00:00:06 Nazish: There's a difference between surviving a moment in history and actually thriving inside it. And what? And right now, many of us are white knuckling our way through a world that feels increasingly uncertain, increasingly loud and increasingly hard to make sense of it. But what if the very turbulence we are living through isn't something to outlast? What if it is something to grow into? Today's guest believes that it is not just a difficult era, it is an awakening. And she is here to to talk about what it actually takes to thrive in the middle of the one.
00:00:46 Nazish: Welcome to Mind Over Matter, where we explore the inner strength, resilience, and psychological depth that allow human beings to rise through their most challenging seasons. I am your host, and today I'm joined by Doctor Christina Scimeca, a spiritual and holistic psychologist with twenty years of experience, a doctorate in. In clinical psychology and a master's in Kinesiology. Following a profound awakening in twenty twenty, she discovered her deeper mission to inform, inspire and support the humanity we navigate. A massive collection in evolution and consciousness. She is the author of Evolving Consciousness and the Journey of Discovering Inner Peace, and she lives and offers retreats near the sacred sites of Mount Shasta. Today we are talking about not just surviving the collective collective awakening. Let's actually try, but actually thriving within it. So let's begin. I welcome you to the show, Christina.
00:01:55 Christina Samycia: Hello. Thank you for having me. I'm honored to be here.
00:01:59 Nazish: Wonderful. Before we go ahead, listeners, some statements reflect personally and experiences and are presented as individual views, not medical advice. So listeners should consult qualified
00:02:12 Speaker 3: Professionals.
00:02:13 Nazish: For
00:02:13 Speaker 3: Medical conditions.
00:02:18 Nazish: So, Christina, The world thriving. The world isn't is interesting because it implies something beyond managing and or copying. It implies a kind of aliveness of forward movement, even in the middle of difficulty in your own life. In years since your awakening. What was thriving actually like? What has thriving actually looked like you for you on an ordinary day?
00:02:50 Christina Samycia: Well, I would say that, I mean, right now we are going through a very difficult time. So it is, I think, okay, if you're feeling anxious and confused and a little bit lost, because I think that's perfectly normal. Um, during this collective awakening and the shift in consciousness that we are experiencing, um, however, the way that we can thrive through this is to understand the bigger picture and where we're heading, because I think collectively right now, we are going through what I believe is a crumbling of all these old systems. And I believe the old systems need to crumble in order for us to rebuild something new and to thrive through this, um, is really about sort of holding the vision of the type of world we would, we would like to see and decide what role we're going to play in, in making that happen. And that could be a very active role. Um, like I know a lot of people are actually starting more conscious communities and are being proactive. Or it could just be, um, meditating on a daily basis and sort of envisioning a better world and doing our own personal work and healing and understanding sort of the bigger picture as to what we're experiencing.
00:04:15 Nazish: Absolutely. That sounds beautiful.
00:04:19 Speaker 3: Beautiful.
00:04:21 Nazish: So, you know, Christina, mind over matter as a show is built around the idea that our inner world has real power over how we experience and navigate our outer circumstances. And you bring a very specific lens to that idea. That what we are living through collectively right now is not just a difficulty, but evolutionary. So how does understanding the correct current moment as an awakening rather than a sim, rather than simply a crisis, actually change the psychological living experience of it?
00:05:00 Christina Samycia: Um, sure. So, um, yeah, understanding that we are all here for this moment, you know, in time that this is a very, although challenging, very amazing time, you know, to be to be on this on this planet and, um, to understand that we are co-creating sort of a better, a better world through our consciousness and through our, through our healing.
00:05:34 Nazish: Absolutely. I, I agree with that. We are all co-creating a world with something or the other thing that we have to face in our life. And that is such an important distinction.
00:05:45 Christina Samycia: Mhm.
00:05:47 Nazish: And, you know, and is that reframe accessible to someone who is genuinely struggling financially, emotionally, and relationally? Or does it say that? Yeah, I'm saying this psychological lived experience that you told. Does it require a certain stability before a person can hold on to it? Honestly?
00:06:15 Christina Samycia: Well, that would be, I mean, helpful. And I know a lot of people right now are struggling in so many different ways. And I think it's just about, you know, finding a sense of peace within that, um, you know, horrible circumstance that most of us are, are in right now. So I know from financially, relationship wise job, you know, all sorts of areas, it's, it's very unstable. And that is why it's so important to, you know, turn inward right now and just find some sense and grounding within sort of within ourselves and understand that a lot of these things that we're sort of stressed about are really illusions. They're not, they're not real. And to figure out what is actually real and what is important. And, and all of that is, you know, coming from an internal place of strength.
00:07:17 Nazish: I agree that is coming from an internal.
00:07:20 Speaker 3: Piece of. Strength.
00:07:22 Nazish: And you know, what you seem to be offering is something that can be held even in the hardest places.
00:07:29 Christina Samycia: Mhm.
00:07:30 Nazish: Not as a bypass of difficulty, but as a way of remaining oriented.
