

Lauren:

And I still don't know anything, so can ask a lot of questions still.

Corey:

Nice. Well, that's at least we all have some experience with Dungeons and Dragons. And that's kind of the bell which.

Nathan:

Marks the beginning of the game.

Corey:

Lauren knocked over the lamp. I'm sorry we are playing in a tight space today, but that's okay. Yeah.

So I've been DMing for about 12 years because I was the somebody needed to DM and I was the one who stepped up to do it. And I've been the forever DM since. Although I have been getting to play lately with Nick's campaign who's he's been running a D and D session.

I've been hopping in there and getting to play and so that feels nice to not have to be the one who always comes up with a story and I can just relax and kill.

Nick:

Things practicing all you taught me.

Corey:

Yeah, there we go. So I know all the moves.

Lauren:

And then asking me the next day if the decisions you made were good decisions. Like would Cory do this?

Nick:

What would Corey do in this situation?

Corey:

Well, awesome. Well, I have invited you all here today to play a game before we get to the real episode one today. Like I said, it is our session zero.

So I have gathered our players here today so we can build a world together. So I don't want to do anything yet until we build a world and then that'll kind of dictate where the story is going to go.

I have written very little so far. I know the, the. The beginnings, the middles, the ends, but I don't know the details. We are going to fill in the details today of this world.

Our own D D world that we are going to make.

Nick:

Foreign.

Corey:

Yes. So the game is going to be called I have no idea what I am doing A Chaotic world building game.

It is a game that I designed for us to be able to build this world together. And after this world is built, it'll give me a better idea of what to incorporate into our game.

You all have taken on the roles of newly appointed demigods who have been tasked with creating a new world. But they were given no instructions on how to do it and they only get one hour to do build the world.

And every time someone adds to the world, chaos or comedy ensues. So I've already shared a little bit to the players but I will share to the audience listening.

Now, the way this game works, this game is played over three rounds that we do over and over and over again. So the three rounds are repeated.

The way it's going to work is every player is going to have one D20 and one D6 and we are going to have a one hour time limit to play this game. In that one hour we will go player by player, starting with, we're actually going to start with Nick. Then we'll go to Lauren, then to Nathan.

You start by rolling a D6 and this is called the birth of the World. When you roll a D6 you can either get the land, the sky, the waters, the beings, the magic, or the rules.

And those are things you're going to implement into the world.

So say you roll the land, you get to describe a continent, an island or a floating mass and you can also name it whatever you roll the sky, you can hang what hangs above the world. Moons, clouds, birds or something absolutely strange and bat crazy. You get to decide. You can go as absurd or as simple as you want to be.

After you've rolled your creation prompt, everyone will do that. And that'll be round one. We'll go to round two, we'll start back with Nick again. And in the second round the great oops happens.

This is where chaos ensues. If you, in the first round, if you did say the sky, right, that's what you created.

In the second round you'll roll a D20 on the sky table and there are 20 chaos effects. I'm not going to read them because I want them to pop up naturally and then we'll see what happens.

Chaos can be things like the world or the mountains get turned upside down, or it's raining syrup, whatever. You just read it and then describe how that comes to happen. Then in round three, you will describe two things about the thing that just happened.

So if it was land and some crazy chaos happens, then you'll describe two scenarios. The other players will vote which they think is better and then that is now canon in the story, in the world. And we will do that for one whole hour.

I will set a timer and when the hour is up, we'll tighten things up. We'll name the world at that point.

So you all get to come up with a name and then share any last minute details that you think will help kind of piece things together. And then we will get into introducing your characters into this world.

So make sure listeners, you are listening to the end after we create the world because at the end they will be introducing their characters and you'll get to know a little bit about what happens there. So are you all ready to play this world building game?

Nathan:

Oh yeah. It seems like a lot, but once we get going, I'm not.

Nick:

I don't know if I'm ready.

Corey:

Also, I have given each player three tokens. At any time during the game, they can spend one of their tokens to reroll either their Chaos die or their D6, which is creating things.

So you have your three tokens to spend. You can use them at any time during the game just to reroll your own dice. All right, so we're going to start.

I'm going to start the timer, and then we're going to it. Oh, also, what kind of demigod are you, Nick?

Nick:

I'm a demigod who has light just shining out of the middle of it. And you can't see. I am, like, humanoid, but you can't see my face because you're like, dude, can you just. You just turn the light down a little bit?

Corey:

It's behind the old school lamps that, like, kind of open up in the middle and say, yeah, Goes back up.

Nick:

Yeah. And. And, like, silhouette almost. Okay, okay. But there's so much light. Okay. There's just a lot. Got it. And it's a little bit overbearing.

Corey:

Everyone gets annoyed when you come by because.

Nick:

Yeah, it's kind of like, oh, well, he's here. Oh, but, man. Okay, can you turn it down?

Nathan:

Can I be a semi God?

Corey:

You can totally be a semi God.

Nick:

Wait, wait, wait. Is that it? Like a. An upgrade to demigod?

Nathan:

It's like a big, like, think, like, semi truck God.

Nick:

Ah, like Optimus.

Corey:

Oh, I see.

Nathan:

Exactly like Optimus.

Corey:

You can be whatever kind of God you could be because you are creating this world. All right, Lauren, what kind of demigod are you?

Lauren:

I'm looking on Google what types of gods there are.

Corey:

It's like demigods, not gods.

Nick:

It's like that feeling you get when you turn the light on in the morning, and he's like. And so. Or someone else did. And you're like, why'd you do that?

Lauren:

Well, see, I'm the type of God where there's not. It's like the light's not on. Like, no one's home up here.

Nick:

Did she really do that?

Corey:

Is that what you're sticking with?

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

Okay, so the light. The light that was upstairs is now merged with his light, leaving your attic a little empty.

Lauren:

I. I don't know if I can share this, but I have a negative one in wisdom. So maybe the lights on but no.

Corey:

One'S home has nothing to do with your real character. Okay, I'm starting the timer in three, two, one. Oh, boy. Timer has started. We have one Hour. All right, Nick, you are up first.

Nick:

Roll.

Corey:

The birth of the world. Die.

Nathan:

Hurry, hurry, hurry.

Corey:

Which is the D6.

Nick:

6.

Corey:

The rules.

Lauren:

The best.

Corey:

All right. What divine law would you like to put into the world?

Nick:

It is any poured or running water goes straight up until contacting surface or anything physical.

Corey:

So it's anti gravity basically until it hits something.

Nick:

Yep. Anything. Like you know, if you're at like the bar or the tavern, you know, and they're like pouring the water.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

They always like, they like pour down and then they hold a cup above and then it like when it hits the cup, then it like settles.

Nathan:

That sounds okay, but so annoying.

Nick:

But the water, like waterfalls, they just go up until they hit something physical.

Nathan:

Those are water.

Corey:

So your rule is like a rule of how things happen, not like a hard rule like you can't speed, you know, this is the rule of like rule of this physics. Physics kick. I was thinking, remember, just so you all know, this is going to affect the world you your characters are playing in.

So keep that in mind as well. So there's crazy as you make it means it's going to be crazy for your characters once we get into the.

Nathan:

World and it's just all like.

Nick:

Well, it's just water.

Nathan:

Just water.

Nick:

If you put water in soup. No, no, if you, if, if you put water in soup, then the soup actually stays. Well, well, well.

The soup is like the physical thing that's not, you know, like all this stuff that the water touches. But at first putting it in there, it's going to be tough to make.

Corey:

Until it's all at least touched in.

Nick:

But water, water that melts from like snow and stuff that kind of goes down. Then the rivers just kind of go up.

Lauren:

Okay, I'm gonna require soup.

Corey:

What if I like it?

Nathan:

Drop some soup in a waterfall.

Nick:

So what you'll find in most like cities is they'll have.

They'll where the water fall is coming up like right after the mountain when it's starting to melt and then it hits and then once it hits, it just goes down. Okay, so most interesting. Most of the towns are like have figured this out and so the water.

Corey:

You know, you're gonna make this really fun for me as I create the world of this, the quest in this world.

Nick:

Chaos.

Corey:

Okay, Lauren, why don't you roll that D6. Let's see what the birth of the world is for you.

Lauren:

Oh, I'm so nervous. Okay, one, one. So the land.

Corey:

Describe a continent, island, floating mass, something to do with the land.

Lauren:

Okay.

Nathan:

I was kind of hoping we just all roll rules.

Lauren:

Oh my God.

Corey:

That would be pretty funny.

Lauren:

Okay, so the land. So I just describe like maybe a piece of it or. Okay, so it could be like part.

Corey:

Of the land or it could be like all dirt covering. The whole world has this property. Just something about the land. It could be something small or large.

Lauren:

Oh, because the water's all funky. Hopefully we can have like good, I don't know, maybe irrigation. Is that right? So we're gonna have lush green grass.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

Across the lands.

Corey:

So would it be maybe like vegetation grows easier because of the rich soil?

Lauren:

Yes.

Corey:

Okay, so rich soil.

Nick:

So.

Corey:

Sorry, I just wanna. I'm. I'm saying that I just want to clarify. So that way when I write things down and I just wanted a little.

Lauren:

More clarification, I just want the word lush in there. Yes. Okay.

Corey:

Rich soil, lush vegetation.

Lauren:

Yeah, that's what Nathan wrote. So.

Corey:

So that means the world may all be jungle. We'll find out when I start making things.

Lauren:

You're in the jungle, baby.

Corey:

All right, Nathan, roll that D6.

Nick:

I mean it might be super moist everywhere.

Lauren:

Oh my gosh.

Corey:

That is a 20. You need to roll your six sided die.

Nathan:

Well, I still rolled a six. Here we go. Hey, I rolled a six.

Corey:

Hey, you rolled a six. All right, give us a rule.

