Shownotes

When everyone says you are doing enough and something inside you still says you are falling short. This is a place to rest, not to fix.

About 14 minutes with Steven Webb's calm voice.

The part that says I must do more is not your enemy. It is a child that never felt finished. You let it ache and you hold it. Underneath is a bigger mind that already holds everything and wants nothing. You are both, and you are the one who sees both. I let the small mind ache. I let the big mind open. I rest in the middle.

Transcripts

Steven Webb:

Welcome.

Steven Webb:

This meditation is for those moments when it feels like the world is falling apart and some part of you

Steven Webb:

believes it's your job to fix it.

Steven Webb:

When the world says you're doing enough and you're amazing, but inside you feel like you're falling short.

Steven Webb:

This is the space to rest. Not to fix. Not to prove.

Steven Webb:

Just to be.

Steven Webb:

So let's begin by letting go of trying. And allowing this moment to hold you.

Steven Webb:

So we begin by just settling in.

Steven Webb:

Whatever that looks like and feels like for you.

Steven Webb:

Let your body find its own weight.

Steven Webb:

Let the chair or cushion carry you.

Steven Webb:

Just let gravity do the work.

Steven Webb:

You don't even need to hold your body up right now. Just allow your body to be held.

Steven Webb:

And now just become aware of your breath.

Steven Webb:

But don't do anything with it.

Steven Webb:

No control. No change.

Steven Webb:

Just watch it come and go.

Steven Webb:

Breathing in calm. Breathing

Steven Webb:

out relax

Steven Webb:

Your body knows how to breathe.

Steven Webb:

We don't have to get involved.

Steven Webb:

Let it be wild or calm.

Steven Webb:

Let it be shallow or deep.

Steven Webb:

You're not here to fix your breath.

Steven Webb:

You're here to meet it. To

Steven Webb:

meet in this moment, just as it is.

Steven Webb:

And let the body soften.

Steven Webb:

The jaw. The hands. The belly.

Steven Webb:

Even the thoughts.

Steven Webb:

Let them wonder if they want.

Steven Webb:

There's nothing you need to do. There's nothing you need to manage right now.

Steven Webb:

You are safe.

Steven Webb:

You are held.

Steven Webb:

And you are here.

Steven Webb:

Breathing in calm.

Steven Webb:

Breathing out relaxed.

Steven Webb:

And now bring your awareness to what some might call the small mind.

Steven Webb:

This is the thinking mind.

Steven Webb:

The surviving mind.

Steven Webb:

The part of you that wants to get things right.

Steven Webb:

The part that still feels like it has something to prove.

Steven Webb:

It might say, I must do more.

Steven Webb:

I must not let them down.

Steven Webb:

And just notice it.

Steven Webb:

Feel the weight of it.

Steven Webb:

Not as a burden, but as a sign of how deeply you care.

Steven Webb:

This small mind is not your enemy. It's not wrong.

Steven Webb:

It's a child that never felt finished.

Steven Webb:

It's the part of you that longed to be enough

Steven Webb:

and never quite believed it was.

Steven Webb:

Let it speak.

Steven Webb:

Let it ache

Steven Webb:

And hold it gently.

Steven Webb:

No need to banish it.

Steven Webb:

It just wants to be heard.

Steven Webb:

Now feel beneath that,

Steven Webb:

beneath the thoughts, beneath

Steven Webb:

the emotions,

Steven Webb:

beneath even the breath. There

Steven Webb:

is a space,

Steven Webb:

a stillness,

Steven Webb:

a presence that does not want. Because it already holds everything.

Steven Webb:

Some call it the big mind.

Steven Webb:

Or the heart mind. Or

Steven Webb:

just awareness itself.

Steven Webb:

It doesn't need applause. It

Steven Webb:

doesn't crave recognition.

Steven Webb:

It simply is.

Steven Webb:

It simply is.

Steven Webb:

Let yourself rest there.

Steven Webb:

Even if just for a moment.

Steven Webb:

Let yourself be the sky. Not

Steven Webb:

the clouds that pass through it.

Steven Webb:

Here is the paradox. You

Steven Webb:

are both.

Steven Webb:

You are the small mind that longs to change the world so it can finally feel whole. And

Steven Webb:

you are the vast heart that knows there is nothing to fix,

Steven Webb:

nothing missing,

Steven Webb:

nothing to chase.

Steven Webb:

And you? You

Steven Webb:

are the one that sees both.

Steven Webb:

The one that holds the tension.

Steven Webb:

The one that no longer needs to resolve the paradox

Steven Webb:

because you've learnt how to rest in it.

Steven Webb:

This is the middle.

Steven Webb:

You are the middle.

Steven Webb:

Say to yourself now gently,

Steven Webb:

I let the small mind ache.

Steven Webb:

I let the big mind open.

Steven Webb:

I do not need to choose.

Steven Webb:

I rest in the middle.

Steven Webb:

I let the small mind ache.

Steven Webb:

I let the big mind open.

Steven Webb:

I do not need to choose.

Steven Webb:

I rest in the middle.

Steven Webb:

There is no finish line.

Steven Webb:

No final moment of perfection.

Steven Webb:

There is no applause that will quiet the ache forever and

Steven Webb:

yet You are enough.

Steven Webb:

Even now.

Steven Webb:

And let those words sink deep.

Steven Webb:

Let your body feel them.

Steven Webb:

Even if you never do another thing. You. Are. Enough.

Steven Webb:

Breathe them in.

Steven Webb:

And breathe them out.

Steven Webb:

Let the fire of not enough burn.

Steven Webb:

Without feeding it, just sit beside it.

Steven Webb:

Like an old friend who no longer scares you.

Steven Webb:

Just sit in silence.

Steven Webb:

In stillness.

Steven Webb:

In the middle.

Steven Webb:

With those words,

Steven Webb:

You are enough.

Steven Webb:

And when you're ready, just gently deepen your breath.

Steven Webb:

In your awareness to this moment.

Steven Webb:

Wiggle your fingers and soften your gaze. You

Steven Webb:

turn to the world not with a task, but with the truth.

Steven Webb:

You don't need to become. You already are. You are home. And

Steven Webb:

thank you for sitting. And

Steven Webb:

this is a wonderful meditation that Recognizes the inner child which I

Steven Webb:

sit dearly with and feel like on so many occasions that I'm not enough no matter what I

Steven Webb:

do.

Steven Webb:

No matter how many friends and people say how

Steven Webb:

wonderful we are, it just doesn't nourish and fill us. And

Steven Webb:

I think the greatest gift we can have is realising that is enough.

Steven Webb:

We are whole and

Steven Webb:

we find that wholeness in the space between. The

Steven Webb:

vastness of perfection. The

Steven Webb:

vastness of what is. Of

Steven Webb:

pure stillness.

Steven Webb:

And the ache and longing for wanting more.

Steven Webb:

There's that stillness in the middle. Thank you for being with me today. Thank you for sitting with me.

Steven Webb:

Thank you for being enough. I'm Steven Webb and thank you for supporting me.

Steven Webb:

Take care.