00:07:35 Christina Samycia: Yes, yes. It's important not to do any sort of bypassing right now, because I'm not advocating that you know, everything is, you know, love and light and positive because we are going through very tough times. And it's when things are coming up, just think of it as, okay, these are my triggers. These are still things that need to be explored within me. And this is also all temporary.
00:08:06 Nazish: Absolutely. I agree with you. And I know you have worked as a psychologist for over two decades, and you have also lived your own profound awakening from both of those vantage points. What is are the specific psychological patterns that most prevent people from thriving during times of collective upheaval?
00:08:32 Christina Samycia: So you're asking like from a psychological perspective, what, um, what are some of the obstacles? Yes, people are having to, um, well, I, I think one of them is to understand that change is inevitable. You know, a lot of people aren't happy with change. They want things to stay the same. And that's just not how life is. And right now, change is happening on a, I believe in an accelerated, um, sort of level. And to really embrace that everything is, is temporary and things are shifting and, um, to really understand that. I mean, I believe we're, we're going, heading to a better place when that's going to be. I don't think any of us truly know, but this is just part of this, this process right now.
00:09:26 Nazish: Yeah. It is a part of process and that is what makes it more better, because I believe this process makes you grow and become a better person.
00:09:38 Christina Samycia: Mhm. Yes, this is sort of a daily practice. So a suggestion I have for anybody who's really struggling is to make sure to have some time, even on a daily basis, to just go out in nature. Nature is so important right now to really, you know, connect with Mother Earth and the trees and the animals. And, um, there's a lot of healing to be, to be done there. So, you know, take your shoes off and go stand in some grass. That's like one of the best things you can do right now to just stay grounded and, um, and a little more stable in this, in this turmoil that we're experiencing. Yeah.
00:10:22 Nazish: I mean, I completely agree with you over there, you know, because I think there is a quiet assumption that people who are further along this path somehow no longer struggle with the same human patterns. And what you are describing is something much more honest and much more useful than that.
00:10:41 Christina Samycia: Mhm. I think people who are more aware are possibly struggling even more than those who who aren't, because we're really seeing all of the levels of dysfunction and darkness and shadow sort of on the planet. So another suggestion is to disconnect as much as possible from the news and media. Like it's because that is just sort of, um, uh, just propelling us into fear and chaos and division and separation. And, you know, there's this concept of, if I have more information, you know, I'll be more informed. But I don't think that's really true. Like, I think people who are more aware. Know what's really happening on the planet. We don't need to see and hear all of the horrible, gory details because that's really. I don't think that's very good for our our psyche right now. Um, and it's just to disconnect, find peace and stability within ourselves.
00:11:49 Nazish: I, I.
00:11:49 Speaker 3: Agree, I agree.
00:11:51 Nazish: So, you know, thinking you thriving during an awakening seems to require a particular relationship with uncertainty and most psychological framework. Teach us to manage uncertainty or reduces. But a collective awakening by its nature involves sustained not knowing. So how do you help people develop a genuine capacity to be present with uncertainty, rather than just tolerating it, tolerating it?
00:12:22 Christina Samycia: Yeah, I think one of the most important things that someone can do, and this is something I stress in my book a lot, is to really embody a sense of empowerment and sovereignty and to understand that we we are here for a bigger purpose and not to fall into this, you know, sort of victim victim mentality and understand we are, you know, we're, we're going to be part of this, this shift.
00:12:58 Nazish: Absolutely. Having a victim mentality can actually bring a harm to ourselves rather than to anybody else.
00:13:06 Christina Samycia: Mhm.
00:13:08 Nazish: And you require that acceptance for yourself, for your growth and for your own betterment.
00:13:16 Christina Samycia: Yes.
00:13:17 Nazish: Yeah. And I think your work draws on both clinical psychology as well as deep understanding of consciousness and energy.
00:13:26 Christina Samycia: Mhm. Yeah. I combine both as well as kind of philosophical sort of ideas in my writing, for sure.
00:13:35 Nazish: Yeah, I can imagine that. So like in practical terms, what does it mean to align with higher consciousness during daily life?
00:13:46 Christina Samycia: Well, it's about so if we're looking at the world as it is, it's functioning very much in ego. And, and right now, the ego and the shadow of humanity is sort of being, being amplified. And the reason we're seeing all of this darkness and the shadow because it needs to come to the surface. So I think what we all need to do is sort of understand the role that we're playing in, in all of this. And, um, something I stress a lot about in my book is that we would love to believe that we're logical, conscious, practical thinkers, but our subconscious mind is really what drives most of our decisions and our thought processes. So it's really important for us to sort of understand that and see how we are contributing to this, you know, victim consciousness and our ego and, um, to figure out to live our lives based on, you know, love and, and wisdom.
00:14:56 Nazish: Yeah, yeah. That is what matters. Because, and I appreciate about this answer is that it doesn't make driving conditions on access to the particular place or practice. It brings the principle back into the person's own body, then their own breath and their own moment of choice, of choice.