Nathan:

All right, so my divine law is that mowing is illegal.

Lauren:

Beautiful.

Corey:

Mowing is illegal.

Nick:

So we get lots of water up in the air in the atmosphere, and nobody can mow?

Nathan:

No. No mowing.

Corey:

Does that include like hedge clipper? So mowing is anything that is like trimming of grass?

Nathan:

Yes.

Corey:

Okay. No mowing or trimming really?

Lauren:

In the jungle.

Nick:

I'm just a little curious, like who's the authority that oversees whether the person mow? Is this like.

Corey:

Oh yeah, there's like underground mowing by.

Nick:

God, like the gods, the demi, the, oh, I don't know, demigods. Or is it just like guardians of mowing?

Nathan:

But there's definitely some like prohibition era mowing dens.

Corey:

Okay.

Nathan:

Of you know, a bunch of like middle aged dads all together, like talking about fresh cut grass smell.

Corey:

I'm gonna put that underground. Dang mowing.

Lauren:

And they all wear new balances.

Nathan:

My dad wears new.

Corey:

The mowing dad.

Nathan:

Really funny. Is that like a dad?

Corey:

Yeah, totally bad thing.

Nathan:

I've never heard of that. No, I didn't know that. My dad like has like all new balance.

Lauren:

That's what dads wear.

Nathan:

That's so funny.

Nick:

Why is that's what my dad wears.

Nathan:

I want to really go off on that much of a tangent, Right?

Corey:

Why is that is funny.

Lauren:

Today?

Corey:

Okay. All right. So so far, poured or running water goes straight up until it contacts something rich. Soil, lush vegetation. Mowing is illegal.

There are guardians of mowing as well as underground mowing groups, which I am totally going to be using.

Nathan:

Is. That is amazing.

Corey:

All right.

Nathan:

Listen to that band.

Corey:

You're okay. We are now going to move to round two. The great oops.

So, starting with Nick on your six that you rolled the the law, how is this going to mess up your poured or running water that goes straight up until it contacts something hard. So roll that D20 on the rules because remember, you're now going to add chaos to the thing you just made.

Nathan:

Oh, what reverses the flow of all water.

Nick:

That could happen. Oh, my gosh. Okay, here we are.

Corey:

The rules.

Nick:

D20, chaos table. I rolled an eight.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

I really like this eight is seasons are based on the mood of a celestial cat.

Corey:

How are you gonna tie that in? Do you can tie that in with the water or is that gonna be its own thing?

Nick:

Well, cats hate water, right?

Nathan:

And the water's true up at this cat all the time.

Nick:

And so this cat is either not gonna. I think, you know, when most folks don't help collect the water before it goes too high, the cat gets really upset.

Nathan:

This is the most stressful world.

Nick:

And, you know, maybe it all works out because then the cat's like, I'm touching all the water to send it all back down on you in storms of rain and hurricanes.

Corey:

I like that. The cat God gets. So that's how you please. The cat God is stopping the water from getting up there.

Nick:

Yeah. And like, if you're not, like, you're kind of shamed. It's kind of, you know, and they're kind of like, you're not.

Nathan:

Stop.

Nick:

You're not. You don't have a situation here because the celestial cat's going to come down on you hard. Sorry about you.

Corey:

Okay.

Nathan:

Born yesterday. Dude, you didn't catch the water.

Nick:

Yeah, you. You guys don't catch water here, right? It's like that.

Corey:

What is the angry cat God's name?

Lauren:

That's what I was going to ask. We have to have a name for angry cat.

Nick:

Oh, my gosh. I don't like cats. They always have crazy names.

Nathan:

Rum tum tugger, scratchy. Mr. Mistoffeles.

Nick:

I don't know why it wouldn't be Rum Dum Tugger.

Corey:

Rum Tug Tugger.

Nick:

Oh, no.

Nathan:

He's ready.

Lauren:

He sounds really interesting.

Nick:

T U G g E R. All right.

Corey:

It is now canon. That Rum Tum Tugger is that old.

Nathan:

Sometimes it's best to just not celestial.

Nick:

You haven't pleased the Rum Tum Tugger. Are you crazy big on. I like it.

Corey:

I like it. Okay, stop the upward water, man. It's gonna be fun for me to write that character in. Okay.

Nick:

I'm interested to see what happens.

Nathan:

The joy is, like, completely left Corey's face, like, already.

Corey:

All right, Lauren, roll the chaos. Die for the land.

Lauren:

Okay. Okay. So for the land, I rolled in eight. Oh, this is. This is gonna be so magical. Volcanoes. So we don't have volcanoes yet.

Okay, Volcanoes now sneeze confetti in ash. So it's a party every time the volcano erupts.

Corey:

So you did say rich soil, lush vegetation. Maybe this is one of the reasons. Also, when that water is mixing with this confetti and ash, it creates a really lush vegetation.

Lauren:

I hope that the. I hope that Rum Tum Tugger is pleased when the confetti falls.

Corey:

What color is a confetti? Is it the multicolored?

Lauren:

It's multicolored. Duh.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

Love it. Did you say multicolored, or did you say multicolored? Duh.

Lauren:

Duh.

Corey:

I see what's doing there.

Nick:

Like, it should be obvious that confetti.

Corey:

Okay, sweet.

Nick:

Now we got obvious.

Corey:

Now we have volcanoes sneezing confetti and ash. If they sneeze it, does that mean they're also sentient?

Nick:

Oh, so it's not like a constant flow.

Lauren:

Yeah, they're only when they, like, erupt, which, I don't know, isn't often, but, you know, it sounds like the volcano does have allergies because of the lush vegetation.

Nick:

So it's not like. So it's like you're walking by and it's like.

Corey:

And you're like, what was that?

Lauren:

But we're used to it, though, okay?

Nathan:

Because it's not like, never get used to it.

Nick:

It's more of the sneeze. Right?

Lauren:

Yeah, it's a sneeze with just some magma.

Corey:

Okay, perfect. Okay, Nathan, you rolled a six last time for rules.

Nathan:

Now I rolled 20.

Corey:

Do some rules. Chaos.

Nathan:

I got a 15.

Lauren:

Celestial canon. Just kidding.

Nathan:

Get my paper here. The rules. 15. The rule of gravity is now a subscription service.

Corey:

Oh, no.

Nathan:

This is just real life now. We're not doing fantasy.

Lauren:

Oh, my gosh.

Nathan:

We have to subscribe to Gravity Plus.

Nick:

That's cool. So I want to know what the difference is.

Lauren:

Subsidiary of Netflix.

Nick:

You get the regular Gravity.

Nathan:

So whenever. Whenever Mowing was Made illegal. A lot of people were out of work, and some of the ancient mowers got together and somehow monetized gravity.

Perhaps we can explore that more later.

Corey:

Okay.

Nathan:

I don't know how they did it.

Corey:

But they did it monetize gravity.

Lauren:

They did.

Corey:

Oh, I'm gonna have fun with that, too.

Nathan:

Yeah, just make Corey do it. If you can't think of it, just make Corey do it.

Nick:

Are people who didn't pay just, like, swimming in the clouds with no water? Like, they're swimming in the sky and they're just like, that's me. Well, you guys didn't pay. Yeah.

Corey:

So do you float?

Nathan:

We're like, if you don't pay for it, you still. You still get it, right?

Corey:

Okay, there's a free tier, but, like, there's commercials. You can't jump.

Nathan:

The gravity equivalent of the IRS will, like, be on your ass.

Nick:

Oh, yeah, there's. So There's a lot. Okay. Yeah.

Nathan:

So, like, you. You can't not use. It's kind of like how we have to have insurance.

Lauren:

That's what I was going to say. It sounds like car insurance.

Nathan:

Yeah, it's like that.

Lauren:

But if you get caught and. Oh, doggy, yeah. Rum tum Tugger.

Nick:

Wow.

Corey:

Okay, now that means we're gonna move to round number three, the aftermath of creation. So in round three, you're going to now create two paths for either of your creations that had just happened, either the creation or the chaos.

And then the other two are going to vote what they think is better. So, Nick, you poured running water that goes straight up until it contacts something hard.

And also, these seasons are based on the mood of a celestial cat. Collect the water before reaching too high. The cat gods get angry. So give us two scenarios here.

Give us two paths for your creation, like, two things more in detail. They could be polar opposites, and they're gonna vote what they think is better. But obviously, don't take too long.

Nick:

Okay, So I need to come up with two different paths of this.

Nathan:

You're taking too long.

Corey:

That. Wait, I just.

Nick:

I. What?

Corey:

So it could be something like. So the rain smells like bacon or the rain that goes up smells like bacon. Or the celestial cat Gotta throw a ball of yarn down.

Nick:

Yeah. Okay.

Corey:

It could just something like that.

Nick:

Okay, so. So Rum tum Tugger. So here's the one. Okay. Rum Tum Tugger. When. When the folks in town worship the Rum Tum Tugger. Dum dum dum tugger. Rum tum Tugger.

Right when they do the thing. Yeah, right. Maybe they beatbox. I don't know if they have a temple set up to Rum Tum Tugger.

Nathan:

And they're Rum Tum tugging.

Nick:

Yes. Then Rum Tum Tugger is going to help the wall. Help them keep the water in place. Okay. Because you can't have. You can't live with that water.

Corey:

Right.

Nick:

And so, like, those who have and those who don't, water's just going up everywhere, you know? And they're not appeasing the cat, and the cat's not happy with them. The Rum Tum Tugger cat. Okay, that's the one. That's the one avenue.

Corey:

Okay, give us another avenue.

Nick:

The other avenue is that.

Lauren:

You're stalling.

Nick:

No, I know exactly what I'm gonna say. Thank you.

Lauren:

Oh, okay.

Nick:

Sorry, Lauren. The other avenue is that this Rum Tum Tugger cat. I could use a hand. Anybody? What's the other avenue?

Nathan:

So the first one was. It was like kind of like a church.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And you were worshipping him.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

To help them with the water.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And then you were thinking the other way would be kind of like, maybe because the cat hates water, maybe he's, like, constantly trying to throw the water back down. And so they're, like, worshiping something else to make water go up more. They're like, against status quo of water being contained.

Nick:

Is it a dog?

Corey:

Oh, there you go. Perhaps it's a God deity that's actually pushing the water up. That's why the gravity's like that.

Nathan:

It's the reason why they call it Dogma.

Lauren:

Yes.

Corey:

Because they practice.

Nathan:

Because it's.

Nick:

They practice Dogma. Yeah. And the dogma helps the water go up.

Lauren:

Is that the dog's name?

Nathan:

Also, Corey, you need to introduce the live band we have here. You've got the roots.

Lauren:

Thanks, Quest Love.

Nathan:

Thank you, Quest.

Corey:

Oh, sorry. Okay, no soundboard.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

So you two, Lauren and Nathan, you need to vote what you think of. Those two are better. Opposing dog God.

Nick:

Do you have an opposing dog at the cat?

Nathan:

God adds another level to things that I think is interesting.

Lauren:

I do. I do think so.

Nathan:

The church that Nick came up, I think we still need, like, a church involved. I like that.

Nick:

We can.

Lauren:

We can have a Rum Tum Tugger temple at some point.

Nick:

Yeah. And maybe. Maybe there's a temple for either.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Nick:

Depending on where the.

Corey:

If you pick the dog, there could already be two temples, one for each.

Nick:

Yeah. And they could be like, you worship and then people who are, like, worshiping both at the same time. The water's pretty like it's like floaty.

Corey:

Yeah. Whoever gets the most worship is how high or low the water.

Lauren:

Oh my gosh. I'm going to go with the dog.

Corey:

Right, Nathan, what's your vote?

Nathan:

Oh, yeah, Dog.

Corey:

Dog. Okay, so dog wins. Dog God. So this is the great Canine wars.

Nick:

The dog God.

Lauren:

Dog.

Nick:

What's the. What's dog God? Is there a name for the dog God?

Corey:

You get to come up with it.

Nick:

Oh, the name for the dog God is Rufio.

Lauren:

Oh, thank you.

Corey:

Rufio.

Nathan:

I like that.

Lauren:

That is a homage to our dog. Ruo is going to live forever.

Nick:

Okay.

Lauren:

Apparently, cuz he's a. He's this dog God in the game.

Nick:

So he will go on.

Corey:

All right, Lauren, you need to create two paths. I need to put them to bottom.

Lauren:

I need to move this.

Corey:

You can't move the lamp. It stays there.

Nick:

It's part of the game.

Corey:

So Lauren, you have rich soil, lush vegetation, volcanoes now sneeze confetti and ash. Multicolored confetti.

Lauren:

I'm just having a good old time over here.

Corey:

Yeah. So give us two paths for your creation.

Lauren:

About those two things or.

Corey:

Yeah. Or one of them. Give two paths for one or one for each. Just two paths that involve your creation that'll take it further.

Lauren:

Okay, so with, let's see, with the confetti. Let's do something fun. Nobody knows what the volcano is allergic to and so nobody knows how to stop it.

Nick:

So it like keeps going on and they're like. And are they all. Are. Is it the single volcano or are all volcanoes allergic to something different?

Lauren:

How many volcanoes are there? I. I don't even know.

Nick:

It's probably more than.

Corey:

More than one or two.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

Like they're probably more than two, less than 500.

Nick:

So each of them. Are they all allergic to the same thing or it's kind of one of those things.

Corey:

Right.

Nick:

These folks have figured out what the volcano is allergic to, but these folks are still trying to figure it out because they got.

Lauren:

I think it's probably all over everything. Yes.

I think it's all kind of different and we're just all trying to figure out what it is because while it's nice to feel like you're having a party all the time, it does kind of get annoying because of how loud it is and people are trying to.

Nick:

Sleep and it's like, how long have you people been here and you don't know what your volcano's allergic to near your town? You guys figure this out.

Lauren:

This is common knowledge. It should be. And then the. Let's see. Oh, there's, like, a part of the land. Well, there's pockets of the land. And you don't know.

It's kind of also confusing. I like. I'm going to throw some confusion in here. You don't know. There's.

So with different pockets of the land, like, some, like, vegetables are going to taste, like, really, really good, and then some will really give you the toots for the rest of the day, and you don't know which one is which.

Nick:

So they also taste good.

Lauren:

They are good.

Nick:

So both taste good.

Lauren:

They both. But one will give you a serious.

Corey:

Case of the poo.

Lauren:

The toot. Not poops.

Nick:

Oh, the toots just really pungent. Like, it's not, like, rancid. It's more like, oh, you ate something healthy, but it's still hard to breathe after you pooted.

Lauren:

And. And maybe that's what I don't. This could be what the volcano is allergic to is the smell of the. Of the farts. But you don't know, so.

Corey:

Okay. All right. So now you all get to pick between poo or sorry, toots.

Lauren:

And I want both of them.

Nick:

Nobody knows what veggies make you Tootie.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

Or nobody knows what the volcano is allergic to.

Lauren:

You're welcome.

Nathan:

I vote for volcanoes. Having allergies?

Nick:

Yeah, same. I'm on that one.

Nathan:

All right, that's kind of funny.

Lauren:

Okay.

Corey:

They don't want tomatoes.

Lauren:

They don't want a stinky eyelash.

Nathan:

I'm here to escape.

Lauren:

Escape the Tootie Island.

Corey:

Right, Nathan, give us two. Okay, you had. Mowing is illegal, and the rule of gravity is now subscription service.

Nathan:

Gotcha. So I need two paths. Gotcha. So I think one path would be kind of like, just expanding on the Prohibition era.

Like, setup with the mowers where they're gonna, you know, protest, maybe riot, maybe shit gets kind of real about mowing.

Lauren:

Oh, Lord.

Nick:

And.

Nathan:

That'S. Oh, my God, that sucks. Like, given the current, like, climate of things, that's. Don't vote for that one.

Lauren:

I'm trying to escape.

Nathan:

Yeah, I'm gonna talk. Okay. And then the other one.

Nick:

You're gonna make me mow. That kind of thing. Because I don't want to mow. Yeah, I'm against the. I'm a Monet. Say Monet.

Lauren:

Monet.

Nathan:

The slogan is, no mo wars.

Nick:

No more wars. Thank God you can't make me mo.

Nathan:

But. And then I guess the other one going off of Gravity is a subscription service. Maybe people are trying to make more things that are just like.

Like the Air you breathe and stuff. People are trying to make other things. Subscription services.

Corey:

Yeah. This world is also just very real. You just love staying in your culture.

Nathan:

This is what the diced out. And that's where we are.

Lauren:

You don't want a 2D island, but you want these things.

Nathan:

I want to. They build a world with my friends.

Corey:

All right, you two have to vote now.

Nick:

Okay. So we're talking about.

Corey:

Don't vote for the mowing uprising.

Nick:

Or. I think people really pissed about the mowing system situation because the water keeps going up.

Nathan:

They are.

Nick:

And it's like, now I got to build this whole thing. Or. You worship the dog God and that's why they. They keep the water down.

Lauren:

This is.

Nick:

Okay, what was the other one? So there's. There's the no Mo go and subscription services.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

Subs.

Nathan:

Like, more people, companies, entities that we can flesh out later are trying to monetize everything.

Lauren:

I'm going to say the. The mo. No mo.

Nick:

No mogo.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Lauren:

Yeah. I'll say that.

Nathan:

No mosh. We're going to no mo wars.

Nick:

No mo wars. Yeah. And those are the people who are like, we're worshiping Rufio. Yeah.

Corey:

So there's going to be so many factions in this world already.

Nathan:

Geez, you need a fresh cut lawn to really play a good game of fetch with your dog. Yes, it pleases Rufio.

Nick:

Go Division here.

Nathan:

Yeah. But cats like to be hidden in tall grass. It's nice to.

Corey:

That's true.

Nathan:

So, gosh, you're talking.

Corey:

You are building a really complex world right now.

Nathan:

Not confusing at all.

Corey:

All right, y' all ready to start another three rounds? Start back up at round one.

Nick:

Yeah. Oh, yeah.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

We keep going.

Nathan:

All right, you all, let's do a speedrun around.

Corey:

You all have 34 minutes left.

Nick:

Now that I get it, let's do it. Yeah.

Corey:

You'll have 34 minutes left on your timer.

Nick:

Understand what's happening now? All right.

Corey:

D. Six. Six.

Nick:

Nick.

Corey:

Birth of the world.

Nick:

All right, back to. We're on five. The magic. How did the magic appear? Was it intentional or a divine Oopsie.

Corey:

How did the magic get here?

Nick:

We're gonna say magic is definitely multiverse situation where, like, it came in kind of at, like, people aren't really sure exactly. And it's like. It's the tap into this multiverse and then you can do the magic.

Nathan:

Like there was like a connection at one point with the other world and the magic seeped over into ours.

Nick:

Yes. And this. This connection happens with something to do with Rum Tum Tugger? Well, no, but.

But it is thought that Rum Tum Tugger and Rufio are connected and they're seeking to, you know, find this way, but it really has something to do with pet toys.

Corey:

Pet toys.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

Pet toys? Yeah, Pete, like toys for your pet, not a toy that is your pet.

Nick:

Correct. What? This is part of the.

Nathan:

Oh, yeah. Maybe it's.

Nick:

It's pet toys.

Nathan:

Which ways?

Corey:

Yeah, it could be either way. Okay. I'm anxious to see what chaos brings with that.

Nick:

But it's otherworldly and it's. It's multi versal.