00:15:22 Christina Samycia: Yes. And all of us are being triggered right now. And it's important for us to kind of look at those triggers and clear all of the trauma, all the belief systems, you know, from our our subconscious mind and even our, our physical bodies.
00:15:41 Nazish: Absolutely. I completely agree with you there. And, you know, you speak about humanity creating a blueprint for new earth. And that is a collective endeavor, but it begins with individual choosing differently in their own life. So what do you believe are two or three most important inner qualities that someone needs to genuinely cultivate right now, not just to survive this moment, but to contribute to the world that is trying to emerge from it?
00:16:12 Christina Samycia: Okay. Um, a really important concept that I discuss in evolving consciousness is the idea that on a very subconscious level, and even in our DNA, we all are just little children who want to be taken care of. And that is what drives this victim consciousness, these control dramas, these power dynamics that we find ourselves in. So I think the most important thing we can do is understand that, you know, we need to resolve that inner, um, that inner desire to be taken care of and to become, you know, um, independent, not dependent on others. Um, because that's part of why we are in, you know, this, this sort of, um, mess to begin with. If, if we are looking outside of ourselves for, you know, guidance and protection and resources, that leaves us vulnerable to power dynamics, which is exactly what's happening. And, um, for us to just embody that we are powerful sovereign beings and no one has authority over us. Um, and I, I kind of talk about this concept of psychologically growing up and becoming an evolved adult and understanding that, you know, taking responsibility over our lives, not just saying, well, somebody else is going to take care of me or take care of things because that's why we're here as a collective and we have to take responsibility over, over that.
00:17:50 Nazish: Yeah. I mean, that is very true. To be your own independent person is something that we are all aiming for these days.
00:17:58 Christina Samycia: Mhm.
00:18:00 Nazish: Yeah. And that is such a compassionate answer for the depleted person. Person is so necessary in the conversation because the invitation to evolve and thrive can sometimes land us more than more thing. One more thing a person is failing to do well enough.
00:18:20 Christina Samycia: Mhm. Exactly, and always to be loving and compassionate with oneself. That's that is also so important. Um, because right now it's very, very, you know, challenging times. And I, I would say, like, even in the past year, it has been one of the most challenging years. And I've tried to analyze and I can't even come up as to like, why is this last year particularly challenging? But just accepting that it is and that's, you know, there are there are things we don't quite sort of understand that are happening on an energetic universal level.
00:19:00 Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I agree the absolutely.
00:19:03 Nazish: There are so many things that we don't know is happening, but they are actually happening. And I believe this conversation brings that answer
00:19:11 Speaker 3: For them.
00:19:15 Christina Samycia: Yeah.
00:19:16 Speaker 4: Christina.
00:19:17 Nazish: For someone listening right now who is genuinely trying and who is doing the work, reading the books, sitting in the practices, yet still feels like they are barely keeping up with everything that is shifting around and within them. What would you want them to know about where they are on this journey?
00:19:38 Christina Samycia: Well, I don't think anybody could keep up with everything right now, you know. So to really just, I would say simplify. Like that is really I think the answer right now is just simplify, simplify, simplify and sort of, you know, trust your intuition as to like how much rest you need and you know, how much time off you might need, because that's just so important right now.
00:20:08 Speaker 4: Absolutely.
00:20:08 Nazish: Being that mindful and having that awareness is something that we all need right now.
00:20:14 Christina Samycia: Mhm.
00:20:15 Speaker 4: Yeah.
00:20:17 Nazish: And, Christina, if there is going to be one thing that I am going to take with myself from this conversation is that thriving during an awakening doesn't mean having it all together. It means choosing again and again to stay open, stay present, and trust the direction your deepest self is already moving in.
00:20:39 Christina Samycia: Yes. Yes. Nobody has it all together right now. That is that is not possible for for sure. And just to have love and compassion with kind of how you're feeling and understand that there's just a lot of stuff that's coming to the surface collectively as well as sort of individually. And that's and that is okay.
00:21:03 Speaker 4: Absolutely.
00:21:03 Nazish: I couldn't agree more with you and Christina. For everyone who wants to go deeper with your work and find your books and explore your retreats and offerings. Where is the best place for them to find you and connect with you?
00:21:20 Christina Samycia: Yes, you can access my website. So it's Christina CD. So that's Christina with a c h, so C h r I s t I n a p s y d dot com.
00:21:35 Nazish: Wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing that with us. I will make sure to include all these details into the show notes so that a lot of people can reach out to you.
00:21:45 Christina Samycia: Great. Thank you so much.
00:21:48 Nazish: Thank you. Christina. This conversation was a reminder that thriving isn't reserved for people who are able, who have everything figured out. It is available for anyone willing to stay honest and stay open and keep choosing themselves, even when the world around them is uncertain.
00:22:08 Christina Samycia: Yes.
00:22:10 Nazish: Yeah. So for anyone listening today, if something in today's episode gave you a handhold, hold on to it. Share this episode with someone in your life who is working hard to navigate this moment and could not use a reminder that they are not behind. They are right on time. We will be back soon. More on mind over matter. Until then, keep going forward. This awakening needs exactly who you are.