Corey:

And so does that mean it's all types of different kinds of magic then? Like, different schools of magic?

Nick:

Yeah, most. Most. All of the magic that entered into this world has something to do in the multiversal situation.

Corey:

So it's all kinds.

Nick:

And, like, people are seeking this stuff through pet toys.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

I just want to remind you all that we're going to have to play in this world.

Nathan:

Yeah. And Cory has to. Cory has to write. Write a story that makes some sense.

Corey:

Some sense with all of this.

Nathan:

Or else it will be unlistenable.

Corey:

All right, Lauren, you roll for the birth of the world on this round one.

Lauren:

Okay. A two. So I did the land, and now I'm doing the sky.

Corey:

Perfect.

Lauren:

So what hangs above the world? Moon? Clouds? Birds? Something stranger. Oh, gosh, there's the lamp. I'm so sorry.

Nick:

Time for something.

Lauren:

It is. Okay. Oh, what can we do here?

Corey:

Sky's the limit, Literally.

Lauren:

I'm really trying to make the island like a beautiful place by having, like, you know, green grass and, you know, stuff there. So I'm just going to try to continue on my quest of making a beautiful, like, space for us all, no matter what you guys are up to.

So I think what I'm gonna do is. Oh, just it's gonna be blue sky for most of the time and, I don't know, real big puffy clouds and. And, I don't know, really, really cute birds.

Like, really small cute birds.

Nick:

Like colorful. Cute.

Lauren:

Yeah, like, like, like colorful, like neon and big eyes.

Corey:

Okay, so just almost cartoonish.

Lauren:

Yeah. Big eyes and a small beach at all times.

Corey:

It's just like, at all times. Like, every day is a perfect cartoonish blue sky with. With colorful birds. Like, every day.

Lauren:

Yeah. And my character is just going to be living in a fantasy world.

Corey:

We have a lot of seasonal depression orders going on.

Lauren:

Hopefully not so. But. But maybe we'll see how I roll the dice later.

Nathan:

So, like, baseline blue Blue skies, puffy clouds.

Lauren:

Yes.

Nathan:

But the instant Rum Tum Tugger is slightly annoyed.

Lauren:

Oh, would he be?

Nathan:

Oh, I mean, yeah. Didn't we establish, like, he's annoyed with everything? The weather is affected by Rum Tug Tugger's mood.

Lauren:

Oh, is that what it said?

Corey:

Oh, seasons are based on the moon.

Lauren:

Okay. So. So normally it's this. Except when he's pissed off, which whatever.

Corey:

Mood he's in might change it.

Lauren:

Right. So.

Corey:

So, you know, it's a good day when that sky is blue.

Nathan:

I like the idea that, like, the world is, like, usually quite nice, but the second the cat God is upset, it's like, everything sucks. Yeah.

Corey:

And the minute the dog God is happy gets even more cartoonish.

Lauren:

Oh, yes. So. But yeah, really adorable cartoonish. Big eyes, small beak birds. All right, Nathan, singing a tune.

Corey:

Let's see what you got on the birth of the world.

Nathan:

Got a two. I got the sky again.

Corey:

Remember, you can reroll a token.

Nathan:

I got a one. I got the land.

Corey:

The land.

Nathan:

Okay.

Lauren:

What you gonna do with the land?

Nathan:

So let's see. This world has a, like, massive hole that just goes straight through it.

Lauren:

Why would you do that?

Nathan:

It's kind of like a donut world.

Corey:

Oh, like. Oh, my gosh.

Nick:

Like a astronomical, like, size, like. Yeah, something's not. So it's almost haloey, but not haloey.

Nathan:

Yeah. I was gonna say it's not like a thin ring, like halo. It's more like. Like a donut.

Corey:

Like, it thick.

Lauren:

We need to have, like, a fence around.

Corey:

Oh, my gosh. It's a world so you can't go across. You have to go.

Nick:

Any situation there. Oh, yeah.

Nathan:

It's sort of like Disc World, but way more inconvenient.

Corey:

All right. The world is shaped like a donut.

Nick:

I love it. Something to do with why water goes up.

Nathan:

Oh, it's all coming together.

Lauren:

All coming together.

Corey:

It's not really going up. Remember, it looks like it's going up to the naked eye, but it's actually wrapping around the world because it's roundish.

Nick:

Lap around the whole there.

Lauren:

I just want everyone to know that there was no marijuana in the.

Nick:

There was.

Lauren:

Because we're like, whoa.

Corey:

Okay. I'm excited to see how chaos will mess all this up. So it's pretty chaotic now. We're going to round two. Nick, go ahead and roll your D20.

Nick:

Or magic niner on that. Magic tells me. Oh, magic was five, wasn't it? Okay, here we go. Ready? Wizards unionized and Demand weekends.

Nathan:

I love that.

Nick:

Okay, so I'm Imagining, like, this world where, like, the wizards are the folks who are tapped into magic. Okay.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And they have the most pet toys.

Nick:

I don't really like pet toys, but we're. We're like, way down the rabbit hole. Okay, but so. But when you.

When the wizards, they're, like, all into the pet situation and that, you know, some folks are probably, like, building, like, you know, statues of pet toys. And you can always identify where the wizards are at by the pet toy situation and. Yeah. Okay, so they've unionized and demand weekends.

Nathan:

Like giant, like, statues of, like, milk bones.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And. Yeah, like yarn balls.

Nick:

Yeah, yarn balls. And like, the cat. You know, the cat towers and then the crinkly catnip mice. Yes. Yeah. And mice have to come into play somewhere. Right.

And the birds, you know, people love. You know, the birds are really cute. Cats love.

Nathan:

What's a bird toy? What's a pet toy for a bird?

Nick:

Oh, you know, I did say pet toy.

Nathan:

What do birds.

Nick:

They like? Perches.

Lauren:

They do love a good perch.

Nick:

Yeah. And they got some balls. Some hanging balls.

Lauren:

Oh, my.

Corey:

Families of birds.

Nick:

You know what I'm talking about?

Lauren:

You know?

Corey:

So are there different types of unions for the wizards? Like, different types of wizards? Like, are there different unions in there? Yeah, they don't like the other unions.

Nick:

Okay, so most of the wizards are, like, leaning one way to Rum Tum Tugger or to Rufia Ugo.

Lauren:

And then I think you change the name every time.

Nick:

No, it's Rufio Ugo.

Nathan:

He's been very consistent.

Lauren:

I think you're, like, accentuating some of each.

Nick:

I'm not sensing accentuating, though.

Lauren:

Okay, continue. Sorry.

Nick:

I guess it. Accentuating.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

They did lead toward the Rum Tum Tiger or the cat God or Rufia Hugo the dog God. But you will find those ones that are kind of on the outskirts, and they'll lead toward, like, bird pet kind of situation or like, gerbil pet.

Corey:

But it's all mainly animal based.

Nick:

It's mainly animal pet because they don't know why. They can connect exactly with the magic multiverse. Magic.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

Through the pet toy.

Corey:

I'm gonna love this.

Nick:

Some of them, like, pick a lane. Like, I'm a bird pet toy person. Good luck with this.

Corey:

I can't wait to create the Hamster wizard sect.

Nick:

And lizard. The people love lizards. Okay.

Corey:

The Lizard Wizard. The lizard wizards.

Lauren:

Yes.

Nick:

I love it.

Corey:

Okay, Lauren, roll for your great oops on the sky.

Lauren:

D20.

Nick:

Yep.

Corey:

A teen, you say 19.

Lauren:

A 10.

Corey:

Oh, a 10.

Lauren:

The auroras whisper government secrets wow.

Nick:

You're what hurts now. The auroras do what?

Lauren:

Whisper government.

Nick:

Government secrets.

Corey:

So that's how the secrets get around the world is through the auroras. Hey, in the sky.

Lauren:

Guess.

Corey:

I guess that's the secret messaging service.

Lauren:

Yeah, I guess so. So I don't even. What else do I need to say? I feel like it just says it all there.

Corey:

I mean, you can maybe say who.

Nick:

Set it up or.

Corey:

Unless you want to save that for your aftermath. Or you can just leave it at that if you want.

Lauren:

I think. I don't really know if I have anything else to include with that. So the Aurora's whisper government secrets. Because, you know, we need to.

Somebody's gotta be the whistleblower.

Nick:

Someone's gotta whisper secrets.

Corey:

So it could be like, good that they're whispering the government secrets. Like.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

To try to like, figure some things out.

Nick:

Okay. Are you saying Auroras? Like the aurora. So some can decipher and they're like. Did you see that with those lights?

So they said that the government is making this?

Lauren:

No, because it's all conspiracy theories, man. Oh, my gosh. So we have the Auroras with Rufio.

Corey:

All right, Nathan, roll it for land Mr. Donut World.

Lauren:

I got a one, Mr. Donut.

Corey:

Draw the D20 or the D120.

Nathan:

Oh, D20. Sorry.

Nick:

What's the difference?

Nathan:

I got a six.

Corey:

Six.

Nathan:

On it was. I got the land, right? Yes, six is. Oh, my God.

Nick:

What in the. What it.

Nathan:

The number six says a hole in the center of your land leads directly to your ex's realm.

Nick:

Go into the giant hole.

Nathan:

That's crazy, man.

Corey:

The hole in the center of the world leads.

Lauren:

Did you. Did you subconsciously read that and then like.

Nathan:

Oh, my gosh, I had no idea.

Corey:

Okay, so that's what the pit leads to. If anyone falls down.

Lauren:

Congratulations.

Nathan:

My real world. Nathan speaking now.

Corey:

X. Oh, gosh.

Nathan:

Is that. What am I understanding?

Corey:

It could be anybody's ex. Oh, I get to choose.

Nathan:

Okay, then it can be real world. X.

Lauren:

It can be my ex if you want to.

Corey:

It could be. It could be the ex of the person that falls in. So, like, if it's hell, I have.

Nick:

An ex we can use.

Lauren:

Tell me.

Corey:

Like, I. Yeah, it could just be like the. Whoever falls in and goes to their ex. Not a specific ex, but. But the people that fall in. It relates to the person that falls in the hole.

It goes to one of their exes. Maybe.

Nathan:

I think that this is what I'll pitch one of our characters. We can figure this out as we play has an ex, and they are in that hole.

Nick:

She's, like, roaring.

Nathan:

And have some kind of. Perhaps, maybe dominion over whatever is in the hole. Maybe it's some kind of fantasy hell.

Corey:

So the X is just a person.

Nathan:

Like, ended up being.

Nick:

Somebody got mixed up in the multiverse. They went through some kind of pet toy situation. They got hooked up with the wrong person.

Nathan:

You can't just.

Lauren:

And they fell in the hole.

Nathan:

It was a multiverse situation to explain everything.

Nick:

It was the multiverse.

Nathan:

So, Yeah. I mean, I was late to work. It was like a multiverse thing, you know?

Corey:

It is.

Nick:

You know how it is. You're not gonna let me go, right?

Corey:

It was multiverse. Okay.

Nick:

I love it.

Nathan:

Like, I feel like what it should be like in a character's X, and we can figure out who's. What. What that's like.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And maybe it's not a hell thing, but. But, you know, we'll get there regardless.

Corey:

That is a person that's kind of running that area down. Okay.

Nick:

Maybe it's a lot better than Rum Tum Tugger.

Corey:

All right, let's head to the aftermath of creation. So, Nick, give us two scenarios on the ones you just. Just made.

It could be the two you just did, or if you want to add more to the ones you did in the previous round, you can do that as well. So you have four things that you can add. Two paths.

Nick:

Okay. Oh, man. These pet toys. Why did I say that? You.

Lauren:

You're really. And you're really.

Nick:

Do we.

Nathan:

Are we married to pet toys?

Nick:

I'm not. Sorry.

Corey:

It's canon.

Nathan:

It's canon already?

Lauren:

Yep.

Nick:

I said it out loud.

Nathan:

Can't recon that.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

On the one hand, I'll be honest. I kind of like it because.

Lauren:

Just kind of.

Nathan:

So we have gods that are animals.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And then the pet toys are the magical artifacts.

Nick:

Yeah. It kind of ties in. Yeah.

Corey:

Yeah. Oh, that's true. Maybe the animal toys have been lost, and people are searching for the ancient.

Lauren:

Artifacts to appease the go. The. The gods.

Nick:

Right. Yeah.

Nathan:

There's some kind of connection to magic through animal stuff. And I think kind of like a multiverse, things involved, like, on the one.

Nick:

Hand, like, this might could change things. Like, they think it's pet toys.

Nathan:

Oh. But it's not.

Nick:

But, like, when they find out what it really is, it's not like a dog bone.

Nathan:

It just looks like a dog bone.

Nick:

Pet toy.

Corey:

Yes.

Nathan:

But it's actually like a magic sword.

Nick:

Exactly. It's like, you know, the kind of swords they make to look like, the bones.

Lauren:

Yeah, the bones.

Nick:

You know? So, okay, so on the one hand, we're gonna go two directions. Okay. I think I. I think if I'm doing this right. Dungeon Master. Oh, Dungeon master.

Oh, yeah. So either it really is pet toys or it's really not pet toys.

Corey:

And. Yeah, you could do that.

Nick:

Massive discovery in the world where they're like, everybody thought it was pet toys.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Nick:

But it's like, what the hell are you guys talking about? This is not a thing.

Nathan:

Yeah. People just saw these magical artifacts and were like, this kind of looks like something my dog would fetch.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

And so the two. The two sides would be. If it is really pet toys, then, you know, like, we blow up pet toys. I mean, it's like everything. The people are all into the.

I mean, they've. You know, and the wizards are way, like, do you have the most pristine, ancient pet toys?

Nathan:

Yeah.

Nick:

And then if it's not. It's like, everyone's totally confused. This is. We're not. What are we talking about?

Lauren:

I'm gonna be confused.

Nick:

Like, this is not animals. It's not. You guys are making this stuff up. It's more the pragmatic. So we're doing pet toys or no pet toys.

Corey:

So that's the two paths.

Nick:

Yeah, that's the two paths.

Corey:

Pet toys or no pet toys.

Nick:

Yeah. Like, either we're leaning into the pet toys, or, like, there's going to be discovery along the way.

Maybe epic discovery that it's not really about pet toys.

Nathan:

So do people know that these objects are magical? Like, do. Do they have some kind of magical function?

Nick:

The pet toys, something.

Nathan:

But people are just like, this yarn.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Can glow and vibrate and float. My cat loves it.

Nick:

Yeah. Yeah.

Nathan:

But then later on, it's like, well, that's actually an oracle. That is an orb. Yeah, that's a. That's a orb from Lord of the Rings.

Nick:

Exactly. It's a palantir. You thought it was a ball of.

Nathan:

Yarn, but it's actually a palantir. If you just remove the layers, the.

Corey:

Protective packaging off of it.

Lauren:

How could we not go in that direction? I like that.

Corey:

That they're not actual toys.

Nick:

Discovery that it's actually not pet toys, but something deeper.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

But my character is not going to understand that. But Lauren agrees with that. But my character is going to be like, what? Because the light's not on.

Nick:

Yeah.

Corey:

That's ridiculous.

Nick:

It's definitely a pet toy.

Corey:

You idiots.

Lauren:

You guys are stupid. Don't mow your yard.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

Magical artifacts are not actual Pet toys, but people thought they were. Okay. Perfect. All right, Lauren, what is two paths you would like to present from your creations?

Nick:

I should.

Corey:

Or chaos.

Lauren:

Thinking about this while I was listening to Nick's nonsense.

Nathan:

Let me see what you get for being a good listener.

Nick:

Thanks for listening.

Corey:

You do have the auroras that whisper government secrets.

Nick:

Okay, I have that.

Corey:

You have large puffy clouds, cute birds, colorful year round.

Lauren:

And so I'm thinking you also have the volcanoes.

Corey:

If you want to add more to.

Lauren:

The volcanoes of two pass for anything. So mix and match. So the. Oh, maybe like a certain type of person. Oh, I'm trying to think like, who could hear the government secrets.

Is it like everybody? Or is it like maybe like. Well to do people. Or is it people like me that don't know what's going on and they just like hear this and they kind of.

Because nobody would probably take me seriously. So they would think I'm just like a crazy person. That with the conspiracy theory. Or should. So should it be like people.

Nick:

It's like only people with like attention. Attention deficit.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

So it's either like paying attention or there.

Lauren:

And nobody would probably super believe me. So that's. That's an option. So I'll say that. So that's the only people that can hear.

Nick:

The government secrets are likely the most unfortunate. Reliable to rely. Yeah. Okay.

Lauren:

Yeah, so. But so. So that's. That's one. And then the other is.

Nick:

It's like the top conspiracy theorists producers can actually hear what the government's asking.

Lauren:

Yes.

Nick:

And everyone's like, come on.

Lauren:

Come on.

Nick:

Yeah, I like it.

Corey:

Maybe they weren't lying at all.

Lauren:

Yes. And then. Okay, can I. Can I say that I. This is my second beer and I'm trying to think like, what. What was the other thing? I did this.

Corey:

Turn the sky with the clouds and the birds and the.

Lauren:

Okay, the birds and the clouds. Puffy clouds. I don't know. Okay. Sometimes when the season changes, let's do like where the birds.

Maybe it's like a gremlin situation where the birds are like super cute. And then when the weather changes, probably gonna. And. And then they are just like, oh my God.

Corey:

So basically, anytime the sky is not blue and the weather changes, it affects them into like a gremlin state, something like that.

Lauren:

To where they're like, not cute anymore.

Corey:

So the birds came.

Lauren:

Yeah. So I think that's awesome. I.

Nick:

There's something that happens and the. The cute, adorable, lovable, like.

Lauren:

Oh, dear Lord.

Nick:

Oh, my God. Get. Get in close.

Corey:

Get in the house.

Lauren:

Hide your wife.

Nick:

Hide your wife.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

The purple sun is out or whatever.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Corey:

You know, the blood moon is a rose.

Nick:

Yeah. The. The cat's claw.

Corey:

Oh, those are two good choices. So which do you all choose? Those are both pretty good.

Lauren:

You know, I'm just really good.

Nathan:

The problem is that they're both very good.

Lauren:

Yeah. Well, maybe I can use another one because. Do we have time to go another round? Because if we do.

Corey:

Not necessarily. We might be able to do. I mean, we guess we could. If we want to do a speed round, we could probably get through that. So.

Nathan:

I think it's supposed to be a speed round, actually. I think I like the. I just. I'm leaning towards the conspiracy theory. I feel like there's more opportunity for, like, interesting narrative with that.

I feel like that actually helps the story a little bit more.

Nick:

I like the gremlin.

Nathan:

The gremlin thing is cool because it's like world building and it's like, it fleshes it out a bit. Like, oh, there's this thing that happens with the birds, man. But the people actually giving context to the aurora. Telling secrets.

Nick:

Yeah. And I hear what you're saying. So it could give something to be like, hey, there's something here to pay attention to.

Nathan:

Yeah. Because we didn't really know what fear was. The aurora borealis. Whispering government secrets.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And then that's something to do with that is have, like, some people hear it. Not everyone can. Wait a second. And the people that hear it are trying to tell people, but everyone's like, yeah, sure, buddy.

Nick:

Yeah.

Lauren:

Okay.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

Oh, yeah. Because the other one was about the sky. So you went back to the sky on the one and aurora on the other.

Nathan:

Yeah. It's either people can hear the aurora or birds turn into the most unreliable.

Corey:

People can hear the aurora secrets. Yes. And then.

Nathan:

Yeah, well, it's. It's just because what they're saying is so fantastical.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nathan:

It's, like, hard to believe, right?

Corey:

Yeah, it's.

Nathan:

It's like, okay, I'll go with it. You've been on fantasy book a little bit too much, I think.

Nick:

Yeah.

Corey:

So we're going with unreliable people can hear the insane government secrets.

Nick:

I think I'll. I'm down with it. Yeah. I like the birds change. I think that's fine.

Nathan:

Yeah, both were.

Nick:

That's more of like, things are going to get crazy and you have to run from something. But this is more of like something bigger is going on and we're like, discovering what that is.

Lauren:

You know, if we have another round I'll use the bird option again. Again.

Corey:

All right, Nathan, give us your aftermath. You have the hole in the center of the world. World has the two things with the hole in the center of the world. The mo Wars.

Yeah, well, subscription service.

Nathan:

Okay, how about going. Okay, maybe the hole has something to do with the magic and the rift leading to the alternate world that. Where the magic came from.

Maybe the hole leads to a different world. Like, if you go through the donut, you come out on the other side. Side of the planet, and it's, like, different. Maybe.

Or perhaps the donut hole is like a. It's not like it leads to the other side of the donut, but it is like a realm in a different way. And the X resides there. Like.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Ruling over whatever the whole realm is.

Nick:

Okay. Whole realm.

Corey:

Maybe, like, she's at the checkpoint to get to the next realm, and she's.

Nathan:

I guess my toothpads are.

Nick:

Is this the.

Nathan:

We gotta go in that hole at some point.

Lauren:

Go in the hole.

Nick:

Like, it.

Nathan:

So far, either the way it works is you just go through the hole and you, like, walk around. Like, the gravity works and you're on the other side. Or it's like a portal to just, like, a completely different realm, but no.

Corey:

One'S quite figured it out.

Nathan:

But. Yeah. Well, I mean. Yeah, no one's done it.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nathan:

I don't think anybody's ever gone into.

Corey:

The hole yet intentionally, anyway.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Corey:

Yeah.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

What do y' all think?

Nick:

Okay, so the paths are. I'm sorry.

Corey:

The paths are you can go through the donut hole normally and just kind of come up on the other side.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

Or it actually leads to another realm where the X is hanging out down there.

Nick:

So we know that the. We know the hole leads to the X's realm.

Nathan:

Yeah. I'm gonna say either way, the X.

Corey:

You have to pass through the X.

Nathan:

Either way is ruling over this place.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

But the only difference. The only difference is how you get there. Like, you go through the hole, and it's like a portal.

You come out, and we're in, like, a completely different world. It's Donut list. We could. How can this be?

Nick:

Yeah. Okay.

Nathan:

This world is round.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

There's no hole in it.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Where'd the hole go? We just went through the hole.

Nick:

Right.

Nathan:

That's weird.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

Or you just, like. So imagine, like. Can you imagine an apple in your head?

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Make it a donut. Okay. Now you're on the donut. You're really small.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

You're walking into the hole.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

Now you're, like, on the sides of the hole.

Nick:

Yeah.

Nathan:

And then you're. Now you're on the other side of the donut. Isn't that magical?

Nick:

That sounds magical.

Lauren:

I do kind of like that. So. Because gravity, you know, so it's a subscription.

Corey:

Depending on the subscription service you have, you can make that journey.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

No one's ever been able to afford it. Yeah.

Nathan:

Well, I was thinking something like, no one's ever come back. Like, people have gone in the hole.

Nick:

Yeah. Because that way at least people would talk about it.

Nathan:

Yeah.

Nick:

Like what?

Nathan:

You know, and maybe the Aurora's whispering like, bro, all you got to do is walk in the hole spot.

Nick:

Go to the hole, bro. And everyone else.

Lauren:

Cool.

Nick:

The hole is freaked out about it.

Corey:

All right, what do y' all think?

Nick:

Yeah, I like that one.

Lauren:

Walk along. Walk to the other side of the hole.

Nathan:

Okay.

Nick:

And there. And Aurora's trying to get people together. That thing.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

Yeah. All right, I'm down.

Lauren:

Let's do that.

Corey:

All right.

Nick:

So Aurora. The Aurora is telling us what the government is trying to keep from us, which is just walk through the hole. And everyone's freaking.

Lauren:

Well, like, literally, the aurora could say, go to the hole. The hole, bro.

Nathan:

I could be a part of it.

Corey:

Yeah, it could be a part of it for sure.

Nick:

Specifically, like, gold. Go to the hole, bro.

Nathan:

It's like, the hole is, like, actually really chill and cool, but the government doesn't want you to know.

Nick:

Yeah.

Corey:

Why?

Nick:

Because all of the. Because all of the politicians in government are like, we need to keep the hole for ourselves. Oh, my God.

Corey:

I love it.

Nick:

Nobody's sharing a hole.

Corey:

Here we go. We have seven minutes left.

Nathan:

Speed round.

Corey:

How about instead of. How about this real quick? Instead of everyone doing. How about you just roll for the 1 through 6, you roll the D20, and then you give the two paths.

Lauren:

I love it.

Nick:

All right, Doing it. Three waters.

Lauren:

Okay, good. We haven't done that.

Nick:

What lurks or thrives in your oceans, lakes, or rivers?

Lauren:

We don't have any people.

Nick:

You roll. Oh.

Corey:

Oh, I get to populate the people. Okay.

Nick:

Or thrives in your oceans, lakes, and rivers? Tapeworms.

Lauren:

Why?

Nick:

It's. It's.

Lauren:

Why would you do that?

Nick:

Tape. Tapeworms.

Corey:

Tapeworms thrive in the ocean.

Nathan:

We don't get to vote on this one, right?

Corey:

He's setting this up. You're gonna set the chaos.

Lauren:

He's setting the chaos, like, already.

Corey:

You can start with chaos.

Lauren:

Can. Can I. Can I vote against it?

Corey:

Nope.

Nathan:

All right, so tapeworms. I'm gonna roll.

Corey:

Tapeworms thrive in the ocean and the waters. All right. Roll the chaos. That's a D6.

Nathan:

That every time.

Nick:

Time. Okay.

Nathan:

That's a four also. I'm okay.

Nick:

Waters four.

Nathan:

You made one whale too big.

Lauren:

Way to go.

Corey:

That's all it says is you made.

Nathan:

One whale too big.

Corey:

All right, describe why or what really big whale.

Nathan:

One of the whales got a lot of tapeworms and just now he on. Now he's, you know, bigger than the other whales. A little.

Corey:

Is he like a legendary. Well, now because of his size and how big he is and he's hunted or something.

Nathan:

He's legendarily sad. Oh, it's.

Nick:

It's because he can't.

Lauren:

He's a depressed whale because he can't.

Nathan:

Well, no, he's a whale, so he. He's, you know, just chilling. But like for us, we're like, man, that sucks. That whale is like filled to the brim with worms.

Nick:

And is he like fat or just large? Is he like overstuffed?

Nathan:

And he's like, okay, yeah, it's like an over so chubby type type.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

Thing.

Lauren:

He's. He's a husky. Husky whale.

Corey:

So does it. Does this legendary will actually have a name like has.

Lauren:

Yes, it always has to have a name. Like legend says the whale's name is Adobe Mix.

Nathan:

It's gonna be Jeremy.

Corey:

Jeremy, the over stuffed whale, generally. Jeremy, Jeremy, Jeremy.

Nick:

Everybody knows who Jeremy is.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

All right.

Lauren:

There's like kids books about him.

Corey:

I love it. So tapeworms thrive in the ocean. So that's going to be fun as well. Well, is too big. Lauren, give us two paths of any of this stuff.

Lauren:

Okay. I'll say the birds as one.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

Okay. The gremlin thing. And. And then sometimes can. Sometimes the whale will have indigestion and will barf.

Nick:

What are the repercussions of the whale?

Lauren:

So it doesn't.

Nick:

It. Does he float in the hole? No, he's on the water. He's not that big. Yeah.

Corey:

Does he wait till he's next to like land and then barfs?

Lauren:

Yeah, he barfs onto the land.

Nick:

Okay.

Lauren:

Okay.

Corey:

So barfing on land, giant whale named.

Nick:

Jeremy to do with the barf is it's just like.

Lauren:

Oh, it's. It smells like.

Nick:

Like it's ruined cities or like it's just like.

Lauren:

It's actually really pleasant. The smell is really pleasant.

Corey:

So is it like a good luck thing if Jeremy shows up? Whale barf.

Nathan:

I was gonna say, isn't ambergris very valuable? And also Whale barf.

Lauren:

Barf. Yeah.

Nathan:

Is that true?

Corey:

I've never heard something like that.

Lauren:

It's like if you just lit a candle, you're like, oh, Jeremy just barfed.

Corey:

Wait, it smells that good. I can't help but think of like.

Nick:

Somebody just took a poo.

Nathan:

Oh, this one's Jeremy. Did you get the Jeremy candles I sent?

Corey:

Okay, those are your options, Jeremy. The barfing, the smell good barfing, or the crazy.

Nick:

They actually did like the birds, but I mean, Jeremy barfing.

Nathan:

I. I hate that I'm gonna vote for Jeremy.

Nick:

It's Jeremy barfing.

Lauren:

I'm so. I'm brilliant.

Corey:

It is pleasant and good luck. If you get puked on or if you smell it.

Lauren:

It's like, if you get a whiff of it, it's like, gives you, like, bardic inspiration.

Nick:

Oh, wow.

Corey:

If you get puked on or smell it.

Lauren:

Yeah.

Nick:

Can you, man? So can you, like, can that stuff. Can you, like.

Corey:

Well, they made candles of it.

Lauren:

Yeah, they already make candles out of it. Yeah.

Nick:

It's like, yeah, we're in trouble. Somebody light up Jeremy barf candle.

Corey:

Okay, now is that Jeremy barf time has now ended.

Lauren:

Oh, my God.

Corey:

So we are now at the end of our game. It has hit the one hour mark.

Nick:

That's great. So I have to pee.

Corey:

What we're gonna do. So before you. Before we take a bathroom break, need a name for this world now. Oh, my gosh. So I need you all to decide. Or how about this?

We're gonna take a quick break, audience, and then they're gonna decide a name of this world, and then we're all gonna pee, and then we'll have a name when we come back. See you in just a moment. All right, everyone is back from the restroom because, you know, we all need breaks and everybody poops.

Nathan:

So you.

Corey:

Yeah, it's true. Hey, have you all decided on a name for this crazy, I don't know, world that you created? I would love a name.

Let our listeners know what you decided to call it and why.

Nathan:

Obama.

Nick:

Oh, no.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

No, I thought we talked about this.

Lauren:

We decided against that.

Corey:

I mean, it's not a bad name.

Lauren:

I thought it was bukaki.

Nathan:

That never even came up. I think that that actually. Never mind.

Nick:

And I don't hate it.

Nathan:

I hate it.

Nick:

It kind of.

Lauren:

Oh, I got our dm.

Corey:

I thought you had sneezed.

Nathan:

That's what the volcanoes say.

Corey:

It's a messy world. I think we're going to clean it up.

Nathan:

This sucks.

Nick:

I think we're Going to shoot for Cindo Cindeo.

Corey:

What does. What does cindeo mean?

Nathan:

It means connected, much like the donut.

Corey:

As in get philosophical here.

Nathan:

All parts of the donut are connected to the donut that it is.

Corey:

Even when it seems like something is missing.

Nick:

Even connected. That's right. Until you take a bite, seem like it is sendeo.

Corey:

All right, I like that.

Lauren:

What language is that for?

Nick:

Draconic. I think it's Spanish.

Corey:

Okay, we'll take your word for it, Cindy. All right, cool. So you all just designed a world, or at least pieces of a world. I'll flesh out the rest in one hour and came up with a name.

I think that's great. Okay, so before we get into kind of the ending of things, I think now would be a great time. So you are the demigods. You created this world.

You, you know, you didn't have a whole lot of supervision. Kind of maybe mess things up, who knows? So now let's talk about your characters that will actually be playing in this world.

So I. I would love for you all to take the time to introduce your character. Now, here's the thing, listeners. This is how the game is going to go.

They just created the world the way this is the only thing I told our players to do. They were to make a character at level three not have any equipment on them. And the only thing they can do is remember how they died.

Okay, so they are dead characters. I know this is crazy way to start, but they are dead characters. The only memory that they have is they know how.

Well, memory, I guess you could say they were going to explain how they died. Okay, and so first thing, Nick, we'll start with you. I want you to just. At the start off, just go ahead and tell me about your character.

Then I'm going to lead you into a little bit of a scenario. Okay, so just tell us character's name, what they look like, Class, species, all that good stuff.

Nick:

Okay, so my character's name is E. Louis. That's E, apostrophe, L, O, U, I.

Nathan:

E. Already really good.

Nick:

He, Elui is a level three monk.

Nathan:

Elui is level three.

Nick:

Elui is level three dot you don't say. Hey, Louis is level three.

Lauren:

Okay.

Nick:

He's a monk. He is a. He's a dwarf.

Nathan:

Nice.

Nick:

Yeah. And I'm not supposed to tell anymore, but. Oh. Oh. So I can say a few things. He is bald. I mean you. I mean his. He's extremely bald.

Lauren:

There's like no hair.

Nick:

Yeah.

Lauren:

Up there.

Nick:

And even when it's like, you know, pitch black at night. It looks like the sun is like beaming off his head. Oh, that's why he keeps it tight.

Nathan:

You're. You were shining as a demigod. Oh, the light, it was like the dome.

Nick:

Something about it reflects the demigod. Okay, and. And he has a beard.

Corey:

Beard.

Nick:

And it's. And he's a little bit older. Okay. And he's. And he. It's a white beard and it's braided and it's like six feet long, though. He's. Wait, how long is he?

Nathan:

Louise.

Nick:

So he stands.

Corey:

Dwarves are like, what, four feet?

Nick:

Yeah, so he stands like four, four and a half, maybe.

Lauren:

Does he trip over his feet?

Nick:

He's not super stocky like, it. Like most, you know, he's a little. He's a little smaller, a little older. Big smile most of the time.

And a six foot long braided white beard that he has to double back.

Corey:

Eloi, you start to kind of fade out of consciousness. You are. You're you. And consciousness has finally left you after you don't know how long it's been because, well, unfortunately, you died.

But you find yourself now waking up, or what you feel is waking up. You don't know exactly where you are. You find yourself in this celestial room. There's stars and galaxies all around you. It is very beautiful.

Kind of takes you by surprise when you look at this. You don't see land or really anything anywhere, but you find yourself just kind of floating in this abyss.

And in front of you, you see kind of floating up. You see a cloaked figure. And they. They're staring at you.

You can't quite make out any facial features, but you know that they are looking, just piercing into your eyes, even though you can't quite technically see theirs. You just. You just. And sense that something is happening. And then you see just a kind of a wave of a hand and in this cloak.

As the cloak kind of falls down the arm. As the arm kind of reaches up, you notice it is just straight bone. As this hand waves in front of you.

And as it does, it's almost like you see your life being projected in the stars and you see the way that you died. So, as Eloi, why don't you tell us the way that you died? As this death guardian is basically showing you a replay of your death.

Nick:

Sweet. So he's looking around and Eluie has. You know, he's just got this deep value for beauty, and he kind of tears up, and then he kind of.

He sees the bony hand and he. Then he's kind of. Kind of brought back to, like, oh, like, what? And then he says. He says. He says, what? I. I don't. What happened?

And he starts thinking back, and he says, I don't remember much, but I know my hands were bound and I had to do something. Something so important, but I can't remember what it was exactly. And then all of a sudden, I couldn't breathe.

And I looked down and I saw half of a banana sticking out of my mouth. And. And I tried to get it out, but my hands were bound, and I tried and I couldn't. And that was it. Now I'm here.

Nathan:

What a. What a noble way to go.

Corey:

What a noble way to die.

Nathan:

So you.

Corey:

You see that play out, and then it. It's almost like the projection disappears.

And as a projection disappears, you see the being kind of float back, and then she points in the distance, and you see floating towards you is what looks to be. What looks to appear to be a giant donut floating in the sky. You kind of remember the donuts in, like, what they are. They're kind of a tasty treat.

But this thing is like. It's like a giant version of that, shaped that way. And as you look back at this.

This death guardian, because you remember the rumors, like, this is kind of the afterlife. It's kind of clicking now, like, oh, I really am dead. This is what I was taught the afterlife was. There's.

There's a guardian that passes you into death. And as you don't see any other planets around you, you don't see anything. It's just that floating donut.

And that guardian looks at you, points at the donut, and you're.

Your spirit that you are right now just begins plummeting towards that donut, that floating mass, and right before you get it and hitting into Impact, black darkness just comes around you. Lauren, why don't you tell us a little bit about your character?

Lauren:

Well, I would like to say that Nick and I made our characters separately, but it seems. It appears like there's gonna be.

Nick:

You also died by choking on a.

Lauren:

Banana, so there's gonna be some.

Nathan:

Both of you bald drawers.

Lauren:

They're.

Nick:

They're gonna.

Lauren:

There's gonna be some overlap, but that's funny. So. But we do spend a lot of time together, so. So, okay, so I. My name is Esmeralda Fitz Monster.

And if, you know, I always take my DND characters as references from things. So if, you know what this is a reference to, maybe write us or something like that so.

But yes, I am Esmeralda Fitzmonster, and you can call me Easy if you want. Oh, and so I don't get it. It.

Corey:

So we have Easy and we have E. So we have Easy E. Yeah.

Lauren:

So easy E. Because it's how you spell. My name is Easy. M E, R, E, L, D, A. So you can call me Easy.

Nathan:

Gotcha.

Lauren:

So it's monster. And so I am a halfling fighter.

Corey:

Two small characters.

Lauren:

Yes.

Corey:

Okay.

Lauren:

Pretty little. So let's say. And I'm pretty, I'm pretty stocky.

I, I like to, I like to hit the gym, you know, and so I'm pretty, I'm a pretty beefy old broad and so about, oh, like two and a half feet tall. And with that, I, you know, I'm pretty, pretty girthy at like a £40, probably so. But yes. So that is, that is my character.

I'm pretty strong, but not, not too bright.

Corey:

Okay, so, and you said she. Her, right?

Lauren:

Yes.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

I forgot to ask. E. Eloe.

Lauren:

He.

Nick:

He. Him.

Corey:

Okay.

Nick:

Okay.

Corey:

I just want to make sure. Okay. So Esmeralda, as kind of the same thing, there's just this cloudy darkness that begins to kind of come into vision for you.

And this time you find yourself in the bottom, bottom of what seems to be an ocean. You don't feel the wetness, but you see, you know how when you look through water, what it looks like, that kind of wavy vision.

You see all that around you. And this time you don't see this stony figure coming to you. What you see is you see an actual school of fish.

We're talking like 20, 30, probably more, just kind of swimming towards you.

And it's almost magical and mesmerizing as you look at it, the shimmering off of the moon glow coming down, and they begin to, like, it almost looks like they're dancing the way they're swimming. They begin to move so fast that it begins to show like an image. And then you recognize that image as yourself.

And this image is now portraying back to you your death. And it hits you all at once that you are also, in passing, deceased. So please tell us how Esmeralda died.

Lauren:

So this was very common for me.

Corey:

I'd done this, I'm sorry, character voices only.

Lauren:

You know, it's, you know what's weird is my character voice kind of sounds like my regular voice.

Nathan:

So.

Corey:

Weird.

Nick:

Crazy.

Lauren:

Yeah, it's just, it's, I, I, you know, it's, it's a coincidence. And so, you know, it was very common that, you know, I would enter food eating contests, you know, as Nick and I did not go through this together.

Nathan:

See the overlap?

Lauren:

And so I. So there was this annual pie eating contest at this harvest festival that I would go to.

And I was like, growing up, and I was like the champion because I, like I said, I was a big old broad, you know, and I could really throw down. So the last one that I did, I was the reigning champ. I was winning.

I started gloating, I started dancing, and I was stuff in my pie hole, and I thought I had this in the bag, you know, And I attempted to eat two pies at once. Thunderous applause. I started choking and I fell over. And the crowd kept cheering because they thought it was a part of the act.

Corey:

Oh, no.

Nick:

Brutal.

Lauren:

Rest in peace, Esmeralda.

Nick:

Rest in peace. Easy.

Corey:

All right, so we had two food related deaths. Oh, my God.

Lauren:

How did that happen?

Corey:

On the Donut World?

Nick:

Yeah.

Corey:

And okay, so as you see this play out in front of you, as the school of fish begin to swirl around and the image begins now to break up, you almost, you just kind of feel that feeling you had when you were just helpless on the ground and people were cheering and you were almost that helpless feeling of like, no, I need your help.

Nick:

Gulp.

Corey:

That kind of starts to rise up. And then you see the school of fish, they kind of come under you and they begin to spin really fast. And they almost.

Because the way they're moving the water, it's kind of pushing you back up to the top of the water.

Lauren:

Yes.

Corey:

And as you break the crest of the ocean, these birds actually begin to sprout wings and they continue to fly up.

Lauren:

This is so beautiful.

Corey:

And as you were being pulled up, you notice this giant floating donut.

Lauren:

And I'm like.

Corey:

And the minute you look at it, you see what looks like this comet just go really fast and smack into the donut. And as you're like, that's weird, there's a floating donut in the sky, or it's a donut shaped something, and something just hit it really fast.

And the minute you're thinking about it, you begin to be sucked right into the same planet at high speeds until you black out as well. Okay, Nathan, why don't you share with us a little bit about your character?

Lauren:

Sure.

Nathan:

My character's name is Stump. Stump is an eight foot tall goliath.

Nick:

He is bald as well, so not the same.

Nathan:

He is gray at all. He weighs like 500 pounds. He's a sweetheart. He's not very smart, but not exactly Stupid. I think once you get to know Stump, you'll kind of get it.

Corey:

That's so funny. We have a Goliath and two small people.

Nathan:

My children. I'm dad. My two kids.

Lauren:

I want to know if you died while choking on food.

Nathan:

No, thankfully, I did not die by choking on food.

Corey:

Stump, you begin to regain what you feel like is consciousness. You feel a cold feeling, almost lightweight. As your eyes begin to open, you find yourself in this grotto.

Trees, grass, bushes all around you, just completely surrounded.

Nathan:

Normal grotto stuff.

Corey:

Yeah, normal grotto stuff. Birds in the air, you seeing little bunnies hopping around.

Nick:

You.

Corey:

You look at, you look and you're just sitting on this, like, chair that you made that you remember that this is something I made that just sitting here. It may not be the best build quality. Yeah, but it's something you made with your hands.

Nathan:

It kind of just looks like a stump. Yeah, exactly, because it is. But stumps, like, best chair stump ever grow.

Corey:

Yes. And so you're sitting there and you're kind of taking all this in, and at first you're just kind of like. You don't necessarily know where you're at.

But it's beautiful. It's mesmerizing. It's so peaceful. And as you, as you begin to finally kind of like, okay, this is nice, maybe I was having a bad dream or something.

You know, you see these two giant elk come in from either side in front of you, entering through the trees. They kind of. They're. They're kind of an upright march as they kind of head to the center and they kind of turn in unison to look at you and they.

Oh, it's almost like this very respectful bow that they give. They kind of put their front arm forward and kind of bend their heads down to kind of bow.

And you see these massive antlers kind of going down to you. And then as they turn to walk away, so they kind of turn in opposite directions.

It starts to cause a split in the fabric of reality, I guess you could say. It starts to pull away the scene to the left and to the right. And it tears like a curtain. Curtain going up, up from the bottom to the top.

And as it cuts, you just see this black void. And this black void begins to kind of have this vortex of white cloud begin to form until it fills all the way up. And then you start to see images.

And you see Stump there in the images and you recognize this as it hits you in your memory the moment you died. Explain that to us.

Nathan:

Well, instantly, once Stump realizes What is playing? He gets up and positions himself between the vision and the deer or the elk. Sorry. So that they can't see.

And what we see, the listeners with our minds is it's like a little general store for adventurers. And Stump walks in. Stump's very big. He's usually too big for things. And he hits his head on one of the support beams. It's like oh.

And he goes to kind of catch his balance and he foot goes on a loose board. He's like, oh. And kind of spins, trying to catch his balance again. Sits on a barrel that like has a bunch of short swords in it.

Jumps up from that goes. Tries to catch himself on like a shelf that has like some potions on it. Knocks over the potion, causes a domino effect.

Potions are falling off all the way down the aisle. Stump slips. He's sliding in the potions. He's transforming into different creatures.

He turns into a chicken and then like a bird and then like a rabbit and then Mark Hamill for a second and then back to like a rabbit again. And then he smashes into a big display of like axes and spears and stuff and they all fall on him.

And then he pokes his head up out of the spears and he goes, oh, Stump.

Nick:

Okay.

Nathan:

And then zoom out, you see a sign that says buy one get one free. Suspended anvils. And there's an anvil tied on a rope above Stump. And the rope snaps, falls down. And then we cut back to present with the elk.

And Stump says, heart attack.

Corey:

That's what did.

Nick:

Must have been a heart attack. It sounds like a heart attack stack.

Lauren:

I guess after all that.

Nathan:

The crazy thing is Stump has no pre existing medical conditioning involving his heart. That's crazy. So it was like a freak accident for Stump for this to happen.

Lauren:

That's so unfortunate.

Nick:

Wow.

Corey:

The corner report says anvil, but we all know it was a heart attack.

Nathan:

Can I roll to convince the elk?

Corey:

No, they believe you. They're, they're your guardians.

Nathan:

They're ushering you.

Nick:

You okay? Yeah.

Corey:

They're ushering you. They, they like elk.

Nick:

They're like yes, heart attack.

Lauren:

Oh.

Corey:

And you see as you're kind of convincing the elks and they just staring at you like they're not arguing or whatever.

You see on the other side of the elk coming back from the north side of the grotto, you see a bunch of rabbits carrying like a medium sized donut on their back. And when I say medium size, it's like the size of like a medium sized bright person.

You know, and so they're kind of carrying it on their back and you're just like weird, delicious. Yeah, exactly.

Nathan:

Give stump your donut.

Corey:

And then the minute they kind of get in the grotto, like this comically just expands and like grows huge. So fat that like smacks into you, you know? And then you just completely black out.

Nathan:

Less donuts.

Lauren:

Yeah, less donut.

Corey:

And you just completely black out as this donut expands into the universe.

Lauren:

Hashtag, less donut.

Nathan:

So that's French for the donut that.

Corey:

Listeners, is how our characters died. Now, the reason I told you all that you we are starting this game with you all dying is for a specific reason.

And so listeners, thank you for listening this whole time. Now to the end where we get. You were able to hear the world being built. You were able to hear the characters and who they are.

And now you're going to hear the reason why I told them they are dead.

Nathan:

We don't even know.

Corey:

They don't even know.

Nathan:

We're going to learn along with you.

Corey:

The world Sindeo, was a creation by a group of new demigods, fresh graduates from the Celestial Academy of Creation. Their assignment, build a functioning mortal realm.

Their result, an unhinged plane of chaos where physics, logic and morality all took a backseat to aesthetics and vibes. These demigods were left alone with no guidance and unwilling to wait for guidance. They took it upon themselves to spice things up.

Their lack of knowledge and understanding of creation led to chaos and major oopsies. You see, every year a new world is created to reincarnate all that have passed away.

Everyone dies and everyone is reborn and the patch notes are applied. Normally, reincarnations are randomized. New bodies, new species, new memories.

But due to a divine bug in the code, everyone was reincarnated as themselves. And furthermore, to make matters worse, everyone remains remembers something from their past.

Now the three of you all awaken like newborn babies, opening their eyes for the first time as your old selves in the same bodies. But something feels strange. Plain clothes, no weapons, and all the same scars and skins that belong to you.

You are are reborn the same age and same body you perished in. And you can only recall one thing. Your own death. And that you were once heroes. But it all seems cloudy now.

Slowly, as you take in your surroundings, you see what appears to be a waiting room of sorts. Long lines of humanoids waiting to speak to a representative at a desk. You see the letters DMV etched across the desk. Division of Mystical Voyages.

Nick:

Okay, not what I was thinking.

Nathan:

I was thinking a different thing.

Nick:

Yeah.

Corey:

You slowly begin to recover fragments of your memories from each life you've lived before realizing the horrible truth. As you look around, all of the people around you are your former victims.

Nathan:

What.

Corey:

Quest happens is Nick Jackson as Eloi. Lauren Keller as Esmeralda. Fitz Monster. Nathan Guidry as Stump. And I am your dungeon master, Corey Keller.

Catch us every other Thursday as a new episode drops and we'll see you in the next adventure.

Nick:

Sam.
